Elsecaller. Not sure how I feel about that. Clearly I’ve liked Truthwatchers more, but Elsecaller has always been a close second. I can’t wait to see the oaths for them.

My thought was benevolent rule. Not necessarily how nobles behave, but rather the perfect and ideal for how they should behave. Edit: to clarify a good leader is devoted to those he leads

Worryform. Cripples you with chronic anxiety.

Woah woah woah, slow down. Please elaborate I’ve never heard this one?

Because poison is so much easier to heal than a disease he likely just didn’t tap enough to totally heal, so yes. But between or Wayne POV and Miles POV I think it’s safe to say that when a bloodmaker taps health they get a sort of “high” that would account for the relieved symptoms.

I’m sure this has been asked and answered before, but I couldn’t find on the coppermind so I thought I check with you guys. Nicrosal is one of the least understood Feruchemical metals with its investiture storing properties, and I have several questions about it. Does it do any good without some other sort of power though? You can’t even make an unsealed nicrosal metalmind without also having identity. What all can you store? The coppermind states you can store the ability to surgebind and a divine breath, but what about other breaths or just pure stormlight to fuel that surgebinding? If it can store stormlight would it leak? How would it work with allomancy. The biggest advantage of Feruchemy over Allomancy is that you can tap everything at once while Allomancers have an upper limit. What if an Allomancer burned massive amounts of steal but instead of pushing he just dumped all of the power into a Nicrosal metalmind. Could he than produce impossibly powerful pushes? Could this be how the TLR soothes so powerfully or has that been confirmed to just be nicrosal compounding? Did he even have nicrosal?

Wow. That makes a lot of sense. I LIKE IT!

I’m not convinced that shardplate is a god metal or any metal at all because it doesn’t act like one. Two of the main properties of metals are conductivity and malleability where shardplate is nonconductive (it can block lightning) and brittle (when it breaks it shatters, doesn’t bend). Furthermore it’s definitely not Honor’s godmetal cause that’s what Shardblades are made out of. I’ll give you that on the coppermind it says when it shatters it explodes into “bits of molten metal” but if iirc in the book the modifier like is used. Even if it is a metal, and a god metal, it wouldn’t weaken Honor because Tanavastium is what shardblades are made of. And I honestly have no clue what this is?

Thought on bonding multiple spren
Elsecaller_17.5 replied to Elsecaller_17.5's topic in Stormlight Archive
@Halyo_Alex Which chart? I didn’t see it. -
While this is really just a hunch with two weak pieces of evidence, so feel free to rip it to shreds. It would be easier to bond with two spren if one was more of Honor and one was more of Cultivation. They would disagree on many things but the most important issues to a spren of Honor would be the least important to a spren of Cultivation and vice versa which would make compromising easier. Evidence 1: Highspren and Honorspren are both very much of Honor but seem to dislike each other. In WoR Syl is very insulted when Kaladin applies a Highspren ideal (following the letter of the law) to her insisting on the importance of the spirit of the law. Evidence 2: This one is really weak, but many people have noted the synergy between the Windrunner oaths and Edgedancer oaths. Orders that bond with Honorspren and Cultivationspren. Maybe this could foreshadow a greater connection. So what do y’all think?

cutlivation cultivation has vines for eyes {*OB spoilers}
Elsecaller_17.5 replied to ThoughtWeaver's topic in Stormlight Archive
I’m not really seeing it with this one. Yes I believe they have some significance as a tie in to cultivation, but she already has something much simpler and easier to act as her “eyes.” Spren, particularly life spren who are amount the most common and align closely with Cultivation. -
It was a really great question though, you may have noticed I had it too
-
Wait wait wait So now you agree with me? But I’m still wrong? I give up and cite this lovely YouTube video as to why I’m giving up.
-
@Ripheus23 you said and have provided no evidence for the “just yet.” There is nothing indicating he will ever change his mind.
-
It’s a really cool thought, really! But unfortunately the premise is wrong. Truthwatcher_17.5 We know that Hoid took a bead of lerasium, but it never specifically says that he consumed it. Brandon Sanderson Yes, he did. Questioner Alright, so he is a Mistborn? Brandon Sanderson Yes, I'll go ahead and canonize that. Idaho Falls signing (Dec. 29, 2018)
-
He said “I’m never gonna answer those” that’s pretty definitive evidence. You are yet to provide any evidence.
-
I think with the base 16 Shards it’s a get what you get situation. When you combine them, as with Harmony, the vessel’s intent comes into play.
-
But the traveler is non-canon, and there is no canon evidence that supports it, so I suspect it will stay that way. Even if it is canon you said it yourself Hoid thinks. Hoid is knowledgeable but he is not all-knowing. Furthermore I would predict that if he is trying to bring someone back he will fail because of the inscrutable nature of the Beyond. To sum it all up there is zero evidence that Brandon will ever elaborate on the Beyond and a ton (the aforementioned WoB, and Preservation’s and Harmony’s on words) that he will never elaborate.
-
@Ripheus23 the WoB is him explaining one of the underlying philosophical parts of him being a writer. He not going to change his mind.
-
I totally thinks that the Beyond is just going to stay that way. I see the concept of the Beyond as Brandon saying well yeah I play “god” but I don’t play “God.” I honestly have no idea what you mean by the black sphere. The only thing I can think of is Gavilar’s sphere but I’m fairly positive that been confirmed to be void light and has nothing to do with the Beyond.
-
An extension on this idea. The old Terris religion worshipped Preservation and presumably saw Ruin as a Satan-esque ultimate evil figure. Then Sazed comes along and combines the two. What if there all furious because the two forces that should be battling each other are working together and they want to bring back the “natural order” of a dual shard system?

How did humans use Surgebinding to destroy Ashyn?
Elsecaller_17.5 replied to SpiritualYogiNerd's topic in Stormlight Archive
I definitely agree with that, pretty sure somewhere in the OB epigraphs it talks about the surges being to powerful to use safely, I’ll have to look. -

Wait, my understanding was they abandoned their oaths because the found out that the listeners were native to Roshar and they were invaders (a subtle, but important, difference).
