All the People We Haven't Considered for Odium's Champion
mathiau replied to Lightdancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
Probably by stopping the rotation of Roshar. I mean, we still haven't heard of that "Night of Sorrow" thing. -

That wouldn't make the sky literally broken, you would have a zone of eternal dawn/sunset. Half of the people would see it as day and half as night which might create a broken sky in Shadesmare but the sky of Shadesmare is weird enough that I think you'd need more than that to have a broken sky (unless I'm mistaken there's no daylight cycle there and the sky doesn't change?). Also Taldain is confirmed to be isolationist and I think it have an effect on how easy it's to get there, one that would be seen on the map. The Nexus of Truth seems to connect Roshar to Sel, not to Ashyn. Hmmm... Galivar mention Braize had to be connected to Roshar since there was a way to go there in Shadesmare and some people said Ishi -who was already the binder of God- had made the people come to Roshar, no? Maybe he had created a temporary connection from Ashyn to Roshar that is now gone? If I'm right about Ashynites originating from Sel (and possibly having left it when Odium shattered Dom and Dev) then it would make sense for them to appear on the way between Roshar and Sel.

More of a question for everyone else here than you, but am I the only one who's confuse whenever I read about Rushu in SA ever since I know you?

It doesn't actually. If the Expanse of the Broken Sky is Ashyn and Ashyn is hard to get too, why would Braize not be in the expanses around Roshar? We're not assuming this barren world is the Expanse of Vibrance, are we?

Odium's forces use the corrupted rhythms like emotional allomancy
mathiau replied to mdross81's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Seeing idealized version of oneself is more of a temporal effect while emotional manipulation would be more a cognitive one, honestly it really remind me of A-Gold and A-Malatium shadows. And yes he does that to both Moash and Adolin, by the way in the case of Adolin it was a side effect of progression and not illumination. It could be intended as manipulation too but the Progression one really sounds like "let's make you what you can be" in a Cultivation/Endowment way more than in a manipulative way. It's the scene Renarin show he can summon Glys as a blade, near the end he uses Regrowth to heal Adolin's wrist and for a time Adolin feels like he can see a perfected version of himself. Also, I see neither of your quote include my edit about El, is it because you didn't see it or because you don't know? -
Odium's forces use the corrupted rhythms like emotional allomancy
mathiau replied to mdross81's topic in Cosmere Discussion
After reflection, the new Rhythms are essentially the old ones but with the Honout/Cultivation core replaced by Odium's one, right? It could actually be a form of corruption. And it would finally give some sense as to why Regals have red eyes while Renarin and Lift don't when using the wrong light to power their abilities. Are El's eyes red? -

mathiau replied to mdross81's topic in Cosmere Discussion
On one hand Odium's Rhythms are not corrupted, they're just Odium's Rhythms. But on the other hand it seems you're right about the emotional manipulation -

I had misunderstood your parenthesis and understood the exact opposite. I had always understood crushes and virtual strangers as just sexual attraction. Was I wrong? I think this is just normal ace+not aro, not having a sex drive doesn't mean it doesn't feel good. Though I too am far from an expert. I think Hoid's weird fortune power could easily make him the most utilitarian person in the Cosmere, and if there's a third option it's likely he'd be able to guess it. And honestly using the relationship as a leveraged against him would definitely fail, they've got less than a century to spend together and Hoid still have millennia to live.

theory Blackened Wounds [Discuss]
mathiau replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That is good point, but in this other (more recent) WoB he confirmed at least some Shards have a colour. Whether Ruin has one is definitely RAFO though- 21 replies

mathiau replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Ok. Didn't know it was possible Ruin and Preservation's colour is a weird topic (btw seon and skaze are respectively black and white implying the same polarization happened on Sel) Honestly I have no idea whether Ruin's kinetic investiture should be black or whatever colour he actually is.- 21 replies

Yes, the WoB says space is short because it has no human interaction in it. Interesting. When you go to the far left of the map I guess at some point you have to chose between going south to get to the Expanse of Vibrance or north for the Expanse of the Densities

If the distance between words doesn't exist because people don't think about it, the curvature of the planet probably doesn't exists for the same reason. This of course raises a few questions, in the space age, when people think far more about the distance between planets and planets being spheres, does shadesmare became made of spherical planets separated from each others?
-
We don't. But this one seems to be going away from Roshar, and is the only mass of mountain of the external ocean.

It could also become a far smaller spren than these two

theory Blackened Wounds [Discuss]
mathiau replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in Cosmere Discussion
When people are sick their skin turn white, I'm not a doctor but I'm pretty sure it's because the blood flow near the skin is reduced in order to increase the body temperature. When people over-exert themself their skin turns red for the exact opposite reason. I'm honestly not sure why Kal's skin would have change colour from investiture exertion unless there's a magical process causing it.- 21 replies
