  1. Hmm... that could mean a bunch of things, like literally send something flying via Gravitation or A-Steel, or encouraging someone to yeet someone in a fight or a "fly you fools" style hurry-up, for sending a message instead of telling someone to flee. Can we cut it up and guess the speaker or recipient separately? Or do we have to guess/remember the specific scene or circumstance? Edit: okay, so I accidentally found a thread which contained this extract of the conversation while looking for something else, so I'll have to leave this round to others. Good one, Kingsdaughter! I don't think I'd have guessed that.
  2. Eheheh Maya with Adolinblade
  3. Moash didn't even know that Elhokar was trying to change. Last he saw of him, he was drunk and irresponsible, getting saved by the person whom he tried to sentence to death at the arena. When did Moash ever get a chance to do some introspection? He was a slave in Bridge 4, then the Diagram approached him with their conspiracy, after that he was even more traumatized and in a mental haze after it all went wrong, then Odium indoctrinated him.
  4. I'm surprised that the kick thing comes up that often tbh, it came up in the Moash thread I created as well. I read it as him shoving Gavinor away with his foot. Regardless, he literally speared his father's face twice right in front of him, so why does the kick supersede something like that in the minds of so many readers?
  5. That's the correct answer! Though this is pretty solid too, @Kingsdaughter613, wish I had thought of that!
  6. Also true, but nope! 1) This character is a figurehead leader 2) This character got into their position based on their looks
  7. True! But not who I'm looking for! Next guess!
  8. Eheheh Okay, my turn! 1) This character is a figurehead leader
  9. Oooh, I just realized- I think those branch looking things from Yolen might've been Tamu Keks! Looking at the other things in Mraize's collection A vial of pale sand refers to white sand from Taldain, it's confirmed* A couple of thick hairpins probably refers to Hemalurgic spikes? Might refer to Soulstamps? A lock of golden hair, probably the Royal Locks of Idris from Nalthis A silver knife from Threnody An odd flower preserved in some kind of solution could refer to Tears of Edgli from Nalthis (they are Invested)*, it could also refer to Patji's Fingers flowers from First of the Sun (they're Invested as we see in the novella, and the Ghostbloods already have Aviar from there, so they can definitely access the place), or Marewills from Scadrial (though those are not Invested objects but Thaidakar is Kelsier) The chunk of pale pink crystal is confirmed to be an aether*
  10. Seconding the fake out deaths, I mean those worked on me, tbh but that doesn't change the fact that there's been too many of them!
  11. Honor lookin kinda sus Oh, I was just going to pose it as a question in Cosmere Q&A! Yeah, it could go either way, though I think it's more likely a Connection between commander & troop. Even if that Connection wasn't an example of this, this does remind me of a similar scene. I recall Dalinar using Connection with an Azish soldier to speak Azish. I don't remember how exactly that scene played out, Dalinar might not have seen any pre-existing Connection between himself and the soldier and forged one himself, so we'll have to check. Update: nope, there doesn't seem to be a preexisting Connection here
  12. Oh drats Rereaders Yes, it's Breeze
  13. Huh, that line is very Hoidish. But nope, neither of them said that
  14. I think I see what the issue is. It's this line: "He was already one of the most powerful men in the kingdom. He could have gone through other methods to change the system", which multiple posters here can argue they've already responded to multiple times. You can't really say the same thing to the same people again and again, and expect different results. And so the argument keeps coming back full circle.
  15. The Everstorm was to bypass the cycle of Desolations, wasn't it? But Odium himself wasn't bound by the Oathpact, that was between the Heralds and the Fused, as well as the Voidspren. Odium was bound by Honor and Cultivation. We're told so in-book by Stormfather and WoB Also, would Odium really need a bridge?
  16. 1) Some conversation acknowledging the Lighteyes/Darkeyes thing that isn't just other characters, including freed slaves, telling Kaladin he shouldn't be so mistrustful of the Lighteyes. We've had multiple instances of this and none of the reverse, where any Darkeyes points out a Lighteyes' prejudice 2) Some LGBT rep in-book that isn't a throwaway line or a very meta commentary 3) That single line where Kaladin says Elhokar is Dalinar's Tien, I hate it so much @Jash, I think you can add the [Support] tag in front on the title of your post. as well as highlight the part where you say what you want people to post in the topic, that you want posters to create their own lists rather than discussing other members' lists.
  17. I always wondered if anyone else interpreted it that way. Still, I think that is a bit of a pipe dream and not something that's possible irl. Will check out some of those other books you recced here, they sound interesting Ah, that makes sense
  18. What other books & authors do you like?
  19. The no politics rule is for particularly contentious current events that serve no purpose as well as current and recent political figures and political parties. Historical figures are fine, but let's be careful about implications that come with them. This really isn't the place to argue legalities or question individual morality though. Let's all take a break?
  20. Yup! Sorry for causing any misunderstandings, definitely wasn't trying to imply anything! I also love Ursula Le Guin, The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas was haunting! Ah, Twitter. I have a problem with that whole sequence with Hermione and S.P.E.W. because it just goes, "people who advocate are annoying", and it's a mindset that I'm noticing a lot more of nowadays. It's even used as a form of rebuttal in discussions like this, just "these discussions are annoying, don't discuss these things", which I thought was relevant on this thread because this feeling was brought up here again.
  21. It's from Mraize's collection: We couldn't figure out where the branch was from, so we got a WoB: Yup, we got it from the Arcanum Unbounded. All expeditions from Silverlight that ventured into Patji did not return.
