    What evidence? What if? The sibling has always struck me as a spren of order. Perhaps by destroying the singer's ability to bond spren Melishi violated his oath to maintain order as that singer ability is important to Rosharan ecology.

    Most economics is based on scarcity. Considering how impressive and varied Aons are I do not think that scarsity is realy an issue in Elantris. This leads me to believe that it functions more as a gift economy where Elantrains instead use their abilities to maintain important relationships via gift giving.

    This assumes that anyone notices it. A doll is just one idea but my point is that we are talking about Hoid. He can probably get this done on his own if he needs to.

    I just wanted to note that it requires a rigorous course of study to use Aons at there full effectiveness and that Elantrains are removed from many of the economic pressures that force people to work.

    They were also treated like gods and this is from the perspective of beings who used to depend on these guys for food and worshiped them. I think they would be willing to overlook quite a bit.

    Sure. But that requires that Elantrains (after being treated like royalty all their lives and never needing anything) are willing to go to the library and read. How much of your time would you spend in the library learning skills that will help you aid society if you were basically a millionaire?

    I personally like to think of ideal four being a restatement of goals. Anything is possible at the beginning of your journey but your actions and experiences do narrow what you will be capable of in the future. Kaladin want to protect people but he clearly can't protect everyone from everything all the time. He is going to need to figure out exactly how he wants to protect people.

    Elantris magic is only as useful as the user is intelligent. Any idiot can breath in stormlight and do some fairly impressive things with it(although more complicated stuff does require a degree of competence). To make real use of Aons you have to be smart and careful as well as be willing to spend hours debugging your spells.

    Not exactly true. He says some people could consider Heralds members of their order not that he personally does.

    A reasonable deduction although I would personally tweak it a bit. I think for example that they must also care a great deal about compromise, good (or at least reasonable) manners, and have an equally low tolerance for anything that could raise someone's blood pressure. Their society is also likely more egalitarian as any marginalized group would either die out or be excepted extremely quickly.

    Shades do not talk to those in the physical realm but in death you can see the cognitive and spiritual. Perhaps the shades just make the offer then and explain all of the cool benefits.

    We don't know what it is like to be a shade. It is entirely possible that being a shade is actually quite nice.
