  1. I completely understand how exciting this is! I have had chickens for so many years, but getting them to lay the first time was so tedious and suspenseful. My sister just heard back from the insurance company, and our request for long term disability coverage has finally gone through!! Yay!
  2. "He... brother, was one of my demons?" Fox asked in shock and anger. "No, no it couldn't be." But as she spoke, she knew she didn't believe it. It made sense, that was why he had hurt her, that was why... oh storms it all made sense. No, she loved her brother, didn't she? "It, it couldn't be!" She insisted. She didn't want it to be true, it couldn't be true!
  3. Yess!! So good! How many squirrels did you see this week?
  4. Fox came out of the mindscape as she felt Nath... or... Father leave. As the haze cleared she could make out what he was saying. "I... yes, I think that would be best." She hated that she couldn't help, but, she was pretty sure she wouldn't be much of a benefit at this point. Fox turned her attention back to father. It seemed so natural to call him that in her mind, yet at the same time, so foreign. "I... do you know why Winter killed my brother?" She asked, but turned her stare to the water with pain filled eyes, her voice dripping with agony.
  5. I was hoping to use socratic format to show you this, but life is busy, so I'll go ahead and just explain it. Basically, the only reason we use science is because we've decided through logic and reasoning that the scientific method (a form of reasoning itself) is a fairly valid way to verify truth. So if the scientific method is a form of reasoning, then reason and logic is the most factual thing to mankind, not science.
  6. Change The children giggle, splashing each other with refreshing water. The cool river mud squishes between their toes and the warm sun shines on their backs, when suddenly, the beautiful shades of aqua blue begin to morph. The children shriek in horror in their haste to escape the river of blood.
  7. I actually really like this one! My drama director almost had us do a rendition of this last year, but then covid happened....
  8. Tears of a new emotion welled up in Fox's eyes. A small smile touched her lips. "Yes, father." Fox's emotions swelled with... gratitude and love. She could barely believe this was happening. Fox had finally found it, after all these years, she had found love. She did not care about the confusion, she did not care about her aching side, she did not care about the emotional anguish, for she had a real and wonderful father.
  9. "I... I never really had a father." Fox said quietly looking at her fidgeting hands.
  10. Yes, I know, I should know, that's what makes it all the worse! I'm normally super nitty gritty about this kind of stuff. Oof
  11. Why. She stares at her hands with undeniable horror etched into every detail of her expression, her inner conflicts trampling her like herds of wild boars searching for a drop of mud. Her confidence is destroyed by the presence of an etch, nay, thrice etches. Foiled again by the simple apostrophe. @DramaQueen
  12. Fox sat on the boat, her weary head resting on Nath's shoulder. She focused very hard and tried to send something through their bond again, though it seemed much easier than before when Winter had captured her. Perhaps because they were closer? Fox didn't know. After a couple of minutes of her eyebrows being scrunched up, she managed to get something through: talk... here? @Nathrangking
  13. Monster It was unlike anything they had ever seen before. The beast sat in the rounded cage, food uneaten and scattered. It's stomach grumbled, it's hair was greasy, and it's eyes were distant, but it did not care. The scientists stared at the monster eternally imprisoned, and I stared back.
  14. How many squirrels have you seen this week?
  15. "I-I..." Fox trailed off. How could she explain the tremendous mountain of confused thoughts and emotions she felt she had to defeat? How could she possibly put into words the storm of shame and anger and guilt that poured down on her in sheets of hail and sleet, stinging her skin and opening cuts on her face, preventing her from completing her trek? She couldn't. "I'm doing as well as can be expected," she responded ambiguously. "The demons..." she glanced at Circe for a moment, and then returned her attention to Nath. "No, I don't... think they've returned. At least, this one seems to be... different." Fox wasn't sure if she should tell Nath everything about this, she didn't want to hurt him any further... but last time she tried to hide something from him in order not to hurt him, things did not go very well. What was she to do?
  16. Fox clasped tightly onto Nath's hand with her good one, a silent stream trickling down her face. "Indeed," she responded distantly in a quiet voice. When Fadran brought the steaming bowls of soup into the medbay, Fox's stomach grumbled, she hadn't realized how hungry she had been. Her hand became a whirlwind, spoon flying and soup nicely making its way home, it was deliciously perfect. When she could no longer use a spoon, she took to licking out the insides. There would be no drop left behind, in fact, even though she had eaten the bowl of soup in something like ten seconds, Fox did not leave a mess, there was not a single drop of soup on the ground or on her face. She was an expert in this kind of thing.
  17. If you're asking for my opinion, I believe that it is possible to know objective truth. And then, @Ixthos, you articulate much better than I, and I approve of your reasoning for the points brought up! I'm super busy right now, but I'll try to participate as much as I can when I have time
  18. This is reminding me a lot of Immanuel Kant's teachings, who said that we kant know the truth. (I'm so funny, aren't I?) So, the proposed claim on the table is as follows: "It is impossible to know the truth" My questions is this: Is that true? Is is true that it is impossible to know the truth?
  19. Fox sighed, wishing the perfect moment would never end, and responded, "Yes, perhaps that would be best." Though she did not pull away, either.
  20. Fox's tears increased as Nath and Circe embraced her, and she smiled softly. Everything was going to be okay. For the first time in a very long time, Fox realized she had a love for the softness of these things called hugs. She should've given them a better chance. Two words escaped Fox's lips in something that could barely be called a whisper. Fox didn't know if Nath would hear her, and she didn't care. "Thank you."
  21. Why do we use the scientific method? Why is it good? Alright. So what you're saying, is that we have no proof that truth exists, but we should believe that it will come someday? So what we believe determines truth? Do you believe it's possible for us to know the truth now, or will we have to wait to see if what we believe is true or not?
  22. "It... It was strength?" Fox whispered incredulously, silent tears finding their way down her face. "I... but then... I..."
  23. Fox opened her mouth to speak, Nath looked so... concerned. He seemed to actually value Fox's wellbeing, so she would tell him. "I..." But when she opened her mouth and began to speak, the shame doubled over inside her. She couldn't bring herself to ask it. No. No, she would be strong enough. But she was so confused, what if Nath had been the... no. No, Fox would not go down that path again. She would simply have to trust Nath. Lifting her eyes back to Nath's, Fox asked quickly and quietly, "Why did I try to kill myself?" The shame turned to rage at herself for a moment, and she felt herself gripping the knife tightly.
  24. Ok, I think I understand now. Am I understanding correctly to assume that your presented claim is: We cannot know the truth, but we can only know what we perceive truth to be. Is scientific law the most factual thing known to mankind? How did we come to the conclusion that science is factual? To be clear, you are saying that we should have faith that truth exists, because eventually, things will prove it to exist? And then about the pain thing... if I felt like the greatest pain is emotional at 1:40 p.m. today, would it be true for all people at all time that at 1:40 pm on October 14, I felt like the greatest pain would be emotional, or would it (Scarletfox believes the greatest pain to be emotional) only be true for me? How do we know that the statement "truth comes with time" is true? Or should we simply accept it on faith?
