I have a similar problem. I did find Marissa Meyer's The Lunar Chronicles to be a fascinating series, although the magic system wasn't that keenly developed. Brandon Sanderson was my first real look into good world building-- I haven't yet found an author that is even in his league, so... I get your problem for sure. I know this isn't a book, but I personally really liked the Avatar: the Last Airbender magic system. I guess also... storms. Here I thought I was a reader and now I can't think of any good fantasy books beyond sando's, ahaha Ooh, also, try not to double post

What was Circe doing? How could this woman already love Fox? This wasn't fair. It was too easy. It couldn't be real. It was too good to be true. Her... somebody from her past used to always say, 'if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.' The words themselves also sounded good and all, but would they actually work? Only time would tell. "How do I know people will value my emotion, and not reject it? Or worse, they dismiss mine opening up as something that happens every other day, when they do not know the emotional struggle it took for me to tell them my true feelings."

Rubrum was surprised to feel the girl pulling away to the side. How interesting. A challenge. Rubrum hummed a few notes and found herself landing her fall with a roll right in front of Akii. Rubrum stood, smiled, and spoke in her true voice, which was still relatively high pitched and sickeningly sweet, "Oh I'm not planning on leaving anytime soon. I need something first.”

"Yeah!" Rubrum said enthusiastically, though she very much cared about winning, inside the rules, or not.

Rubrum took a few steps while humming, and added a few words to the tune here or there to give just enough power to..... yes. Rubrum stepped right through the fabric of space onto the tower with the child. Rubrum immediately went barreling into Akii, pushing her off the ledge and sending them both plummeting toward the ground.
