  1. You are correct, actually, that is a crackpot theory I think if Odium combined with Honor, he would be Vengeance, because vengeance is punishment exacted for a wrong. Pursuing honor hatefully, in a way. I’m not sure what Odium and Cultivation would be, but I’ll think about it.
  2. I’m not sure, but I do think they are in-world depictions. And no one has seen the Heralds in thousands of years. In my opinion, I think these are about as accurate as the modern day depictions of Jesus of Nazareth are.
  3. I do agree with your point here, but in my opinion, since saying Native American is considered politically correct over Indian (though they never had anything to do with India), likewise is singers “politically correct” (or just correct, if you want) over Voidbringers, though they have been known to humankind for nearly 5,000 years as Voidbringers. So as I know people nowadays who still use the term Indians all the time, because “that’s what they’re called,” I see people on Roshar doing similarly.
  4. I've noticed a small trend in just these first chapters of Rhythm of War that seem to, in my opinion, start setting up Roshar for a modern era quite rapidly. For this post I have gathered 3 instances, though I'm sure someone has found more. Abolishing Slavery Obviously one of the most noticeable ones, but yes, abolishing slavery would bring Roshar into a more modern-era, or one closer to the world we have. You can't completely stamp out all prejudice and discrimination but this is a step forward. Politically Correct (or whatever you want to call it, see ensuing discussion) I can't think of any other time right now that a more 'politically correct' term is being used over a more common and kinda misleading term. I thought this was an interesting detail to put in and it reminds me a lot of these present times. Even when the majority come to political correctness and call the singers, "singers", there will always be the stubborn ones that, to them, the singers will forever be Voidbringers because they are. Vaccines And vaccines are becoming a thing. After more research is done, people will be skeptical at first, but then everyone will get vaccinated and will eliminate all diseases and the population of Roshar will increase dramatically as the average lifespan skyrockets. At least, that's how I think it would play out, let me know if you think it'll play out any other way. So what do you think? Do you see the rise of other ideas and things as well? I was a little surprised at how rapid it seemed, but they could be entering a new Enlightenment age or something similar, if you know what I mean. What else will we see next, or what would you like to see? The discussion is now yours.
  5. Eh, sometimes I check out my local library beforehand but usually I just purchase it.
  6. Ah yes, but the problem with that thought is the fact that that you thought of Wyoming. Key difference. and yes, that map seems fairly accurate
  7. They would have to wait until then to get the Capricorn, or so they thought.
  8. Knight took the lemonade and the popcorn and began the process of consumption.
  9. The fact that Jasnah's sexual identity is a small spoiler for the book as well as a planned relationship with a man leads me to believe Jasnah and Hoid may actually end up a thing. It's entirely possible from Hoid's end.
  10. I'm just interested now that he's implying Jasnah and Hoid are actually together, considering I theorized otherwise previously.
  11. It is tradition in our family to separate the holiday in which we receive gifts under a Christmas tree and the holiday in which celebrate Christ's birth. So on actual Christmas we chill around all religious-like and then we open presents and all the other stuff like a week before.
  12. It doesn't exist, South Dakota just extends upwards to border Canada.
  13. Oops. Nice catch, that's my bad. South Dakota, bordering Canada, yes.
  14. No, not a state. It's a mythical faraway land known as "North Dakota".
  15. love it lol, made my day
  16. And then someone asked what is a Ghanderflaffle.
  17. I live in a top secret state in the United States that no one knows about, or knows anything about (except 3rd graders who have to recite the capital). I think the other states have just forgotten about us.
  18. Random note:
  19. If anyone wants to I am still available for being memed.
  20. Nice art! 9.90025 out of 11.01114.
  21. In my opinion, Words of Radiance is the best of the three. I loved the first one, but obviously it didn't delve into as much as magic as the other two. Oathbringer was great too, but it got a little slow at times. Words of Radiance pulled some really strong feelings out of me, especially when Kaladin redeems himself near the end. That's got to be one of my favorite scenes of all time.
