  1. From within the many layers of his fake wizard beard, designed to let him mingle without constant attention, Brandon Sanderson watched the SErs with interest. He'd never seen such a group before. They clearly liked his books well enough to be here, but there was something about their circle that was different. They were united by something more than simply a love for the cosmere. "Hmm," he thought. "I'm going to find out what that is." * * * Stretch Goal #1 has been reached! Brandon Sanderson has entered the game! One of the Reasonable SErs will be Brandon in disguise, and will be able to protect one player per cycle. His convention, his rules. To an extent, of course.
  2. Mat was confused. The first two people he talked two introduced themselves as Raven. And also with an Ookla name. Oh no... "Wiz, is that you?" I forgot something! Ookla Season Rules: Please put your original username as your Member Title and/or in your signature for ease of literally everyone but especially me. Thanks When voting during the game, use both if you can but I won't enforce anything.
  3. "I should have bought a VIP pass," Mat muttered to himself, staring at the long registration line ahead of him. He should have figured the convention would have way more people than the year before, what with Stormlight 5 and all, but had weighed the extra cost of the badge against the benefits and chosen the cheaper option. A choice he was beginning to regret. Eventually, he made it to the front of the line and picked up his badge. Number 1748. Isn't that the number of pages in SA5? He thought he remembered that fact from the Shardcast spoiler-free review that was posted the day before. That's a fun coincidence. And a very long book. The designated SE meeting spot was in front of the Exhibit Hall, so Mat headed there next. The hall still was closed to non-VIP badgeholders. Yet another reason to have splurged for it. But even if he had one, that didn't guarantee the others did as well. He turned the corner and there they were: a circle of people he didn't recognize. Time to go put faces to a name. This is going to be a fun weekend. * * * Welcome to MR67: 'Twas the Night Before SA5! I'm your GM, and your IM is @Elandera. Please feel free to go to her for any concerns before, during, or after the game. Mat and the other SErs are attending Dragonsteel 2024! But with Stormlight 5 so close, and the tension and excitement so high, some of them may have forgotten that this is not one of their games. Or maybe that was their plan all along… Rules are found below, and also in this doc. General Rules: Factions: Mat's Kickstarter: Signups are open starting now, and run until Monday, December 11th, at 3pm PST. The game will begin shortly after, and that will be the regular rollover time. I don't think I'll need to delay a turn going up during the game, but if something comes up in my schedule I thank everyone in advance for their patience Turns will always end at 3pm PST regardless of that possibility. Note that you may sign up with an RP character, but because in-game you're actually at Dragonsteel in person, that's who will show up in the writeups I guess that means this game also comes with the risk of someone else (AKA me) RPing as you, and if that makes you uncomfortable feel free to not sign up. But I'll be as courteous as I can. If at any point you feel I've crossed a line please yell at me and/or Elan, but I don't think it'll come to that. I'll be careful! Participants: Quicklinks:
  4. I don’t think I can run the MR ruleset I have prepped because it’s too complex, which is lame because right now I’m probably the least busy I’ll be ever so it’ll just never happen xD I can take the slot, provided it’s fine that I make a ruleset completely from scratch.
  5. I think this is a situation of ‘right answer, wrong formula’ because I really don’t think that’s e!indicative. I almost corrected you in thread when you said it but didn’t because I wanted you to vote Illwei
  6. If I was elim the self voting would have prevented a C1 win for you. It’s always bad :P.
  7. I tried? Stick was the fatal blow, which I guess was my bad for actually voting there but I don’t think I can entirely be blamed. I’ll attribute it to us not being used to her evolved playstyle post MU Champs I guess? Maybe I went for it too hard last turn, idk. But I feel like there was nothing I could do because JNV’s analysis was totally confbiased lol But w/e ggs Illwei and welcome back Edit1: Oh and thanks @Ookla the Paradigm for running this, the writeups were gold as usual and the word sneak was fun to complete :D. See I’m still a winner at heart Edit2: Hahahaha reading you guys tunnel e!me in the doc was hilarious I didn’t slip Stick smh everything I said was true :P. Illwei did outplay me, though. But to be fair I wasn’t aware that was a competition that was happening until it was too late.
  8. This is making me feel all blue or no that’s not right more like purple yellow
  9. Great gg @Ooklil the Wei glad you could get the win on your return game :p.
  10. I would prefer that to it being you and them voting me tbh
  11. From my PoV he was townreading me, because my PoV was from before he voted me. I fully didn't see that coming. That idea came from this post and also this post, and if there were signs of him reconsidering while I was still around I missed them. I see the post where he was theorizing a you/me team but that was after I logged off.
  12. Illwei Betting the farm on this but I'm never not voting Illwei here so there's no point in holding off. @JNV, Illwei will wait until you vote before voting. If you vote me, we lose, because Illwei can double vote and I don't have manip anymore because I wasted it C1. Raven doesn't have manip either after wasting it yesterday, so even if they vote Illwei we lose to Illwei's manip. It is absolutely critical here that you vote Illwei. Doubling would be nice, but it's only necessary if Raven votes me. @Ookla of Ravens it's not as critical that you vote correctly, but it sure makes this a whole lot cleaner. If people want, I can v case myself but I don't like doing that and I don't really have the time. I feel like I've played differently enough from MR66 to be notable, but it's always hard to tell when it's your own playstyle.
  13. Not an option. There’s nothing stopping the remaining elim from voting last-second and just winning. Illwei saying they have to work until and hour before rollover is funny because I have to work starting an hour before rollover .-. Guess there won’t be any discussion here.
  14. A strategy for what? Someone I’m vibing with is someone e!me wants to have around as long as possible. I went offline before I saw Kas’ vote on me and was legitimately surprised reading it back during rollover. I’m actually kind of relieved that he died because I 100% would have paranoided e!Kas otherwise >> But all that aside, the main point is that I totally thought that Kas and I v!read each other and were on the same page. I wouldn’t have killed him. I would have killed JNV, as he was the one player Kas wasn’t reevaluating. Interested in what you have to say. I will note that I think JNV is more village for this. e!JNV should know that all they need to do to win is vote Illwei. I feel pretty good about e!Illwei here but I guess now have to focus on not losing the game by being exed >> There’s a reason Illwei asked JNV to vote first. If JNV votes wrong, game over, because they’re the only one with manip still. So no pressure >> I guess there’s something calming about knowing the game is completely outside of my control.
  15. @Ooklil the Wei @JNV Idk what there is to say but something is better than nothing
  16. You’re definitely not remembering correctly. I basically sheeped Kas last turn (that means that I agreed with everything he said) and he was my top alive village read. Edit: @Ooklil the Wei the JNV clear is based on a proven pattern that e!JNV posts and v!JNV does not, for what I assume to be obligation reasons. It applies here imo because of the pattern, but also that solo elims have even more obligation to post than elims on a team, if anything. I don’t actually like that meta and have argued against it many times but I always lose the argument and at this point I’m just going to hope Kas is right again. But I really don’t want to snapvote.
  17. Uhhhh 1 elim? Hello? I guess that makes sense. Sort of has to be Illwei if we trust Kas’ metaclear because there ain’t no way in heck Archer gives Raven a solo but there also ain’t no way in heck I’m voting now The problem here is that JNV has literally no content to review Elim kill
  18. This is where I vote Stick and we lose isn’t it Stick
  19. So many mentions holy cow xD I had the hilarious experience of reading Stick's posts and mentally preparing responses only to scroll further to see Kas basically saying the exact things I was thinking :P. I really don't buy Stick's reasons for not being teamed with Raven or Illwei (former seconding Kas, the latter because disorganization is a staple of elim teams a large portion of the time; too much organization leads to connections so I'd expect Stick/Illwei to let each other play how they would as villagers for distancing effect). Her reason for not being e with Kas is basically a logical fallacy as well but I don't think they're e/e so /shrug You say this as if three people haven't already. It wasn't about the numbers and statistics, it was an activity meta read. It's not 5 out of 8 because I obviously wasn't counting myself. It wasn't supposed to be revelatory. Besides, what qualifies as a 'real legacy' anyway? I'm using the term to mean "final thought(s) from someone about to die" so I posted something I'd been thinking about that I hadn't said yet. Eh. Certainly possible on paper, barring some interaction I missed, but I just think Kas is a villager. At least, I definitely don't think Kas killed TKN because he was scared TKN would e!read him. ---> Also agree with Kas on Stick's JNV argument; I've been on the elim side of the meta argument and I said the exact same thing. Though I also might have said the same thing as a villager arguing with Kas. Don't remember. Kas has a perfect record on this, iirc, though :P. Ah right lemme get on that obv villaging thing real quick [this is not passive aggressive this is a joke please dont misread my tone] Ravens and Illwei or Kas and Illwei? All of the above? Raven is giving me new player chaos vibes, plain and simple. (And yes, I do think it's fair to call them a new player still). I don't see e!them making that post about being a villager but playing elimmy on purpose for irony's sake. Illwei was tied with a whole bunch of people on my C1 reads list. It was the sort of default village read spot. I did gut village read them though, or at least there wasn't anything that caught my attention. Kas was lower than TKN because TKN was my strongest village read, as should be intuitive. I'm not sure what other reason I need. what are you assuming re: elim numbers? how would exeing you c2 after exeing aeori c1 bring us ot lylo in c3? I was incorrectly assuming 2 elims that win at overparity. Dunno where, but I thought I saw someone saying that elims win at overparity and not parity (when in reality it was probably the opposite and I had a random kick of dyslexia) so in my head it was 6-2 leading to 4-2 leading to 2-2 lylo. I was just wrong. We should have tied the vote intentionally yesterday, like Illwei suggested (which may be the largest reason to v!read them, actually). Would have bought us more time. That's ironic for me to say because me not doubling my vote accomplishes this, but I had no way of knowing no one else would vote/use manip. If anything, that's the reason to e!read me :P. We can't try to tie today because elims can hammer. I'd agree with you there, but full disclosure, without me entirely sheeping you re:JNV I'd put them in instead of Illwei. Wdym by the third? also wdym by the blue bolded? Third is a typo, should read second. I just meant I wasn't sure who you'd be teamed with. The blue is referring to this post-- Considering their skill level I doubt Raven makes the comment about wanting to be elim and therefore playing ironically if they're actually evil. Okay that should be everything lol ...Now, I'm noticing that Stick stated her intent to vote with blue instead of orange. I could use green, purple, yellow, perhaps? Just for fun? Stick Don't wanna commit yet because I'm chicken but consider my vote cast atm Edit: Missed this. Is that not exactly what you did yesterday? I don't recall you talking to me much prior to putting my train at 2.
  20. I really want to disagree here but nah I've done that before, trusting this. Makes me feel better at least. Yeah, which is what I was thinking anyway. The TKN kill almost looks like they're trying to indirectly frame me (as I was the most vocal about v reading them) but I also think it indicates an elim team that was fairly comfortable with yesterday's votes as they killed someone notorious for not voting. This game in particular I think elims will pay special attention to votes. I don't love an Illwei/Raven team, if only because Illwei just shot down Stick/Raven and I don't know how much they would be comfortable with shrinking worlds here. e!Stick/Illwei is certainly possible. I don't want to forget about e!you worlds but your response to Raven's vote feels a lot more v!you so I'm fine with that read I suppose. Out of the three I'd vote Stick first. I gutread Illwei village, and Raven is giving me village chaos vibes despite their you vote seeming performative. But I think their post about ironically playing like an elim because they randed village is potentially clearing. With e!Stick idk who the third would be. No clear teams are appearing. That'd be too easy.
  21. Oh, I’m not saying they’re evil. There’s no reason for me to think that. But if they are we’re screwed because no one wants to CC in a 9 player game. Do you think JNV is meta cleared this game?
  22. Eh, just my pessimism. I found Aeo’s reply post to me to be slightly village leaning but didn’t mention it because there literally was no point in mentioning it. I don’t think I like this mechanic, a lot of how I solve is reactions to votes. I should have not doubled my vote but I didn’t think that no one else would vote. It feels like all that was accomplished was me deciding an exe completely on my own. More of a small game problem in general, but there’s a reason my legacy was focused on pointing out active players. This is nearly exlo. The game is so small that there’s no breathing room and lesser active people actually destroy us. e!JNV just wins here because we’re never going to vote them. Also I cannot for the life of me decide if Raven is derp clearing themselves, or was instructed to commit to the bit by their teammate >>
  23. Cool Love to waste a cycle Also stop dissing on my legacy smh, you’re only soooort of right Feeling the Stick paranoia but we’ll see
  24. Legacy if I die is that I think there has to be an elim in Aeo/Kas/Illwei/Stick for meta reasons. Archer doesn’t make all of them + me villagers. So keep that in mind.
