Because Brandon put his hand on the scales to get the outcome he wanted. The Sibling outright says she isn't worthy then immediately changes it's mind because... Tones or something. That makes it worse, not better No she doesn't. The first thing she does with Warlight and anti-light is to immediately hand it to Raboniel. She outright said that Navani could work in the laundry instead. So obviously Raboniel wasn't interested in fabrials(which she wasn't). And wanted something else instead that she couldn't get without Navani(which she couldn't). No it's not. There are two much easier and more reliable methods. 1. Break the Garnets, which will end the suppression. 2. Get Chiri Chiri from Theylanah, who can drain the voidlight. Kaladin could break the Garnets, freeing the other Radiants. Not to mention you can't trap someone with a Shardblade in a stone room. Then he can get Chiri Chiri and drain any excess Voidlight if that's still an issue. That is objectively not true anti-light is ten thousand times more helpful to Odium than the coalition. In order to kill fused you need Voidlight and Raysium. Two things which only Odium has. To kill spren you need Raysium and Stormlight, which Odium has relatively easy access to. Not to mention that unlike spren Fused become more insane as they are killed. Or that Nightblood can permanently kill Fused but any Fused that tried to use it would die. Or the fact that there are more Fused than Spren.

Well the list of people he killed is That one noble in The Eleventh metal who was kidnapping and torturing people That one family that drowned a skaa girl because she spilled their tea A multi-time murderer and rapist A Mistborn who enjoyed Skaa fights An inquisitor who went out of his way to murder people(and no he was not controlled by Ruin yet) Unless I missed something -

I wouldn't call it murder. Killing yes, but not murder. The difference being that the noblemen 100% deserved what they got. Jezrien and the unconscious radiants Moash killed did not. And that makes him responsible for what Vin did nearly a year later? -

I'm not sure how responsible Kelsier is for Ruin being released. And I don't see how theft is better than multiple counts of first degree murder. -

Concerns over Dan joining Cosmere
Frustration replied to Firesong's topic in General Brandon Discussion
The thing is this is the exact complaint the WoT fandom had when Brandon took over. I think this worry is sprung from a fundamental misunderstanding of how the Cosmere is written. Brandon himself has an entire team of people dedicated to double checking everything he writes to the point that they have the layout of rooms worked out, and match character descriptions in order to maintain consistency. They even put a list of all events and what times they take place together for every book Basically there will be no easing of the revision process, Brandon himself is forced to keep to it. -
Then why can anyone burn lerasium but you need a specific Connection to Honor to burn Tanavastium?

Each ability has it's own part of the spiritwebs dedicated to that purpose. You CAN take the ability to burn all of the mental metals with one spike, but that is not the default. Each metal requires a set of Investiture dedicated to it. The more metals you can burn the more Innate Investiture you would need.

It's not an inferiority complex if it's true. When you bypass one of the few remaining checks on Bondsmith powers you aren't worthy. Now instead of arguing about whether what Navani did was stupid or not, I will rather posit what a smart person would have done in the same situation. When the Fused invaded every effort should have been made to stop them and make their occupation harder. Navani did this perfectly. When surrendering to the Fused Raboniel offers her a deal, one that she has no real benefit from accepting, and one with no obvious benefit to Raboniel. The smart thing to do would be to dismiss the deal outright. Anytime your opponent offers you a deal you should assume that they have their best interests at heart, not yours. If you can't find how they benefit that's a reason to be more cautious, not less. This is where any argument of Navani not being a complete idiot falls apart. She accepted the deal, not for any tactical reason, not because it's a good deal for her, but because she couldn't deal with not getting to play with fabrials.

Let's Conquer the World
Frustration replied to Channelknight Fadran's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
There would be internal factions, but when it comes down to it all of the smaller groups have attached themselves to one of two sides, and I really don't see any third faction of relevant size appearing for the next decade or so. They really do, but that's just the start, that same group controls all the farmland, all the fresh water, and all energy production. Yes. They actually opened one in Vietnam recently, so I declare the Vietnam war an American victory. -
Let's Conquer the World
Frustration replied to Channelknight Fadran's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
This is the only problem. The easy breaks in America would divide it into two parts and one side is dramatically stronger than the other, a civil war thus started would likely end within 72 hours with one side emerging basically unscathed. I may have spent a lot of time looking into a possible second civil war. -
Ranking beings on their investiture.

Alright, do you have any proof for that? -
Ranking beings on their investiture.
Frustration replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Your evidence for Heralds being more invested than Radiants was that their souls glowed more brightly. If you have to look closely to determine a difference between Heralds and Humans how can you say that Heralds are more invested than Radiants? -
Ranking beings on their investiture.
Frustration replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
They didn't walk on the bottom, they used beads to form platforms to walk on, and it took them hours. And despite the fact that we got a lot of detail about the spren and the souls in the area, not once was any particular soul singled out. Therefore Heralds souls cannot be unmistakably brighter than others. -

Shallan was in Shadesmar in Kholinar, while Jezrien was on the PR side. If Heralds souls glowed so brightly his would have been seen. -
As we see with Hemalurgy the ability to burn each metal requires a piece of Investiture. If each person had the ability to burn all of the shard metals they would need a substantial amount of Investiture dedicated to that purpose.

Then why are they all around Lift? I don't think the color of the spren has anything to do with it. Especially when Truthwatchers and Edgedancers are known to break the pattern of the chart.
-
Alright, I don't like that explanation, but I guess it works. There's another point however, with all the metals the average person could burn they would all require a huge amount of Investiture.

Yeah Navani in RoW is probably the stupidest any character in SA has ever been, and I include Shallan in that assessment. She admits that she still believes Vorinism, and yet when a literal demon from that religion offers her a deal she takes it. I'm sorry but there are fewer red flags in a communist military parade.

Windspread are the only ones that look alike. Lifespren are floating orbs of green light, not a collection of vines. Creationspren don't have any particular shape. Gloryspren look nothing like any of the Bondsmith spren. Inkspren look nothing like logicspren. So on and so forth.
-
Because then you could steal the ability to burn it, which not only would that not make sense but it begs the question of what happens when you have twice the normal ability to burn Lerasium. But anyone can burn Lerasium, not just people Connected to Preservation as seen by Hoid.

Not really. Unlike other metals there is no part of their soul that says 'you can burn this'. Rather the metal itself says 'you can burn me'

I think you have causation mixed up there. People don't have an ingrained ability to burn shardmetals, the nature of Shardmetals allows them to be burned by anyone.

So I found a way to improve this. At third level in Warlock we take Pact of the Chain, grab a Sprite familiar to act as Syl. She can turn invisible and use the Help action to give us advantage on attacks. Then at 4th level we use Eldritch versatility from Tasha's to switch to pact of the blade. Since only the Find Familiar spell was part of the pact boon we can keep our familiar as long as she doesn't die. I also made Vin. V-Human and grab the Crusher feat. This is weird but trust me. For our class we're going with 10 levels of Genie Warlock, we are flavoring Eldritch blast as coins, and the Genie vessel as a vial of metals. And we want our patron to be a dao. This gives us Bottled respite to use for Bendalloy, and limited flight at level 10. For our invocations we are grabbing agonizing blast, repelling blast, grasp of Hadar, armor of shadows and another one of your choice, though I recommend Eldritch sight, as it is similar to bronze. Our pact boon isn't really relevant for this build, use it as you see fit, maybe grab pact of the tome and Aspect of the moon, but that's up to you. At level four grab Metamagic adept and grab quickened spell. Now in combat we have resistance to bludgeoning damage, and once per turn we can add a little bit of bludgeoning damage on our Eldritch blast. When we do use the crusher feat to send the target straight up. Once we've done that we can use repelling blast to send them up diagonally, where they take additional fall damage of 1d6 for every 10 feet, or for each blast that hits them, and they land prone. So obviously the rest of the build focuses on maximizing that damage. With quickened spell we can cast Eldritch blast as a bonus action, and as an action, as it's a cantrip. Next two levels in fighter as we can grab action surge, so we can cast Eldritch blast a third time in one turn. Our next three levels will be in Shadow magic sorcerer. This is another Sorlock build, I promise I tried hard not to, but getting the sorcery points to use Quickened spell so often was almost impossible otherwise, and it gave darkvision to use like Tin. We then finish up with 5 Levels in swashbuckler Rouge to get all the other Mistborn like features. So what do you think?
