Anniversary Game 7/Anonymous Game 9: From Embers, A Flame
|TJ| replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'll probably use a bunch of different stuff like voting out or elimination for lynch; mis-read or mis-judge for mis-lynch. X or mis-X or even exe sounds too weird for me.- 1222 replies

Good game guys! Congrats to the elims, and impressive first games for Archer and Liranil! Thanks Straw, for running it.

Yeah that's what I meant by unblockable kills. Regular elim kill + Illumination assist from teammate.

Okay replying to all the stuff from when I went to sleep: @Furamirionind Okay this is being said for the second time and I'm replying for the same thing again, not sure how you missed my actual reasoning as it's on the same page as this post. The reason I find SfS suspicious is not because of bandwagoning. SfS then ignores this reasoning, gives no response to this suspicion and tells he'd prefer a vote on me. I'd ask everyone who is not reading SfS as suspicious, what is the plan/idea/point behind claiming a Blade, then immediately, in his very next post (and just 1 post after his post in the thread), he claims to want to draw the kill of elims? Why tell the plan immediately then? Why create unnecessary IKYK situations, when IKYK situation only confuses the village as elims have a lot other players they can choose to kill. Explain how it makes sense from village!SfS point of view. Books and Lotus vote in succession on Experience. I particularly do not like how Books' vote looks at all: Lotus feels like an elim too, but she's feels too suspicious to be an elim. Okay, this is the second time that someone has wrongly stated my reads in the game (Illwei, looking at you ), I don't know what's up with that. I don't state null in my posts at all. I read Quinn village and Experience as elim at the time of last reads posts. I still read Quinn as village, she seems like she did in MR46. I have not gone through elim!Quinn's thread activity in QF48, though I did check the elim doc, so I should do that to see the differences. Alone this doesn't look like much, but since I found the vote on Experience off, this sentence looks performative by Books: I might have to ISO Books as I found their earlier posts as village. I believe this vote was to see if there was a response to the suspicion? The voting itself is un-Devotary-istic as they always vote for the main lynches at the end of cycles. That alone doesn't warrant suspicion, however it does remove the village read I had on them. Especially since they mentioned not feeling great about Lotus' reason to vote on Experience but Books seems fine, whereas both had somewhat similar reasons to vote on Exp. Experience being the Pailiah Bearer reduces the possibility of Mat being WGG, because then it would require elim!Vedel to have used PMs in D1 and Progression in N1, which I find unlikely. Kaladin to remove a vote on Quinn makes no sense. I'd imagine Gravitation is more important as it can act as an indirect Blade Scan, and getting Blades is their alternate wincon. Kaladin!Quinn could have been extra careful and removed a vote to account for any possible late votes on here. I'm not sure of what happened here. I'd like to ask the Shaman to compare the lists of last cycle and this cycle to find Pailiah's Blade Bearer. Only if you're extremely sure of the Bearer, leave it in their hands. If you're not, please reclaim it, as it gives elims unblockable kills, and immunity to scans.

I believe Experience is village, and so is Elandera. I'm not so sure of Illwei. I think I asked earlier about her reaction to Quinn's retraction seeing as it incited nothing from her side. Since a villager voting on someone who retracted their vote as a sacrifice of some sort would put doubts about the villager in the voter's mind too, so I'm surprised Illwei stuck with Quinn till the end. I tried to wait till Araris voted to see if it would fuel or dampen my suspicion on him. As it stands, that shift from Experience to SfS looked odd and the insistence on voting for Experience appears odd as well. Voting of Gears is easy, but voting for someone who's voting for Gears is becoming easier as well.
-
No? My main reason is that I can't see your actions from a village perspective. Reasons from N1: So no, I don't find you suspicious for not bandwagon-ing. And 'jump' seems quite excessive, considering that I'm the first person to be voting for you.

Lmao this is fun xD My elim suspect pool consists of Gears, Lotus, Experience, and Somebody from Sel. Reasons stated during N1.

My main point against you is the third one. The vote hopping specifically when the player is leading to be voted out. We vote because we want to kill the person we are voting for, while your voting seemed like you were avoiding to kill the person you were voting for. The first vote removed was by Quinn. Quinn flipped village.
-
I wouldn't recommend to stop playing. You'll only get better by playing more. And reads are not so important. They're definitely helpful but a strong accusation on one suspect is better than giving reads and telling "Null" on everyone. It's not that you're not giving reads. I can't remember any sort of thoughts you shared on the game.
-
First off, rollover period is early morning for me, so I cannot be involved in any late voting shenanigans. Second, when I voted, no one had more than one vote on them, making me the first person to vote on someone who already had a vote on. So if you're hinting at me hiding in side-trains, I wasn't. Third, and most important thing that makes me suspect you - First, you voted for Gears, a player easy to vote on, and easy to defend against in the event they get lynched and flip village, then as soon as someone votes on Gears making them tied lead, you shift to Experience. Then as soon as Araris votes on Experience making him tied lead, you shift again to SfS. Seems like you're very worried of how you'll look if you're involved in voting out the person who'll possibly get lynched and flip village. Archer Also suspicious of Connie. Not voting in C1 is fine, but she's been speaking quite a bit, but not much game related discussion at all. No reads, no opinion on players, that I can remember. Slightly suspicious of Liranil as they're voting for Elandera again, as I've observed that voting for same players in successive cycles is new-player!elim tell. Feeling slightly better about Illwei, but I don't think you've remarked on Quinn's retraction on you, which I found unusual. I would have expected some sort of reaction. I think Araris/Exp is v/v. I've not seen on many cases of elims retaliatory voting. And I don't support Elandera lynch because I think the reasons are weak. One is making a connecting between people who cleared Illwei and Illwei as elims, and the other is for voting for Illwei, which isn't much.
-
I'm soo confused. What does this mean, Illwei? xD
-
No No, because at the time of my post, Connie's voters were Fura, you and Quinn. I was unsure about you, felt Fura as village, and felt Quinn as village Again, no. (unless 'them' refers to someone other than Connie?) Illwei, are you sure you didn't mistake me for someone else? xD Genuinely convinced SfS is an elim or has one of the Secret roles because there's no way I believe anyone wants to sacrifice themselves to potentially protect an Honorblade village because a. it's about chances as there's no guarantee that the elims would hit an honorblade bearer in the first place b. Vanilla villager can do as much damage with analysis as any role. c. Vanilla villager can be a future potential Honorblade holder and d. If it was really SfS' intentions, he wouldn't have revealed it.

Shard ate my post so I'll be brief. Probability would only matter is we voted randomly. We don't. We give weightage to the what people said, and how they voted and the like. Even meta plays a part too. So while C1 is probably closer to random voting, as the game progresses further, we voting is less and less random. Illwei, the law of averages does not apply to me. I'm above all that. Besides, I recall you telling that I'd be a helpful villager, so I feel your vote on me was weird, because it's like the first thing you did. And I'm confused that you did it in this game but not the one that started two days ago, which means something has changed. Also, the fact that you said you're gonna stick with Quinn till the end. Illwei Quinn's post is hedgy. And I know Quinn says she's not confident in her reads, but I've not seen hedgy posts from her before. Her reply to Illwei though, does seem villager-y. Illwei and Quinn have been the oddest of the bunch, with Illwei more suspicious. Gut elim read on Elandera. @A Joe in the Bush, Condensation has posted too. She'd also fall in the category of not talking the talk.

In the 5 hours that I was asleep, the thread jumped from page 5 to page 10... Literally no one is tunneling on Gears. There are more people defending (or sly-defending) him than those who are suspicious of him. Besides, my reason is not that he claimed/didn't claim elim or the long rules analysis post. It's the fact that he thought of a strategy that I find no possible reason to appear in the mind of a villager. More below. I believe that point no. 2 is about my vote. As I said before, I don't any reason why a villager should coming with that strategy. Also, the accepting your mistake and telling your analysis is shoddy lines up very well with you hoping I'd believe you made a simple mistake when I caught your contradiction in the last game. Quote from MR46 elim doc: And for that reason I'm happy with my vote. Sure, I read the one post she made at the time as village. She caught a contradiction to the rules that no one noticed. Paying attention to such stuff is more likely a villager than an elim. Well, that was mainly because I felt you exaggerated the compliments on Gears' post. 'Very well thought out' and 'contains great points' felt a lit over the top for me, for a post which I felt mostly comprised of fairly obvious stuff. That reminds me, I've heard about a certain dossier or psychological profiles you had created about players. How many Honorblades would you require to consider bartering with them? So.. why are you voting for her? Defensive!Connie is village while Calm!Connie is elim? Well, in my defence... I was about to sleep and there was like a grand total of 4 votes with 90 mins left in the cycle? And then I regretted voting for her. And yes, she had god tier elim-reads in the dead doc. And she shouted the ears off everyone in there as well. But hey, just because I said I probably wouldn't vote for you in D1/C1 for a while doesn't mean I'll condemn others for doing so. Others are more than welcome to do so. Hedgy hedgy. And I think that's it. Key points being Illwei-Connie Skirmish. I don't read Illwei as village but I'd like to give her a chance (to show her god-tier elim reads ) as I don't find anything she said D1-lynchable. Illwei, give out a few reads if you can maybe? Reads: Gears - I've already stated my thoughts. Elim read. Illwei - Read above. Not leaning either way. Matrim - See, I started suspicious of him, disliking his wording 'tentative vote' and 'I'm voting but that's likely to change'. Like, yeah that's obvious. You change your vote if you find someone else suspicious. Him specifically stating it didn't sit right with me. But his recent reads about Lotus and Danex feels village, since I feel similar as well. Unsure. Leaning very mild village. Danex - Elim read. Did not like his vote on Connie when everyone was on the train, and did not like his retraction when everyone came off. SfS - I forgot what little they posted other than the claim. The claim itself is different from their last game when they just went quietly about their village business. Unsure. Araris - Mild village from what little he posted earlier. Experience - That first post that drew suspicion was weird. Agreed with others. Elim read. Devotary - Gave explanation for village read earlier. Books - Posts in general are villager-y. Lotus - Elim. Coming on to say that they don't have anything to say doesn't sit right with me. Connie - Very much unsure. What exactly is 'careful voting' Connie? Are you implying that we didn't vote carefully in the games we played previously. As in we didn't think carefully before voting? Couple of things others have mentioned that I found iffy was well, including asking others' opinion on Illwei. I'll reserve my judgement until Connie answers my question. STINK - Village read for previously stated reasons. Alvron - Lord of Shadows doing shadowy stuff. I have no clue about your alignment. Agreed with Mat. I like your posts, but they do not give out any village indication. Still feel something off about your praise for Gears' post. Eternum - Agreed with Fura, I found myself agreeing a lot with their posts. Seems very village in general. Fura - Village read on Fura as well. In ways, Eternum and Fura seem very similar. They are probably my strongest village reads at this point. EDIT: I somehow missed out Quinn from the player list. I'm reading her moderate village as well. EDIT 2: @Ookla Fell From The Sky, Mat was right, but wrong. Connie did vote for Illwei, but retracted it here:

Ash definitely put both the PM Blades in the hands of elims. Can you give reasoning for the village read on SfS? All they've done is claim elim. Why is it village indicative? Village read on Devotary and Illwei. Also leaning village on Araris and Books. Actually STINK has played a game with Gears, and he did the exact same thing in that game too (MR44). You can find the relevant post here. And since STINK was a villager that game, I'm inclined to read him the same now too. Very mild village on Quinn. Leaning not-village on Alvron, Connie, Gears, Danex

Gears. You want us to waste several cycles lynching the Shaman to confirm their identity? Rather than just waste 1 cycle lynching the Truthless? The Stone Shaman should be very careful with their identity, not throw it around like that, because the Truthless will pursue their win-con and if they die, then the elims would already know the identity of Shaman and just kill them.

Yes, but I don't know what not-everything is. Huh, it's the opposite for me. If I stick with my first choice, it'll turn out to be better than if I change my target (as evident by me changing my first scan target from Aman to Ash -_-').

First off all, I'll just say that I've been waiting for SfS to die throughout the game so I could say... 'You are just Somebody that I used to know'. I've been extremely busy since the last day of Cycle 9, and what little time I had, I spent reading the elim and dead doc, so this is coming a bit late. It's safe to say I've got quite a few thoughts about this game. @Ooklil' the Wei, it was hilarious watching you go through Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 in the dead doc. I had very much similar feelings about it, but I put it a lot more mildly in the LR doc. I couldn't go after Gears in C2 because I would have been killed (or attempted to) a lot earlier. And I'm probably never going to vote in the first Cycle for you again in a long time. And since Araris is not there, I'll take up the responsibility of the mandatory-voicing-for-activity post. Generally, I felt the activity of the game was decent (not optimal, but still decent). It's the voting that irked me during the game. There was a grand total of 1 village vote in the cycle that could decide the game. As I've told earlier, I was very busy during the last day of the last cycle, or else I definitely would have annoyed SfS and Danex into voting ( I still don't know why they didn't vote). Second thing is elim team activity. Of course, you're free to choose any elim strat you feel, it's your team after all. But I feel the villagers will enjoy the game more if the elims are a bit more involved in the game. And it's beneficial to you too, as there's no guarantee that the next village team would take it easy on less-active players. As Gears said in the elim doc, you get better faster if you're more active. Speaking of @Gears, congrats on your first game as an elim! You've played really well and manage to thrive in the chaos and managed to gain trust of majority of the villagers. Congratulations to you, and the rest of the elims on your win! For anyone looking to re-run the game, I'd like to give my thoughts on my TLR role. I feel like it was a bit under-powered. Now, I'm possibly the worst-case scenario that could happen to a player with the role, 1 scan in 2 cycles really isn't much at all. Especially if you consider that your target could be killed in the same cycle (*sigh*), and the fact that you could be role-blocked ( speaking of, @Quinn0928 was really about to role-block me??). Add to that, some other player might have chosen to wait till C3 for aligning, which basically gives TLR about 3 scans (if lucky) and that isn't much. I'd recommend giving 1 scan per cycle and see how that goes. The biggest defence TLR had was that their death would not decrease the no. of opposition players, so both the teams would hesitate to spend 2 cycles killing a player without their death contributing to their win-con. I'm curious to see what would happen if the TLR did count towards the team they aligned with. So that's another to consider if someone decides to re-run the game. I'm probably forgetting a few things, but I'll just post it if I remember them. I've saved the best for last. Mat! Congrats on running your first game seamlessly! Seriously, with the amount of PMs this game had, you managed it quite well. You now know why my first 2 games have very limited PMs. I hope to play another one of your games soon! I had a lot of fun balancing the line of being helpful and inconspicuous, and generally playing as TLR. Thanks!

My main contact was Quinn. My PMs with Danex has been limited claiming to him and giving results of my scans. If you're village, please consider voting for someone else. Danex has also been active every cycle, so there's little to no chance he'd miss submitting the elim kill.

Believe me, that's the reason I scanned Danex in the first place. After Ventyl turned up dead and flipped village, I was out of elim reads so I re-read the thread. So many stuff Danex did/said were suspicious and I was genuinely convinced of Danex-Ghander team. Basically him seeming very hesitant to lynch Gears, him wanting to let the chain run longer (which seemed like an attempt to allow chain manipulation), Ghander staying quiet but coming out aggressively defending Danex when he got 3-4 votes for suggesting the PM chain all seemed indicative for a Danex-Ghander team, which is why I scanned him in the first place. But he turned to village. My next suspect was Fadran for whole PM chain confusion, as Turtle claimed that she got the fake chain back to her, and then named Fadran (I think in her PMs with Quinn) and the whole mistaking Ghander for Turtle confusion was too iffy for me. But he turned up village too. Actually, if they have been silent throughout the game it would look very suspicious if they come out advocating an opposite lynch, so Soothing a vote off would make them able to hide and protect Aman. I believe you're village. Among Vapor and Kings Way, I believe Vapor fits for the exactly reason I've stated above. She has been very active elsewhere on the Shard, but hasn't spoken here since Gears' death. So if she would come out defending Aman or voting for Chasmgoat, it would be suspicious. Besides, I'm not dismissing the possibility that SfS is an elim too. Yes, he gave a reason for removing the vote, but it's not at all alignment-indicative. I've been reading SfS as village till the last few cycles but now I'm getting paranoid. Besides, why do you think I'm elim aligned? The sole reason I made a decision to align with village on C1 was that I get more cycles to scan. And I've been deliberately restraining myself from being too villager-y (reasons why you found me suspicious in C1-C2ish) because I usually get elim-killed and wanted to prevent that. So, please vote for someone other than Danex and Fadran because I guarantee you they are village.

This has already been discussed before. I'm given one successful scan per two cycles. Danex' scan counted to C4-C5 cycles (since Ventyl's was unsuccessful) and Fadran's scan counted towards C6-C7 cycles. Words from our GM himself:

Right, I thought I'd reveal myself last cycle since my contact turned up dead and the PMs were down, but figured that I'd reveal myself after my C8 scan. That scan was unsuccessful as I scanned Whysper. So, yeah I'm the Lord Ruler, and I'm confirming that Danex is AnonOb. Danex can confirm that I was the one in contact with Quinn as she was in contact with him as well. To refresh your memories: C2: Ashbringer - Obligator C4: Ventyl - Obligator (scan failed as he was killed in the same turn) C5: Danex - Obligator C6: Fadran - Obligator C8: Whysper - Obligator (scan failed as she was killed in the same turn) Sorry Elandera, I'll have to try to vote you out as soon as you joined but that two missing votes is just too much to overlook, especially since the vote manipulators were content to sit back and not use it for the majority of the game till now.
