What is the meaning of the title Highlord?
SirNoSell replied to pjmaster78's topic in Stormlight Archive
I believe becoming a Shardbearer automatically makes you 4th Dahn. I'm not sure whether Amaram held that rank before he achieved his shards or not. -
There was also this post shared. Now I'm not sure if that means he can't say more because there's no character or that he can't say more as it would mean spoiler. I going with the very hard latter and saying that this confirms an actual Bondsmith character.

Maybe it's the ancient Bondsmith Melishi. We know the stormfather than store memories. Maybe Dalinar has access to ancient Bondsmith wisdom kinda like Aang Avatar but he isn't there yet in power?

theory Near East mythology, Heralds and the new Oathpact
SirNoSell replied to KandraAllomancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
I like this, in my mind the idea of Jezrien has always reminded of what you would get when you mash together King Arthur and Judeo-Christian Jesus. -
is Sadeas a Willshaper? Is he the uncut gem?

I think you made this statement with a very strong preconception that radiants can only do certain things because said oaths. That couldn't further from the truth, not every order thinks the same, in fact plenty of orders had people with that can contradict one another's temperament.i.e. Willshapers & Lightweavers. An edgedancer who is a master duelist is going to have different outlook on combat and war as a pose to an edgedancer who is the village healer. Every oath is subjective even if they follow an objective structure if that makes sense. Even if what you said was true, it's kind of makes no sense and defeats the purpose of a military organisation that is the KR. Are you telling me that the KR would knowingly employ people to persecute a war against the Dark Lord's army who use questionable means? They would not only run the risk of screwing with their oaths but just funneling people over to Odium's side. KR are literally the closest things to what the average person should aspire to act like, as they started from their lowest points in life and built themselves to an even higher level of living. War is a huge part of the Desolations if not the biggest, not being there to support the people as their conducting it is a huge folly.

[OB] Who do you think the other Bondsmiths will be?
SirNoSell replied to teknopathetic's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think it might have been in TWoK but I don't have the quote word for word. I'll have a look for it and post it here when I can. -

Last time I checked, Nohadon was confirmed to be a Windrunner. -
I was thinking that they turn their ugliness into art. Think Sander Cohen from Bioshock.

It's funny you say that because when I read the KR Quiz descriptions for the Willshapers, I got some serious revolutionary vibes but obviously without the indiscriminate slaughter of the innocent and guilty.

I've come up with a little mini theory on how Kaladin will swear the fourth oath. Feel free to delete this if someone's already mentioned it. We know that the ideal is somewhere along the lines of giving up on lost causes when necessary so the theory goes as follows. We remember that at the end of TWoK all the bridgemen from Sadeas' camp were set free but those that remained numbered roughly 2,000 if I remember correctly which is the amount of a battalion. Since he's properly recognised as a Bright Lord now I can assume that he's been given a higher rank like Battalion or perhaps even General, therefore more men under his command but that isn't the main point I'm trying argue. What if during the conflicts as an officer he is hesitant to commit troops lives in certain engagements that would have undoubtedly led to more substantial victories and less losses. What if he finds himself in a key battle and has commit a good number of lives in order to achieve victory and in doing so achieves the fourth ideal while fighting. Just to be extra I could see him inspiring the soldiers and therefore using his new tuned powers to save those he can. A bittersweet growth for him. That would be an epic reveal for his shardplate and go in hand with what Brandon would want but maybe this is too obvious.

Bondsmith Oaths (Based on Interfaith Dialogue)
SirNoSell replied to Karger's topic in Stormlight Archive
The parties involved I believe, I guess you might measure this by them coming to decisions that are close to mutually beneficial for everyone. -
Bondsmith Oaths (Based on Interfaith Dialogue)
SirNoSell replied to Karger's topic in Stormlight Archive
That's interesting. How about "I shall not judge but instead encourage them when they thread the right path." -
I think an argument can be made Edgedancers would have squires. I remember off the top of my head where Wyndle was saying something about Cultivation wanting to mould Lift into an ideal Edgedancer or something of the sort. I just find it difficult to believe that an order that bond with 'cultivationspren' and are seen as 'regal' wouldn't have a close following enough to have squires. Cultivating others to elevate themselves to be their highest potential and care of others.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me, as far as we know there were four Heralds there that night(Jezrien, Nale, Kalak & Ash, perhaps five if you possibly count Chana. I can't imagine he completely ignored that night.

Lol, good genes maybe?

I thought so at first as well but I doubt that Navani went all the way with someone else. Perhaps she broke her oath by NOT loving him during the course of their marriage. Or she entertained someone else's advances without committing to it. Navani did tell Dalinar early on in TWoK that she was loyal and then at her wedding she admitted to broken oaths. She would have told Dalinar about it and we the readers would definitely know about it.

I thought the same thing. Or that he just wanted the attention of the title rather than commit to the role.

Looking at the strategies of both sides for ending a desolation
SirNoSell replied to Oltux72's topic in Stormlight Archive
Future Sight is inconsistent. Odium's admitted that he can't always see what will happen. That's stuff we'll have to find out, there's so much we don't know. The Stormfather theorised that they didn't know what they were getting into, so perhaps Honor might have left out the part of eternal torment at the hands of the ones they were imprisoning. -
Not necessarily, plate can be completely destroyed for good. It's possible they could have been recovered and then subsequentially annihilated. Not sure about shardblades though, they might be fine.

do windrunners have access to spiritual adhesion like bondsmiths
SirNoSell replied to a topic in Stormlight Archive
Short answer, I doubt it. We know that two orders can have access to the same surge but use it differently. For example, Shallan and Renarin's use of Illumination is totally different(Physical vs Spiritual) however we're not sure if this is due to the corruption of Glys. -
