  1. Well, I suppose that's fair... Though that extra line about waiting to post that... I don't see a reason for an elim to add that line unless it's true. And if it's true, I don't think he is an elim. However, I did state before that I've never caught an Araris before, so if you are looking for hedging in my post, there it is. : P Yeah, I agree that the lack of a public claim really doesn't mean anything. The fact that whoever this is clearly trusted Bard to some extent already narrows it down quite a bit. However I still do think it's safest to assume the elims have a Physicker, at least for the time being.
  2. This would be a very good distancing vote by you, had we both been elims. I want to be impressed... but... we're not elims together... xD This vote by Striker seems very AI. But it could be the villager direction due to the unsureness of who to vote on, and not having any good targets, which is absolutely fair. Actually, I do think Striker is village, due to how he is voting me for voting myself. It was forced, and therefore probably would seem more suspicious to someone looking into me. I'm going to say Striker is a village read for now, but this last post isnt truly convincing. You know, I kind of hate C1 where people are already producing real content. Makes killing them a bit more painful. xD I'd give it an all of the above. : P. Though I wouldnt typically say that welcome PMs are AI. Probably best not to cast judgement on that quite yet. Also, I'm not sure why you are voting on me here. You are voting on me to motivate me to remove my vote from myself? Seems a bit counter intuitive to me... though I could see it working. \shrug You know, a game where half of the players are new or returning from a long hiatus really sucks when I refuse to vote on any of them. The players I'd be willing to vote on are: Xino, Striker, Elkanah, Elandera, Kynedath, Kidpen, Joe, Sart, and CadCom. That's less than half the player list, which means I'm probably going to break my rule starting C2. Anyways, I trust Elkanah, Sart's posts are NAI, I dont want to vote on Xino C1 as I havent played with a high activity Xino before... Honestly I'm probably most suspicious of Kidpen, due to the fact he called Xino and myself out for doing suspicious things, and then proceeded to excuse us for those things and delay voting. Kidpen I was about to cast 2 votes on Kidpen xD Edit: forgot to remove the vote on me Fura
  3. Lol I agree. If anyone has the energy or willpower to successfully impersonate me in a doc, they deserve to fool everyone xD. (If someone wants to try, look at the end of LG55's elims doc, and I look forward to reading what you put in that doc xD. Actually it's worth mentioning I genuinely think El could impersonate me, though I doubt anyone else could. Just something to keep in mind if we are both in that doc at some point. Well, the earlier the votes are cast, the more beneficial they are I've played in and spectated a lot of games where almost everyone here has died D1/2. It happens to everyone. Also, everyone deserves to live through the early game... Which is also me saying that no one really deserves to live through the early game. : P (The one exception I'll make to that is people who are either new or haven't played in a long time. Best to give them at least a chance to play before killing them.) Just to make my point, I'm going to vote on myself. Fura Ok, now onto reads... Which I don't typically do here on C1, but I will here... because I feel like it. Village: Elkanah, Elbereth, Megasif, CadCom, TGK Elim: Oh, I guess I don't really have any right now... Perhaps I'm giving out village reads a little liberally... Well, I was originally planning on changing my vote off of myself at the end of this post, but I guess I'll keep my vote there to make sure I come back tomorrow and change my vote. Edit: Gotta get that 300% win percentage somehow : P
  4. I'm now 99% certain Silberfarben is village. Silber had a solid suspicion that only DeTess and I contested. I was actually expecting there to be an elim push for either DeTess or myself (probably DeTess though) to be lynched this turn based off of that. However, with DeTess going insane, that would hurt that effort a bit. I don't think Silber would give up an opportunity like that. I'm not explaining this great, but hopefully what I'm saying makes sense. Lol Also, thank you Hael for posting the player list. I've had to keep going back to the initial thread for it. xD Well, I haven't done a player by player reads list yet, which I see as somewhat of an oversight by me. So here it goes. I'm not going to do these in any specific order. I'm basically just going to do those I find easiest first to get something out, and then I'll move on. Summary of my post: I'm going to put both votes on Elandera. = ) Elandera, Elandera
  5. Well, my head is still mostly in the LG, so I probably won't be quite as active this game as I'd normally like... but I still wanted to join a... more normal type of game. Lol There isn't a ton of rules stuff to analyse this game, which is nice. Though we do seem to have a disagreement about when to use the knifes? Personally, I'd say this changes based on what happens this game. I would strongly discourage anyone from using a knife C1, though generally I'd just say that we should use them on people we are pretty sure are evil, regardless of when in the game it happens... I think that's a pretty good compromise. : P Also speaking of knives, I'm not going to pretend to know enough to guess at how many are in this game. However people that started with knives are almost certainly village. with 22 players, an elim composition where they start with a knife probably only has 3 elims, or 4 with 2 new(ish) elims to offset that. This brings up the point that we could probably use knives to soft clear players... But that's no fun so lets not do that? : P As for the other items, I find it likely the elims will have at least 1 silver powder, and I also agree with Elkanah about that being the elim to do most of the killing. However, as time goes on, the powder becomes more important for the elims to have, so if the elim with the powder gets lynched, they would be more likely to use their action to give the powder to another, rather than just kill one last time with it. This means I would expect the best roleblock targets are going to be people not up for the lynch. Of course, now this is an IKYK, but I don't often think losing the powder would be worth winning the IKYK. It's also worth considering, if you are being lynched an have an item, perhaps passing that item to someone else. This of course depends on if there is anyone trustworthy enough to get that item, but it's something worth considering. I disagree. Not with your conclusion, just the premise. I don't believe 6 cycles until LyLo is really something that should make people feel all that secure. However, it does mean that we can take 2-3 cycles to collect info before we are in need of correctly identifying an elim. I'll post a vote probably within the next couple hours.
  6. Is this a token vote that doesn't have much meaning, or are you voting on a suspicion? As you still have 1 unused vote, if it is the latter, you should be putting both on me. : P
  7. And yet again I thought the cycle was ending this hour, forgetting it's not for another 4 hours xD
  8. Sorry, I just woke up. Still deciding who to put my votes on, but I'm pretty sure Sibler is village at this point. Silber Silber Edit While I'll apologize to Bard for taking away his chance at becoming a Master, I just went back over the rules, and I think expelling him shouldn't be too big of a deal for Village Bard. He will still be able to talk in thread, do things in Imre, and use actions on people not attending the University. Also, if we expelled every player in the game, the village would win. So we shouldn't shy away from expelling people. Bard (14): Hael, Elandera, Elkanah, Elkanah, Straw, Straw, Xino, Xino, Coda, Coda, Araris, Devotary, Fura, Fura Coda (5): DeTess, DeTess, Rath, Lopen, Lopen Araris (2): Karnage, Karnage DeTess (2): Silber, Araris Elkanah (2): Bard, Bard Burnt (1): Kynedath Fura (1): Silber Xino (1): Elandera However even with all these votes, there is still a somewhat reasonable chance that Bard won't get expelled. 9. @little wilson @Elbereth If someone says something in RP that is a lie, and is in no way game related, will that come up as a lie with this ability?
  10. It's Megasif! I'll sign up... Though I don't think I'll be doing any RP, so I won't include a name.
  11. Simple. But first of all, you are rephrasing his message instead of analyzing what he said and how he said it. Who is he saying got good luck? I interpreted this as a general statement saying we have good luck. Meaning that the "And perhaps..." part is talking to skindancers. Saying they received bad luck. The fact he says "if you are a skindancer" means he is talking to others. Implying You are interpreting what he said as he is talking to the people who are now El'the. with the "good luck" perhaps or perhaps not being a general statement, and the "you" being to the El'the's, and the "bad luck" referring to us. This changes the audience he is talking to 2-3 times without actually saying who his audience is, where as my interpretation allows a constant unchanging audience throughout the message. Maybe not as simple to explain as I thought. Lol. The thing is, I also recognized both ways of interpreting it before my initial post. I posted that anyways because I wanted to see how they reacted. To be honest, the response didn't make me feel much better. I'm also surprised by just how aggressive you are defending him. While I feel like this would be a strange response for an elim!Straw to have with an elim!Silber... But I don't think I've played a game with you before as an elim, so I'll just take note of it. While no one wants to get lynched, there is a very popular sentiment in this community that getting lynched as village is OK as long as it progresses the game and/or provides information. Even that being said, even on MU, where everyone tries really hard not to die, trying to hard not to die is also considered suspicious. Again, because it hurts elims more than the village. A newer player, admittedly, is less likely to see the game this way though, as it requires a view of the forest of the game, rather than just the trees.
  12. I shouldn't complain for you reading a post of mine as villager, though when I made that post, I was thinking as an Edema Ruh trying to help other Edema, not as a villager or elim. I'm pretty sure I would have made it as either. Yeah, that is interesting now you mention it... Though it's possible only Striker and I have been dumb enough to brave the Mews, for the chance at Uni powers... so... xD (I don't even think I'm really sharing anything too secret. It's probably would be pretty obvious I'm in the Mews to anyone who read my posts last turn. Lol) Xino is actually a Commoner, so I think his activity was more his own thing, though Commoners do still benefit a lot from tuition reductions. I actually went into this game expecting STINK to be arguing against targeting the nobles, but he stayed somewhat out of that discussion. Personally, I find it difficult to read into Elandera's post there simply because I feel like players in this game have a larger survival instinct than normal. (*cough* [insert comment about FFA mindset] *cough*) So when I read that comment, I see it also as a mix between something trying to make sure she doesn't get expelled, as well as adding onto the spreading out votes discussion. She didn't mention this, but if someone is to get expelled this game, it would be much better if they get a ton of votes and everyone knows they are going to get expelled rather than it happening at random to someone after the cycle ends. Am I putting words in her mouth? Perhaps... But that's sort of what I thought when reading her post. Anyways, thanks for the analysis, much appreciated. =) DeTess was merely pointing out that attempting to avoid people voting on you is typically a sign of an elim. The best way you can get the votes off you will be to put forward some effort to finding the elims, be that analysis, PMs, or something else you think of. : ) Following up on the discussion between Bard and Elkanah, this post actually is really off. The only thing I can think of is perhaps Elkanah misspoke, and perhaps they could enlighten us on the matter a bit. While bard provided commentary on the paragraph, I'm going to go through line by line. Anyways, I'm considering moving my votes, though I'm not convinced I'm not misreading this at the moment. So I'd like to hear back from Elkanah first. : ) Also, to be completely honest with everyone here, I haven't read the thread at for most of the entire first Cycle... Instead of spending my time catching up with the thread, I instead tried to jump into what was currently happening... Hopefully I'll have time to go back through C1 at some point, though I generally think C2 will be more worth my time as that's when I think people really started playing the game.
  13. I think this is good analysis, though I will say I think this is all Not Alignment Indicitive (NAI) for Araris. He has a very agressive playstyle, and is not afraid to get people killed, or get killed, in games to make sure the village has enough information to proceed. 1. I would disagree with this. Before Araris spoke up in turn 2.1 (I think), everyone was pretty much trying to spread out the votes as much as possible. After he tried consolidating the votes, some people (myself and... someone else) both bandwagoned a bit. Then last turn was the first time there was significant effort for someone to be hurt from the lynch. 2. Well, I'm pretty sure he said he was busy before then. It's also easier to form opinions on stuff after seeing others do things. I'd know, as it took me a while to realize why the vote splitting bothered me. There is just no progression to the game if we split votes. 3. While this is true, if we expel a student, the Skindancers lives are 1/18(ish) easier. They may not need to worry about that student, but there's another 16-17 to worry about. If we expel a skin dancer, they lose access to their abilities, and we have 1/6 an easier time. So they proportionally lose more than we do by getting expelled. (The numbers are approximates, as I don't have the player count in front of me as I'm on mobile). And that is why by trying to expel people, we can also force people to interact in-thread. The elims will help each other (to varying extents) not get lynched, so we can catch them out that way. Lashings do roleblock people.
  14. I apologize for voting on you so early. Admittedly, I voted on you in the hopes you would be online in time, though even if you had, I doubt I would have moved my votes. Also, I didn't necessarily want you expelled. However I wanted serious votes to start happening, and my options were essentially you and Devotary, and Devotary is just a gut read. It seems the only vote on you that you contest is Devotary's. However, the more votes on someone, the more serious the consequences, meaning the less the elims would be comfortable with those votes. This means that by actively trying to kill/expel/hurt players via lynch as much as possible, we get the most information from other players in the thread. It isn't necessarily fun to be voted on, something I can understand. However, if we don't vote in that manor, the mid/late game is going to become stagnant and the game might die due to lack of info. Which is something I have seen happen to several games with more information. We have to make sure there is enough to encourage people to keep analyzing, otherwise the RPers will just completely take over. : P I also stand by the fact you were better to vote on than Lopen. Though this is the second time Devotary has defended Lopen, at least this time she explicitly said he wasn't a great target. I wrote out a whole response as to why I thought Striker would have been the elim target, but I thought Striker was a noble for some reason. Him being a Ruh, and not posting very much, makes it very likely he was staying at the Mews, and staying there for 4 turns gives a... if I did my math right... ~35% chance of going insane. So actually pretty resonable.
  15. I think I'm going to continue keeping track of what ranks people are in-thread. If people have a reason this is a bad idea, please let me know. But I can't imagine the elims are going to make a mistake about this. E’lir (Rank 1) Seoras (Haelbarde), Leo (Lopen), Kendel (Elkanah), Straw Altiora (Straw), Ugfal the Three-Handed (Stink), Catalan (Coda), Amila Tays (Zillah), Arael Solon (Araris), Rath, Traelynn Weeks (Kynedath), Knighter Nune (Rover) Re’lar (Rank 2) Bryn Aria (Burnt Spaghetti),Evelyn Bryen (DeTess), Lin Wa (Walin), Lord Silberfarben, Maern (Xino) El’the (Rank 3) Shard (Experience), Nethwyl Nox (Bard). Based on this, I think it likely that Bard and Experience have chosen fields that no one else is attempting to go into. Edit: You are assuming that these people are good and not skindancers. If this was anything other than your first game, this would probably singlehandedly make you my highest suspicion. That being said, as it's your first game, it just puts you on my suspicion list... And... Hopefully you wont mind holding on to these votes for a little while? =) Lord_Silberfarben Lord_Silberfarben
  16. My vote on Bard is more than a gut read. Analysis is really challenging this game, and due to the nature of the rules and how this game feels like a FFA despite being an elim/village game, I'm sort of making up what I think would be AI as we go along. I don't think AI stuff this game will necessarily be the same things that are AI in standard games. However I'm not going to go read through the previous runs of this to check. If you reread my previous post, I detail out who and why I find them suspicious. Devotary is my only elim gut read. I agree. But again, I think this is due to the fact the rule-set makes this game feel like a FFA, in which people want to generally not do anything drastic publicly, because they don't want attention, and the lynch, brought against them. This is why I keep referencing how this is an elim game, as I'm hoping that people will stop thinking of this game as a FFA, where they just do their own thing and they never have to interact with anything.
  17. You are heavily implying here that Bard would not be a preferred choice of yours to lynch. Clearly you are voting for the sake of consequences, but who would you be voting on had you the choice of anyone? I mean, I think everyone with votes spread around is encouraging people to spread votes around. That would include Lopen, but also many others.
  18. Lopen has put a lot of effort into the game this turn, and due to that, I'm going to back off of him for a bit at least. Effort into solving the game is a really good indicator of alignment, and I know how hard it is to analyse people this game. DeTess... I don't remember why I said I was inclined to think they were village. But DeTess and Lopen were the two I was most considering voting on last turn, I looked into both of them, and I felt like DeTess' posts sounded more like they were coming from a villager mindset. It's worth noting that Devotary's last post implies the votes on Lopen lost their reasoning, but they don't outright state it. While I don't really want to vote on Lopen this turn, if he does turn out to be evil, I'd look at Devotary next. I don't like the vote on Straw. Currently I think Straw is mostly NAI, though I like quite a few of their posts. Built off Devotary's: Lopen(4): DeTess, Striker, CadCom, Bard Walin(2): Karnage, Experience Striker(2): Straw, CadCom Straw(1): StrikerDevotary(1): LopenGreen Rover(1): LopenRathmaskal(1): Elkanah,Elandera(1): KarnageBard(1): XinoExperience(1): Xino Zilla(1): Straw Out of the people who have voted, DeTess, Bard, and Elkanah have only committed one vote. In addition, CadCom, Striker, Karnage, Experience, Straw, Lopen, and Xino have all spread their votes between multiple people instead of consolidating on 1 person. I see the people who have only cast one vote as hedging somewhat. They seem to want to encourage voting on a single target, yet don't want to be the reason that said target get's the negative effects. I'm going to reread through DeTess either now or next turn, we'll see if I get around to it. I don't like the votes on Lopen, Walin, or Straw. I understand the votes on Striker, though I don't agree with them off the top of my head. I also like the votes on Devotary and Bard. Straw, is it just me or are you trying hard not to vote on anyone with votes currently on them? Voting on CadCom, then Hael, then Zilla? Also, this is a poke vote? You're voting on someone for lack of content near the end of the cycle, which makes little sense. Why not move your vote to a suspicion? I do find this suspicious, and with you already having a vote, that moves you into people I might vote on this turn. @everyone who has been talking about being nervous about analyzing/voting on people. The only way you get better at this stuff is if you practice. With, I'm guessing, 5/6 elims, there is no way everyone being voted on here is an elim. But everyone is fine getting voted on. If you vote on me, I'm about to not even be in the university, so It'll hardly matter soon enough. xD Ok, so right now I think I'm going to vote on Bard Bard. Bard, I'm sorry, but I do want this to hurt. No offense. : P I really don't like how CadCom AND Bard both voted on Lopen... Just because. While I really do appreciate the fact you two are voting, I also don't like that you are voting on people you don't think are the elims. Right now, I'm most suspicious of: Devotary, CadCom, Straw, Bard. I'm most trusting of: Myself... Honestly, maybe Lopen now? I'm not sure. Edit: Ninja'd by Kyndath. And we are on exactly the same page xD Edit again, updated votecount: Bard(4): Xino, Kynedath, Fura, FuraLopen(4): DeTess, Striker, CadCom, Bard Walin(2): Karnage, Experience Striker(2): Straw, CadComStraw(1): StrikerDevotary(1): LopenGreen Rover(1): LopenRathmaskal(1): Elkanah,Elandera(1): KarnageExperience(1): Xino Zilla(1): Straw
  19. Oh, you're cool. I have absolutely no problem with people voting on me from RP. I, of course, will attempt to respond with RP though to (de?)escalate the situation. : )
  20. Yes, but I really needed at least 1 elevation before I could stop going to the University. That way I could actually do stuff. As it is, I don't think I'm making it into the University next turn...
  21. Well, just a heads up for the Edema who haven't considered taking out a loan from Devi yet: As our income is so low, we are unable to take a loan from her at all unless we give an item up as collateral... Just something I think is important for people to know before they make plans that rely on that money. :'(
  22. Haha, same. I know have 15 EP filed in the same field and I still haven't been elevated... And while I still don't know if my field is super contested or if I got unlucky, I really did think it was going to be less contested xD. Granted, if I can scramble up enough money to stay in the University, this does mean my progression will be a lot more efficient than others that did get elevated... So idk if it's a good thing or not. What makes you say this? Each field gets significantly better if you try to specialize in it. I feel like people who feel like min/maxing this game might go into 2/3 fields, but other than those people, I feel like generally people would just go into one. _________________________________________________ Lyoan smiled sadly as she watched Silberfarben freak out seeing her pamphlet. Of course, she meant it as a positive thing, something to ease people's lives. It can be a lot of work, travelling around the campus, looking for everyone, and asking after their elevations. Even then there is the problem with whether or not they are lying, which means you also sometimes have to talk to the masters to make sure. And then the masters don't like being bothered by dozens of students. So by making a single pamphlet early on, she was hoping to both make students' and masters' lives easier, which would maybe put her in some of their good graces. Unfortunately, it seemed to have the opposite affect on this "Lord" Silberfarben fellow. Who did they even think they were? A commoner with "Lord" in their name? She shoved these thoughts and her pride aside. She couldn't afford to be in the masters' bad graces this term, and Silberfarben was undoing all the work she thought she had just done! She needed to stay at the University without the inflated tuition. She walked over to Silberfarben and gave a small bow, trying to keep any mockery from it. "Lord, I apologize you took this message so poorly. However, please realize that all of this information was public to any interested party regardless of me posting this. I can also guarantee that any people who would target you specifically due to this information, also would be just as likely as myself to put this work in, so I might as well share it with everyone. Surely you understand?". Lyoan ended that sentence with a, hopefully sweet, smile.
  23. Well, I noticed at least one person has already been raised to Re'lar, and as the information is public, and everyone is going to do this anyways, I'm now just going to start a list of what ranks people are: E’lir (Rank 1) Seoras (Haelbarde), Maern (Xino), Leo (Lopen), Kendel (Elkanah), Straw Altiora (Straw), Ugfal the Three-Handed (Stink), Re’lar (Rank 2) Bryn Aria (Burnt Spaghetti),Evelyn Bryen (DeTess), Nethwyl Nox (Bard), Lin Wa (Walin), Shard (Experience), Lord Silberfarben El’the (Rank 3) No one There are a surprising number of people already at rank 2. And this primarily gives information to those who have been elevated. Those that have been elevated twice, are likely in less contested fields, and those people will know what fields they are. The people Elevated to E'lir in the second batch probably get the most information as to what fields other's are going into, as you will know one of the people elevated to E'lir in the first batch, and are still E'lir, are in your field. Based on previous games and what people have said in-thread (Thanks Straw!), it's also probably not a bad assumption to make that Archives, Arithmetics, and Naming all got different people elevated. Though who knows. =)
