  1. Wouldn’t that make me more credible to you, because I have a witness and Exp does not? This is fine enough reasoning if you assume JNV has to be my teammate if I flip elim, or that JNV is cleared when I flip village, but honestly I don’t think you could assume either of those. Exp’s teammate has some incentive to bus right now.
  2. Well, I know it’s a bad idea, and I can tell you that Though if killing me first gets Exp anyway that’s alright with me I was hoping to catch the whole team by holding out on revealing, because if Exp’s teammate had been the one to accuse me of submitting the kill, we’d know both. But they weren’t, so I only have a double witness against Exp. Can you clarify your ‘direct relation’ thing? I don’t know what you’re referring to at all
  3. Go ahead and try to balance a 3-5 starting ratio, I'll wait :P.
  4. And that's what I was waiting to post for Experience is lying. I blocked him and was sitting on the results to see if anyone tried something with lylo being so soon. A fake result propels the 5-2 to 3-2 which is winnable depending on the roles of the elims, and Exp couldn't have known that the kill would fail anyway so that could have been the plan to begin with when the fakescan would have taken the game to 2-2, or a loss. JNV can back up that I was holding out to post 'because because', this was it. We were talking in PMs before anyone posted. I totally understand though if I get voted, I expected something like this to happen but I didn't expect it to be me :P. If you want, I'm cool with exeing me and KillRoleing Exp, or vice versa if that makes everyone feel better. Edit: Again, ensuring an exe or caring about said exe has nothing to do with alignment on D1 when nothing is known. I was concerned about the 1 vote margin because I was in it.
  5. So tomorrow's your birthday? Well, happy birthday right now!

    Trell spike...

Which Brandon Sanderson are you talking about? Because the one I know wrote four extra books we're getting next year without messing up his schedule that already included 2-3 books a year
  7. Wait when is rollover xD
  8. Double posting to vote xino since I think it’s like a 1-1-1-1 tie or whatever and I want people to have time to react and such before rollover. Some amount of self pres is here as well. I think the reasoning for xino is alright for D1, I still like Tani for her unusually self aware comment so if anyone wants to go there I’m open to that.
  9. And you’re not? Of course I care about the exe. That’s not elim indicative.
  10. JNV For reasons previously mentioned by myself/Archer, I’m not against a xino exe. Right now though I’ll vote Tani as a second option, since we should probably have one of those, and I’m as ok with a Tani exe as I am with xino. I’ll probably consolidate to xino at rollover if that’s more of the consensus, there’s been some talk about stalling with ties for the roles to find elims but I’m unsure how that works with the spirit of the game and I like analysis.
  11. This doesn't really make sense to me- From what I can tell, Archer's vote on you and subsequent request for xino to switch only served as a test for xino, so it makes sense that Archer would assess the results and react accordingly. It's interesting that Archer apparently came up with a play like that immediately, but that's nothing crazy for Archer so I can live with that Edit: Forgot to reply to Archer :P. Oh, huh. So elim wincon is effectively parity. A RBer or Protect could stop the kill, but that'd just be prolonging the inevitable. There's no vote manip in this game but a village kill role could exist- if we want we could request that they hold their fire until lylo when we'd wish we had it, since a miskill results in it being deactivated, but maybe we wish we had it now. I think it's just a guarantee that there's a minimum of four unique roles at all, though the use of the word 'Elantrian' in the rules is confusing. It's the name of the roles, and the name of the villagers.
  12. Yknow I didn’t mind xino as much until he switched back to Thaid I had a slight gut tug but nothing worth mentioning in-thread… but I agree with Archer’s read about the switch and it’s weird to me that xino went back away from Exp as soon as Archer said that
  13. Hmm I kinda read this sentence as elim :P. Seems overly self aware when I haven’t really noticed anything out of place with your playstyle (not a bad thing). Maybe it would make more sense if you said this further in the game, but two posts and a few hours in seems weird to me. Yeah. There’s been a game with a single elim in the past, but two does make more sense anyway.
  14. Thanks. If you didn't see, I edited in another question that I guess ninja'd you That means we probably have 6-2, 4-2, 2-2, 0-2 or 3 misexes until the game's over, with C3 as the worst-case exlo.
  15. Oh I can’t count, nice :P. So with eight players, I think the team basically has to have two. 3/8 is far too high of a ratio (they would reach parity after 1 misexe. The elim wincon is unclear— @The Unknown Novel, it says ‘overwhelm’ in the rules, does that mean parity or outnumber?) Either way I think that’s too many. And 1/8 doesn’t make sense either, maybe it could be if the one elim is the kill role, which would be fun. Most of the roles probably exist, I think. Maybe not the scanner or kill role in such a small game. I don’t really like to speculate specific team role comps for either alignment, but I think any role works for any alignment to some extent. Edit: Also @TUN what’s the # for Elantrian falling? Do we get to know?
  16. A 9 player QF seems nice right now. I like it. This game my goal is to not auto-village read JNV so this seems like an alright start
  17. Craven nodded, ready to go. No one seemed to be taking the lead, and he figured Martin would, but Craven also just wanted to explore the unfamiliar land. "Let's go!" He began walking in no particular direction, away from the airplane.
  18. Basically what Exp said, avatars have been a thing for awhile. Idk how confirmed it is that Trell is an avatar of Autonomy as well but that’s a popular theory, and all these things were pre-RoW
  19. I finished RoW the day after it was released xD I don’t remember exactly, but I can’t imagine the definition was extremely useful or anything since the cast of Shardcast lament and joke about avatars just as much as they did pre RoW. Either way, we weren’t ‘first introduced’ to the concept of avatars in Stormlight, which was my main point.
  20. Today I finished the Wheel of Time.

I didn’t stop after my last SU, actually. I just closed the book long enough to breathe (and type a few paragraphs). Altogether it took me 5.5 hours to read from page 770 till the end, and I wasn’t bored for a minute of it. Didn’t find time to make this one until now.

Just gonna reaffirm what I said this morning about everyone reading the series.

Further thoughts in the spoiler. Don’t open if you haven’t finished it, obviously.

    Spoiler

    You’ve been warned.

    Spoiler

The ability of authors to wrap up a story as massive as WoT is incredible to me. That hypes me even more for SA5, though I do think Brandon said that Robert wrote the ending of MoL before he passed— if that’s the case, I’m glad. He deserves the chance to be the pen behind the final words. His final words.

I’m firmly in the camp of readers who enjoyed the ending and how it wrapped up. And enjoyed basically everything else. It’s… hard to make me not like an ending to a series structured like WoT :P I personally didn’t notice a whole lot of writing style shifts between 11-12 and think Brandon did more than a fantastic job. I do wish Robert had gotten the chance to finish it, but I’m again glad that he wrote a lot of the major scenes like the Tower if Ghenji and the ending.

Unfortunately, I had a few majorish things spoiled for me before finishing, but that also was my own fault for going to the WoT wiki for research xD Reveals I can remember learning prior to getting to that point in the book:

    • Egwene’s death
    • Taim’s betrayal
    • Rand’s survival and body swap
    • Elayne/Aviendha/Min’s survival
    • Mat’s survival
    • Perrin’s survival

Almost everything else was learned in the moment :P Whoops. But it was fine, a lot of the twists were still twists and I liked that. Most of what I knew didn’t end up being plot related, just character related.

Mat. Is. The. Best. Character. Do not regret modeling my username after him for one second. His scenes and the places he ended up… I just can’t even say how awesome I think they are. One last toss of the dice…

Other random thoughts in no particular order:

    • Am I the only one who really liked the Mat/Tuon romance? Like a lot?
    • I ship Pevrandrol a thousand percent.
    • Favorite side characters include Talmanes, Androl, Ituralde
    • Ngl my favorite chapter sequence in the entire book is Egwene in the White Tower in book 12.
    • Yeah basically there are no bad characters in this series and every PoV is one I enjoy reading. So good. It’s so good.
    • Apparently very controversial opinion is me not minding Fain’s death? I thought it was fine. Mat finishing him was appropriate.
    • Again I can’t think of a single thing that I don’t like about the way this ended xD

I’m left with a sense of… what now, yknow? I think that’s pretty normal for someone finishing WoT. It absolutely gains the status of greatest-of-all-time along with just a couple other series. I can’t stress that enough.

What now is reading the Licanius Trilogy :P I’ll probably give myself a week to sink everything in. Man.

      Spren of Kindness

I really wanted to answer one of the thoughts so, it's in the Box:

      Spoiler

I wasn't a fan of Mat and Tuon - but I also wasn't a fan of a lot of the relationships.  So I'm a bit biased against them.

    3. Doomstick

      Doomstick

my favorite chapter of the series was hands down

      Spoiler

(not in a "I enjoyed this chapter" way, but it a "this chapter made me feel enough that I had to take a break from the book" kind of way)

      Spoiler

the one where Aviendha sees the Aiel's (possible?) futures. it's just sickening

  21. This morning (almost four hours ago) I picked up A Memory of Light and started chapter 37—The Last Battle.

Just finished it, read it in one sitting. Very glad I did. To anyone who hasn’t got to that point yet, set yourself up with a large block of time because that chapter is built to be read in one sitting.

    So many thoughts

I’m gonna finish the book first, be back in a bit :P Might not be today, depending on schedule things.

Read Wheel of Time, guys. Just do it. It’s worth it.

      Thaidakar the Ghostblood

*wonders if I should respond or not* ah well I will, I personally hate WoT after book one, but nice! glad you like it even if I don't!

      Mat

Mmm you realllly can’t say that after experiencing less than 10% of it

Try it again in a few years, you’ll change your mind :P

    3. Thaidakar the Ghostblood

      Thaidakar the Ghostblood

I read the first four books and a section of book five, I did not like it nor will I be trying it again any time soon.

  22. I give my villager RNG streak if you wish to have it, along with the hope that my backup services won’t be necessary!

  24. I think that's why it'd have to be Kaladin's choice- he'd go willingly, with a smile (if that's possible for Kaladin) knowing that he was protecting everyone in the best and most effective way possible. Being forced into the job wouldn't be good for the book or for Kaladin, but assuming he knew what he was getting into and wanted to do it, I'd be alright with the move. I agree that the arc if it goes this way is better without it being permanent, but a reversal one book later would feel a bit cheap, in my opinion. A book 10 reversal would be better.
