  1. If he really wanted to just free the singers, he would have released Ba-Ado-Mishram. We know he had conferred with the heralds, which, as we see with Kelek, know about the situtation with the unmade and the minds of Parshmen. I cant even remember if we canonically know he thought about the parshmn being released as ""voidbringers""- surely if he did he would have thought of some precautionary measures for the safety of his rule, like Jasnah did in the earlier series, right?
  2. I don't know what the first image can be that fits, but then it goes ()-inn-arrr coal-in, so. It's dalinar kholin! 10 hours ago, hoiditthroughthegrapevine said:
  3. I agree with you on some, less on other's, but. this isn't even about arguing for disagreeent sake: if you "saw absolutely no willshaper powers or purpose for that matter " in Venli's parts you might want to. Read again. we saw in her working the stones- a surge we have barely seen enough of before with Dalinar- something that even Khriss found important (stones and Connection). We learned the basis of Willshaper ideals of freedom and how they need to go above personal freedom and into helping the freedom of others- even people on the Other Side, because it is Right (possibly indicating Willshaper spren are more honor aligned than cultivation), learned that the willshaper spren chose to align themselves in the war with the listeners as more than a one time thing, and even tho i agree the flashbacks were. P useless and Ill-fitting, especially compared to Sanderson's, i think that by combination with venli's sins AND with her current story arc and specifically willshaper ideals they give her character some meaning. She was bratty and selfish and she just saught attention and ego, and Timbre was definitely initially attracted to Eshonai, but she is learning to be better and defend a child in a cage.
  4. What about Cunning? the most Machiavellian side of Adonalsium. Odium may be Adonalsium's rage and hatred, but Cunning would have been the part of him trying to maneuver and control the world, the part that liked to move the strings and most of all, control others. the magic system and general cultural affect of this Shard on it's planet would reward a cutthroat type of constant competitions, maybe with powers to manuver and control people and circumstances- maybe similar to emotional allomancy or, at their highest manifestations, creating Connections.
  5. this isn't useful but this wording reminded me of the beginning of The Snow Queen and i think it's funny adsjfdad
  6. @Spren of KindnessWell. Without ROW spoilers, Mraize's presence and having both a masked southern scadrian and a big green Aviar, we know they are available around the cosmere at the same time, so, Avair are available for purchasing/generally bonding in a time frame where presumably Kelsier is out there, world-hopping, presumably trying to gather anything that will make him stronger and better. The most common variety of Aviar that we know of work by blocking a person's presence from mind probing- like allomantic copper- and from being sense by an awakener's life sense. that would be great for Kelsier, sneaky-man in chief, made even sneakier by he fact he's operating entirely from the shadows nowadays, hiding from humans and shardic forces alike! It's good for him and he can get it, and Kelsier, Survivor Of Hathsin, does not miss on opportunities for new magic boosts (11th metal?) Theory: Bert from Mary Poppins is Hoid (I hope this is allowed...)
  7. Branderson has said Lift will be an important (and flashback) character at the back five stormlightboks, that is, the arc afterthis one- books 6-10. the thing is, i do not know how to interpert this- to me it means its either very likely she will be Dalinar's champion, or not likely at all, depending on how you spin it. Anyways I hope it is the lift-szeth buddy cop comedy we were all memeing about after Oathbringer.
  8. Well, we do know of another use of Investiture than can store memories, but you are right, this is a lot more accessible. This could be another unexpected use for the Medalions, tho- Help For Immortals. The fact Hoid needs them might shed some light into the coin Wax was given- one of the questions that bothered me about it is why would kelsier, and experienced thief, be recording his movements.
  9. I honestly think it's the other way round. Look how cosmere aware Shai was- I wouldn't be suprised if the name she knows came from a different world.
  10. I am not a scientist, but when the stormfather talks about the two pieces of cloth and the power of connection... (Chapter 66) It sounds a little bit like Quantum Entanglement. I asked my friend who has an interest in physics and he agrees too. The stormfather cuts of before he says what a bondsmith can do with it, but generally, does anyone have ideas what are to possible applications, based on modern theorys of entanglement, around the idea of a bondsmith activating a spiritual version of active entanglement between two subjects?
  11. I had a few ideas (the new contract not actually banishing Odium to braize or tying the Fused and the Voidspren, the fact Tarvi was not looking at the PAST- the wording of the contract itself but at the POSSIBILITIES- THE FUTURE- when he realized the loophole) but by the evidence gathered and by Ocams's razor, the Child solution or the Draw solution seem most likely. I particularly favour the Draw solution because both hoid's story and his narration in the epilogue both focus on the idea of a disasterous draw, and in the epilogue he has the "UNLESS" right after the phrase "no matter what". Though it might be a false lead, something he intends for Odium to learn, if he predicted that his memories will be stolen like some shraders suggested in other threads. I can TELL I will be thinking this issue over every night for years now, huh.
  12. I would say what you're describing is Entitlement- "I need this, and my needs are at the top". But wouldn't that just be a mean, extreme version of Autonomy?
  13. This development has been predicted for years now, so the list ahead is less "my theories" and more "the conclusions fandom seems to agree upon". The ? Marks more uncertain areas. Bondsmith- gloryspren Elsecaller- logicspren (?) Lightweaver- creativityspren (?) Edgedancer- lifespren The rest I don't know/ haven't heard theories about.
  14. Exactly what I was thinking! We've seen obsessing over aluminium as a way of stopping/blocking investiture for years cuz the idea of disabling magic is obviously important to us. So this? Anti-versions of investiture that can destroy it when in contact? This is BIG. Also When you talk sbout "destroying the planet" you're making me think maybe anti-light had to do with Ashyn. ANYWAYS. Can anti light fuel devices / things keyed to anti light? Who is it Connected to? Is anti-voidlight Connected to odium as "his investiture" and if so, would Anti-Stotmlight weapons be able to affect odium connected things differently? This is BIG.
  15. I kept thinking about this the whole time! The one person with fully functioning magic in the urithiru occupation, and the book made it clear early on he can still use i and is not trying ot hide it, I was wondering if he's gonna come to play in the battle, and expecting that even if he wouldn't (and that could be a little too deus-ex-machina for a series meant to focus on rosharans) he would at least, like, be mentioned. But the option that he's napping through it all/ Making grouchy noises and not helping just out of Don't Care Let Me Do My Chores IS v hilarious so like, I like how it turned out.
  16. I've been thinking about this myself! I was going to post asking do people think there are Tone components to other systems as well or is it just a roshar thing, butt you present a rock-solid case as far as i can see. I've been thinking about the importance of Waves now more than ever. cuz like, light and sound are just different kinds of wavelengths, and we have branderson confirmation that lightweavers for instance can not only work with sound and light, but with other wavelengths too- like LASERS. so this just means that we, as humans who rely a lot on our visual and vestibular senses, have been interperting magic and investiture mostly in what it can do to objects and what we can see it do, and now the more we learn about these vibrations and of the rhythms, we are seeing it is recognizable in another separate sets of wavelengths- sound and vibrations moving through the air. On the applications side of things: Science is NOT my forte, but maybe similar to how lightweavers can interact with both light and sound, maybe other wave-related abilities we already know can be expanded into this new territory? I'm really interested in what we learned about the way singers and listeners hear different emotional rhythms based on the main shard they're Connected to. If i was a silverlight mad scientist ofdubious morals, you'd find me shipping of singer babies all over the place.
  17. Me, who did not pick up on that at first, and only realized it MIGHT be a thing WHILE later thinking back on the rings: *awkward look aside* You made some absolutely fascinating points. I am currently digging through Cultivation related WoB's, and so far found a paraphrased 2013 WoB that she and honor were in fact romanticallly involved, which migh support point 3. The connection you made to Cephandrius is brilliant - I read the letters again TODAY and didn't even come close to thinking about that- and i really think it's correct. Thank you!
  18. In his gruffy grace, Nazh gave us some really useful information- amongst his glyphes for Rayse and Tanavast, the third glyph which would obviously be Cultivation reads "Koravari's light", and Nazh specifices "obviously refers to Koravellium Avast, She Who Brings the Dew at Dawn". It's amazing to know culti's name a last, but... it's a bit of an odd one, isn't it. Three things about it stand out to me- 1) What's up with the title? we haven't seen any shards with that before. and he doesn't refer to her as simply as "thats a version of ()'s name", like he does with tanavast and rayse, implying the familiarity of khriss with the object. could it be this isn't Cultivation? or does he have the title because of cultural differences between her and other shards? (dragon cultivation, anyone?) and why did he mention it instead of just saying her name, like he didn't call tanavast Bringer Of Storms or whatever? 2) The -ium suffix is weird. If we take Nazh's version of the name at point-value, Cultivation's god-metal would be Koravelliumium. Or Koravellium Avastium, which is only slightly less silly. could this not be the purest version of her name, but a reference to some aspect of her? 3) Avast, like in Tanavast. Is this a coincidence, a sign of being from the same culture as him (like a lot of alethi names end with -ar or -in), or something else? a posible theory is thtat the "title" is a translation of the name, meaning Avast might have something to do with Dawn, which means Tanavast's name is contains that idea too. seeming what we recently learned on dawnshards, this could become important or at least interesting. What are your thoughts?
  19. Happy confirmation for all of you in the ace community! I'm v happy for you all.
  20. I spent trans day of rememberence this year binging, so i couldn't comment here in time, but late acknowledgment of the day and Rest In Power to our fallen trans siblings. I hope y'all have a grand trans awareness week- or, what's left of it!
  21. In Hozier's "Nohing This post has been reported for attempting to skirt the rules* With My Baby" there's a verse that goes "If i was born as a blackthorn tree/ I'd wanna be felled by you / held by you/ fuel the pyres of your enemie". I always shudder a little when i hear it because of the meaning it gets through a stormlight lense. Also, Warriors by imagine dragons is just about the return of the radiants, isn't it.
  22. Someone right in front of me in line in the Tel Aviv signing asked it too (my mother was planning to ask it but she asked something different) so yeah, i felt the same too when it happened! OUR RAFO HAPPENED! it was a p cool feeling.
  23. Me too! I really do actively HOPE it's just hoid being hoid with weird framing devices as an excuse for Brandon to tip his hat at a fellow writer insead of a big cosmere secret.
  24. If anyone knows anything about me is that I adore shakadolin as Adolin Has Two Hands, Kaladin and Shallan are friends. but i didnt put it i because i do not consider it weird, and also have been shipping it for. agesss now so.
  25. Would this require voice chat? If not, I can volunteer for Hebrew. I know 2-weeks-of-duolingo level german, but I don't think that will interfere.
