Even if they are retrieving the voidlight they are using they are still expending investiture when they fly. They would basically get less leakage that way or a higher degree of efficiency but they would still be using power that has to be replenished somehow. You are perhaps correct that they have a special cheat like this that does not work when they lash something else and since they have a lower stormlight allowance they have to make it count. I do think there is a fundamental difference between voidbindings and surgebindings however. I do.
-
You could probably get Ash to spill immediately just by threatening to have Shallan draw a few pictures.
-
It was probably an important development on the Shallan front.
-
I think voidbindings are structured a certain way IE do more with less. Surgebindings developed naturally and was probably less structured so when you get enough power together you can do some kind of crazy things. For the shenayim(hope we get a spelling soon) their surge of gravitation was probably structured to allow them to fly so they can do that basically forever on very limited voidlight. Lashing other things is much harder for them because that is not what that void surge was designed to do.

That would make a bit more sense.

I think he is at a secure location. Possibly the holly enclave in Jah Kaved if I am right about him being an ardent. It makes sense. Remote location, good security, lots of information, probably easy access to the world's communication system.
-
Probably because downtime tends to be kind of boring. We have training montages for a reason. We don't want to sit through Kaladin's workout routine every day for a year(although maybe some of us do, no judgement).
-
I think they all need Voidlight. I think it is more that their surges or designed a certain way. Some applications have a much higher cost then normal. Jasnah could find something the way she did with the blade. You only need a tiny bit.

Technically we don't but Amaram took Dalinar's visions in stride and always had fitting answers. I agree that that Shallan is being played. As far as we can tell yeah(although not just for money).
-
If that is the case then he should have recognized Dalinar's visions when they showed up. Adolin talked to him about them as far back as WoKs and he thought it was just PTSD. He also reacted too strongly to the almighty being dead for me at least to believe that. A fair point but is Dalinar that bad a judge of character? He tries to see the best in people sure and he got burned with Sadea but he still thought Sadeas was slime even back when they were working together.
-
NO! No that was someone else. Kaladin would have IDed her. I doubt she still has access. We don't know all their reasons. I would not put it past Graves to try several approaches to try and see which one works best on Kaladin.
-
That makes a bit more sense but while Kadash might be mad at Dalinar I don't think he would be approving of the goals of SoH nor do I think he would be comfortable working as a double agent. All of that is accurate and the group having access through the ardentia makes total sense but how could he justify betrayal or lying to a person who has tried to do right by him since this all started? Dalinar even offered to give him to another master and apologized to someone who was technically a slave. The SoH would have to convince him that this was somehow for the good of the people he was serving. How would they go about that?
-
So upcoming. I see Shallan trying to maintain her cover. I am hopping we get a lensmen situation where she has to work her way up the structure without arousing suspicion so she can ID the boss. Kaladin is going to continue to fight. Lirin is going to continue to be disproving. Dalinar is going to command and hopefully we will get to see Navani's fabrails.
-
I considered that but why would Kadesh be so upset about the almighty being dead? If he is the leader of the SoH then he must have know about the visions before from Gavilar.
-
I think he is still in charge but his role has always been a more behind the scenes type deal. He probably sees himself as a "shadowy architect." He leaves the actually leading to someone like Amaram while giving him instructions and advice on what the group is supposed to be doing while handling recruitment screening and information. I am sure they have bought a few people. My pet theory is that they have a chapter among the ardents. I do not think such a person exists. We don't know of any such nation. They are all spoken for except Shinovar and I think a defection from the void is too big a deal. I suppose it could be one of the Natans. They have a history of making trouble but still I don't think it likely. None of those people would do anything to endanger Shallan(except maybe Jasnah if absolutely necessary but why would she even bother?).
-
You missed the third one. I think they are probably going to take Shallan or at the very least this whole meeting is some kind of elaborate front. Basically these are not "real" SoH just a buffer group they use for recruitment and low level operations. I am not sure all of them actually know who they are looking for and Shallan probably tipped her hand by stating she though Ialai was involved. Finding a group of religious idiots is pretty easy and convincing them you have high level information is equally simple.
-
Not enough Data. I would also like to point out that we don't even know that Ialai is actually working with the SoH. Shallan's information could be wrong. She caught these guys way to easy and they are acting way too stupidly.
-
That is also possible but I would think that that much aluminum would interfere with the fabrail's function.
-
The spears are not just made of aluminum they are also fabrails that drain stormlight. Perhaps Aluminum somehow conducts investiture? The way metals conduct electricity? I am thinking normal when investiture hits aluminum it is moved into the spiritual realm by this process and they have found a way to use this property to pull power into gemstones?
-
My mind went to a Jasnah has gained control somehow for a SoH mole but that makes no sense as she should know Shallan's mission. Perhaps it is the suspected Herald Liss? She has access to Jasnah...
-
I thought she might be referencing Red but I suppose your could also be right.
-
Just scramble the words of all of his books and produce a new set of the grammatically compiled results.
-
Agreed. Knowing Kaladin he will be wondering why he has failed to swear oath four.
-
It shows Kaladin's mental state. He is treating an unimportant enemy like a boss battle. He is trying too hard.
-
That would make a lot of sense. Shallan describes him as tall. He is probably using a conventional disguise if anything and this does not preclude him from being a squire. There is also another individual there although I am have trouble pinpointing them(Shallan says nice work you two).
