  1. DJ NAVANI WILL END THE WAR!
  2. I don't think either condition would count as willing. Willing implies a lack of coercion or trickery.
  3. Thank you Brandon for finally clearing up this mystery. Now let me just read the short bit of Skyward Three from the Newsletter... DAM IT BRANDON!
  4. Well that and access to birth control/contraceptives.
  5. Even better would be the tone for anti-Voidlight. Great sonic attack for the fused.
  6. Rings imply Terris but it is equally possibly that this is just a cosmere aware Rosharan with a medallion. The other theory is that it is a sleepless particularly. DS One of these works with the GBs.
  7. I want to invest Moash then kill him then imprison him in a gemstone then leave that in a sibling style suppression field until the cosmere's last star burns out. That will be a decent start in paying for what he did.
  8. Not too difficult. Destructive interference can be explained to people pretty easily. Adhesion should be able to create vacuums. Alternatively you could just go to space. That was largely theoretical. I just kind of wonder. However slightly more practically what if you got a megaspren(stormfather size)? Would you have inverted surges? All of your points are true but under proper conditions their manufacture is still very possible.
  9. Anti-Investature. So its a thing. A thing that can be really easily created on a basically industrial scale. Sure some has been made but what does it do(other then blow up)? What happens if you make antistormlight and then a radiant tries to use it? What happens if you convert an entire shard(or at least enough power to ascend with)? Most interestingly, in my mind, what happens if the power gains sapience as a spren? Are anti-voidspren going to be a thing in the back five? What will they even be like?
  10. Preservation and Ruin strike me as much less opinionated then the power that courses through a YouTube comments section.
  11. It might work. I can't help but feel however that it is not that simple. Navani notably does not try to convert one type of investiture into another. We only ever see her combine and invert the types.
  12. The Relevant WoBs are.
  13. I think this is the best place to put this. I had perhaps the weirdest of all possible thoughts when reading RoW. Going into this book I asked myself what the greatest change to the cosmere would be. I wondered about all the things that could happen and I was shocked, dismayed, betrayed and rewarded just like everyone else. However when I ask myself to think on what the most important thing that happened in the entire book was? I find myself gravitating to an odd answer. It happened in chapter 15 page 212 of the book, a chapter we have known for weeks. Rlain showed the Alethi singer agricultural methods. Yes Navani figured out how to convert investiture leading to a major revolution in how the entire cosmere works with implications that could kill gods. Yes Jasnah will be remembered as one of the greatest monarchs in Alethi and probably rosharan history. Yes Rayse was killed, Taravangian ascended, Kaladin swore the fourth ideal, the Listeners are reestablished, and the tower restored. Yes this WILL be the final desolation. In the grant scheme of human history this may matter a lot less then there being slightly more food grown by slightly fewer people in a slightly smaller area. Journey before Pancakes(or after I am not picky). EDIT because I am in a bit of a rush at the moment and can't check how to tag this feel free to either support or refute my views. Thanks for reading.
  14. Gasps for air. OK I just finished. Dam that was a lot. What were you thinking Cultivation! HOW THE HELL DID YOU THINK THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA? Jasnah you are awesome as always. That duel was perfect. Jit is a no. I don't care it is just so wrong on so many levels. Teft stole the entire show. Navani was a boss. With the exception of Raboniel no one can hold candle to those two. Finally we got some conclusion for Shallan, Adolin and Maya. Leshwi was cool. Ishar was a real wow. Moash Moash!
  15. Fantastic work. Great magic system, excellent imagery, and great setup.
  16. What does and does not constitute a "magic system" is pretty arbitrary. We say there are three "metallic arts" but even with are limited understanding and argument could be made for forty eight or one and Khriss could probably make a decent case for seven or nine million if she really wanted to. There is in fact a saying in science that all models are wrong but some are useful. I personally find looking at fabrails as their own magic system separate from surgebinding to be helpful but if you find that not doing so is helpful then go right ahead. No natural or even rational law says you can't. Good luck coming up with something with your own paradigm.
  17. Yep. That is what happened. Brandon confirmed this on Reddit.
  18. Anyone have a chromium spike?
  19. But then why worry about it getting into the wrong hands? Just give it to the shards. No problem. BTW you should copy and paste your quote into the same post. Double posting is frowned upon.
  20. No problem just highlight the text and a quote option should pop up for that line alone. Welcome to the shard. It is actually known from Khriss's essay on the region IIRC. Odium and Ambition had a large scale battle there where Odium wounded Ambition pretty badly. I think we are dealing with commands and Commands. I personally don't see how neither of the scadrain shards picked up an available dawnshard and used it against the other. Seems like it would be a pretty large scale advantage.
  21. I mean it is possible. I think however that Odium would probably have grabbed any threnody dawnshard and the ones above are likely interested in a new magic that they can exploit. Mraize keeps his chicken on him at all times for a reason. It is not like the Aviar are not useful. I have not know about the scadrail speculation and I honestly have a hard time believing it. That planet was relatively new. I think Frost might have one. Maybe the 17th as well. Yollen possibly?
  22. I think they are for lack of a better way of explaining it "coded" investiture. Think of it like a set of instructions or rules built to maintain the cosmere.
  23. The question that launched a thousand threads. Make that a thousand and one! What are Dawnshards? What we Know The Dawnshards we created prior to the shattering. In fact they were used to cause the shattering. Each one is one of Adonalsium's Commands. Hoid used to have one and was altered by his prolonged contact with it. There are four. Each Dawnshard is unique in terms of intent. Rysn's causes things to Change. What we can deduce/suspect Each of the dawnshards created four shards. I personally imagine Adonalsium being pulled apart by the four dawnshards. My Theory I think Adonalsium created them as the "rules" for the system(universe) he was making. Sure it may have been neigh "all powerful" but you need to create limits to get anything worthwhile done. I like to use chess as an analogy. Sure you could break the game entirely in a million different ways but the outcome only has interest or meaning if you set a group of rules that govern how you play. To make his universe Adonalsium stated that every bit of investiture/matter it put into the system would follow certain behaviors. Investiture would Change(and speculating), Connect, Persist, and Understand. If you pull on(stretch) those rules your ability to interact with the game goes away. This is what happened to Adonalsium. Its body was divided but its mind simply moved on. I don't think you need to resurrect Adonalsium. If you put the Dawnshards back together in the right alignment you will essentially just pull him back.
  24. Anyone who knows about and is looking for the Dawnshards probably comes into that category.
