  1. I love the idea and am TOTALLY down for a Earth-Multiverse situation (the idea of a "perfect" reading order for Sanderson's YA stuff is too exciting on its own now!), but for now I'd honestly just like The Apocalypse Guard and The Atzlanian to work as books and come out first...
  2. I don't dislike Hubert (never used him, probably never will), but his Obviously Evil look always makes me laugh.
  3. NICE. But...isn't thinking of him as simply Wit...shorter...? Or maybe it'll come into play later, since thinking of him as a Jester does help explain his role...
  4. For some reason I had it in my head that the Bad Batch storyline was three episodes; but a fourth one won't see me complaining!
  5. Seeker! ...I GUESS NOW IT'S TIME TO BECOME AN INQUISITOR.
  6. THIS. IS HILARIOUS. PleasepleasePLEASE keep it up!
  7. Is it bad that because of your comment, I read it in Morgan Freeman's voice a la B.o.B's song "Bombs Away?"
  8. Just finished watching Terminator: Dark Fate with my dad! He ranked it on the same level of T3, so tying for third place (his ranking: T2, T1, T3 & Dark Fate, Salvation & Genysis. Sarah Connor Chronicles aren't listed because he never really watched the show). I'd rank it about a 6.5/10. It's not a bad movie at all, but it does things I'm personally not a fan of (boring invincible villains*, retcons, and emotionally stunted elderly protagonists (the only times it worked were Luke in TLJ and Kratos in God of War!)) There were a lot of things to like in this movie. Grace is AWESOME, Dani has an interesting parallel to some lore characters in some not wholly unexpected ways, and Arnold's role is very, VERY interesting to the plot for me. The action sets are varied and interesting, and the characters all have their specialty and moment to shine. But overall, this wasn't the movie for me. If the Terminator franchise wants to revitalize things, have a lead developer of Skynet be protected by a terminator from the future as an unstoppable, terminator-killing master Sarah Connor tries to kill him/her. *I get it, the Terminators represent rampant technology and the fears of it we have. I get it, we can't NOT have an invincible killing machine because that's what a Terminator is. I GET IT, keeping the "monster" helps keep the horror roots involved. And I get it, this terminator was better than all of the Knights of Ren by sheer presence. But it's not enough for me anymore. In T2 the villain never felt invincible. Unstoppable, absolutely, but never invincible. Here, the villain felt invincible.
  9. Mistborn might be one of the few properties that could work as either. For this series, I think changing the medium requires a change of genre focus, and keeping the shorter time limit of a movie might allow Brandon to keep the heist aspect at the front of the series. Making the original series a tv show would require focusing on the politics of high society (which could be nice to see Vin interact with more women). I originally wanted Wax & Wayne to be a tv show, but looking at it now, they're definitely the perfect length for a movie. Although this is something I just thought of - this movie is basically Sanderson's chance to go back and make all those changes to an earlier book every writer wishes they could do! Adding a woman to the crew, maybe having Vin interact with more women outside of balls, fleshing out some of the characters more, little stuff like that.
  10. I too would prefer Stormlight 4 and then The Lost Metal right after, and I do think this is will "delay" TLM until late 2022 most likely (Sanderson might experience some burn out, or bring himself right to the line of it and then choose to write Skyward 3 & 4 instead...which I love as well, but storm it I want my Mistborn 7 too!). But on the bright side, if the movie does work out and if it is good, then we can get a lot of new fans!
  11. I partially agree - look at Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. It's a pretty bloated movie that was written by J.K. Rowling, whose experience is far sharper with the Harry Potter books than it is the movie series. And I say this despite the fact that I LIKED the movie (it's not good, but I liked it)! But Brandon has also talked about how he's getting advice with writing it, and seems to be very aware of the differences in the medium and what traps to avoid. Yes, White Sand was all over the place, but this is slightly different, since it's Sanderson adopting his book to a new format himself. If nothing else, by doing this screenplay Sanderson knows what to cut and what to keep, which gives a guide for whoever comes in afterwards to spruce it all up. I had a thought earlier today that introducing Vin by having her being beat up for trying to escape Camon's gang might be a shocking and captivating start (as well as provide some instant sympathy points for Vin). But keeping Kelsier's actions at the beginning of the movie is definitely the wisest choice for the moment. Agreed on both points. In his current lectures (Lecture # 5 I believe) Sanderson mentioned that he's combining Kelsier's attack on House Venture with teaching Vin the metals, so maybe the one-on-ones aren't as necessary for the magic, but they will most assuredly help flesh out the world and the crew. I'd say maybe by 2025 or so? Sanderson finishes it by the end of this year, pitches it around early next year in-between books, and gets a deal by the end of 2021 or 2022? From there the studio finds a director, starts looking at actors and locations, and moves into pre-production...a few months of filming (3 at most I'd say), far more in post-production, and a solid release window for late March 2024 to try and capture the Spring Break crowd? (He then wins an Oscar for best screenplay adaptation, with fans from this movie wondering how the author of the book feels about the changes...only to find out the author of the book and the screenplay writer are the same person (but different Sanderbots, clearly).) I think it also depends on how well the Wheel of Time and Lord of the Rings shows do (and how well The Witcher does long-term). Maybe Dark One too, if it gets off the ground in the meantime. Or maybe it'll never get a release, but the activity itself will help with creative projects down the line.
  12. Sanderson has talked about this a couple of times now, and now we have a progress bar! What are y'all's feelings on Sanderson writing the screenplay? How do you think this will affect his current writing schedule, if at all? What changes do you think he'll make? What changes would you want him to make? Let's talk about it all here!
  13. That's a popular guess! I'm more hesitant to say that'll be it because it reuses the world "king," but if that's the title I'd like it all the same. My other guess (a variation on a popular guess itself) is Knife of Winds Tethered...but I don't think calling Jezrien's honorblade a knife does the thing justice.
  14. Is it weird that I don't want the Siege of Mandalore yet? I really want all of the cut and unfinished stuff first before the Siege, because having TCW back just feels so storming good. I don't want this journey to end (and if someone quotes Endgame at me I swear to the Almighty I will throw a rusting mushroom at you).
  15. Vote Passion today! He knows what it's like being imprisoned. He knows the pain of being misunderstood. He knows how to follow the spirit of the law, and not just the letter. With the Everstorm, Passion brought storm-equality to ALL. With the Everstorm, Passion helped end the rampant slavery of Rosharans. Passion knows that Hoid is not to be trusted, so don't vote for him! Those pesky rules that have been made? Consider them already Unmade! Give him your pain, and he'll give you all the passion. Vote Passion 2020!
  16. That was fascinating! Sanderson's talked about certain changes before, such as cutting Spensa and Jorgen's romance plot. I hope Jorgen still lives to see the end of the series! It'd be terrible if Sanderson used this outline as a meta-twist, having those of use who read it feel safe since the outline has clearly changed, only for Sanderson to pull the rug under us. Having humans be the Krell in a way would have been interesting, if not a tad predictable. I"m curious how that would play out in Starsight then. Would humans have been secondary citizens, banned from the military due to their violent nature? Could Spensa have simply snuck onto the titular city? Either way, this was fun to see, although I do think I prefer the annotations instead...
  17. Just saw this! Yeah, Eliwood usually is the weakest lord, but I found him useful in certain situations (I'll have to go back to my most recent playthrough, which is a couple months old at this point, but I think I used him as a decent mage-killer...when he wasn't babysitting Ninian...). I think if they made him a Lance lord he could have completed the weapon triangle in a pretty interesting way. But enough about FE 7 (good times...) Three Houses has greatly improved with some anti-frustration features. They added a feature that literally lets you go back to previous turns in battle if you mess up (even up to the start of the battle if you feel so inclined). Unless you're playing on Maddening Mode or you neglected most of your units (people have done that before), the game really isn't hard enough to become frustrated at it. There are some annoying maps late-game, but with a little thought and time you can find your way through them! Also, for most main battles, you DO have to carry the lord you choose into battle. This is barely a hinderance though, because the three lords and the Avatar are all MONSTROUS units who can and will carry your team at certain points. The game is fully voice acted, the character designs give you just enough to understand a character's personality and individualize them, but aren't too flamboyant. The story is so multi-layered, and the replay value is out the wazoo. Below is the gameplay trailer to show off some of the above-mentioned features, and more I didn't. I'd stop watching after the features are covered if you want to go into the game unspoiled.
  18. In the past ten days I've watched four movies.
  19. Still the best Star Wars content around. This episode was awesome! I'm not sure I like the Bad Batch as much as people anymore (they oscillate too much between respecting Rex and the standard troopers and being prejudiced against them/demeaning them), but I love them as characters! Obi-Wan's quip to Anakin is so revealing and such a joy. I'm almost mad I have to wait week-to-week for these episodes.
  20. PANCAKES! They're the easiest to make, have so many varieties, and are the only one of the three that can go savory without people looking at it weirdly (with their country cousin the crepe that is). French Toast is a very close second. I've had better French toast than I have pancakes, and they're the recipe I'm more eager to master. ...well, actually it's pancake French toast (in which one makes pancake batter and uses that as the batter for French toast)...and there are a few more things I'm working out, but it's still French toast! Waffles...I LOVE waffles, I just don't love them as much as I do the other two 100% of the time... I also can't make one to save my life and I have to be in the mood for them to begin with. After a few episodes of Parks and Rec though, this is the only food I want. As an aside, one of my ultimate cooking dreams is to develop a new, fourth type of sweet, syrupy pastry-like breakfast item. The closest I've found was the Japanese sweet Taiyaki, but they're a little small for my liking most of the time and are usually filled with chocolate, red bean paste, or custard (my favorite is the custard). I consider that more of a mix between a pancake and stuffed French toast (using a special waffle iron) than its own thing. Still great though, and I'd love to try them out filled with syrup...
  21. Dalinar's third Oath really helped me through a dark time. If I ever get a tattoo and the whole Oath won't fit, I'll gladly settle for the Bondsmith glyph on my shoulder (and potentially the Bridge Four one on the opposite shoulder...but I'll wait and see how Moash's arc ends before making any decisions like that).
  22. Interesting concept! I still think Brandon might still with the Mistborn serial killer angle, but I wouldn't hate to see the alien angle either! Although when I think of alien invasions, I think more of the 1950's, almost B-rated movies than I do the 1980's (which is all Cold War to me).
  23. I have a similar idea! It was like a knight and princess/lady romance, but it could never happen due to their stations. And then Taln jumps at the chance to become a Herald to protect everyone and stay close to Ash, so finally they could be together...and then the constant Desolations happen, never truly allowing them the chance. Or something like that.
  24. Episode 1, "The Bad Batch," is now up and available to watch! Scud it feels good to watch TCW again!
