There's something about SEL or is there ?
Honorless replied to Friendshipspren's topic in Cosmere Discussion
She used the term 'landscape', not Shardworld, so I just took it to refer to something we've already seen happen rather than create a new theory. As you said, all Investiture if left alone turns sentient but that is exactly why Odium stuffed D&D into the Cognitive Realm, which is region-locked. The magics are also region-locked, somehow differentiating between its own people and others. I just noted a correlation. I don't know about 'isolationism' though, the Shaod does take Dula & Teoish, not just Arelish. Not an outright negation of the idea though, as you may note if you see the last WoB I linked. @PrinceGenocide, Isaac Asimov is an inspiration for Brandon for linking together his books in one universe. The idea that he might also use his idea of Gaia isn't improbable. These are some popular theories actually, look them up, I think you'll enjoy them.- 16 replies

While all the magics etc might allow for a close shave to who comes out on top, if the war is dragged out then Roshar would win. The need for supplies is a big factor in any war that Soulcasting bypasses, plus so many high mobility Orders. But those can still be competed against by Elantrians and certain Metalborn. The deciding factor is that the Knights Radiant can replenish their ranks the fastest in comparison to the others. Allomancy and Feruchemy requires genes, Selish magics require high degree of expertise, Elantrians are chosen by some obscure process set up by Devotion, Awakening requires a huge population to give up their Breaths. Too many advantages stacked up towards the Rosharans. Unless some unknown Selish magic or Awakening technique or very surprising strategic use of Hemalurgy happens, I don't see the other Shardworlds winning.

Still deciding (I was asked this question before, and while I noted the usefulness of certain metals in our world, I skimped out on choosing one)

I wonder if Mennis survived... Ooh, @Mennis what Misting and Ferring abilities would you choose to have?
-
The only example we've seen of Nicrosil Feruchemy is that a Feruchemist storing Investiture in a Nicrosilmind would result in any person tapping that Nicrosilmind to temporarily gain the ability to use Feruchemy to tap Feruchemical attributes.

To note that we've only seen Idris and T'Telir in Warbreaker. Also the Five Scholars split during the Manywar conflict, so other nations like, Tedradel & Gys, as well as the now collapsed nations of Huth & Kuth probably have (& had) knowledge of different uses of Breath and Awakening techniques, and culture that evolved around the magic. So who knows? Maybe in those nations very old people flaunt their Breath-earned age as a symbol of wealth, prestige & power, kind of like the people of Babatharnam on Roshar.

This topic has been discussed before, I'll copy my thoughts on that discussion to over here for the sake of expediency: So, probably not The Dor cannot gain consciousness because it is stuffed in the Cognitive Realm and Sel itself does not qualify as a vessel according to Brandon: On the other hand, there is also this WoB: So, Sel is getting more aware but it might be like a type-2 AI kind of aware rather than true sapience. But who knows? Fingers crossed for Cosmere's own Mogo!- 16 replies

Wit would like a word with you For those who don't know or forgot: It literally translates as "wit-killers", check the meaning for Aon Ene, .

It's okay, you can still quote us! One of my favourites too. But Emperor's Soul stays #1 for me. So, what's your favourite Order of the Knights Radiant? Wait lemme link the thread: Go ahead, we're curious!
-
Oh I didn't see it that way! I thought that was a function of the gemstones but what you said makes much more sense with what we've seen. Thanks!

Granted, in fact here, have all of them! Just swallow this gem and Yelig-Nar will grant you your wish! Hmm... I wish for the power to have multiple autonomous bodies. -
Welcome to the Shard, @MandeepVerma! You can introduce yourself in your own thread. Good to see you mingling with other newbies though. Have fun on the forums, both of you!

Welcome to the Shard, @Zpeedish. I know your pain about no Brandon visits. So which one is your favourite book?

I don't think Baon's statements are unreliable. He seems to have witnessed some of it himself. Though maybe not to the scale of decapitation, but who knows? Regardless, that was just something that I thought I should point out to you because of your theory of Skathan being an Avatar, which I don't agree with. I believe Skathan is utilizing the Shifting Colours somehow. That would also explain Khriss' statement that Autonomy has Invested both Dayside and Darkside, discounting the belief that she had only Invested Dayside.

Well, by that logic Harmony shouldn't have been able to shape Scadrial because it was created by Preservation and Ruin, not him. He could do that because the planet was infused with both the powers, it didn't matter to the power who was holding it at some point in the past, only who is holding it now. Stormfather was gradually given parts of Honor's power and duties, including to be able to create his spren. I don't think Investiture would differentiate that a certain spren was created before the power was given to the Stormfather, just like Scadrial didn't differentiate that Harmony didn't create it. It shouldn't matter that Syl wasn't created by the Stormfather, only that the power to do so now belongs to him. That's because 1) the Fused are Cognitive Shadows sustained by him 2) his Investiture isn't part of the Rosharan ecosystem like Honor's is 3) Odium's intent allows him to do that, Honor's doesn't (like how Preservation couldn't kill). I didn't say Nahel Bond. Only a bond, which it was. I included that instance because it also featured the Stormfather having a say in a bond with spren.

That one might be out-of-date, Karger There were newer WoBs by Brandon on surviving decapitation usually by picking TLR as example, like the one above, either Brandon changed his mind or Peter was misremembering. Ugh, I'm not hunting all of them down.
-
We don't have any reason to assume they were exaggerations. In fact we learn that he can survive being decapitated or blown up/set on fire from those, later confirmed by WoBs as the result of his Compounding
-
We don't know how Soulcasters are made. The material they can Soulcast and the material that they can Soulcast the aforementioned material into seem to be a function of their inset gemstones by virtue of the Ten Essences.

Granted, you now have the knowledge on how to moderate forums as well as Chaos does *narrows eyes* Faster reading speed, huh? Granted I give you the power to memorise a whole book by glancing at it I take away your ability to comprehend any visual output that isn't written language I wish for a certain someone to stop axing their own theories simply because they don't like me and I took an extract or WoB to support their theory *rolls eyes* good luck with making this happen -
We know it to be exaggerated? Give me an extract or WoB

I think primary Surges were not so much inherent to the Orders but simply a natural result of their respective Spren being attracted to specific kinds of people (artists and Illumination) as well as the fact that the Knights Radiant were an Organization with delegation of duties (Elsecallers: diplomatic delegation to the far realm of spren) In the case of Elsecallers specifically, Elsecalling is the name by which the process of utilizing the Surge of Transportation was referred to. And honestly, I feel like Soulcasting is naturally difficult for most people in both Orders and Jasnah just makes it look like it's that easy
-
Another thing in regards to Elsecallers: Didn't add it via edit to previous comments due to it not being directly relevant to the proposed theory, but a potentially interesting thing to note about Elsecallers
