I think that it depends on certain factors. First of all, Bendalloy is supposed to be pretty expensive, so most Sliders won't have the ability to burn enough metal to become Savants. It is also possible that a Bendalloy Savant can't completely exclude everything but themselves but can merely pick and choose a few things by sculpting their Speed-Bubble just right. But assuming that a Slider can get enough metal to become a Savant, and assuming that they could be skilled enough to exclude everything but themselves, you're right; they would be very powerful in combat, and possibly be even better than Steelrunners since they don't have to store speed over time, and their clothing, weapons, and other articles may be less vulnerable to high velocity as well, since they could be inside the bubble. A Slider doesn't gain extra punching or hitting power from increased speed though (like when bullets exit a speed bubble and slow down drastically), as their speed comes from time dilation, while a Steelrunner's speed almost certainly should, since it is an actual increase in one's comparative speed. So there's that.

I recently read this quote. Does this mean that it could be possible for someone knowledgeable and very, very sneaky to edit a Shard Vessel's memories, causing them to do what an individual wanted, or is it referring to Hoid and Odium's confrontation only? Also, does "it's a lot easier to access that Investiture" refer to someone else accessing it, or the actual Invested individual? Because if it's talking about someone else accessing your memories, it's almost laughably easy for Scadrians to access Preservation's and Ruin's Investiture via the Mists or the Metallic Arts. Heck, Horor's Investiture is just as easy for Rosharans, as is Autonomy's for Taldainian's to access.

You can't store muscle memory though. Plus, wouldn't you need to develop muscle memory by practicing a lot with the languages? That would negate the whole purpose of having a magic power that lets you remember things better, it feels like.

How is it that Copper Feruchmy is so useful? In TFE pg. 233, Sazed says that he has memorized 172 languages. But how would he be able to use them, even after tapping the knowledge? wouldn't he need to train and practice with them in order to use them in any practical situation? Also, if a copper Ferring or Full Feruchemist removes their memory in order to save it for later, wouldn't they just forget what it is exactly that they have the potential to recall?

Aha, that makes sense. Thanks for the quote and the confirmation @Frustration!

We saw in Mistborn era 1 that Ruin was able to manipulate and change writing and even the contents of Copperminds. I wonder then, could a Feruchemist make their Copperminds safe by embedding them withing their body? Even if Ruin had the theoretical power to change what was inside them, the Investiture of the Feruchemist's body would make doing more that just wiping them seem unlikely.

In The Lost Metal, we see that Trellium spikes are used by Set Members to sidestep being Controlled by Harmony, but they are still able to be controlled by Autonomy. We also see that Allomancers with Trellium spikes are still able to use Allomancy, which is powered by utilizing a Connection to Preservation to draw on Preservation's Investiture (or possibly Ruin's, if the power is granted by a Hemalurgic spike). This left me confused, since an individual would need a Connection to Harmony in order to utilize their powers, but that leaves them open to influence and even outright control if they bear more than three Hemalurgic spikes. Trellium must then, I figure, rewrite one's Connection, transferring it from whatever Shard they were Connected to before and Connecting them instead to Autonomy since an individual must be Connected to something. The Set's Allomantic powers are probably powered entirely by Autonomy's Investiture, since Allomancy would still need a Shard to fuel them, and those pierced by Trellium wouldn't be Connected to Harmony anymore, and thus wouldn't be able to draw on its Investiture. I bet that if this is the case, Trellium-other Godmetal alloy would rewrite one's Connection to any Shard that the Trellium was alloyed with, similar to how Lerasium can grant a Connection to and powers from any shard when alloyed with that Shard's metal.

In The Lost Metal, Marsh states that Identity contamination prevents the Set from compounding. I wonder, then, if you could overcome this limitation by having the donor blank their Identity via Unsealed Aluminumminds, or via a Hemalurigc spike. This also makes me wonder why it is that Marsh can compound, even though he doesn't (presumably) have Identityless spikes. Did Hemalurgic spikes just permeate the Spiriweb more in Ancient times, and now the spikes are more "contained" within their separate Identities? I know that we have the Ars. Arcanum, but I'm just curious about the mechanics of Hemalurgy's change, and how they can be overcome by a clever individual (not that I personally claim to be such an individual, just a curious one).

In The Lost Metal, the Set scientists don't know how to program the Investiture in the spikes they make from non-Allomancers. I bet that you could take a Hemalurgic spike that already had an Invested power, then split the spike into multiple smaller spikes. Even though each spike now has a fraction of the power it once provided, you could refill it by spiking some non-Allomancers, possible while using a specialized Command to have the new unprogrammed Investiture use the previously existing investiture as a model to follow. OR, you skip the splitting step and just fuel up a Hemalurgic spike with extra non-Allomancers, and supercharge the power to Lord Ruler levels.

I was wondering, if a non-Radiant character in the SA were to start living the ideals of the knights Radiant and was to actually get to the point where they would be fully capable of swearing each Oath of a particular order, and then they Bonded a Spren of that order, would they be able to belt out Oaths and become a fully powered Radiant since they had prepared for it beforehand? It may be that you could argue that their Spiritweb would be too "healed" or uncracked at that point for a Spren to Bond them, but it seems like basically everyone has some cracks in the Spiritweb form somthing. I bet that it would be possible, and totally awesome to see something like this happen on-screen.

I was wondering, why doesn't the Everstorm fill spheres with Voidlight as a Highstorm does with Stormlight? Even though there is a LOT of Investiture in a Everstorm (which we know is present because of the fact that Singers can change forms in it), my guess as to why is doesn't renew spheres with Voidlight is due solely to Odium's Intent. Odium is inherently selfish, wishing to hold on to as much power as possible, relinquishing only the bare minimum to his Fused and Regals when they need it. Spoilers for Mistborn era 1. If this is common knowledge and I just totally missed it somehow, I do sincerely apologize.

In Oathbringer, Kaladin sees a vision of Dalinar in danger when he touches the Rii Oracle's Invested sphere. This seems something akin to an Allomancer burning Duralumin plus Atium. That got me thinking, maybe a gold or electrum Misting can see wholly into the Spiritual realm by burning their metal while in a Highstorm, or maybe while huddled inside a Perpendicularity, since the Spiritual realm would already be pretty close.

With Radiants and Fused being able to breath in Invested Light, Bloodmakers tapping Goldminds, Elantrians accessing the Dor, and Awakeners strait up being immune to toxins, poisons don't seem to be as effective on the really powerful Invested magic users. However, I was thinking, if someone wanted to assassinate a being of similar stature to the Lord Ruler, or perhaps a very pesky Radiant or Fused, could someone instill some Bio-Chromatic Breaths in a poison to be used on them? We know that Investiture resists Investiture, and since you can put Breaths in basically any non-Invested object, even if you can't necessarily Awaken it, maybe you could create an Invested toxin capable of killing even the mightiest of magic-users. In all honesty, this probably wouldn't be that world changing though, assuming that it's possible. Not every magic user is immune to poison, and there are probably easier ways to disable or kill powerful magic users with healing properties, such as Hemalurgy, aluminum weapons, and Shardblades. But even so, Invested poison would be interesting to see.

I agree completely. I think that Adolin't next step in character progression needs to be Bonding further Maya, and swearing the Oaths, as it will push him to do the hard things that will make him into an even better person. I think that you guys are probably right. It likely won't be enough for Adolin to swear the Oaths in order to fully restore Maya, and it very well may be that Ba-Ado-Mishram will need to be restored before the healing can be completed.

Yeah, you can store the ability to form specific Connections. This can include Connection to people, location, and even time, though I'm not entirely sure what else you might be able to do. Tapping blank Connection to a location is likely how the medallions allow for communication and tapping Connection to people is probably how a Connector Ferring is able to form relationships with people faster. Not sure what tapping or storing temporal Connection does though, but it probably can't affect age.

Whenever I read a book or watch a movie or show that uses "luck" as an in-world mechanic, it gets under my skin, as if feels like a lazy way for the writers to do whatever unlikely thing they want and be able to get away with it, and for characters to basically just deos ex machina their way to victory. I really hope that Fortune doesn't turn out this way, and that there is a more reliable way for the Feruchemical power of chromium to work. It would also be nice if there was a distinct benefit to tapping Fortune at different rates so that it isn't overpowered or anything like that. Does anyone else have this concern about Fortune?
-
I was under the impression that you could excise any part of someone's Spiritweb just by piercing them with the correct metal and the correct Intent. But I don't actually have any evidence to back it up except that I don't recall any scenes about that mattering, only the implant point mattering.
-
It would be pretty cool to see a Spinner Ferring in a future book. I really want to know more about Fortune and what it's capable of, and what tapping it at different speeds feels like and what it allows someone to actually do. As @robardin said, it would be pretty interesting if you current Intent affected what your Fortune told you to do. Otherwise there would be no skill involved, which would be pretty boring.
-
That makes sense. After all, the Ars. Arcanum states that a Connector Ferring can decrease people's awareness of them when storing and increase the speed of relationship building when tapping, which should only work if the Connector Ferring can somehow influence the other person, even if they do so by changing their own Connection, which then affects the other person in question. Though I bet this means that if a Connector tried to get a group of Zealous followers, they would also affect themselves, which would be kind of weird. Maybe it could be used to help an entire group of people form better cooperation and trust then? Something like Bridge Four but made through Investiture shortcuts. I guess if you wanted to build a group of fanatical followers, you'd probably be better off using Emotional Allomancy.

It could be that Feruchemists can simply move the Investiture from one Metalmind to another without it taking hold of their own self, even if it has to move through them to reach from one Metalmind to another.
-
It could also be that she tapped all of the powers of the Bands, but siphoned them directly into another Metalmind, thus preserving her ability to use them for personal use, but also preventing anyone from using them to stop the Set's machinations. But then you would need to ask, why didn't she use them to help the Set stop Wax and Wayne later? Maybe there was too much infighting at the time? Or maybe she just was too far away from the city they were in?
-
Ah, you're right. I forgot that when you burn Atium, you draw purely from the metal's power, which is Ruin's, not Preservation's. But yeah, for any non-Godmetal compounding, the Feruchemical charge reprograms the metal's "key" so that you draw from Preservation's Investiture, but the effect of said Investiture is what the Feruchemical charge was.

The Hemalurgy table has four quadrants; physical, mental, spiritual, and temporal. The spike placements on the table seem to use the same representation for the entire quadrant of Hemalurgic metals. Does this mean that Bindpoints of the same quadrant can be used interchangeably for different Hemalurgic metals, so long as they are from the same Hemalurgic quadrant? For example, could I put a pewter spike in a Hemalurgist's eye socket instead of a steel one, since they are from the same quadrant?
-
I think that you could probably heal back a Biochromatic Breath taken via Hemalurgy, but only if it was the Breath you were born with, as that seems to be closer to being a part of you, and it even carries pieces of you even when given to someone else. Breaths gained and lost that came from someone else probably can't be healed back, since they are centered more in the physical Realm and never really were a part of your Spiritweb. I also think that if you gave up your Innate Breath using Nalthis's normal system instead of it being stolen, you may be out of luck, as there isn't a lot of damage to be healed, the Breath was just cleanly removed.

Feruchemists can tap their attributes to gain greater abilities than would humanly be possible. So, since a Connector Ferring can increase their friendships with others, then if a Connector Ferring were to tap enough Connection while being near someone else, would that individual grow to like them more than would be natural? Would they get obsessed with the Ferring or "like" them to a zealous degree? And would the feelings of friendship stay after the Ferring had stopped tapping Connection, or would the formed Connections remain in place? Sounds somewhat creepy, actually. And that's coming from a Hemalurgic enthusiast.
