  1. Honestly I think this point is overlooked too often Roshar doesn't have fossil fuels, that means a lot of the things we think of as being advancements, cars and trains and what not, simply are not possible for them to make without aluminum. To make aluminum cheeply you need electricity, to make electricity cheeply you need fossil fuels. I think that highstorms are the biggest factor here. Singers and Radiants can fight inside Highstorms, WW2 armies cannot. Planes can't fly, tanks can't drive, human armies can't march, ships can't sail etc. Not to mention how the incredibly rocky and uneven terrain, that is so difficult to move over that humans are faster than horses in most cases, I don't think tanks could even be effectively deployed. Well that makes things easy. The Oathgate in Urithiru is locked, so they can't get there, the Misted Mountains prevent them from moving any heavy equipment out of Shinover in any way aside from boats, which will still be decimated by Highstoms, not to mention can easily be taken out by a single radiant. Soulcasting in the CR is easier than in the PR, one Elsecaller can turn the vast majority of them into smoke, or even just barricade them in. Not to mention that they have no way to navigate the bead oceans.
  2. Make a coppermind account Click Edit Make the change, and link the WoB. It's just like Wikipedia if you've ever made edits there.
  3. R Selection isn't a mindset, it's a biological process. Singers just cannot produce enough children to classify as a R selected species. Therefore they are not the best at having children that they possibly could be. In fact mateform is worse than humans, as can be seen by how slowly singer populations grow.
  4. If that were true Singers would use R selection, not K selection.
  5. "How on earth are you supposed to keep track of all of these?" Isek asked, "If one went missing you would never notice."
  6. @That1Cellist You bring up some good points, many of which I myself agree with, and I'm more asking to see what you think, and get a greater underrstanding of your ideology here. My question is what do you do when someone does hold an evil ideology?
  7. Honorblades can't heal shardblade wounds.
  8. Why is LewsTherinTeliscope not in the poll?
  9. It's from the Liar of Partinel sample chapters. There might be a WoB as well, I'll take a look.
  10. Hoid was his master's name.
  11. No, he doesn't break the fourth wall
  12. Not harmonium, they're talking about an actual alloy. The answer is it would probably do something with bindpoints or fortune or whatnot.
  13. So you're going to be more active for a time? @Nathrangking: Delivers some of the highest praise on the shard, if you've impressed him you're doing something right, he knows what he's talking about, and what to say. Also he writes poems.
  14. Trickroom is really bad in singles, it takes too much effort to set up.
  15. @DramaQueen: Genuinely fun person, if you need assistnace with some hijinks, or shenanigans, she's the one to talk to. @dannnnnex: Will go three months without posting, and then announce his return by adding another n to his name. And we all love him for it. @alder24: A very composed and inteligent individual, who is always willing to lend a hand.
  16. That is also a possibility. Brandon just give us some answers on aluminum already, I need to know these things! Under normal circumstances I would agree with you they could not. However in the OP they were given infinite stormlight.
  17. It doesn't have to be strong. If your car got hit by a rock the paint isn't going anywhere, despite being really weak, all it needs to do it be bound tight enough to the plate that it can use the plate's own strength. Where they are standing, which really isn't a lot to go on, better than nothing, but still a far, far cry from what Atium shows normally. It is known, it's also known to be incredibly difficult, with even Wax saying that holding an object between your hands like Marsh does is harder than non-allomancers can appreciate. That's not true, they have access to aluminum, and know how to Soulcast it, we've known that since WoR. Because I've been operating under the assumption of an average skill level. If we're going full theoretical... I mean, that's possible, but I'd find that very wierd, especially given that it blocks you from using steelsight or emotional allomancy through it, and you can't detect investiture useage through it.
  18. The aluminum, not the plate, I don't even know if it's possible to melt plate given TLM. Not sure how useful seeing the bottom of a boot it going to be, that tells you next to nothing. So far Marsh is the only person we know who's been able to do that, and he's had centuries to practice. That still will interfere with you steel as the lines come from your center mass, which the aluminum will block. And that would still probably interfere with your electrum.
  19. Thanks man, that means a lot. I can't tell you how many times I've done that. I'm intrested to see where this goes, I have a few names I'll try and put forward when I get some time. Thanks again for doing this!
