  1. Wind, Stone and Night are Splinters of Adonalsium, though. They aren't aligned with any one Shard, they have some proportion of all the Sixteen, since (like the Shards as a collective) they come from Adonalsium-as-a-whole.
  2. How honorable are the Honorspren who ruled Lasting Integrity, like Sekeir? Not very. For that matter, how Odious is El? Not at all. He seems to hate no one. (El, of course, is a Cognitive Shadow, not a spren, but he certainly should have been very influenced by Odium.)
  3. Dalinar beat the crap out of his own king and threatened him into obedience.
  4. My definition of sapience is different. I wonder what Brandon uses.
  5. That isn't something the books have said. We haven't seen a Radiant try to use Warlight at all, but: why wouldn't it work? It's half Stormlight (same as Towerlight is).
  6. Of course. Haven't you? I don't like the taste of cadmium at all.
  7. Hey! In the Postlude, in the Spiritual Realm, Kalak notices something: No, it isn't. Highspren don't look like that. It has to be the Wind.
  8. @bmcclure7, I'm actually quite sure that I can't burn any metals at all, being a non-Allomancer.
  9. Not all of them. Honor has developed sapience. In WaT. The topic of this whole spoiler area ....
  10. We don't know any of that. It's certainly one plausible way to read it, but ... Remember the original Oathpact? It bound Odium using the power of another shard (and the Heralds' Connection to Odium). I contend that Oathpact 2 binds Honor-as-part-of-Retribution using the Wind's power (and the Heralds' Connection to Honor). Note that the new Herald, Kaladin, has a very strong Connection to Honor as a Fifth Ideal Windrunner (the Windrunners being very close to Honor in the Eye of the Almighty diagram). For that matter, thanks to Moash Kaladin has a Connection to Odium. His eyes actually turned red at one point. I'm saying that the Connected Shard is not the one powering the Oathpact. Can't prove that, it's just my interpretation.
  11. In chapter 145 we see this: By Adonalsium's strength? What? Who? Adonalsium is dead. How could he be protecting the spren? Well, we know of one bit of Adonalsium's power that was involved in the creation of the new Heralds. So, Retribution (as Honor and Odium) is referring to the Wind. She is a Splinter of Adonalsium. It's her power (the "bit of a god" that Ishar said was required to make Kaladin immortal) that's protecting the spren, along with the power of the oath.
  12. Nobody has been smart enough to set up the conflict. (Yes, I mean that I'm smarter than the Shards of Adonalsium.)
  13. Wouldn't it be Harmony vs. Retribution? Did you not use that to avoid spoilering the front page? I can see Sazed doing a clever thing. Retribution harms his people, and then Harmony demands his right to take retribution for this offense. His own Intent requires Retribution to harm himself. Of course, that would ruin the space war era of the Cosmere, so it won't happen.
  14. Retribution? How did you get to posting here, Taravangian? Is this where you're hiding while you prepare to confront the Cosmere?
  15. You just made me think that El should be the next Vessel. He's the calmest person in the Cosmere, and the most self-controlled.
  16. We've already had Odium and Ishar both say that the power binds you more strongly, the longer you hold it.
  17. Is it worth mentioning that Retribution is more limited than Honor or Odium? It channels the powers into a very narrow set of possible actions. For instance, Retribution can't betray (like Odium does).
  18. Sorry about the vague title, but they appear on the Forum's front page and have to be spoiler-free. In WaT chapter 144, Kaladin's impression as he becomes a Herald: Stability? Did Sazed-as-Harmony (or Preservation) help create the new Heralds? What other Shard would have stability as an attribute?
  19. You're describing Komashi and the Shroud, you realize?
  20. Syl explains how truespren are created: from regular spren. What she describes isn't spontaneous, but it is the transformation of windspren into Honorspren.
  21. I agree that Kaladin overpowers Wax, and I even said that upthread from here. I just don't think Wax is helpless. Don't forget, Wax is now a Mistborn. He could burn bendalloy and fire 20 rounds from inside a speed bubble in 1/10 of a second. Yes, Kaladin also gets speed, a different way, as a Herald, but still impressive. Also, as a Mistborn who is a Skimmer, he can compound iron. I have no idea what that would let him do, mind you. Yank really hard on metal?
  22. Many ways, most obviously by having a certain gunsmith create a steel bullet with a thin aluminum coating. Trivial, now that they have electricity on Scadrial. Don't underestimate the advantage that better technology will give the Scadrians in the coming war.
  23. I agree, @Wax. Way too much very specific modern English slipped in. I was jarred by someone referring to "200 proof" alcohol. They developed the same test for the potency of liquor as Nineteenth Century England? (The term is older, but that's when the current meaning became part of the language. Of course, its more complicated than that ....)
  24. As Hoid points out, the end of sunlight will mean that plants will die out on most of Roshar's land mass, except for the ones kept alive by Warlight. Azir, mountaintops (above the Everstorm), and the Reshi Isles that are greatshells will still have plant life, as will the oceans (I assume). What ecosystem? It'll be Investiture-sustained agriculture or nothing.
