I mean Bestarian and Ferrous. How do they look? No physical description comes to my mind. You can split a crystal. But the third generation is propagated in yet another manner.
-
Spren that traverse realms. Still, if it evolved so recently, where are its relatives with a preadaption? Or simple variation in diet. Yes, so we posit that two extraordinary things creation of spren and creation of Stormlight happened independently. It seems likelier that spren and Stormlight arose at the same time and for the same reason. Adonalsium made them. If we think otherwise, what powered the magic the sprens in symbiosis with, e.g. skyeels? Yes, but the counter case can be made, too , and somewhat easier.

TWOK - chapter 4: Insects buzzed into the air; larger crustaceans - crabs and leggers - left their hiding places. TWOK - chapter 7: "... using her open drawing times to sketch the insects, crustaceans, and plants of the manor gardens. Now, we are dealing with an alien ecology. A Rosharan crustacean is a result of convergent evolution, not relatedness. Something small similar enough to an insect that flies.

Many, but not every. For example, they do not jump you and suck you until you turn into a drab or a lifeless. Nor do they eat spren. And Lift stayed an Edgedancer. That points to an evolution with freely available Investiture. Possible, but not an explanation. You'd have to explain why there is a second place that met the conditions for them to evolve. And why do they looks so Rosharan like Cremlings? 6000 years or so for a completely new method of food generation? This looks like at least a preadaption would have been needed. But that means Investiture was available. Otherwise the spren and Stormlight would have to have independent sources. That really looks like an alarming multiplication of sources of extraordinary phenomena. Technically you left out an explanation: 4. Larkin are artificial creations from Rosharan stock - anti Radiant bioweapons
-
Larkin. How did they evolve without ample free investiture in the ecosystem? In fact it tells us that the highstorm hasn't been interrupted for any length of time. They would have starved to death.
-
Surgebinding from Honor came with his blades, which work without oaths. The Spren introduced them. And only some spren. The Parshendi change forms without oaths. And you bond Yelig-Nar by a physical act. Zahel. And Azure. Had his divine breath gone away, he would have dropped dead. Her artificial shard blade worked. Nightblood kept working.
-
That raises a question. Roshar has animals that have evolved to bond spren and live of Stormlight. The Highstorms must be tens of millions of years old at a minimum. Honor is a few thousand years old. I don't see how Stormlight can be coming from Honor.
-
Now you are opening u another question. To what extent do you get accustomed to Stormlight and its effect lessens? Also unknown. I think Heralds are able to hold more Stormlight for longer than ordinary human beings, just because they are designed to use it.
-
So he got it onto his pants. I would say that this makes it likely to be Amberite. But is this the only possibility? Which aether could he have on display? How do the ethers of the first generation actually look like and how are they propagated?

Mismatch. Rhythm of rememberance is better because you combine two learned words. Yet of you want the impact of "Way of Kings" you need to use simple, old words.
-
Yes. However we need to recognize that the data is thin. If I were, for example, to propose that a Dustbringer cannot dissolve aluminium, you would find that neigh obvious. But we have never seen the attempt. The thing is that we have never seen Stormlight in a Herald's body. We have many variables but only one observation.
-
For whom? The original users of Stormlight were Heralds, not human Surgebinders. The Fused are biologically speaking Parshendi with gem hearts and Odium's equivalent of Heralds. Transferring observed effects on them to human Surgebinders is daring.
-
Rhythm is too long and Greek. You need something Anglo-saxon there. Sound of War. Beat of War. Song of War.

Silver: the useless metal... or is it?
Oltux72 replied to Vargo Seldon's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Hoid is carrying a silver sword. If you count the Heralds, the Returned also count. Even Wax, arguably. And do they affect the physical world? Or do they do something to your cognitive aspect which changes you in the physical world? Like a hostile slow version of soulcasting? Even ordinary windspren can use Adhesion. Syl and Pattern, however, actually can touch things, though it is very hard. No metal, other than god metals, carries investiture. They channel it. -
People inside would move around the thing would start tumbling.

OK, how about a matrix of attributes. There is no point in looking at the exact mechanic of initiation. It is different on each world. But it can be seen as obeying a set of attributes. For example on both Scadrial and Nalthis initiation is involuntary. You cannot choose to be an allomancer or your heightening. Wheras on Roshar it is entirely voluntary on both sides. The Spren has to choose you and you can refuse to say the words. But on Nalthis you can give away your Breath. But once an allomancer, always an Allomancer. That yields a second parameter: reversibility I would propose voluntary nature reversability selection
-
With the caveat that we do not know what happens if a (Zinc/Brass - Aluminium) Twinborn tries that after storing his Identity away.

But it fits with autonomy as an ideology. THe highest expression of mastery allows you to be free of external limits.

Augury and an overlooked magic system.

Why the 4th WR Ideal cannot be about sacrificing some to save many
Oltux72 replied to Ripheus23's topic in Stormlight Archive
The Skybreakers may have a crazy leader. But he is a Herald and the spren still accept their oaths. Their attitude is unlikely to come from Cultivation. Why would it be surprising if the only surviving order reflected the original state most closely? Honor built his Oathpact on thousands of years of torture, just because they had agreed, once, before they truly knew what they would face. Honor is honest. He is not merciful or benevolent. Note that he did nothing for the people of Roshar between Desolations. When he needed them to fight, then the Heralds would return. In between he owed them nothing, so nothing they got. -
3. Be an Alumium Gnat. When you start feeling rocky, you burn some aluminium.

Why the 4th WR Ideal cannot be about sacrificing some to save many
Oltux72 replied to Ripheus23's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yes, it is. I need to remind you that Honor is Honor, not Justice. Honor would rather die than break an Oath. Slaughtering the innocent. That, however, is within the pale. The Sons of Honor were not totally outside the realm of the reasonable. Honor is doing what you said you'd do. That includes making good on threats, like executing hostages, and loyalty at all cost. Yes, because it started at the palace. -
Silver: the useless metal... or is it?
Oltux72 replied to Vargo Seldon's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That is the question. If you charge an aluminium metalmind, will it still block your allomancy? On a related note, is any metalmind harder to push, or only one that soembody else charged? -
Masquerading? Why would she change form? If you want to pretend something, Envoyform will serve you well.

Well, it isn't. You can store Identity in it. And it has an allomantic effect.
