  1. Welcome and sure. Recessive genes are a thing with S DNA. That is how TLR was unable to quite get rid of it. Even when he bread it out of the population it still cropped up a while latter.
  2. That is what I was talking about. That makes no sense(unless you alter the mass they are proportional).
  3. Just make a structure and soulcast it. A thin metal coating. Interesting idea.
  4. From what I can tell Shallan has grown used to this kind of behavior and has adjusted her own so that it is no longer self destructive. Her personalities are still there and they still do have control sometimes but she is watching them and evaluating them to stop them from going overboard kind of like someone who avoids alcoholism by being accountable to their friends and carefully counting their number of drinks.
  5. Well met.
  6. Assuming that one Lift met makes it you should have at least one. Maye we will get some answers on what their normal powers are.
  7. I think that part is conjecture. They think Ulim lead the five to Szeth.
  8. Veil and Radiant are both part of Shallan. Veil is her desire to know things she should not and do thinks she thinks are wrong. Radiant is the parts of herself that are more like the person she thinks everyone wants her to be. Neither of them actually have any knowledge or characteristics Shallan lacks they are parts of her out of context.
  9. I suppose a windrunner could evac him if absolutely necessary but I agree it is irresponsible. Perhaps his arc will involve more delegation? Possibly. Or all of the Rosharan magic systems could change.
  10. Yeah it just slid together. Profession wise yes. Temperament wise not really. Edgedancer actually comes out really low when I input his personality into the radiant quiz. He is a surgeon but honestly which describes Lirin better. vs It is not a clear cut case. Could you explain why?
  11. I was thinking instead a wheel turned by hydropower. It passes behind an aluminum bar to stop it from going up and down or left to right and instead goes forward.
  12. Well met!
  13. Let me break my thoughts down. What I am hoping is that Lirin will take some time to think about what Kaladin has chosen to do along with the results of that. By doing so he will attract a peekspren(or whatever they are called). He will then advance along the oaths. When Kaladin is at his lowest point Lirin will come back with the things he has learned and reinvigorate Kaladin thus prompting him to get back in the saddle and swear ideal four.
  14. I plead the fifth.
  15. This would be motivation along the line of actually talking to each other and listening. Or rather starting to pay attention to what each other have already said.
  16. It is probably deeply ingrained in any municipality's social structure. I would not be surprised if that is how the underclass are expected to supplement their income.
  17. This is at least ten times better then your average ship fic.
  18. I agree that a few none radiant perspectives are critical but I do think giving Lirin an arc that actually pushes Kaladin onward would be a really good way to fix his left over problems with Kaladin and naturally progress both of them as characters.
  19. Spark is cool with what allows her to break things but we don't really know anything about Malata. I am sure smart!Mr T left clever instructions about insuring "his" radiant's loyalty. I think ash spren are attracted to very disciplined people. Yeah in the short run those types do less damage but when you want to burn down a city it is generally a committed and disciplined individual that gets the job done. I also think it telling that despite instruction and knowledge from some very smart people Malata has not managed to pass the third oath. Kaladin and Teft both managed that more or less on their own. I don't think this is going anywhere anyway. It might be smart to just move on.
  20. Technically none of the information in that letter has been proven false. I went over it line by line. However several of the lines in it were deliberately misleading.
  21. Much more like Thomas Edison. The Napoleon of Science! The Wizard of Menlo Park. Who either was or was not one of the greatest scientists in human history depending on who you ask. Seriously this is from his wiki page.
  22. Newer idea. Maybe they don't want to just re conjoin the fabrails later? If they do that(the same thing you do when you turn off and turn back on a spanreed) unless the chull handlers manage to get those dumb animals to move in mathematically precise ways you will get slightly different alignments each time and that is going to interfere with steering. Perhaps aluminum stops the connection but keeps the same alignment? Another point is that you don't have to worry about friction with the ground. If you can get the airship moving at top chull speed it will continue going at that speed in that direction for a considerable time. You only need to give it an additional push now and then to maintain that speed against air friction. In fact now that I think about it there is no way that any chull maintains a speed of 5 knots for any length of time considering they are slower then horses. They must be using some kind of mechanical pulley system to increase speed.
  23. So firstly. I am so glad you have a partner that you can causally discuss this with. I hope you understand the gift that is. Secondly I think he will teach other people how to revive blades. These might not grant full radiant powers but major restitution for the recreance would be a huge deal. My pet theory is that he will gain the power to grant darkeyes lighteyed status by "knighting" them.
  24. They are not moving fast enough for lift to be plausible. 5 knots is slightly faster then walking.
