  1. For a certain value of old. It is basically the same psychological limit that preserves Kaladin' s scar. But it does not operate on a certain "save point". An interesting experiment would be to put somebody under hallucinogenics and then try Regrowth.
  2. That would mean that Stormlight would work differently from Regrowth or feruchemical gold.
  3. Are the Skybreakers still Knights Radiant? If so, then yes.
  4. The Kholins were a bit like the Kardashians. The majority of the reestablished orders is led by Kholins. And the Windrunners have a leader who is in their service and they are recruiting their squires from the Kholin armies.. The only Knight Radiant not Vorin among the new Knights is Lift. This cannot go on.
  5. We are also talking about that, but not only. Moash wanted revenge. And he is not the only case. Adolin pulled of what Moash only tried. Sylphrena almost died. Pattern had no issue. Why? Adolin confessed his action, let's be neutral, to a Knight Radiant, who is bound by an oath. As is his father. Hence there is the question of how that plays out in the eyes of spren bound to Honor's principles to an extent. And it looks to me as if Spren have no problem with murdering people in revenge. Sylphrena had this issue because Kaladin had promised to protect Elhokar. Is that because she is Honorspren or would all spren see it that way?
  6. There is the issue. I doubt Jasnah can accept the position Elhokar put himself and Alethkar in. Two issues How honest is Taravangian to Odium? How honest is the Diagram to Taravangian? I cannot see Taravangian be more honest to Odium than to anybody else. And as he was extremely clever that day, he may have seen that he himself must not know too much when he is to interact with Odium. Taravangian is the ultimate pragmatist. He would betray his own mother for sufficient benefit. But even if he knows, Shallan's brothers are safer in Urithiru than in Jah Keved.
  7. True. Moash has a revolutionary streak. Only? Blade dead extremeties. And how long does it take to die from a bladedead gut?
  8. Why actually? If you put a price on a man's head, you lose the right to complain if he signs up with your enemies. Nor had Kaladin grounds to complain. He agreed. What did he expect? Sometimes principles collide. Yet I must say that the Vorin lands are ruled by an oppressive aristocracy under religious pretenses. The Darkeyes have every right to rise up and kill aristocrats.
  9. The King claimed that authority. He may have abused it, but it happened on his orders. If he chooses to heed advice that choice includes taking the responsibility. He did not delegate power. He thought he could rule directly. His choice, his fault.
  10. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/105-17th-shard-forum-qa/#e1131 https://wob.coppermind.net/events/360-legion-release-party/#e10864 I would read that as possible, but just not useful. Well, we know for sure that a metal mind does not store just Investiture in bulk. Copperminds would be totally inexplicable. Why would it be unable to store something without Investiture. If you say that it must store in form of "structured" Investiture, you must be ready to say that Identity and Fortune are made out of Investiture. Right, but is there also a qualitative component. We know that invested objects resist other forms of Investiture. Do we know whether it makes a difference if you are pushing or pulling on your own metal minds or somebody else's? (Roshar) Now aluminium could work on a different principle. It doesn't look like the simplest explanation to me, but it is possible. Yet I don't think it is mere coincidence that aluminium stores Identity. Aluminium and invested objects act as filters, not a barriers. Hence the experiment I want to see is a steel/aluminium twinborn wearing aluminium body armor used as a metal mind trying to push on something.
  11. Because Brandon said that compounding it is kind of pointless, but not impossible. Well, that comes back to the notion that Identity cannot exist independently. If it can, why couldn't it be stored in aluminium? Connection, however, can be stored. There can be almost no doubt about this. Medaillons with Connection work. And the song can be recorded independently of the radio waves used to transmit it.
  12. That would make aluminium impossible to compound, which is kind of a problem. And Fortune? If we took this to the logical conclusion then an object without inbestiture cannot have Identity. But why then can you soulcast something into aluminium? It seems to me that these conclusions are based on an assumption on how exactly aluminium works. I doubt we have a full understanding of this. Does alumium block Investiture, full stop? Or does it stop everything with the wrong Identity?
  13. They definitely can channel investiture through aluminium. That much cannot be denied. You can have the Metallic Arts consistent in that regard or make it conform to more of the Cosmere, but not both. Is Identity Investiture?
  14. Szeth lived outside Shinovar for years. Shin sailors and workers are mentioned. The Reshi Isles, the Frostlands, the Purelake or east coast have almost nothing in common as environments. But something in Shinovar kills non-Shin? That looks a bit unlikely.
  15. The Knights Radiant went to battle and after three months 90% of them had gone on disability benefits. Which were not paid because the Voidbringers took over.
  16. A crime they have no proof of. A crime they would implicate themselves in if they talked about it. They have every reason to remain silent. Well, even if they are interested in Cryptics, why would their brothers disbelief the official story of her being an Elsecaller? Maybe the Diagram says otherwise, but then King Taravangian already knows. And they are certainly safer and harder to threaten in Urithiru than in Jah Keved, where he rules. Please elaborate.
  17. The text does not state explicitely what they destroyed. Yet Ashyn is still devastated after millenia. It seems like an unnecessary addition to propose that they also ruined Shinovar, which is perfectly fine and still more terrestial than the rest of Roshar. Population pressure or simple greed are far easier reasons for starting the Desolations. And, frankly, less contradictory. If the humans had just ruined Shinovar, too, why were they strong enough to take the rest of Roshar? A hostile environment they were not adapted to and knew little about.
  18. (The Emperor's Soul) Defending yourself against an allomantic takeover, if you are a hemalurgical construct? Defense against emotional allomancy? These are merely suggestions based on that a stronger self should exclude foreign influence. But yes, the main application seems to surpress your Identity, not to store it for usage. It opens up room your interesting experiments though. Does an aluminium metal mind charged with your Identity still block your own emotional allomancy? Yet on a philosophical note, not all metal minds are useful in filling and tapping. I guess nobody wants to intentionally become hard of hearing or visually impaired, so tin is useful only in tapping. Others like iron are useful mostly in fliing (unless you have allomancy). Others, like brass are dual use. We havn't seen as yet a metal mind that is primarily useful due to being invested.
  19. And I think there will have to be a clash between Jasnah and Dalinar. For example in OB Dalinar just appointed new High Prines of Information and Commerce. Technically that was a coup. If Jasnah wants to be more than a figurehead, she will have to assert her authority against the largest threat against it, which happens to be Dalinar. In fact she may need to point out the irregularity that a High Prince intends to lead the Knights Radiant. Kings have been Surgebinders, Nohadon being the best example, but the Bondsmiths have to be above that. How would they do that? They don't know them. When she left home, she was not known to be a Surgebinder. Would they tell a story about her sister being a thief? And she will live with Adolin. They are relevant as means of blackmail. Yet so are every Radiant's families, the obvious example being Kaladin and the other Windrunners. I guess there is a reason Urithiru is so large. It has to house dependents. If the Ghostbloods tried that, why against somebody who already knows of their existance and could strike back more effectively? They are baiting Shallan with secrets. That works with a scholar. Why ruin that?
  20. At the start the metal mind has to be empty. Which raises the point whether the distinction is even meaningful in case of aluminium. If you can tap it, you can do so without identity apparently. Is that limited to aluminium? If you cannot tap it, the question whether it is keyed is moot. And it raises a frightening point. What happens to you, if you put all your Identity into a metal mind, which is subsequently destroyed?
  21. Within reason. Kaladin as a Skybreaker - maybe. As an Elsecaller - nope. And I suppose Dalinar could also have been a Stoneward.
  22. Isn't Jasnah supposed to have an angular face? Like maybe Tia Carrere?
  23. Oh, I forgot some The secret of shard plate there will have to be some theological reaction to the reformation of the Knights Radiant, the death of Honor and the new Desolation. The great Vorinic schism? a diplomatic mission to Shadesmar. They have a common enemy and the Knights need any help they can get
  24. Pattern can support an illusion and Syl can use Adhesion. Can Cryptics inherently create illusions or is this a result of the bond? And if so, can they take up other abilirties of their partner? Spren seem to pick up the language their partner speaks for example. But how about magic? If a spren bonded a Rioter, can he or she riot after that?
  25. I want to see all Forms of Power The remaining orders obviously Aimians, why did we see one?
