Mid-Range Game 58 - To Kill a Skyeel
Mat replied to The Unknown Medallion's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Have you even played with e!me? xD I think I’m now leaning to the Politician being v!Bort, but it certainly could be e!Bort. In both cases the manip would have been random. I’m sort of indifferent at the point between Liranil and Striker but I’ll stay where I am so that the wagons are closer, which is always useful. I may be able to get on sometime in the next half hour but probably not, consider this my likely last post for the cycle. -

Can I just double post? Probably. It's been almost an hour and this is all new stuff. Mods can merge this if that was a bad choice :P. New page, ah. Probably even more fine now. I thought it was pretty cool when you voted alongside me in the QF Anyway What I discovered from rereading was that it would have been a lot more useful if Archer had been evil, or if he was pushed later. Instead, he was village, and was always the main train with secondary ones coming and going, which is good for the village I guess because it means we didn't runaway misexe Archer D1 but also not great for info. My main conclusion is that Striker and Liranil are not e/e, but I do think one of them is probably evil. I elim read both, meaning I probably got at least one of those wrong. JNV and Striker work as teammates (Striker voted JNV early, then switched to Archer for no apparent reason when nothing had really changed with the VC) And Liranil also potentially works with JNV since she did something similar at the end of the cycle with xino, but the connection is clearer with Striker imo. I think the Striker train was pure. That just requires v!Illwei though so :P. Striker case in a nutshell: Liranil case in a nutshell: I'll vote Striker for now, I like that Liranil hasn't really pushed an exe despite being suspected whereas Striker jumped right in for Liranil. I think I have more to go off of on Striker whereas my case for Liranil is largely gut-based. I'm pleasantly surprised to note that my Striker/JNV theory holds up with the votes this cycle, though I dunno if the elims would be so bold as to block vote at the beginning. Maybe if they can't tell each other not to? I don't have a real read on JNV yet. Illwei, Emulaton Devo, Stick ash, JNV Bort Liranil, Striker Caveat here being that I don't think Striker and Liranil are both evil, and I don't think Bort is evil if Liranil is. -

Then you should fix your rule clarifications lol Increases the chance of it being Bort imo Agreed that Liranil’s fixation on proving she’s not the manip is strange -

From what I understand, it is automatic, but if the Politician doesn’t pick a target their own vote is doubled. A vote missing off of Archer signals that this wasn’t the case. That might be true, but it doesn’t mean Bort is more likely to me the manipper (from my PoV). To me, I see the active candidates as more likely than the mostly inactive one as a general rule; active players have more time to think about whether they’re going to use an action, more time to actually use that action, and more time to check if they have an action to use :P. I don’t necessarily think the Politician is evil either, a two vote swing is pretty powerful. Don’t feel like I’d suspect you more if I knew it was you, I don’t think I would- the Politician saved Archer, who was a villager, and killed xino, who was a villager, so there isn’t really a reason for an elim to bother with that, especially if Striker’s evil. You have to look at the manip considering that the manipper likely didn’t know about Devo’s vote unless they are Devo, unless they have incredibly fast reaction time, so I’d go as far as to say that e!Striker means v!Politician, full stop. Who the manipper is isn’t something that needs to be out there, but it’s kind of helpful if it is. I think the elims might have targeted in that pool of players if they really wanted the manip gone but idk, Archer is just a weird kill. Politician probably shouldn’t claim though. Standard thread claiming practices still apply- Rule of thumb: Don’t. Still haven’t reread, sorry bout that. It’ll happen tonight. Edit: I think I’m leaning Striker over Liranil though. Unsure. -

I'd say Bort isn't e/e with either of them, also -

From the way that the game mechanics work, we know the manipper has to be you, Liranil, or Devo. I suspect multiple people fished around between those three (I PMd the other two; figured it probably wasn't you since you were inactive for most of the turn). Anything and everything -

Intriguing kill, but good to know all the same. It's possible the elims wanted to clear the name of their Politician, but that's a crack theory and probably shouldn't be explored when we don't even know who it is. I think it's Liranil, though, and I was thinking she was elim anyway, so that at least fits. I'll reread C1 with v!Archer in mind and come back with some things. I suppose as far as votes-before-going-afk are, one on Striker isn't too bad. Archer was pushed before anyone else was though, I think? I just need to reread. Anyone got anything interesting from PMing? Edit: Also, Archer dies early too often :P. -

I think it was a joke on Devo's part, since Devo voted me for using the word 'bus'. There's no scenario where we're e/e and that's actually the signal word lol Bort wasn't a suspect until he posted, to be fair. Do you have more than three decent suspects? I know I probably missed someone, it's not like I'm expecting to clock the elim team on D1 :P. -

This is what happens when you try to do multiple things at once. Sorry, everyone :P. I'm here now. Reread thoughts: Something about Illwei commenting about getting good vibes from everyone so far rubs me the wrong way; at this point basically it's just been everyone agreeing with everyone else about PMs. 'More like no vibes at all' saves this somewhat for me though. I like Archer's first post. Asking for cred when I don't think cred is due might be too blatant for an elim (though maybe not Archer) but I also think that voting Devo alongside Illwei is in line with his v meta. Both of those points are semi-weak, but I gut read the post as village enough to bump them up. I think JNV's second post is NAI, on a second pass-through. Slight sus on Striker for pushing e!JNV for that post. I mentioned it a little, but he actually went for it (and then switched targets multiple times later). Also, reiterating that Striker had different reasons than I did. I mentioned suspicion for the Archer vote whereas Striker mentioned suspicion for the grammar, which is NAI. Striker also walked back on this reasoning when I pointed it out, which isn't a great look imo. Stick's JNV take is strange but also in line with v her I think. I need to stop reading Illwei as village based off tone. Also, I read Illwei as village based off tone. Maybe also the elim doc being closed thing, Stick is right that it's fakeable but that kind of fake isn't really used that much by anyone (even if it maybe should be). And she also voted Striker, which is a good vote imo. Never mind I'm not just village reading Illwei off of tone alone. Striker suddenly switching to Archer (off of JNV, completely dropping that train, when JNV is still voting Archer) and his reasons were because Striker was 'pushing him too village'. Which I missed the first time. And isn't really a reason xD The case against JNV doesn't exist... xino's idea that JNV is a countertrain to Archer is a good one, but I do vil read Archer. I always vil read Archer though, so /shrug. He's in the category of people I can only vc analysis read. Which isn't super helpful D1. I've learned to trust everyone else when it comes to Archer D1 exes But I'd rather kill Striker. Gut village on ash's eyes, for now. Hmm I take back agreeing about e!xino. I don't like any of Liranil's votes. The list is fine, I think, so I don't really like Bort for that post either. Ordered Buckets: Good: Bad: Anyone left out is Null (which I think is just Devo, another player I can't read unless I do vc analysis). I'll probably stay on Striker since there's an hour left but I think Liranil is a good option, maybe a better one. Archer/JNV I'm leaning village or at least distinctly not elim on, though they give good info on this cycle. -

Agree with the people saying xino’s list is weird, and to an extent I also agree with Stick about Striker, so I might switch there. Still need to reread. -

Am I not voting Striker? Apparently I only thought that I did that >> I’ll do a catch-up post and reads list later, and thoughts on Archer/JNV. I currently believe it’s v/v and that elims are likely the later/mid votes on both trains, but idk if that assessment will hold up once I reread. -

Just so you know, you can't edit out information in posts :P. So what was there originally has to come back, sorry I did see it anyway. Editing for grammar or additions is fine, just not subraction or changing actual info. -

A trigger word seems catchable and therefore risky for the elims, but it depends what the word is. I think it’s more likely that they just established a baseline on when/if you bus (or didn’t discuss it at all) but I agree it’s probably going to be rarer this game, at least early on. Laughing at the e/e JNV/me read, because it’s totally viable assuming you elim read me and JNV. I like Illwei’s vote, for me there was the initial mind meld with Striker, but it was for different reasons, and their reasons since then haven’t been super great imo. -

Was gonna edit this in but there's a post now so I mean that you can't blame JNV for not having 'really complex and smart things' yet -

I knew that he made multiple as well; Archer didn't say it outright I don't think but it wasn't hard to guess from context clues. -

I mean, the turn did start like two hours ago :P. That's the typical JNV dialect except for when they're an Albatross. -

No, because I don't think that logic tracks as well as you think it does :P. I don't love JNV's vote, since I think Archer voting Devo there is normal or slightly v indicative if anything. Won't vote there yet though. I too did less PMing that I wanted to. There's always another Night I guess ash's_eyes -

“Mat,” Mat said cautiously. He wasn’t sure if he could trust this guy, and not running was seeming like the wrong option the more Mat thought about it, but it was too late now. “Wanna… gather berries?” he offered lamely. He needed food, and after a few days of solitude a friend didn’t sound too bad, despite the chance of a literal backstabbing.
