  1. While not a fan of using time travel, I do like it in certain stories since it does allow for interesting character interaction (T2, Fire Emblem Awakening, Avengers Endgame) or fun alternate universe shenanigans (Flashpoint paradox). Erratic behavior of characters or the erasure of entire arcs for no reason other than "new writer, new direction" or "we need to shake things up" really bugs me (see The Rise of Skywalker, Arrow Season 4, and Marvel's Ultimatum). Superheroes are an exception to this for the most part due to how slowly they age in comicbook years and how most of them are iconic/static heroes instead of characters with character arcs, but even then there are limits and fans WILL become upset (see: Spider-Man: One More Day and One Moment In Time; Tom King's current Batman run, and the infamous Havok/Polaris issues).
  2. Just finished! Okay, that was DOOOOOPE! Of all the projects Sanderson's been attached to, this definitely a contender for the darkest one (pun intended). There's optimism in the story, but given the perspective, it feels almost like anti-nihilism in a way. For a while I've said that Mistborn was Sanderson's response to the Wheel of Time, but after reading this, I think I might have spoken too soon (or maybe this is the Game of Thrones to The Wheel of Time's The Lord of the Rings...if that makes sense...). All of the talk of the Narrative was straight up Jordan, and how it's finished at the end is so fascinating. Paul was a cool character, although I do worry that his ascension to power, while terribly long for a graphic novel, would be too short for a television show (depending on the length of the first season). Nikka was a ride. I thought she was going to be but it turns out she was telling the truth about a lot of things. Paul and Nikki's father is hiding a lot of secrets as well (although I think they pretty much state the largest one). The princess (Feodora?) was an interesting character, but it's clear her journey is just beginning. The ending was awesome and I CANNOT WAIT for more books in this series. I have more to say, but it's too fresh right now. I'll come back after reading it a couple of times. P.S. - Bring Me the Horizon's new song "Parasite Eve" goes GREAT with this story (it also goes great with the latest chapters of My Hero Academia).
  3. It should be! The bonus material hasn't updated like a pre-downloaded game or whatever, so it should be via email.
  4. Haven't received my copy yet, but I'm eagerly awaiting the email.
  5. I don't really have too much to say, since I'm sure the Skybreakers will be explained later, but I think Wax from the Wax & Wayne Mistborn books is a decent view of what a Skybreaker should look like. Granted he's more of a mix between Windrunner and Skybreaker, but he easily leans more towards Skybreaker.
  6. @SharddinnerplateWelcome to the Shard!
  7. Man, those were some great days... Here's to hoping the next Fire Emblem game, be it remake or original, gives us the same feelings!
  8. Still playing TMS. I unlocked the ability to buy costumes in-game, so my previous complaint is now null and void! Kiria is happily rocking her Labyrinth costume.
  9. That feels eerily close to the Survival shard train of thought. Just a note, not a critique.
  10. Keep it as Hammond and throw in the stereotypical line that "my father wanted a son," and then play with the trope with her commenting on how, with her strength, he re-evaluated his concepts of what being a man means or something like that. Or "my parents thought they were having a boy, and then I popped out." Either works as a sly reference to Ham being a man's name in the books.
  11. I was literally JUST about to quote that too!
  12. A to-go chair please. You know how it is; I gotta be ready to have that chair break if assassins come for me.
  13. Sanderson has since commented on the DO stuff. If I'm interpreting Sanderson correctly (it was late last night and I was tired), Historic Prophecies looks like it's the graphic novel but in book form while Forgotten seems to be what the podcast idea turned into/is.

  15. For those that didn't know, Sanderson is currently writing a screenplay for the Mistborn trilogy. We don't know when it'll be finished or what will happen beyond that. I haven't seen a thread specifically devoted to this, so I wanted to kind of start one (but if there is a thread someone please redirect me towards it). There's a lot of information about it out there, but today Sanderson just updated us on how the main heist will change, and in one of the revisions Shan is both Elend's sister making a play to secure the position as heir, and is also the main mark of the heist. Other changes that have been talked about recently include Dockson & Ham being turned into women for the screenplay. (Roughly 37 minutes in). Sanderson would also ideally like to have the trilogy adapted as a film, a television show, and then back to film. Vin's training with metals and Kelsier has been combined into them sneaking into Keep Venture (one of Sanderson's lessons, but I can't remember which one at the moment). If anyone has any more tidbits or just wants to talk about the adaptation, please comment below!
  16. Started playing a bit more of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore. I forgot how fun the battles can be. The plot is meh, and the dungeon I'm in is confusing to the point of annoyance, but overall it's a decent experience. I do wish that the ad-lib costumes were available to characters outside of that one move - I like Kiria's "The Labyrinth" costume better than her standard Carnage form. I'd even take her Reincarnation music video costume! I'm excited to recruit the other characters (I've already met Mamori but she's not a playable character yet), but unless the group size changes increases to at least four, I'm not sure how much I'll use them in the end. I have a LOT of feelings on Barry Goodman, and very few of them good (they really should have hired a bilingual V.A. for him at the very least (or maybe an English V.A. and a Japanese one*). But I do get a good chuckle every time he yells out an explicit. Overall I'm curious to see where the game goes, but this is a pretty easy game to pick up and then drop off for a couple of months, so we'll see when that actually happens. *This is just a nitpick as a native English speaker, and it's not a complaint unique to this game - Shin Godzilla has the main female protagonist speak English, and it's...uh...not the best. Still understandable, but not the best. The Pyscho-Pass movie is even worse. It was so bad I didn't even know it was English the first time I watched it. And the same can and probably should be true for American-produced media and bilingual characters (the scene in Black Panther where T'Challa and crew sneak into the club in South Korea has apparently been pretty lambasted, and rightfully so).
  17. Hi I'd like one Wyndle taco, extra chicken & spice please?
  18. Do you have a source? I didn't know Brandon confirmed anything, and either I'm reading too fast on the Coppermind (very possible) or that's a non-recorded source (also very possible, especially with the Q&A's).
  19. Killer(s) on Winds or Knife of Winds. If there is a T, then it's Killer(s) on Winds Tethered or Knife of Winds Tethered. In-universe it's the Shin recording of everyone who has held Jezrien's blade, reaching from the moment the Heralds walked away, to the Shin Invasions, the most recent wielders.
  20. It's a fun show that, like many Sentai-inspired shows before it, has the characters grow and change despite of the repetitive nature. The show feels a bit...rubbery at times, but the fights are always well done and the voice acting is great. (RIDICULOUS! UTTERLY RIDICULOUS!) Marionette is a true hero at heart, and her and Adrian are just cinnamon rolls of characters. Overall I really like the show!
  21. I firmly believe we'll see this some day. Elsecaller with the surge of Division is a frightening thought. On a more mundane note, I think Hoid could probably hack identity/based magic pretty well if he had Ishar's Honorblade (and it's the easiest way to get those surges without becoming a dual Radiant, something Hoid will probably be particularly opposed to...unless...hmm...). Edit: a Windrunner with access to Transformation and Division. They could lash opponents to them, transform them into something that can combust easily, then lash them back at enemies before exploding them with division.
  22. But network television deals with this all the time, and they can do a relatively good job with having individual arcs that can lay on each other in interesting ways, and then use that to branch into different arcs. Arrow is a decent example. The villain in Season 2 honestly had nothing to do with the villain in Season 1. They didn't know each other, nor did they interact in any meaningful way. But they flowed together because Oliver was the tying piece to the puzzle, and it built off the theme of Oliver knowing his arch enemies personally or them knowing him personally. They had a theme of being connected to Oliver's past in a meaningful way. When the show stopped that theme, the show really suffered. During the first two seasons Oliver went from cold-stone killer to reluctant killer due to the events of Season 1. Laurel went from "CW's Obligatory Love Triangle Love Interest" (watch the first season of ANY CW show and tell me this isn't a thing. I dare you.) to woman coping with trauma in not so healthy ways, to woman coping with trauma in healthier ways. Thea went from spoiled rich girl and addict to well-meaning rich girl to responsible business woman (to eventual assassin and finally vigilante). I guess the point I'm trying to make is that Korra built off of ideas and themes decently but not off of the characters, and that was one of the main problems. Shows don't need explicitly connected seasons to do that (although it does help). I do agree with what you say about using the old cast sometimes, but I think other times it worked out just fine. Using Zuko in Book 3 worked (although Izumi or General Iroh would indeed have been a more interesting choice). Toph was...okay. That's also a very true point, and an unfortunate fate for Korra. The Dragon Prince suffers from that a tiny bit too, and it'll probably grow the longer the show goes on...assuming it goes on...

  24. Very, but they'll figure it out. Some will prefer one version while others the other. So long as we can all enjoy the series in both forms, I think it'll be fine (although the fan art of Fem!Dockson and Kelsier is inevitable, and I am NOT looking forward to it). Of course, there will be those who fly to the keyboard to claim that the writers messed up because they changed Ham & Dockson not recognizing that the author himself made that change; as well as those who would say Sanderson should have done that from the beginning not realizing that the reason he made the change is to correct that very oversight. I have a feeling that the Mistborn adaptation will be more different than we're assuming. A LOT of things will probably have to be cut and moved around. As you say, if it's done well, it won't be a problem; but I fear as a fandom we're expecting a more faithful adaptation than the one we're going to get.
  25. Tier 3 for me. It's what I saved for, and I can just add on the Wandersail and WoK Prime stuff. I would LOVE to spend $500 on Sanderson's works, especially a numbered copy, but I'll live without one.
