    Whoa
  2. Jasnah raised an eyebrow, "obstinate stick", she thought. She picked it up and gave it to a goat to chew
  3. I've always liked the idea of other Adonalsium-class beings out there, plus there were comments like this: but sadly the story is never gonna go there: so I came up with this theory which fit within the Cosmere
  4. I think this might be one of the better theories on the Nexus(es?), @hoiditthroughthegrapevine! (one of the other ones I remember suggested that they might be the representations of Roshar's three moons)
  5. A good way to sleep off a hangover
  6. Grannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnntttttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~ The Nightwatcher's speech becomes slower and slower till it becomes incomprehensible. And then nothing. Everything is frozen. You can't move, because the very air around you is frozen. Time passes, aons come and go. You're still in that glade, frozen in that one moment of the granting of your ill-fated wish. Unbeknownst to you, The Nightwatcher continues, "your bane is death... or shall I say your boon is death" and summons a sword to swiftly decapitate you. But to you the sword approaches ever so slowly, ever so slightly. A millimetre every one millenia. You watch its approach with terror and elation in your heart. You want release. You don't want to die. You want release. You don't want to die. You want release. Just kill me please. You want release.....
  7. The real interesting thing about Hessi is that she is a contemporary scholar not an ancient one. Jasnah could meet her and tell her that Hessi was right all along. I would love to have Hessi play a role in the series later on.
  8. Yog-Sothoth is the only name that comes close to Yelig-Nar. There are some parallels between the two(if you squint) in that both entities are capable of bestowing power, one by knowledge, the other of the Surges. Both entities can end up consuming the host/being to which power was granted. For Ba-Ado-Mishram, I don't have any linguistic parallels but her intelligence reminds me of Nyarlathotep.
  9. Cultivation appeared before Odium. "You are going down today", she said before attacking- This just gets better and better Ugh Orihime from Bleach, what's she doing here?
  10. The linguistic connections alone show a thematic relationship between the two, I'm all for it!
  11. Yup, there were Aon Dor users before Elantris itself was built. Brandon himself said it best:
  12. Elsecallers and Truthwatchers, I like the latter more but we know less of them, so let's put them on the backburner. I'll go over what we know of the Elsecallers. A scholarly Order, prime liaisons with the spren though Willshapers and Lightweaver also had the ability to visit the realm, one of the Orders who helped map Shadesmar, the Order which was appointed for safekeeping of the perfect gems, Surges: Elsecalling and Soulcasting; the Inkspren are attracted to people who think through decisions rather than acting on instinct, a quality usually associated with scholars, but can also apply to a soldier who thinks things through instead of rushing into battle; Divine Attributes: wise, careful
  13. That shouldn't be possible simply because Soulcasting people is difficult, Soulcasting people with access to Investiture is much more difficult and not possible via normal means. A Fullborn is quite Invested and if they were actively burning you can forget about Soulcasting them completely
  14. Just a feeling. They still fit with the structure you've based them on
  15. What form the magic takes would depend on the world, assuming a blank state where they both influence it, it would depend on how they "code" their newly created Shardworld, let's call it Scathis. So, on Scathis magic would take a form that had equivalent exchange, in my opinion. Something akin to Feruchemy might exist, though it might not be keyed to metal, it would also probably be usable by anyone, like an unkeyed metalmind. It might not necessarily require something external to be exchanged like a metalmind, just people exchanging attributes perhaps. For eg: one person is having trouble sleeping, the other needs to stay awake to study, they just exchange wakefulness. This would be the middle magic, of both Harmony and Endowment. As for their own magics, I imagine they would be somewhat similar to what we see in canon. Endowment's system would probably involve the giving of Investiture to someone or something, creation of automata perhaps. For Harmony, it's more difficult to imagine... If both Shards were on Scadrial, Endowment would have her own godmetal. If both were on Nalthis, Harmony could also create Returned. It fits both Ruin and Preservation's Intent. Beyond that I hesitate to make any guesses but if you want to create a mix of BioChroma and the Metallic Arts for an RPG, go for it!
  16. This is possibly a very pertinent point since we see the three worldhoppers- -from the 17th Shard (not us!) searching for Hoid in the Purelake had spread a disease among the locals. Of course it might also be due to the Purelakers' isolation that they didn't have immunity but the different Shardworlds are very different places with probably very different pathogens. This is something that will need to be addressed. Of course some might find it easier to cope with their particular system of Investiture but not everyone and even they might become carriers, plus, as we see in the example, ambient Investiture means greater health in general not magical immunity.
  17. @Knight of Iron It would seem I would no longer have need of the particular courier I ordered. I have found... another way. I am currently interested in some Rosharan artifacts, which are, I believe, currently safe in Shin. However, an individual has been spied with one of these artifacts outside the protection of her homeland. As it happens it's a mutual acquaintance of ours, the very same one we discussed some time ago. Perhaps you could convince her to... relinquish said artifact. Failing that I have enough resources to organize a manhunt myself, you would then have quite a few competitors in the business, I'm afraid. I await your response eagerly. The One Without Honor
  18. You forgot Breaths for Nalthis. It's the easiest of the magic systems to get your hands on (if you are wealthy) and gives the benefit of health and increased lifespan fairly early on. There are a lot of people who'd want to leave their world to settle elsewhere, Scadrial has a lot of empty land. For Roshar, don't forget Shadesmar. It's like a two-in-one world. Spren are also sapient beings with their own culture.
  19. Because of Stormfather's comment to Dalinar regarding Cohesion in one of his visions? That got cleared up by Peter actually. Cohesion is not a Surge that Bondsmiths can use, the Radiant was a Stoneward which wasn't retconned, which clears that up. So Willshapers have: Transportation and Cohesion Hmm... well technically she was doing Odium's bidding there I like the foundation that you've built their Ideals on. Their Divine Attributes are supposed to be Resolute & Builder. They are discoverers, adventurers and explorers, researchers, resource providers. So seeking new, considering the results beforehand and trusting other sources is quite fitting, but I feel like flipping the latter two. I like that Fifth Ideal.
  20. You can message Chaos to change your name back to what it was before Ookla season @Ixthos, if it comes down to personal or societal interpretation, which is what I was arguing for to begin with, that still leaves Jasnah's argument perfectly valid.
  21. I have to admit I find that hilarious and would love for this to happen to someone
  22. @Ixthos, okay but I don't think that matters all that much. Religion is weird, some religions believe that other gods exist and that they should try to subsume these other gods so only theirs remain. Others believe gods are <insert swearword here> who just needs to be placated. The nature of the being or how you venerate them or appease them does not matter here. Or even that you acknowledge their existence, it's about acknowledgement of their role. If an creator being existed, he could be seen as God or a demiurge. If multiple gods existed, they could be seen as gods, or demons or spirits or other categories that are not present in English. If everything was part of the body of a god, that being could be called God or a massive superorganism. In these cases these forces of nature called Shards can be called gods or just, you know, natural forces. It doesn't matter what the object of worship is, religion is internal. And Jasnah doesn't have religious beliefs.
  23. I did consider it:
  24. I was thinking Hemalurgy, like if you puncture someone with this, they would just turn into an Investiture fountain, at least till their soul was also ejected. It's certainly "giving" enough for Endowment from what we've seen of BioChroma and the Returned, and Nightblood. For Allomancy, I think it would be fitting if burning it just gave you raw Investiture. For Feruchemy, I'm thinking it would make the metalmind like an individual's Breath, transferable, kind of like the medallions. Though I don't know if the latter two will work without some hacking. We don't know if a Mistborn would be able to burn other Godmetals that are not of Preservation or a Feruchemist be able to store any attribute within a metalmind made of the metal of another god. We know that other Godmetals exist and that they are useful, that they can be alloyed with Lerasium to acquire their magic system. But as far as I know, we don't have actual confirmation for them being directly usable in the Metallic Arts (barring Hemalurgy). We're just assuming because of Atium and Hemalurgic use of the Godmetal "Trellium", which do not a rock solid case make. Atium was something Preservation was directly fiddling with and Hemalurgy is... well, Hemalurgy and it's of Ruin not Preservation. How that works with Harmony, we don't know.
