So Correct me if I am wrong but before a Skybreaker can swear the third ideal they have to squire another third ideal squire. So how did the original Skybreakers make this work? Their were no third ideal Skybreakers and Nale did not OK their order until much later.

How is this a failure?

It still seems basically resistant to all types of magic even atium, it was used for Nightblood's sheath that is about everything we know. Ambition is responsible in some way for the shades of Therondy (hope I spelled that right) she was also shattered by Odium and we know her name. Look her up most of what we know is from Arcanum Unbound.

Stormlight 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Why can't I type louder? When do you think we will get our first sample chapter?

First of all Odium did not create the humans of Ashyn. Most sapient races were created prior to the shattering and we know that the singers were created along with Roshar by Adonalsium. Also Odium would hate(pun intended) the expenditure of investiture necessary to create a race or anything else. His MO is to co-opt or corrupt existing individuals or investiture. I do not think that Honor was pleased that the humans violated their agreement but he was likely much less pleased with the singers turning to Odium who offered them power against their enemies in exchange for their service. The singer spren bonding process made them easier to control then humans and their were likely more of them at the time so Odium probably found both them and their hatred against humans appealing. Honor and Cultivation were both good individuals who had compassion for humans struggling against impossible odds so they likely listened when the humans asked for help.

Probably but Glys does not remember being a truthwatcher spren vary well so I doubt this. Even in her WoK state Syl remembers her previous knight that is kind of a big deal to a spren. "I have helped men kill before." Also we have another source that says "I worry about my fellow Truthwatchers." 8-21 - Second Emerald indicating that more then one truthwatcher experienced this.

Maybe you should post what you know and then any questions you might have and we can go from there?

I always imagined Herdaz as a rock covered Mongolia don't know why but I do.

I can't help but wonder if they ever actually had some kind of relationship in the past? Perhaps book 4 will give us a steamy flashback scene that answers this question. I would not put it past either of them even though Brandon does not write steamy scenes as a rule.

I love Lift. She is the most incredible individual that the radiant's have at their disposal and I can't wait to see her fight Odium by stealing his dinner.

Makes sense. Ambition's investiture concentrate in the cognitive realm could cause individuals on Threnody to be more ambitious in their thoughts giving less thought to consequences in an effort to do great deeds. In this case they tried saving mankind from death. Trying to give the entire population immortality could easily have had this effect as the investiture that all the shades have tells them to prevent death explaining why they hate people drawing blood and starting fires as well as why they are pushed away from living individuals(they are not needed to tend to the living). The Deepest Ones who were directing this experiment are shadows corrupted by Ambition's essence and hate when people try to thwart their experiment which is why they are attracted to the death of shades.

But they could easily have wanted or need more inquisitors over time as the empire's population grew. Also what if something happened to a large number of inquisitors? You would want a backup supply of spikes just in case the future of your species is at stake.

I think the only reason that awakening the bodies is easier is because they are human shaped and are recognized as having been human. A sword made from one of these would not fit either category.

They do not singly oppose anyone my point is that they are close enough in combat viability that saying one of them will win every time is silly. Combat between any two professionals is going to be more complicated then this is better then that so this is the result. This is why this discussion has been going on so long. Don't we see Brandon describe the way Kaladin moves and fights with lashings as instinctual? I can remember examples from WoR when fighting Szeth and during the BoTF where he moves or lashes himself at thought. This is a natural function of the length and complexity of the our arguments. Because this thread is so long and we have so many things in the air we may end up repeating ourselves or even undermining our own arguments. I was speaking of two separate instances one where a spell was perfect and we eaily won the combat the other where I forgot something crucial and it we suffered a rout. While individual fused are attacking one at a time and the cognitive realm is closer then normal. Even so if several different fused were to attack at once from different angels or one was to get in a surprise attack by using cover Jasnah could easily have ended up in trouble the way Kaladin did. We know that Jasnah can soulcast at range but I have reason to suspect that that range is limited to less then eyesight so Kaladin could probably just stay out of range for long enough to come up with some kind of strategy working at multiple solutions if necessary by trying one of our options and if it fails going back to try another one. Jasnah has to spend this time prepping to deal with his most likely moves.

Shardblades already cut through everything. Why chainsaw? If you can get a WoB do not ask this question.

The Ten Orders: How They do Everyday Things
Karger replied to little wheel's topic in Stormlight Archive
How the 10 orders drink Elsecaller: Drinking dulls the wits but science calls for me to experience drunkenness at least once. Willshaper: Tries a new wine every time they see one this gets expensive. Skybreaker: Never drinks ever and minimizes Dustbringer's damage. Stoneward: Drinks exactly one beer and then leaves the bar after listening to everyone else drink. Lightweaver: Attempts to draw what they see while drunk but can't quite get it right so they throw an art tantrum. Dustbringer: Is an very mean drunk starts fight that Skybreaker stops. Windrunner: Does not drink and makes sure to get everyone's keys. Must protect them. Edgedancer: Makes sure to share their drink with others. Truthwatcher: No one is sure if they are drunk or not you have seen their glass be refiled several times but their is not difference in their behavior. Bondsmith: Unites all the different verities of beer into one. Willshaper loves it. 3 Quote
