  1. 1. We hire engaging teachers who keep zooms short and sweet. We make it easier for teachers to personalize their teaching while increasing transparency for critical analysis. We provide more learning opportunities for teachers to become more familiar with technology and useful teaching skills while teaching remote. 2. Teachers need to be just as engaged with their students as they expect their students to be to them. Being pro-active in making sure that every student feels acknowledged by the teacher can improve their desire to want to know what's going on. 3. Engaged parents are another factor for kids having the desire to engage in school. Parents need to be encouraged by the school systems to be more involved in their children's lives rather than less involved. At the end of the day at suppertime, when a parent asks something as simple as, 'what did you learn in chemistry today?' students feel not only that someone cares about what's going on in their life, but they are also more inclined to pay attention in chemistry next time so that they can relay information to their parents. This reminder of what they learned can also help them remember what they learned long term instead of just short term. Even though the student will probably sigh, and feel a bit frustrated at their parents for getting into their personal business, they'll learn to appreciate it in time. This is just one example of how parents can be more involved, there are many more. Parent involvement, even if small, can make a significant difference on the amount a student engages in school. If I may ask, from what perspective does this come from, student, parent, teacher, school board... person (I don't know the official name), or administrator? (this would help me better answer the question) Read more philosophy.
  2. How does one make deep friends?
  3. Number one seems very specific, but maybe too specific. It is likely the numbers are off and stick is just trying to trick us. 2 seems plausible for sure, my brother memorized the first 500 digits of pi, the question is whether or not Doomstick is likely to be the kind of person to spend that amount of time memorizing numbers. 3 is so likely it might be the wrong one. It seems so obvious that it could be true, that it could be the lie. I'm guessing 3
  4. "It is ok," Fox said softly. She did not want to be separated from her newly found father quite yet, so she added, "I think I will be ok. Perhaps I will look around a bit." She began to wander around, looking at the trees, though keeping an eye on father.
  5. Perhaps: Wasing the coming of waking and liking the stopping the dying the death on the the thread on the necro.
  6. "May I ask who's calling?" "Welcome to the show, hi this is Karen!" "We will try this now." *studio assistant* "You are not a duck. You are not a duck. You are not a duck." "QUACK QUACK QUACK" "I'm sorry, but your plan did not work. Do we have any other callers?"
  7. Ooh, public forum! I've never tried that, but I had friends who really enjoyed it. I do team policy debating (TP), which is similar-ish to PF. Yeah, I completely get that reason for dropping out. Debate research is sooo time consuming! My partner and I are piranha packing on monday, so this weekend is going to be crazy full of researching!! I wouldn't even call it a debate. I couldn't even watch the whole thing because it was so horrid, I had to turn it off. Last night's was much better, even if they did avoid answering some of the questions.
  8. Fox yelped when Nath went into the duel, she could see how it was straining on him. Afterwards, she walked up and placed a hand on his shoulder. Fox was proud of her father for his strength, but was worried that he would work himself too hard. Again. The hand she had placed on father's shoulder, she realized, was the bandaged one. It was aching, badly, but Fox would live. @Nathrangking
  9. Fox looked at the ground. So he openly admitted his failure, his weakness. He was too weak to bear through the pain. Fox wasn't sure what she thought of that. He was... he was being sincere. That was something she appreciated. That was... something valuable. She lifted her eyes to father's, love and gratefulness twinkling in her eyes. Just then, Nath lifted them off the ground, and Fox, staring into his eyes, realized that he wasn't looking too good. He looked so exhausted and weak. "Father," she said softly, "Don't push yourself too hard." Here Fox was blithering over her hurt feelings, while her father had put so much strength toward reaching out to her. She wasn't sure if she was ready for forgiveness, but Fox did realize her immaturity at not being able to. She would get there in time.
  10. Fox felt Nath in her brain, speaking to her, but she was not strong enough to join him. A genuine smile broke through the icy sheet of fear, dancing on the surface of Fox's lips. Yes, knives would be fun. But the smile faded when he spoke of oaths. She spoke out loud, in the real world, very quietly in barely a whisper, "Then..." she trailed off, unsure if she could really ask it. "Then why didn't you come for me?"
  11. Shall I tell the story of the dynasty of the Tweetys? Hm. I shall go for it. Tweety I She died an awful mysterious death. She was but a young chick (a baby chicken), and the only yellow one we had, so we were anticipating her growing up. At that time we had been using a type of dog crate to keep the chicks in. One day, there was a storm, pouring rain, lightning, tornado sirens, ya know, the normal storm stuffs. We weren't too worried about the chicks, but just in case, we ran out and checked when the sirens went off. There lay tweety, sprawled out, dying, and soaked, even though the entire rest of the cage was dry. Tweety II Disappeared without a trace. Tweety III Heatstroke Tweety IV Coyote Tweety V Heatstroke Tweety VI Mountain lion. Thus was the fall of the Tweety dynasty. We gave up on that name calling it the curse of the tweetys. So we tried naming our yellow chicks by another name, thus came the era of the Sunnys. Sunny I Heatstroke Sunny II Strangled by a rat Sunny III Disappeared without a trace Thus was the fall of the Sunny dynasty. We called it the curse of the sunnys. After that we gave up on naming our chicks who were yellow because we were sure they were destined to die. They did. It took us three years before we raised a yellow chick into chickenhood.
  12. Yes, if I hear one more sarcastic comment out of you, I will put troops on the ground in your home state.
  13. You should wake up and go to sleep with a smile on your face. You should eat healthily. You should go outside for thirty minutes and enjoy nature. You should clean your room. If it's already clean, bless your mother by cleaning the house for her. You should try your best at everything you do, no matter how tough. You should go and get a couple of graham crackers, and break them up into little pieces and put them into a bowl. Then, you should pour milk over it, and eat it like cereal. Hit me
  14. I decided to splurge this morning and spend a bunch of time on the Shard. For this reason you may not see me until tonight or tomorrow night for I now have to spend the rest of my day frantically doing homework. :P

But I will try to hop on during my lunch break. If I'm making good progress on my homework.

    1. Bearer of all agonies

    3. Condensation

      Condensation

Have fun! I'm totally not on during school.

My teacher let me on the chromebook, so now I'm doing whatever.

  15. You, Mr. Fadran, should be asking for advice on how often to go outside. How can one possible see no squirrels in a week? You sir need to get out of the house more. Well if you multiply amount of radishes with the amount of cats my grandmother owns, and add the square root of the speed of light by feet per second to that, and then subtract the amount of planets in the cosmere, you'll find the answer. Unfortunately, we don't have the number of planets in the Cosmere, so we will never know how many numbers are in the Alethi alphabet.
  16. Oh whoops, you are completely right, I misread someone's name I thought they had responded, sorry!
  17. Hello, friends! I thought this would be fun! Ask me for advice because I give... good... ish.... advice....... I give relationship advice, living advice, math advice, grammar advice, which books to read advice, health advice, everyday living advice, whatever advice, etc. etc. etc. There are no guarantees on quality control, so... take what I say with a grain of salt. Alright! Ask away!
  18. "Perfect! We will send some studio assistants in to figure it out." *studio assistant* What is this thing? What does this button do... *fa-shwoop* *studio assistant* Uhm... Help! *studio assistant 2* Here let me just help you out here, this button? *studio assistant* yup! *fa-shwoop* *studio assistant* Wow. You're my hero. three hours later... *studio assistant 349* This button? *studio assistant 348* that's the one *fa-shwoop* *studio assistant 349* Help! *low voice* oh, what's this? *studio assistant 349* press the button, I guess... *fa-shwoop* *low voice* Yes! I my hands and feet are back! *studio assistant 2* You've got to be kidding me. That's how it works? *static* "Congratulations, your plan worked! Although it did take us awhile and about three hundred of out studio assistants got their hands and feet mixed together, we got the right one eventually! Our next patient is a man who thinks he's a duck. Do we have any suggestions?"
  19. Hello, friends! As many of you know, I compete in many speech events as well as team policy debate, and I have found there are some very... unique situations that happen when participating in this kind of thing. For example, when you need to go to the bathroom really really really badly during a debate because you drank thirteen gallons of coffee because you decided to pull an all nighter working on your case, but you can't leave the round unless you want to waste all of the prep time you have left. Or, when you wake up in a room surrounded by moms with their arms crossed, to find that you've been captured by the Compliance Ninjas (a joke... mostly). Or, when you ascend from a research cave (or debate cave, depending on what you call it) and feel like Dr. Mannette being freed from prison from the first time in eighteen long years, barely coherent to society. Or, when you sprint all the way across a college campus (during a tournament) to your extemp room hoping and praying you get there in time because you misread the building names on the map and went to the wrong one. Just some purely hypothetical situations. What are some crazy things that have happened to you, my fellow speech and debaters? Do you like this year's debate resolution? Which is best, parli, Policy, Lincoln Douglas, or some other form of debate? What kind of speeches do you like best? Do you think they should bring back duo impromptu or trio interpretation speeches, or if they have them in your league, have you ever tried it?
  20. @Smye are you gonna post two truths and a lie?
  21. There would have been a time when Fox would have shrugged off those words as dead and empty things. Simply a way to make one feel better. But something about father made her hesitant. Even if he couldn't go through with his promise, like last time, he meant it. Was that enough? Fox wasn't sure. Nath had failed her before, but he also was quite injured at that time. Fox's fear did not go away, and she did not feel much better when her father swept her up. Her eyes were still wide with horror, and she moved over to cling tightly to father, not letting go even after they had landed. When she saw the knife in his hand, Fox almost reached out to grab it, but then decided against it for she was not confident in her ability to hold it steadily. Fox opened her mouth to speak to Fadran, but then closed it for fear of embarrassing herself with her trembling voice.
  22. The fear fluttered around in her stomach beyond that of mere butterflies, it was more like swarms of vultures sweeping down to devour her innards. It was overtaking her, she hated this so much, this raw emotion that she couldn't control. She wanted it to stop, anything for it to stop. Fox's eyes were distant, and when her father took her hands, she did not feel it immediately, it was as if she were experiencing her senses from through a door. She feebly raised her eyes to her father's. Fox was being so fickle, she was being so transparent, she was being so weak. She was looking weak in front of her father. Yet... his love for her was so evident. Father loved her even though she was weak and even though she was scared. Why? How? She did not have the strength to squeeze his hands back with her trembling fingers, but she did savor the warmth that radiated from his touch. He had said that she was safe now. That was a lie. That was always the lie. "I-I-I'll never be safe." Fox had meant for that to be said steadily, but it came out in a stuttered whisper, barely discernible from the soft breeze.
  23. Fox stared silently at the water, slowly comprehending father's words. She could feel the depression slipping in, slowly creeping back into her heart. Suddenly a hundred emotions struck her as violently as a lightning strike. Horror, grief, anger, hatred... love... fear.... Fox looked up from the water, her heart taken captive by an irrational terror, which became overwhelmingly evident on her face. She was so afraid. Why was she so afraid? Why did her brother seem so scary all of the sudden? Panic shot through Fox's body like pure adrenaline. She realized she was trembling like a leaf. No. She wouldn't be afraid. She wouldn't let herself be so weak. Fox set her jaw and began twirling one of her knives between her fingers, but it clattered to the ground. Fox stared at her hand. It was shaking. She couldn't stop it. She couldn't control it. Fox wanted to scream, but refrained, and took in a shaky breath.
