  1. Welcome, welcome BobbyZee so happy to have you come join us! A new fan as well, boy have you stuck the goldmine I can definitely feel you on the not reading anything else (I mean do we really even need anything else?) I feel like I would be content just looping Sanderson novels into eternity! Yes a Sanderson Obsession (clinically SO) is actually quite a normal and curable disease. The fix actually happens to be reading more Sanderson if you can believe it or not. One of those reverse psychology things Lol we all feel you on that so you are in the perfect spot! So awesome that you happened to find us as well (although we may need to update our camouflage then) the Shard is an amazing place full of awesome work! Oh and reading every single chance you get in every single spot you can is actually a quite common side effect of SO I can completely feel you there! The books are absolutely amazing! But yes, I would agree making sure the kids stay fed might be just a tad bit more important (or maybe just tangentially important ). How did you first get introduced to Sanderson?
  2. Welcome to the Shard JonBob! Quite the excellent name I must say Awesome you've been taking the plunge into the Cosmere this year and that you found both Shardcast and came to join here! We are delighted to have you join! While younger brothers don't always have the answers they can get some good ideas sometimes. You discovered him first though ofc! That is quite the list there you are most definitely prepared! The ever-expanding aspect of the Cosmere and the way each new piece of information gives so much more context to every old piece of information is totally one of the best parts I so agree! It's like all the big movie franchises in a way where you learn as you grow and is what makes these books all the more amazing! You defiantly have an amazing two weeks laid out for you as well with RoW and Mistborn that sound great Have you read any non-Cosmere works? Look forward to seeing you around!
  3. Welcome to the Shard! man if you haven't been on the fanzine you've been missing out, so happy to have you join us! If you've been reading for years then this is the perfect time to join! Getting in right on time We are so with you on the loving his work and the extreme excitement for RoW! Great to have another Sanderson lover join our ranks and so hope you enjoy the Shard as well! What was the first book in the Cosmere that you read and do you wish you had started elsewhere? And man for tips Honorless and Ghander nailed it!
  4. Welcome to the Shard GreyHive! That was quite the suggestion you had I do so hope you can get it working or somewhat functional to perhaps be improved upon later! That sounds like excellent preparation and you are done just in time! So happy to have you join us as well you are sneaking it in under the wire I like your style I would agree with Bearer following people for the Status updates is a great way to get involved. I would also pop about in the Community section you can always find tons of interesting discussion going on there! If you had to remove every book but one from existence which book of Brandon's would you save? Look forward to seeing you around!
  5. Ooh alright so like friend of a friend and an actual friend Lol nah good choices I agree! Welcome again and hope you enjoy your time on the Shard!
  6. Welcome the Shard! Amazing to have you join up with us! Taking advice from an older sibling. Incredible! Well done in waiting a few years though, can't let them think it was that good of a suggestion Lol I would most definitely say they deserve a prize though, giving you the Cosmere is like getting a winning lottery ticket! So awesome you have been enjoying Shardcast and decided to come join. We may be biased but we would say this is the best spot to be! It would be awesome to have some more Cosmere geekers to geek the geeker geek out with geeks (... yeah let's just skip that part ). This is for sure the place to dive into the Cosmere and we look forward to your theories and geeking out on the Cosmere with you as well! What's your favorite series?
  7. Welcome to the Shard! So happy to have you join us especially if you've been an esteemed lurker! It is most definitely the perfect time to join with RoW coming out! I think we can all feel you on the wanting someone to talk Cosmere with too. Amazing you even have a few irl friends to talk with and hope you make many more friends on here as well! We look forward to being able to chat with you too! And yes, excitement and impatience for Tuesday is at an all time high Who you would choose to be your best friend, if you could choose anyone in the Cosmere? Look forward to seeing you around!
  8. Welcome to the Shard! We are delighted to have you come over here and join us! I would most definitely say this is the best place to be (may be a tad biased being here and all tho )! Look forward to talking about the Cosmere with you as well! If you could choose one character from the Cosmere to be, who would you choose?
  9. That sounds like the perfect sign to me too! I would have to say I agree with that Stormlight favorite! It is just so massive it is absolutely amazing to read. The fact that you have so many characters and sub stories and plots going on all in these massive books in a massive series in an entire universe of other stories is just like WOH You're absolutely welcome! It totally makes sense to put in in multiple like a text you just don't really think about it until someone lets you know! I do my best Oof yeah I feel on the real world things. Almost wish you could get two days each day, one for Sanderson stuff and one for other life stuff. Like c'mon what's with this! And yes I might follow you on the Thanksgiving timing so I can be sure I have time to read it all at once. Yes I would be most intrigued to see how you can read it upside down or in other languages! You let me know As for favorite Cosmere character I don't think I can choose just one but I would say one of my favorites that we don't see that often is Lirin. He seems really down-to-earth and practical. He doesn't really get drawn into conflicts unless it is really necessary and I think he did a good job of guiding Kaladin to become the person he came to be. Welcome again!
  10. Oh alrighty tighty yeah those most definitely qualify under the explore and/or shoot people category! So sad they stopped doing updates for Battlefront. Honestly game still has a lot of potential left. Fallen Order was pretty solid as well. Def on the explore things side. The sequel on the new consoles should be pretty epic because the current graphics were already pretty dang good. Lol well good to realize that! Yes final season was excellent I'm so glad they went back to it. It's a shame it took so long and the Disney acquisition even stopped it in the first place but good they got back to it. Hmm interesting yeah I could see that they all kindof fit into the stereotypes of their character. At the same time tho it's showing clowns who aren't just your normal bread and butter so that was kindof cool. YESS last like 10 minutes were just WOW so agree. Cool, cool yeah honestly I can lean flamingo some days too and elephant the next I feel. Honestly just embrace it the flamingo however it may be just makes you all the more interesting Welcome again and hope you have an excellent time on the Shard!
  11. Welcome to the Shard Mystic! We are delighted to have you make an introduction so we can get you properly welcomed (and ofc I'ma read it don't be silly )! Burning country, natural destruction, and old guys in charge. Seems pretty accurate I shall do my best to not ask you your gender later because I have read this and will totally absolutely remember with... my rock solid... uh... wait what were we talking about here? Lols so awesome you have friends that actually suggested the Shard to you they are most definitely keepers! We most definitely have a very active role play community here so you will fit right in! Let me know if you want me to ping anyone to help you get started. Writing, drawing, and fantastic ideas sound perfect. Even if you aren't digital yet would still love to see some of your art once you get more comfy! I can totally feel you on the pianoing (just making up words here don't mind me) to get out of other boring work. And videogames too all the way. Yes life does most definitely have a way of taking us off of these with all these "important activities" though I feel you on the drowning in work. Which games do you play most? And wow yes so agreed Sanderson is excellent for just bringing you down out of normal life and into something amazing. SO agree on Clone Wars and ATLA as well wow you're liking copying my interests exactly! What did you think of the final Clone Wars season? Personally I feel they should have done a couple more seasons but hopefully the pick that vibe up with The Bad Batch and some more. And yes going back on old shows now is just like ooh the nostalgia lol. We have a whole bunch of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on here as well so you will fit right in! We look forward to getting to know you as well! Weirdos and geeks make the most interesting people and you are most definitely not alone on here. How would you rate your weirdness on a scale from elephant to flamingo? Most definitely hope you remember your account so we can see you around more! Welcome again!
  12. Oh no way awesome! I'm sure they would be glad to know their list was working wonders. Whoever made sure it got there most definitely deserves a medal as well! Hope you enjoy your time on the Shard!
  13. Welcome to the Shard! Syl-ly! Hah! I'm dying rn (no literally the actual dying that was just too punny. Ok now I'm actually dying many apologies ). I can't believe that wasn't taken good snag! 2012 makes you a long time fan indeed! And yes the RoW hype is reaching all time highs! Dang well, at least Dawnshard got you half a day in there. Maybe try reading again but backwards or upside down to keep the pace lower?? But hey, if it got you to come join us all the better I say! What's your favorite series? Oh and as a step in your full welcomeness we gotta slap you with "you did something wrong" to really make the welcomeness warm fuzzies fit . Lol no biggie but mods prefer if you don't double post. You can tap the plus icon next to Quote on multiple peoples posts to quote them all in one mega post! So happy to have you join the community and look forward to learning from your amazing self as well!
  14. Welcome to the Shard Gyirin! We may be a tad biased being here and all but I would most definitely agree the Shard is the friendly place to be! So happy to have you come join us! I totally agree with Experience, wolfs and watermelon is the perfect combo. The double double-u (say that ten times fast )! You are right with us all on waiting on the edge of our seat for RoW (besides those of us that fell off the seat ) and if you've been a Sanderfan for you two years now it is the perfect time to join! How did you first get introduced to Sanderson? Let us know if you have any questions!
  15. Absolutely that's what we're here for! It's more intuitive to put it in multiple so you just don't really think about it until someone lets you know Totally fine and glad you got it, it can be a little confusing that first time but after it makes sense! You are totally welcome! So glad you are enjoying and hope your time only gets better!
  16. Oh yeah ok so just something happening over time cool. And yeah that does sounds quite rare and likely really interesting to get to see! Yeah that makes compete sense there's probably a million factors that go into it. Oh and interesting so the lighting is igniting it but climate change causing drier climates creating greater amounts of dry fuel for the fire is exacerbating this. Oh and no way wow that is a massive increase! Yeah there's some proof right there dang! That's honestly so crazy that we can do that now. It makes complete sense, just the fact that it is actually possible is awesome! Interesting as well there is already a sort of guide for what works best for the different test scenarios as well. That separation of the images is exactly what you need right so it'll define the separate parts. Ohhh and the randomization makes total sense cool that is awesome! Yeah that way you can apply the method you developed to very different data sets cool stuff! That's mighty convenient. I honestly woulda been less surprised if you said it had opposite colors or something just because when is anything ever easy like that That's awesome though for that color recognition because then you can easily label and analyze the images! That would be so awesome actually! Like indirectly studying something just as important so they could make even more informed decisions about which works the best for restoring the landscape. And yeah if you could find that factor that's creating that difference it would most definitely be like saving the species there in a way! Honestly that sounds like exactly where you want to be! Positioning yourself with all of those skills and the firsthand experience that came with them will make you all of the more qualifed for wherever you go from there. Good luck finishing it off as well it sounds like a really awesome project, both the skills it has taught you and the work that you are doing has applications way beyond just this as well. And oof, true yeah but hopefully it works out for you as good as it can be!
  17. You got it! At least get Warbreaker in there totally and then see if you got time! Huh alright yeah I can totally see that Pattern could get a little creepy sometimes Alright and no Syl as well sounds like Ivory is the one for you (at least for now!). Those are most definitely some excellent surges to choose! Welcome again!
  18. Oh darn not another one! Occasionally when transferring consciousness the sentient becomes unable to perceive the form of the host. Well... guess we'll just have to pull the plug and start over I can totally agree the "awesome" part of it is so simple but so perfect for it lol. And no way, alright yeah if quite characters are your thing then Pattern definitely makes sense to bond! Oh and I was just about to hit you with a "no double posts plz" but see you got it in your edit note! Quoting in an edit is quite a finicky process for all so not a big deal this first time. If it is not working quote someone regularly and copy that quote from the normal box to the edit box. You can also use the quote box " " " on the toolbar and just copy paste their wording their and tag them so they see it. If it really doesn't work just tag them as you write so they know you were responding to them and that way you can be sure to keep it all in one post! Welcome again!
  19. Welcome the Shard Archo! So happy to have you join us! Excellent guesses, the scientific naming is actually Shardpeoplecosmeraniansshardiansmaximussharders but as Chasmgoat put we just use Sharders for brevity (entirely a joke lol it's just Sharders ) I so agree with you on the WoR favorite! I always love it because you really see the characters start to come into their roles and do big dawg stuff finally lol but you are super right the pacing is really perfect. Even more agree on OB too! Finding all the pieces of Dalinar's past was awesome! And I believe in you on Warbreaker and Elantris! Just activate your super speed I mean c'mon And an audiobook lover to boot you are perfect for us! Out of all the Spren we have seen so far who would you most desire to have bonded you? Let us know if you have any questions!
  20. You are alive!! Good, good was getting a little worried for a bit there. Implanting human consciousness into turtles is quite a new process- er, I mean of course you're alive that process is 100% safe A book favorite of Edgedancer and a character favorite of Pattern! I like the originality I don't think we've gotten those at all before! Interesting also that lift isn't your favorite liking Edgedancer and all. What aspect of Edgedancer do you like best? If you could bond any Spren we have seen so far would you choose Pattern? Let us know if you have any questions and welcome to the Shard!
  21. Ooh I would have to agree with you on the Stormlight fave! Literally the same reasons too. The way it's massive and yes fits together so well is just perfect! Like every single part of it feels so real and fluid and yet it's literally covering this gargantuan story in all different places with tons of characters. It truly is masterfully done! And yeah the way everything is interconnected is the cherry on top. Not only do you have this massive book but it's part of a massive books series that's also part of a massive story universe. Like dang! So agree with you here! Ok and because we know it makes your welcoming experience all the more enjoyable we gotta tell you did something wrong Lol no biggie but the mods prefer if you don't double post. You can tap the plus icon next to Quote on multiple peoples posts to quote them all at once and respond in one mega post! Let us know if you have any questions and hope you enjoy the Shard!

Oh my gorshness that's a lot programs. Dang I thought you were gonna say like one and maybe sometimes another Well done for figuring all that out and making this. It looks awesome!
  23. Absolutely! That's great you've gotten good recs from it. It's awesome when you find something you just completely love off someones suggestion Ooh cool yeah honestly me too. Been thinking about it fora while just haven't quite gotten the time yet. Ok and so agree of the Stormlight favorite. Literally for the exact same reasons too. "The scope and epicness" is I think the best description I've seen so far literally would describe it the same way Ooh and yeah the Wax & Wayne era as well nice! Welcome again!
  24. @Autobrecciation wow... THAT... was something. Ok first on the rock fact: Moho is actually a sick name lol. Dang I didn't even know that could happen! Is it bad that it has been thrust up or is that just something that happens? Green rock red speckles, alrighty well if I ever do see one I'll be sure to ping you Ok now on your thesis: Huhhhh that's interesting that they could come to that conclusion if the evidence for it really can't be proved. Seems mighty convenient to blame it on agriculture cuz no one wants to not eat! And that's actually really cool that you are continuing this research! Ohhh interesting, interesting. So wildfire naturally or human caused (accidents and global warming)? And neural network is like machine learning right with the layers of nodes and then they like process data and send it to the next layer and eventually come to result? Yknow honestly thought this wasn't a thing that's super interesting. I just saw an ad for this too with Adobe I think it was advertising that with photoshop. So you'll be doing essentially the same thing right taking satellite data and trying to upscale it so you can make comparisons? Ohhh and the drone is to get like "base" accurate images and then you will run the satellite images through along with this to train the neural network to upscale them to that fashion and then apply that to new stuff? So it is machine learning right just teaching it to upscale using drone images as reference. That's actually really smart that sounds awesome!! I never knew that about the different satellite class resolutions too! Makes complete sense though. That whole looking back in time is awesome too I so hope that works! So basically try to get these images upscaled, then compare what the land looks like in 1980 and 2020 to see how much fires have affected it and then compare that to the bird population right? Neat stuff! No problem for the essay lol super interesting to look at. So considering this does work what is the final goal? Like use this to advance forest management or as data on the result of global warming induced fires on bird populations? This sounds awesome! PM in future on how it's going I'm super interested in the results now
  25. Excellent question! Currently I can't get it out of bed. Normally stories get easier to work with as they get older but teenage stories are always a bit difficult. Start thinking they know everything and the like Lol thanks for asking! I will have the next part done by the end of the weekend if not sooner. "Important life activities" that the rest of the world does not think are just the Shard (I mean c'mon!) keep mucking up my timing but almost done at this point! Whispers back quietly, I would love to have you be my Shardbuddy! Hentient will be wonderful to storirize (totally a word don't worry about it )!
