  1. Well it was a while when I made it but it's basically a form of intangibility that can be used banish or disrupt connections. They aren't like Bondsmiths obviously but they have a small inclining of said power can hamper connections with voidspren and the saintwalker would use that to help the person break free. The corrupted version is basically disrupting a voidbringer's connection to their voidspren and using that power to fuel their surges but this has serious drawbacks.
  2. Truthwatchers - Keenspren Skybreakers - Starspren
  3. Funny, I kind of see Nale as more of an anti-hero.
  4. Agreed, maybe a mercy killing because he was going insane and she just happened to form plans around that?
  5. I don't think it will be social darwinism as the definition is in favour of things like political conservatism and imperialism. Both things that go against growth and passion. I'd argue more of Ultra Darwinism like Spartan-Era Eugenics and social acceptance/indifference of cannabilism when necessary.
  6. For some reason I don't think Odium 'killed' Honor the way we think. Perhaps the God of law broke a fundamental big one and Honor thinks Odium was the cause and Odium just took credit for it. Just spitballing, hardly any thought to this.
  7. Completely agree.
  8. The fused that battled Jasnah used Progression. I agree if Odium had his own surge it would replace Adhesion.
  9. Oh not at all. I was disputing that their connection about the Dustbringers and Skybreakers sharing a surge just because they have dubious standards hardly means there's a connection to Odium. This thread after all is arguing for Odium's surge not Cultivation, hence my confusion. As for the Progression it's possible but I was focusing on the example rather than the idea itself and the explanation for me doesn't hold weight. But it's possible I guess.
  10. I agree, typing this up I knew I was grasping at straws as I was trying to keep the theme of protection and I was thinking, 'what is the next step after protecting people from external threats, subjective protection and acceptance of helplessness in some situations.' Maybe with Kal's new life path he seems to be taking, 'I will protect the best way possible.' On the other hand, the choice of wording might be what exactly sets ideal five against the rest.
  11. Maybe or maybe she's just farther along her ideals like Kaladin. Lift had sworn the third ideal not long after Kaladin, who knows how far she's progressed. The surges themselves had nothing to do with Kaladin and Lift being conscious otherwise Teft who was also pretty far along wouldn't have been passed out for so long. I'm finding it difficult to understand where you're trying to go with this point and how it relates to the OP.
  12. Yes, she is a unique case because she's the only radiant that uses Lifelight to fuel her Surgebinding hence why she cna only invest when she eats food.
  13. No RoW pretty much made this open and shut. If there is a 'unique' surge to a Shard, it's Adhesion for Honor. Dustbringers are actually neutral. Skybreakers just happen to be following a crazy millenia old man cos he's the most based Skybreaker available which isn't saying much.
  14. Not sure if I have much to go off of this but I think it will be something like "I will lead by example." We forget that other big attribute for Windrunners is leadership and the best way to lead is by being something that people want to aspire to. This also ties into protecting people from themselves as with a lack of positive role models you tend to lean towards quite a few things you'll regret.
  15. Bondsmiths - Gloryspren? Windrunners - Windspren Skybreakers - Starspren? Dustbringers - Flamespren? Edgedancers - Keenspren? Truthwatchers - Rainspren? Lightweavers - Creationspren? Elsecallers - Logicspren? Willshapers - Musicspren? Stonewards - Stonespren?
  16. What? Surge spren?
  17. 1) Talenel 2) Jezrien 3) Chanarach 4) Nale 5) Ishar 6) Vedel 7) Shalash 8) Kalak 9) Palilah 10) Battar
  18. damnation son, would you like a ladder for all this REACHING you're doing?
  19. Hmm going off what people have said about subspren lacking sentience or essentially being an 'animal' I agree with some people that are saying we're still missing something. What I think is that sapient spren are the homosapiens and subspren are the neanderthals. Syl refers to them as cousins yet obviously windspren and honorspren are completely different.
  20. It's funny you mention stoneward because I think he has the characteristics more in line with a Willshaper.
  21. I think this is just a variation on the Sadeas glyph.
  22. I don't think he ever does wish is what surprises me. I believe either Adolin or Dalinar threw theirs once. I just assumed that since the connection is deeper with a Radiant that there would be more leeway with recalling and dismissing blades.
  23. Yeah, I've always thought that throwable shard weapons would be overpowered as all hell. Huge shuriken from Naruto come to mind. Heck I'm surprised Kaladin doesn't use his spear as more of a javelin more often.
  24. I think chasmfiends have some special involvement in the desolations. Not sure though.
  25. I could see this definitely happening. For how stubborn both of them are, Kaladin and Lirin are so alike plus it helps that Stonewards and Windrunners are both sides of the same coin depending on how you look at it. While were on the topic of Kal's family and radiants, what do you guys think of Hesina being an Edgedancer: She was of somewhat noble birth but she didn't care that her soon to be husband was of lesser status. She helps assist her husband in some ways with his work as well as takes care of the townspeople when she can by cleaning houses and removing crem. Edgedancers liked to live in towns to provide aid. This is important as she was adamant about remaining in Hearthstone like her husband when Roshone kicked up a fuss. She speaks eloquently and expects her son to do the same, she has a level of refinement something Edgedancers display. EDIT: Also, Edgedancers were the most religious of all the orders. Something Hesina is also quite fervent about.
