  1. I quoted something someone said five years ago on two separate occasions.
  2. Brandon has a writing class on YouTube, Hello Future Me also has an "On writing and world building" series on You Tube that I cannot recommend enough.
  3. This thread has been inactive for three years.
  4. Welcome to Frustration's Firepower Index, a collection of threads giving a comprehensive analysis of each cosmere world's combat capabilities. This thread will focus on the world of Lumar, as it appears in Tress of the Emerald Sae. Shards: None 0/3 Dawnshards: None 0/0 Defenses: Lumar has no known perpendicularity, making it only accessable from the CR, additionally it is covered in massive spore oceans that are increadibly deadly to most forms of life. Additionally a naval force must be assembled in order to control any significant area, which severely hinders the ability of any invading forces. 3/5.5 Offenses: Lumar has no known perpendicularity, however Zephyr spores can be used to effectuate space travel, however they are impractical for reaching other planets. -2.5/1 Natural Advantages: Lumar has no natural advantages 0/2.5 Armed forces: There are several kingdoms on Lumar, but the only one we see is the one in the Emerald sea, which has it's own fleet, and Zephyr cannons and guns, as well as a standing army, and other seas have developed other spore weapons, including the ability to fire spores and have them detonate near the enemy. 4/12.5 Economics and Technology: Lumar has well developed trade routes, mining equipment, spore guns, as well as interplanetary trade to a small degree. Additionally they have industrial mining equipment, and probably some near or post industrial technology as well. 5/7.5 Logistics: On World: Lumar has well developed shipping lanes, and with the Sorceress gone they have opened one of the most important shipping lanes on the entire planet. 2/10 Off World: Lumar lacks the ability to transport supplies to other worlds. -5/2.5 Inteligence: Midnight Aether allows users to spy on others. 1/10 Counterinteligence: Lumar has no special counterinteligence: 0/9 Allies: Lumar has no allies 0/1 Notable uses of investiture: Spore eaters are largely protected from all forms of attack, and Xisis can provide boons to the natives as they are the only ones who know about him. +2 Overall ranking: 9.5/65.5 Recommended stratigies: Lumar is a relatively weak planet, that would likely be more trouble than they are worth to subjugate. However, if the people of Lumar could get to their moons, and collect the more useful aethers that are there, they could turn into a valuable trading planet, while still remaining potent defensively. This places them in the unique position of being the strongest of the minor shardworlds, likely able to retain independece even against larger threats if they play their cards correctly.
  5. Oh boy, @dannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnex want to participate in this one? The answer is pokemon, there just is no alternative. Helping hand from every pokemon that can use it plus Choice specs Kyogre's waterspout OHKO's all of the lions, Wolfe actually ran a calculation on it. There's an event in heartgold and soul silver where Arceus just creates a Palkia, Dialga or Giratina for you. Primal Groudon could actually just kill all the lions simply by existing, as could any pokemon with Snow Warning as Lions cannot tolerate such heat/cold.
  6. They didn't need a Dawnshard for that, the humans on Ashyn had at least one Dawnshard, which they used to burn the surface of the planet.
  7. Can we talk about the fact that the T.Rex is the perfect terrestrial predator for a second?

This thing could smell better thanand  a turkey vulture, see better than a hawk, and had incredible hearing. It could swim, run at up to 12 mph, while maintaing that pace for an incredible length of time, and had strong enough musculature to flip your car on its side and bite through it. And not only that but it was incredibly inteligent, and depending on what study you use could be anywhere from as smart as a crocodile, all the way to a chimpanzee.

Oh yeah, and it also weighed more than fifteen thousand pounds.

Awesome... and terrifying. Like, imagine rounding a corner and you see a pack of T-rexes heading towards you.

Or i can just out run my friends that do track. to do that, I will obviously break their legs with my tennis racket.

  8. Cultivation has visited Ashyn in the past, personally I think they came from Yollen. And Odium was definately not behind their creation, as that would be far more of an investment than he wanted. Not to mention where he would have gotten the Dawnshards.
  9. So 20 levels in five classes? How on earth do you balance that? With Sorcerer, Warlock, Paladin, Fighter alone you can make four attacks a turn and on each of them you can apply 6d8 radiant damage, and that's not even considering your bonus action, or the Eldrich smite invocation. Add in Rogue, and you drop an extra 10d6 per hit. This actually makes Champion fighter somewhat useful as all those bonuses turn into insane damage on a crit. That turns into an average of hundreds of damage points per turn.
  10. I didn't get anyone saying no for an evil character, so here we go, also sorry for presumptive worldbuilding Fadran, You of course have line item veto power.
  11. I mean, they were talking about scribes first and Nohadon mentioned how they were killed, so they might not have been. Yeah and let's also not forget all the wierd stuff going on with Aesudan and time dialation in Kholinar palace, Yelig-nar can do some wierd stuff we haven't seen yet.
  12. I would, but if someone told me that their house was broken into and their kids were murdered, I'd imagine someone smashing through the window and opening fire. Also why would an Unmade go out of it's way to kill scribes? That feels wierd to me, it makes more sense that they were just collateral damage.
  13. I mean, that's possible, but Nohadon said that he "Broke in" which to me at least implies that it was a little more violent than just sneaking in, specifically to kill scribes.
  14. I mean Yelig-nar killed every man of letters in Kholinar in one attack, and given the importance and size of the city that was probably several thousand, with multiple surgebinders present.
  15. Why? That not only takes more light than lashing the rocks, it's more dangerous, and it wouldn't work as the Skybreaker's investiture would resist theirs. That still takes stormlight, so it's progress. Aluminum is immune to division. They had enough aluminum to cover the entirety of the interior of urithiru in it in the past. And Shallan a rural noble just had a necklace made out of it, it is very widespread, just not used all that often.
  16. Why on earth would they try to lash the skybreaker? They can't even do that. They would however use aluminum weapons, or lash rocks at them. Nothing in Windrunner oaths forces them to fight honorably.
  17. Melkor literally created heat, and was more powerful than the other Valar, who made the stars, the Sun, the moon, and so much more. This wouldn't be a fight, it would be slaughter.
  18. You're going to need that pressure to get anywhere close to Urithiru.
  19. I mean you don't need to completely sheer through it to knock it out of commission, all you really need is to puncture a hole into the main body and let decompression do the rest, so I don't think that changes anything.
  20. An excuse to pressure Fadran on lore and magic? Excelent. I won't be availible today, but I'm down for some point soon, definately magic related. Do we want to do an evil RP?
  21. Happy birthday good sir.
