  1. Enough has been said about Kelsier. Vin is interesting. She is a creature of instinct and for most of the first book she is just tagging along. I dont see big moral choices come into play for her until WoA. The first has already been noted the slaughter of Cett's forces. Yes this is undeniably morally wrong she should not have done that. But it is important to look at the motivation ahead saw herself as protecting Elend who see loved. This makes the next big moral decision at the Well way bigger. She sacrifices that person she loved so much to (try and fail to) save the world. Elend has the least gray area to me. He was an idealist who and in WoA saw all of his ideals crumble and fail in the face of the massive adversity. So he instituted a military dictatorship. Now on the surface that seems horrible but given the circumstance I think it was totally justified. Had he lived and become the Lord Mistborn I think he may have instituted an even more democratic system than he had in Luthadal or the one Spook made. That's what he wanted deep down, he would have the political power to do it (he had just saved the world), and it was the scheming merchants and nobles who got him evicted as king.
  2. You lost me. Is this just a statement of how you see things your are you rooting for a none monarchy setting?
  3. Probably not the answer your looking for, but I'm betting he's just insane. Honestly the only way to figure something out might be to just ask Brandon yourself if anything is up.
  4. I don't know the Shardblade seems pretty open and shut he's dead. What do you have to argue against it. And I'm not saying it's the best chapter or even my favorite chapter (it's not) just that Brandon was really tugging on the heartstrings.
  5. Double zinc or an elsecaller.
  6. I can't imagine it being anything but a fabrial revolution. They will probably crack surgebinding fabrials.
  7. All we know is that it was changed. Sazed wasn't fond of the process. We don't know how but I suspect the threshold just got lowered.
  8. I just have to say how happy it makes me that my question is provoking discussion.
  9. Again that salute. I hate the salute so much. In the later "Vrye" chapters he references it as the only time he felt alive. I'm not near my book so I can't quote.
  10. I feel that I have to say I am strongly, strongly, in the storm moash camp and explain why. For me the most potent comparison is with Dalinar. Yes, Danilar has done objectively worse things than any other character on Roshar. I'd rank him 3rd on the cosmere wide bad things done (behind odium and tlr). But he changed. He asked the nightmother for forgiveness. He saved the world. And he is trying to be a better person. Moash on the other hand revels in the glory of his wrongdoing when given chance after chance to redeem himself he turns it down. The last nail in his coffin as far as I'm concerned was that storming salute. I do not see Moash as irredeemable. No one is. Ever. But his actions lead me to believe he won't redeem himself. Particularly in not allowing Elothkar to redeem himself. To comment on the general moash hate I'm really not surprised. The one you can save is the most emotional chapter in the entire series and may well remain that way. Frankly, Brandon set us up to hate moash. Edit: also while I despise Moash as a person with every fiber of my being I readily admit he is a great character.
  11. As far as I know Donato hasn't done any cosmere work so I'm leaning towards artistic license. They're definitely not glyphs because they're asymmetrical. On the other hand his honorblade does match the description given in the WoK epilogue and the glyph in the next step down is quite reminiscent of the stoneware glyph so there may be something. I really just don't know on this one.
  12. Do you have a link?
  13. It should be noted that any of the 10 surges can be replicated with fabrials, not just soulcasting and regrowth.
  14. Off the top of head they could enter the ardentia or become a stormwarden. It wouldn't cause any problems in business that I can think of. But your average Joe that's expected to farm or be a soldier is going to be in a rough place. Still know more than any one armed medieval peasant would be though.
  15. It would, and even though pewter is relatively cheap you probably wrack up a really high bill buying all would need.
  16. I really like this. It wouldn't lead to a compounding like effect but could lead to drastically increased stores of health. We know from Wayne (and kinda Steel Inquisitors) that the normal way to store health is either to store none or store a lot, to the point of your confined to your bed. This would probably allow you to store a little all the time, much as Wax walks around at 90% weight.
  17. That's a really good point, I hadn't considered.
  18. I love Rock as much as the next guy but I'm super pumped for Rysn. We don't know half as much about her and getting lore on Aimia would be awesome. I could see it being a lot like Edgedancer. Only a novella by the broadest of terms, not neccesarily essential for the story, but still adds some depth and background lore.
  19. But thata not how the sDNA works with allomancy. Even if both your parents were pewterarms you'd be just as likely to be born a rioter as a pewterarm. The lineage increases the base chance of having allomancy but not the specific type. That being said I do not think seers still exist.
  20. Yah, having a shed in the backyard where your dad does surgery. It wasn't on the kitchen table and I'm sure tien could manage to be elsewhere while he was operating. Regardless either scenario does not set the standard of "broken" very high. Which was exactly my point.
  21. I think the question of is Adolin broken enough is a little silly. Guys, Tien was broken enough.
  22. Let's throw MeLaan in. Not only can see make herself supernaturally beautiful she has in the past. And it's hilariously easy for her.
