  1. Do we have evidence that she was rebellious before this? Maybe her curse was feeling guilt for her past actions. Odium does have a tendency to take that from people so they could act without remorse
  2. Now there's a theory I haven't heard before. Huh. That's a very cool idea.
  3. It's very possible she's lying; if you put "don't trust me" on the page you should probably put something untrustworthy on there. I'm wondering why she would lie though, since she wants Navani to succeed
  4. Could he have possibly gone to the nightwatcher?
  5. As far as we know, there is a way but he doesn't really know it. Brandon's said he nor hoid has figured out how to awaken with stormlight
  6. I’m pretty sure rlain ended up bonding the one who was sent to Mraize, so it was a mistspren
  7. Oooh where’s that quote from?
  8. Do we know how long Cusicesh has been around?
  9. I would also like to know...(it actually seems like a cool proposal) I'm not the one who said it, but it does have certain advantages over f-tin. You can use it to enhance your senses permanently, rather than having to store like f-tin, and you can use it to gain access to senses you don't normally have. Possibly even some invetiture-granting senses. Those are both extremely useful attributes. I wouldn't say it's better though. Being able to turn down your senses is as useful of a power as being able to turn them up. Sometimes you definitely don't want enhanced senses, just ask spook, but hemalurgy doesn't give you a chance. And as far as I know, we don't know how h-tin works. Does it steal all their senses or is it more selective like f-tin? Cause multiple spikes will add up fast. Hemalurgy also comes with the downside of potentially making you controllable. And that's ignoring the obvious moral dilemmas.
  10. I briefly tried writing a fanfic about a windwhisperer (technically a windwhisperer/lurcher) and was trying to find a good climactic moment for her to tap a bunch of pain, but I couldn't think of a reason why. I don't think some sort of spicy food eating contest would fit the bill, but you know, it's worth a shot I did plan to have her store her sense of pain to let her burn a hemalurgic spike, since normally burning one that you're spiked with causes immense pain and just knocks you out.
  11. I'm not sure I agree. Being able to store pain is certainly useful, no doubt, but pain serves a vital function and having it turned off all the time can certainly have negative effects. There are people irl that are born unable to feel pain and it usually doesn't work out well for them.
  12. There's a wob that talks about how all shardblades (and presumably ancient fabrials, now) are made wita mix of tanavastium and korravarium, since spren come from both
  13. I don't think that's too much of a factor in whether someone can become a squire. There are still windrunner squires running around I believe, even when the honorspren weren't interested in bonding
  14. There's definitely a connection to Nalthian magic. That's part of why it's relatively easy to change between these two systems. I think color is a universal property of cosmere magic, and we see it manifest more easily in these two systems, with the color drainage of awakening and the gemstone colors of surgebinding
  15. This is an incredibly minor thing, but I don't know why people keep overlooking the fact that Venli was also a radiant awake during the occupation. It bothers me way more than it should lol
  16. I have a half-baked theory that Progression creates a temporary connection to cultivation, which is why it can wake radiants. Based on Venli and Lift, radiants with a connection to another shard can stay awake, but since this is only temporary it has to be renewed. If this is true, it could explain why it worked for Lift, who has a stronger connection to cultivation
  17. It's a closed thread anyway, even if we could move it. But yes, people should absolutely look through it. Maybe we could make a new thread meant to be a continuation and just link the original?
  18. It's certainly possible, but I don't think it's the only possibility. I mean it's been something like 10000 years since the shattering I think? We know there are worldhoppers, so I'd be surprised if terms from shardworlds hadn't ever spread to other shardworlds since then. And here's the theory. It's from 2015, before we even knew for sure that Ralkahest was aluminum. By @Moogle. No idea if they're still active here It was from this thread about anti-investiture which was very fun to read through in light of recent revelations.
  19. Feruchemy is, and I suppose arguably hemalurgy, but not allomancy. Allomancers basically can use metal as a conduit to access the investiture of Preservation. And since we know you can power Feruchemy with outside investiture through compounding, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a way (albeit a more complicated way) to do this with other forms of investiture.
  20. I definitely the ending is gonna be on par with [Mistborn spoilers]
  21. I dunno. When it comes to names at least, Scadrial tends to be pretty french in orgin and this is definitely not a French-sounding word. Then again, neither is skaa. I'm inclined to think selish at the moment, though t would make sensethat if this really is a widespread term that it didn't orginate the first place we heard it. So hard to say. Also I found a very interesting theory about why aluminum is the way it is on an old thread. (Old enough that we didn't know ralkahest was aluminum). Should I share that here? Or would that be too off-topic? It might help push the discussion in directions people wouldn't have thought of otherwise
  22. To me, it seems like the fabrial is specifically attuned to smother honors investiture, meaning there are two ways to overcome it. One, connection to a shard other than honor. We see this in Lift and Venli. There are a lot of others I'd assume could resist it on this axis to some degree as well. Renarin and now Rlain. Wit. The other way seems to be to overpower it to a degree where it doesn't matter what the intent of your investiture is because it's so much. 4th ideal radiants like Jasnah fall under this category, probably the honor blades, and it's possible that Dalinar as a bondsmith would as well. The windrunners, having access to the pure surge of honor, seem to fall in this category which is why they were stirring, but didn't have enough power to overcome it. Navani seems like she, as the Sibling's bondsmith, would probably be a bit of both. (Tangent: there's one other piece of evidence: That using the surge of progression on someone wakes them up. I posit that using progression on someone temporarily connects them to cultivation, which is why it can wake them up, why it needs to be renewed, and why that surge worked for Lift when Abrasion didn't.) So the question is, where does Kaladin fall? The Golden Eyes mentioned in one scene could be an indication that he's invested by Odium to some degree, enough to overcome the suppression. We've also seen Kaladin do some powerful stuff that others can't, and is referred to as the "Son of Tanavast" by the stormfather, which may indicate that even without the fourth ideal he for some reason has enough investiture to overcome it. I'm more inclined to believe the second, as it ties together multiple loose ends. The question is, why?
  23. Yeah it was mentioned in the book that Adhesion is purely of honor, unlike every other surge. I'm guessing bondsmiths would wake up too, but we didn't really have a good way to test that. As for why Kaladin was awake when the other windrunners weren't, I'm guessing it's because he was so close to the 4th ideal. Either that, or it's related to whyever the Stormfather calls him the child of Tanavast
