Anyone know who this is?
Stormtide_Leviathan replied to Hoid the Former Drifter's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Dragons are shapeshifters in the cosmere, so I don't think that's particularly necessary -
I just want to know where you got the idea that tin can store basically anything. Did Brandon ever say steelsight is a sense? Do we have a WoB on storing the 'sense of balance' you get from pewter? I think you can only store hearing, sight, smell, taste, or touch in a tinmind. Please. Don’t anger @Koloss17 by insulting tin. You’re lucky I got to you before they did. But yes, tin minds can store all manner of senses. There’s a different WoB that mentions how a platypus can store its electricity-sense. And since you can see bluelines even when you’re blind (it’s how the inquisitors see) there’s very good reason to believe it’s a separate sense. I even asked brandon a question relying on that assumption and he didn’t correct me. Tin is a really cool metal honestly.

I’m gonna propose f-duralumin a-chromium. I actually made a separate thread about this but i think that would allow you to leech someone without touching them, which could be very useful

Crazy Cosmere Theory - RoW & Mistborn Era 2

True, there's unsurprisingly a lot of misconceptions but that's part of what makes it fun, and I believe they do bring up Gavilar's sphere in there -
Crazy Cosmere Theory - RoW & Mistborn Era 2
Stormtide_Leviathan replied to Attentea's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Take a look at this thread from a few years ago -
So with the recent creation of the f-duralumin club, I got to thinking about interesting f-duralumin twinborn. Which made me wonder what allomantic powers heavily use Connection. The obvious answers are the ones that affect other people. Nicrosil, chromium, zinc, brass, maybe copper and bronze, maybe atium and malatium. So what would enhancing your connection do to these? Nicrosil and chromium generally require touch, which I think is to establish a basic connection with your target, and if so I think you could tap f-duralumin to leech/burst someone without touching them. I also think you could use it to generally strengthen any form of allomancy you use that targets someone else. But interestingly, and this would be useful even if you're not a twinborn, this would probably mean if someone tries to allomancy you, you could store connection to counteract it. If you're fighting someone who's burning atium, you could use f-duralumin to make it so that they don't see your shadows. You could maybe even mimic copper and hide yourself from a Seeker if you know what you're doing. So what do you all think? Am I completely off base here? Are there other cool uses for f-duralumin?

True, though he doesn't strike me as serial killer potential. It does seem more likely that the Set succeed somehow, since I doubt any mistborn raised by them would be in a great place, mentally
-
That's true, but we do know of. At least one mistborn still hanging around Scadrial. Who doesn't have the best moral compass

So the question is, can we find a great unifying ability. Is there some magic in the cosmere that would allow you to “see” your connections to other people? That would be very useful to both the club and the cult

Is Lift a Forbidden Target?

He used the term feruchemist, but I’d assume he meant a ferring.- 68 replies

Is Lift a Forbidden Target?
Stormtide_Leviathan replied to Aspiring Writer's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The red one? Brandon actually answered this on a recent livestream. It belongs to a feruchemist who was keeping an eye on Dalinar- 68 replies

How limited was the lord ruler though? I can’t imagine much

Stormlight Livestream 12/17 Takeaways
Stormtide_Leviathan replied to spitfireky's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I don't see how this definitively proves he swears oaths. This answer could definitely make sense if Renarin doesn't swear -
Hmm. I doubt I'll get to 16 but Curiosity- Wanting to investigate everything, and figure stuff out. Magic system could be very study-based, traditional wizardry. Imagination/Wonder- Creativity, basically. Wanting to create new things, and new worlds. The part of me that's always been drawn to mythology and fantasy. Magic system could be based in dreams and imagination somehow- you can enter them, do stuff there, and have it apply to real life somehow maybe? Vengeance- This is kind of like odium I guess, but more active. Wanting to do something when you or others have been wronged. The magic system could be ghost based. When someone dies, if they have unfinished business, they can take a still-living human as a host and the two work together to complete that business, and the human is granted powers somehow. A lot like Spren-bonds Compassion- I think this is my closest to Honor, cause personally I've never been huge on honor. But just, being nice to people. Making sure everyone has everything they need, and if not, helping them get there. No idea about the magic system Assimilation/Favor- Wanting to be liked by everyone, and wanting to fit in. Magic system could reward fame somehow? Defiance- Wanting to go against the grain in general, but especially when you think a rule is Wrong. Again, no idea about the magic system. Loyalty- Sticking with people, especially people who have been through a lot with you and you with them. Ooh I actually have a cool idea for the system here, one I'm using in a book. Where basically, people Bond and can share traits. Like, if one of us needs extra strength, I can grow weaker to make them stronger. Kind of like feruchemy; more instantaneous, but more limited in that the strength can never go beyond the collective. That's all I have for now. I'll add more if and when I think of them

Could nightblood be made up of Raysium?
Stormtide_Leviathan replied to Koloss17's topic in Cosmere Discussion
No one we specifically no of, I just think that’s a more likely source than it being actively involved in the creation (unless all 16 shards were or something)- 20 replies

Could nightblood be made up of Raysium?

Oh okay, cool. I still that’s more likely cause it’s stabbed someone who was hemalurgy-d but it’s possible it was made with it.- 20 replies

I don't think so. The full quote was something like "shallan and adolin would probably be open to it but Kal is as prudish as I am."
-
eh, maybe. But they very well may be weakened too. But this did make me realize it would be useful on Ashyn, though that's still a pretty specific circumstance EDIT: forgot to say I'm kinda confused what you mean here
-
it really depends on the metal. Tin, iron, bronze, brass absolutely. Storing identity allows for some really janky shenanigans like we've seen. But I think it's very limited circumstances where you want to store health, speed, strength, mental speed, determination (?). Maybe not none, but it's gonna be really rare

[ROW Spoiler question] Who all can accept Oaths??
Stormtide_Leviathan replied to athosdebro86's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Nightblood is way closer to AI than the sibling, he’s literally been described as kind of a robot spren by Brandon. But even then, still just use the right pronouns for spren whether or not they’re alive. It’s 1) easier, 2) more correct since that’s the pronouns they use, and 3) nicer to real life people who have to deal with this kind of thing. Nightblood uses he/him so we call him he him, the sibling uses they/them so we call them they/them, and syl uses she/her so we call her she/her. It’s literally that easy. I mean people will call a boat she
