  1. I can’t see the responses on the form Also, this might have already been done, but I nominate @Nathrangkingfor best poet
  2. I have some really bad news, but then some really good news that cancels out the bad news. So basically, my sister (who got disabled because of covid in march) got covid... again! We were all really really scared because she's finally been making some progress lately and has been able to walk all on her own, we were scared that she might relapse and all the progress we made over the last six months would be in vain, We were also worried that she might die because she wouldn't be able to get into hospitals again (they wouldn't let her in or see her last time because she had covid, and this majorly contributed to her having such lasting side effects, she didn't get the medication she needed early on). She and her husband got covid, and to prevent spreading it to the rest of us, because we have many high risk at my house, they moved out of the house for a couple of days. I got nominated as being the most likely to have been exposed, because I'm her care-taker, and got kicked out of the house as well. I spent almost the entire Christmas week all by myself in a hotel, I mean it had a kitchen which was really awesome, but it was still pretty lonely. Then another sister got sick, one who is scheduled to go to another country to teach in a few weeks. We actually don't think she has covid since she's gotten several negaive tests, but to be safe we kicked her out as well. I got out of the hotel on Christmas day and was able to see a few members of my family on Christmas, but all of our christmas plans were canceled. Everything about life during Christmas week felt like it was crashing down (again). BUT this is where the good news begins My (disabled) sister has recovered from having covid again, almost completely! She has no lasting side effects this time, and has lost almost no progress! This is a huge blessing and we're all very happy. We also figured out that we are going to be able to have Christmas after all! We're having it on Thursday, masked, outside, and around the campfire in what's forecasted to be freezing rain, but what matters is that we're still having it! My other sister is recovering, and will come to the outside Christmas just very far away (my plan is to chuck gifts at her). I'm just happy, because against all odds, I will still get to have Christmas with my family!
  3. Fox followed, looking, fascinated, at the castle. She heard the beautiful and familiar noise of the wind through the trees, this was her place - among the trees with her father, sneaking along to do some secret mission. She felt... at home. This was right, somehow.
  4. The Shadow felt something more now, something that she could register... It was... pain. Searing pain streaking through her right cheek, short and stinging yet lasting more than it should be. Her eye fluttered open and she saw a blurry figure. Someone who was hurting her. Her eye widened, screaming with panic, even though she couldn't see quite right. Adrenaline surged through her like electricity. Who was this? What this someone from the Anarchist come to finish her off? Someone sent from the Lord-son-son... someone sent from that guy trying to enslave her once more?
  5. Also, Fox in just sort of tagged along and glared at people the entire time you were gone, so nothing new there xD
  6. I nominate @Aon-CHRISTMAS-Ene admin for being awesome all around!! (Sorry to ping you again) Awww thank you!!! This literally made my day.
  7. The Fox gracefully maneuvered through the forest, following her father and Vale. Ah, she missed this, it had certainly been much too long, Hopefully she would get the emotional break she needed. Fox looked lovingly at her father, feeling, good feeling, flowing through her. She didn't deserve a father like him, but she wasn't going to complain. A smile danced on her lips.
  8. You cannot say that you were not warned of the consequences of this
  9. Hello, friends! I thought this might be fun to do, if you have something you want to get better at this year and want some accountability, here's the place to talk about it! For me, I'm going to start budgeting every dollar every month using Every Dollar. What are y'all's new years resolutions?
  10. Through the slumber, very very faintly, the Shadow could feel... something. But she could not put her finger on it. Some movement that disturbed her comfort.
  11. The Shadow tried to struggle when the strange (hopefully not hallucinated) person placed something on her, but she was just so tired. Her body tried to cough again, but she was just so tired, so it turned more into a wheeze. Everything was blurry, but she could do this. She had to... get out... Everything went black.
  12. The Shadow continued to crawl, stopping every couple feet to begin coughing once more. She could hear very little, and what she could see was blurry, but... Was that? No, it couldn't be. It looked like a person ahead of the Shadow, but she must have just been hallucinating. @Sambews
  13. There was a flash and thunderous boom. The Shadow flew through the air smashing into a wall and cracking it, thumping to the ground a moment later. For a few seconds she couldn't feel anything, until her eyes drifted open… her eye. It seemed that one of her eyes was refusing to open. Everything was so bright, and she couldn't hear anything but a ringing in her ears. The bright light slowly came into focus... fire. Everything... was on fire. The Shadow soon gained awareness of a searing pain in her shoulder, some of the worst she had ever experienced. Still dizzy, she blinked a few times and tried to look at the damage. Her arm was... not where it was supposed to be. In fact, it was not attached at all. Looking back up at the chaos and fire, the Shadow remembered where she was and what she had been doing. She didn't see the... person she was talking to before. The bomb wasn't supposed to... The Anarchist! By the Lord Ruler that little storming piece of useless trash. When the Shadow got her hands on him! Her hands... her hand clenched into a fist. But no... revenge later. For now the Shadow needed to focus on one thing: survival. She pulled herself up by her one good arm. The Shadow's legs were unsteady, but sturdy enough to be used. She stumbled through the room, coughing as her lungs filled with smoke. She leaned against a wall for a moment, the heat of it burning through her skin, but she didn't care, she needed to rest for a second. The Shadow was going to get through this. She knew that there was a door in this general direction, she just had to get to it.... *BLAFJKDLAMMMM* A piece of flaming... something came crashing down in front of her, blocking off any chance of escape. This… this was it. The Shadow was done, and she hadn’t even gotten through one guild. Pathetic. She reached into her sleeve and retrieved her beloved little blade, turning it over in her hands. It was over. She fell into another fit of coughing from the smoke. Just then, the Shadow felt something cool, or, less warm, brush against her cheek. Air. Dang it, how did she miss it earlier? There had to be a hole in here somewhere, a place where she could get out. She heard a rumble, the building was shifting, which meant the Shadow had to get out as soon as possible. She ran in the direction she felt the air from, searching for anything, any chance, and saw it. A little hole, tiny, maybe big enough for her to crawl through? There would only be one way to find out. The Shadow dove at the hole, scrambling through what might be her last chance. The heat again burned her back as she tried to get through the hole, but she made it! The hole led into a windy alleyway. The Shadow started coughing, gagging on the smoke… again. This was not good. She needed help. The Shadow crawled through the mud in the alley toward… something. Anything.
  14. As the bars came down the Shadow immediately tensed moving into a defensive position. She felt her heartbeat and adrenaline rising, she didn't expect a trap to be so blatant, she just didn't want to turn her back on a stranger. For good reason, too, as it turned out. She turned deftly to see the 'friends' to analyze the situation. You fool, getting stuck in a basement like this surrounded by enemies. The Shadow knew that things did not look good. She pulled out two eight inch obsidian knives from her boot, her left hand brushing against something hard in her boot, a device she had put there that she had almost forgotten about. For half a second she considered it, calling the ghostbloods for help, but no, that would not go over well with anarchists she was working with currently, who didn't even know she was working with the ghostbloods. Then again, if the ghostbloods took out the trader's heaven for her... well that would be nice. Maybe they could get the anarchists too-- no more time to think, the opportunity passed. The Shadow ran, jumped, and stabbed the first guy she met just to the left of his heart. Gah, why did she have to be that way. Using the momentum of the knife she swung her legs forward and kicked another guy, dressed as a customer, right in the face, then being unable to stop her momentum, she landed right on top of him. She scrambled up to face the rest of them, but there were just so many.
  15. You did really really well considering the circumstances, I doubt I could have kept my cool as you did! *hugs*
  16. Hello, friend! Welcome to the shard! What is your favorite non-sanderson book?
  17. When you find a bent coin on the ground, and immediately look around for coinshots.
  18. Wasing the wishing of having on the all. Wasing the wishing the alling wasing the being of learning of saying the say. Notting the learning, causing the wasing the sadding.
  19. Oh that's cool! So it's kind of like Policy debate, but in a team and everyone's on the same side. Yes, I'm fairly certain I've heard of that, or at the very least, I've heard of things like that. Also, forgot to do this earlier, but welcome to the club!
  20. Tamales, fresh tamales from one of those little mexican markets. To pass a mandate forcing everyone's hands to be cut off and replaced with wooden spoons. The city would be gone in no time. A very large vat.
  21. Thanks! Interesting story about the creation of Fox, actually. So, when I created Fox (or the fox, at the time), I wanted to make an embodiment of me, which is why I joined the fellowship. I was going to introduce her into the Alleyverse actually, but I ended up with the Shadow, who is definitely not the embodiment of me at all. So I joined the fellowship instead with Fox. It turns out that who I thought I was at that time really wasn't accurate, and so the Fox has become really the embodiment of all my darkest thoughts, fears, and depressions. I don't think I was ever as dark as she was, but it sure felt like it at the time. The reason I really like Fox, and the reason that it will be awhile before I give her up, is because she is sort of a symbol for me of a mind demon defeated. Someone I used to be, a place that I came out of. @Ookla the Scandalous Wow, where do I start? It feels like just yesterday I happened upon this, what to the cool kids call it, this forum. When I knew nobody and everyone was so scary and knowledgable about Sanderson. Meeting you and realizing how much we had in common made me feel comfortable and relaxed, and I feel like it's just gotten better from there. You are one of my best friends, I have loved getting to know you.
