  1. I do the same - heck, I've done it with FE stuff multiple times, and Stormlight and A Song of Ice and Fire! Sometimes it's the characters that are too similar that hate each other the most. ...my money's on Edelgard. Azula might win the fight, but Edelgard will win the war.
  2. Thematically absolutely, but I feel like Edelgard and Azula would hate each other. Azula would see herself the better of the two, while Edelgard would defy Azula's claim simply because of "divine right" or heritage. (Despite that Edelgard would probably also see a smaller version of herself in Azula and try to save the girl, much to Azula's annoyance.) Edelgard and Dimitri would rather have Zuko in charge. At least, that's my take on their characters anyways.
  3. My thoughts: Of the three 2nd Gen Kholins (Jasnah, Adolin, & Renarin), I think at least one will die and at least one will become a worldhopper. My bet is unfortunately on Renarin dying, as much as I don't want that to happen. That leaves either Jasnah or Adolin as a worldhopper, and honestly I can see either. I can see Adolin becoming a worldhopper with Shallan as they climb the ranks of the Ghostbloods, but I can also see Jasnah discovering the academy at Silverlight and spending her time there post-Era/Arc 2 (where she's writing Book 10 of the Stormlight Archive, titled The Stormlight Archive.) But I can also see Jasnah dying and Renarin living (not as common, but I can see it.) Overall, I guess if Renarin dies and Jasnah lives, Adolin stays on Roshar/with the Rosharan people. If Renarin lives and Jasnah dies, then Adolin becomes a worldhopper. Heck, maybe that'll be the conclusion of his murder with Sadeas; Adolin is banished (like that means much these days, but still), and he uses that to join the Ghostbloods with Shallan full-time. I'm probably wrong about most of this, if not all of it, but that's kind of what I see right now.
  4. Half of Dawnshard will be the trip Aimia, and half will take place at the location. The focus IS Rysn and Lopen. Lift and Sazed would be great gamers (and now I want a t-shirt of them playing games together). Adolin would have a heron-marked blade in Randland; Dalinar would not. 10 years in-world for Stormlight Arc/Era 2. Sanderson Curiosities will be linked with Kickstarters.
  5. Last week I was...informed of a way to watch Season 2 of Beast Morphers, and I've been mostly skimming the major episodes in order to see all of the fun crossovers and references. I'd say this season solidifies my earlier feelings on the show. Beast Morphers is a great first step in the Hasbro Era and a truer legacy season than Megaforce ever was. The characters are fresh, there are genuine romantic relationships, and the theme of "legacy" hits stronger than ever - there are Ranger history courses, the Morphin' Grid is seen as a clean energy source to power the future, and characters, costumes, and weapons from previous series all return. The three-part crossover and the second to the last episode are highlights of the season, with the latter possibly becoming my favorite in the entire Beast Morphers run due to what it does to and for the series. This is a season older fans would regret missing out on and younger ones would probably enjoy. If someone was making a list of "necessary seasons" for Power Rangers, this would be the latest entry. All of that said, I wouldn't recommend it as a first Power Rangers season. I'd say go with something like RPM or Dino Charge first. If one wanted to watch with kids now, I'd say RPM, Dino Charge, maybe a few episodes of MMPR and/or Dino Thunder to show them the history of Power Rangers, and THEN Beast Morphers. Alternatively, RPM, Season One of Beast Morphers, Dino Charge and the other things, and then Season Two when Beast Morphers hits Netflix. Overall, I'm not sure I can categorize this season as great but the qualities in it are indeed great. ...heck I want to make that list right now! 1. Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (skip the Alien Rangers stuff) 2. Power Rangers Zeo 3. Power Rangers Turbo (at least the passing of the mantle and season finale) 4. Power Rangers In Space 5. Power Rangers Lost Galaxy 6. Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue 7. Power Rangers Time Force 8. Power Rangers Ninja Storm 9. Power Rangers Dino Thunder (another great legacy season) 0. Power Rangers SPD (this one isn't as necessary, but it has two great team-ups and one of the best Red Rangers and Blue Rangers in the series history) 1. Power Rangers Jungle Fury (I'm not as sold on this one, but it's underrated apparently, so it can stay) 2. Power Rangers RPM 3. Power Rangers Megaforce (so you can see how a legacy show shouldn't be done) 4. Power Rangers Dino Charge/Dino Super Charge 5. Power Rangers Beast Morphers The ones cut out: Wild Force, Mystic Force, Operation Overdrive, Samurai/Super Samurai, Super Megaforce, Ninja Steel/Ninja Super Steel. Wild Force doesn't make the cut not because it's bad. On the contrary, it has many likeable things about it, and if someone wanted to add it back in I wouldn't disagree. But it needed to go because it's not really referenced again and it doesn't bring much to the table. If you've seen Power Rangers and Tarzan, you've seen Wild Force. ...but I will say that Wild Force does have some of my favorite Ranger suits in the entire franchise. The White Tiger Ranger costume is PHENOMENAL, and "Forever Red" is a contender for the best Ranger crossover in the series. If nothing else, watch that episode. Mystic Force is cut because the focus on the Red Ranger hampers the entire show. Rangers are a team; besides, it gets old after a while (the show and the focus on the Red Ranger). The magic aspect is interesting, but we need more than a good hook to stay invested. Operation Overdrive is cut because it's somewhere between bad and forgettable. I know the Pink Ranger is one of the best in the franchise, and if one wants to meet her, go ahead. But Time Force and Dino Charge have better Pink Rangers, and the show isn't that good. The team-up sort of stinks too, which is really disappointing. Samurai/Super Samurai are in the same boat. They're not bad, they're just not good enough to make the cut. Super Megaforce. This might be the most disappointing season of Power Rangers to exist. The rangers had such cool costumes, and the premise of PIRATE RANGERS is such an awesome thing to work with. But the show bound itself in legacy and adorned itself in forgettable characters. It's become a disappointment, not a celebration. Ninja Steel/Ninja Super Steel. From what I've seen of these two, there just isn't enough substance there to recommend it. The team is okay, but apparently they always forget the Aesop learned. The premise is okay, but it's a weird mashup of things that don't really match. Maybe if they made it so that ninjas were not created as assassins, but protectors of alien and supernatural threats...but it's fine. This show is skippable, so save your time and skip it.
  6. I need it...I NEED it...I NEED IT!!!
  7. @kelbeaI forgot to add some stuff! The theme-song for Mistborn Era 1 is "Pray For Me," by Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd. The lyrics fit SO WELL. https://genius.com/The-weeknd-and-kendrick-lamar-pray-for-me-lyrics I also like "Survive" by Rise Against as the sort of "end credits song" if you will. Not much for the tone, but some of the lyrics carry the message pretty well. For the climax/Sanderlanche of Skyward, I love listening to Aimer's "Closer." It emphasizes that sort of YA punk tone while still keeping the tension high and the focus on the battle. https://genius.com/Aimer-closer-lyrics ...yeah, I recommend Aimer a lot, but a lot of her songs just seem to fit Sanderson stuff!
  8. I'm not a giant Zelda fan, but there are rumors/potential leaks saying that Skyward Sword is coming to Switch. Thoughts?
  9. "Three of ten once ruled, now the Unreleased One reigns." "Above the final void I hang, friends behind, friends before. The feast I must read clings to their hands, and the words I must speak spark in my mind. The old oaths will be spoken anew." (Two copies of Rhythm of War, please!) "The obsession becomes a palace. Let it rule! Let it rule!"
  10. I always recommend powering through Season One, enjoying Season Two (it's the second best Season Two of a superhero show I've ever seen (first place goes to Agents of Shield, and third to Daredevil)), and skimming Season Three.* After that, I'd say skip Season Four (outside of the crossover episodes of course), and head straight to Season Five. I'd put that one on-par with Season Two in terms of quality. After that I'm not as confident, so I'd say watch the first half of Season Six, and then skip to the final season. The problem for me is that each season was connected and yet it wasn't. I can't recommend skipping Book 2 of Korra because it's integral to the plot, but I can't recommend watching it that much either. (It's not bad, just not always enjoyable.) But I recognize that's a weird stance for me to take, especially since it feels hypocritical after recommending a show with even larger spikes and dips in quality lol! *I see what they were going for with Season Three and why it failed in both the present and the flashbacks, and if they had some time - and a time travel machine - I'm sure it'd be a very easy fix. And I personally like the iteration for Ra's Al Ghul for the most part.
  11. My Mistborn Era 1 soundtrack leaned towards future bass, so my suggestions lie there. I'll link some of the songs below. I really like: "Koto" by Clozee for when Vin and Kelsier are training for the first time. The song has a "learning your powers montage" feel to it, so I think it fits. "Lit (Skrux Remix)" by Lexy Panterra. This song has a very "Heroic Second Wind" feel while still keeping the YA vibes that Mistborn Era 1 undeniably has. The base drop is pretty solid too. I play this during Hero of Ages when xKito on YouTube used to have a whole mix of songs that I listened to when reading Mistborn Era 1. It's since been deleted, sadly. My go-to "epic battle" song is Final Fantasy XV's Ifrit battle theme "Hellfire." Any time there's some sort of giant battle coming on, I play that song. Wheel of Time, Star Wars revision, Mistborn...that song is playing. For Mistborn Era 2 I'm still sorting everything out. I'm going with a sort of "western" theme, but I'm not a giant fan of country music. The closet I get is Lil Nas X, so "Rodeo" is sort of my anthem for this era. I like Hans Zimmer's "My Mind Rebels in Stagnation" from the Sherlock Holmes OST, especially the second half. I think it fits the eerie tone that Era 2 can sometimes have, especially when it involves crime and The Set. I like to play Kevin Gates' "Two Phones" in Shadows of Self during but that's more of a weird personal association my mind has made. But I think David Arnold's theme for The Woman in BBC's Sherlock is a great way to end Shadows of Self. However, for that book overall I prefer Hans Zimmer's "Submarine." The song is so tense, as if any second you could explode, and I feel like that captures the tone of Shadows of Self incredibly well. For Stormlight...well...it's different. You see, when I imagine Stormlight, I think of it as an anime. That means Intros and Outros. I also try to give characters sort of theme songs. These aren't always related to the Intros or Outros, but in some cases they are. I'll be listing my own playlist for the most part here, and which characters or books are associated. Wit's epilogues are linked to a song by The Weeknd. I don't know why. They just fit. Right now I'm putting down Bring Me the Horizon's "Can You Feel My Heart" as the theme song, but this may switch to be Rhythm of War's song eventually. I'm not entirely sure. Kaladin - "Drown" by Bring Me the Horizon; "We Rise" by San Holo; and "Throne" by Bring Me the Horizon Shallan - "On & On" by Cartoon (when things are going good in TWOK); "Zephyrus" by Bloc Party (when things get creepy); and "Persona" by Coldrain Dalinar - "Sins of the Father" by Donna Burke; "Wretches and Kings" by Linkin Park Adolin - "Classic Man" by Jidenna (it doesn't fully fit, but I like the tone and swagger it gives Adolin) Lift - "PUPA" by Nothing's Carved In Stone. I feel like this song really fit's Lift's attitude and image, but I can also see the lyrics fitting what little we know of Rhythm of War (I haven't read the preview chapters and will abstain from doing so, so I'm not entirely sure it fits the tone). As it stands, this is the Opening for Lift's book as well as her theme song. Shalash - "Gravity (Album Mix)" by Nothing's Carved In Stone. I think this song fits the required angst that Ash and the Heralds should have, as well as alluding to a level of intimacy between Ash and Taln that we got hints of in OB. As with "PUPA" and Lift, this is Ash's theme song and her book's Opening at this point. The Way of Kings - "Re: I Am" (English version*) & "Ref:rain" by Aimer Wit's Epilogue - "Party Monster" by The Weeknd Words of Radiance - "Words That Bind Us," "Song for an Assassin" & "Assassin" by Nothing's Carved In Stone. Wit Epilogue - I haven't actually found The Weeknd's song for this one yet, but I'm sure it'll appear someday. Oathbringer - "Insane Dream" & "Us" by Aimer. Wit Epilogue - "Devil May Cry" by The Weeknd For Non-Cosmere works, I'm still trying to figure out the Reckoners series stuff, but Man of Steel's soundtrack fits pretty well. Skyward's theme song is "Tribal" by Kicks n Licks. Future bass fits the aesthetic, tone, and overall atmosphere of the Cytoverse, and going tribal is something Spensa would definitely do! The whole soundtrack is another xKito mix, but this one's still on YouTube! Starsight's theme song is "Fine" by Mike Shinoda. It captures the creepy aesthetic that Spensa's mission carries with it, and the threats she faces. It's a tonal shift, but aren't most of the best sequels? *The Japanese version is my theme song for the Wheel of Time, so I feel like putting it here is WoT handing the reins to its successor.
  12. That and how much you like it! I've always compared ALTA to the original Star Wars trilogy, but now it's interesting to see how well Korra fits the Sequel Trilogy, in terms of themes, and my feelings towards it. Korra isn't a show I like enough to fully recommend, but I don't dislike it enough to dissuade people from watching it. There are just fundamental issues I have with it that make me not want to re-watch it. Or at least not ALL of it. I'm willing to re-watch Season 3 someday, because that season is on-par with ALTA for me. But I'm not a giant fan of the rest of the show. It's also weird that I feel this way about Korra to me, because I feel differently about other shows that dealt with the same sort of thing. My favorite superhero show is Arrow, yet, just like Korra, its quality varied from season-to-season. Even still, I don't mind recommending certain seasons to people so they can see the best of the show. I can't do that for Korra; it's too connected, yet not connected enough. Anyways, I'm rambling at this point. Overall, I'm happy Korra exists, and it taught me a few things about writing and stories that I didn't know I needed to be taught. If others like/love it, that's great! It's just not me.
  13. I worry about his series endings. This is more of a confession than an unpopular opinion, but I still thinks it works here. We all joke about how productive Sanderson is, but if we look at the series he's written/worked on, at this point he's only finished FOUR: Mistborn Era 1, Legion, Reckoners, and Wheel of Time.* Of those four, three of those he left open for sequels; of those three finales, two are some of Sanderson's least popular works (Calamity and Legion: Lies of the Beholder). That doesn't mean Brandon can't end a series well. Again, Hero of Ages has one of the best endings out of anything I've ever read, watched, listened to, or played. But that's a 100, where the other two are 70s at best. It's still a B, but it's a weak B that won't have room to grow until 2022, when Skyward 4 and Wax & Wayne 4 come out. *Which is partial credit given how extensive Jordan's notes were, and how Jordan wrote the final chapter before his death. It won't be counted in the final tally since there isn't an overwhelming opinion on it. Many fans think he did a good job, or at least as good a job as someone NOT named Robert Jordan could do. Others think his books are the best in the series. And still more think that he ruined the entire series.
  14. I probably won't re-watch it, at least not for a while. But I'm excited to hear my friends' opinions as they watch and/or re-watch the show.
  15. CF has the most videogame cruelty potential of all the routes. You better be sobbing.
  16. Anna is a great character. I wish they did more with her in Three Houses. The Awakening and Fates versions at least had supports! If it's a Genealogy remake, you will be a very happy fan. Mercain...? Mercedes and Sylvain? You can get that on another playthrough! You just need to make sure that each has the highest support level with each other; when you check their info, in the bottom corner of one of the screens it'll show a picture for the closest ally. Make sure your two ideal people have each other for that and you should be golden. If you have the Cindered Shadows DLC, there's a fortune teller lady in Abyss who will lock in your preferred pairings for 10,000 Renown. @Wyndlerunner's got your back!
  17. WHAT HOUSE WOULD YOUR FAVORITE NON-THREE HOUSES FIRE EMBLEM CHARACTER JOIN? What house would your favorite non-Fire Emblem characters join? What do you want to see in the next Fire Emblem game? Are there support conversations you felt were missing in this one? Do you want a Golden Route in Three Houses?
  18. I think that's a fair concern, but what if we saw it as a build up to that stuff instead of them avoiding it? Think of it like the MCU - we didn't start with the Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy, we built up to those things, a step at a time. And when the time was right, we made the jump and everyone was happy for it. Or look at the Cosmere; Brandon didn't start with giant crossovers and major worldhoppers showing up in other works, he took his time getting there. But yeah, I was sad about the lack of Knuckles too. Hopefully they'll do his character justice...I have no doubt that if this movie is given a third instalment, Shadow will show up. He's too popular NOT to.
  19. A little over eight months ago I made a post about how the Fates children would have worked splendidly in Three Houses. It seems like some on Reddit agree with that. (Also, I make an appearance in the comments!)
  20. I had fun watching it with my friend, and I'm looking forward to the sequel. It was dumb fun, but fun nonetheless.
  21. That's awesome! How'd Falcon Knight Leonie work out for you? Your Lorenz sounds hilariously awesome. How was Ignatz for most of the game? I tried putting him in Mortal Savant once...never again. Overall that looks like a fun run-through! Unfortunately I've decided my next GD playthrough will involve a romance with Marianne, for like the third time. But I've seen their S-support! It's cute! And Reddit LOVES Lysithea. Preach! I'd say give them 1-2 seasons in the school setting - enough time for all of the paralogues, supports and extra interactions, and story-based missions - before moving onto the War Phase. Man, that would be such a brutal season finale...
  22. Four years! But more seriously, it took me about a week total. I think it was four days for WoK and WoR at most, and then roughly three days for Oathbringer. If all goes well, it'll knock out Rhythm of War in two to three days.
  23. I sort of doubt it'll be a chapter-by-chapter basis. Dawnshard is supposedly pretty short, and there's already a crunch involved if he wants it out by mid-October; there's no exact release date since he's still writing it, but that's the estimated time. However, if they needed to push it to the week before Rhythm of War, I don't know anyone who would complain. Overall there's just no time for a sort of weekly release, and the size seems to be too small to really encourage it. The Prologue and maybe one chapter is the best we can hope for.
