"Point for you." Mike agreed and lifted his glass again. He needed to stop going through his drink so fast, otherwise he would end up with an empty glass while she was still waiting for her tea to cool down. He set it down on the table again without drinking anything, trying to sort his thoughts. "I just - sometimes I feel as if things would be easier if I could do something special. Something more than just walk around and -" he fell silent when he noticed that his sentece would end with 'break into houses and steal things' which she probably wouldn't like. Instead he simply shrugged, and looked down at his hands, hoping she hadn't noticed his slip of tongue. When he looked up again, he saw a figure, a man - maybe, it was hard to judge with the jacket they wore, leave the tavern, his own bag slung over his shoulder. Paling Mike jumped to his feet and pointed at him. "my bag." he gasped and looked back at Freya, unsure whether he could simply leave her behind or not. If the thief had any kind of investiture it would be suicide to follow them, to even try to get the bag back.

I wasn't home from thursday on and therefore had no real access to the shard (nor any device apart from my mobile and I can't rank characters without a larger screen to work with) - sorry to keep all of you waiting. The other two mods you could tag are @Voidus @I think I am here. should I be unavailable. Sadly nobody edited our list in the description yet, so we have to deal with the longer list of names for the moment. @Rushu42 As usual you can find my comments below in green. ========== @Gears ========== @Arlin =========== @AmazingGoob Welcome to the Alleyverse!

Exactly. And then I don't know why they want to give me some kind of medicine or why something is neccessary and I have to trust a stranger. If they make a mistake, I have no way to help or undo anything or even tp judge why and how. And then the syringes... uhhh... Although honestly I'm glad I'm not the only one around here who's scared of them. It always feels so childish to me, as if, as an adult I should be able to deal better with these things. Right now, I might need some surgery and while it's only a low possibility, the fact that it might be neccessary alone is causing me sleepless nights already. Which is stupid, because things will be fine. They just have to.

Hello and welcome to the shard! As you've read the books set in the cosmere - which one did you like best?

Sorana hesitantly walks up to the tavern. She wasn't entirely sure whether she had visited before or not, but now, now was a good time for it. She openend the door and looked around, tried to see those who were there. Familiar faces, and a few ones she'd never seen before. "Hello." she greeted them all with a smile and uneasily shifted her weight to her other foot. She hated walking in on people, not knowing who was talking to whom. "I finally found my way to this place." she added weakly and then shut up.

"Do you think so?" Mahad didn't stop. "Stupid cat, it will never learn how to fly." he flew in a happy circle and then hovered in the hallway in the first floor. There it was. The cat, rubbing it's cheeck against a wall. "What now?" he whispered to Glint as he observed the cat. ======== Wordlessly Shana turned, wrapped her arms around him. "I'm here." she whispered and looked into his eyes. "They didn't hurt me." she tightened her grip around him. "I was so afraid." she added her voice raw. "I feared they would take you somewhere, I could never reach you again, never find you again." Falling silent she then shook her head. "Rob knows." her voice was still low, her words meant for him and not for anybody else. "I've seen it. He knows." Robs face, the father in front of him. How he'd screamed and screamed, the tears, the fire. "He knows." she repeated trying to push the picture away, "That's why I don't understand. He changed, is different than before. Angrier, or maybe scared. But he would never admit it, he's Rob." she forced a smile on her face. @Lunamor

I feel you! I have to admit, I'm a huge coward and scared of a lot of things, but syringes, hospitals and medicine are my number one, shortly followed by spiders (and other smaller creepy animals). My issue with the whole hospital part is, that I always feel so helpless. They can do anything to me, and I lack the knowledge to judge the effects it will have on me and my body and brain. That makes me so anxious I usually prefer to avoid all of it, unless it's really, really, really neccessary. Add to that the fact that I'm scared of anything damaging my body (yes, I don't even have whole for earrings) makes a real bad combination. Weird, I know, but it really freaks me out. The prospect of ending up in surgery or catching a severe illness gives me nightmares.

"You know that young man?" Alrik ask, watching as the figure left the store. "He seemed to be a little unhinged." "Anyway," he turned back to Poller, memorizing the other man's face. He could always look into that later. "So, like I said, some leaves, wrapping themselves around the vial, and the metals I mentioned. How do you want to proceed? I can wait - but I can also come back tomorrow, if you need some time. Just as you prefer."

Mike nodded, smiled at her. "It has to be fascinating to see more than one world." he mused. "I always wondered how the whole travelling part really works. You know, people talk about portals and these - per, perpendiculies? But in the end it's just a huge vague mess to me." Shrugging he tugged on his gloves again, straightening them, despite the fact that they already were sitting very comfortably on his hands. "Sometimes -" he started, and then paused, looked into her eyes, unsure whether he should go on. "Sometimes I wish, I would be from one of them. Not knowing what's outside, without all of this complicated magic and all that. Just a normal life." He had heard stories about cities moving through the sky, or crawling over the earth, changing place every now and then. Their rulers were cruel - but he didn't care about that. The guilds controlling this city were cruel, too. Sheepishly he added, "I always feel a bit outclassed you know? I'm noone special, but this city evolves around the special ones." after a short pause he added his mouth turning into a smile, "like you. You are special."

Maha flew in a tight circle and then nodded. "I saw it too." he agreed and shaped his body like a cat's. "Let's go and take a look, it has to be somewhere." Withouth waiting for a reply he flew off, moving the legs to appear running through the air. ========= Shana nodded, her grip around his fingers tightening. "That was exactly what I'd thought." she agreed and gently brushed her thumb over the skin of his hand. "He as an individual hasn't hurt us, so I saw no sense to -" she fell silent didn't finish her sentence loudly. Ben would know what she had been about to say. "Journey before destination." she said instead and smiled at him, moving close. "I am fine to do things I never thought I ever would, if it means protecting, if I can take that burden instead of someone else taking up on it. I am fine to be our first line of defense, to move in quickly, with fire and fury around me. But -" she hesitated again, tried to come up with the right words, "It has to be just in some way? It has to be the right way to go and I felt, I just felt as if mercy would be better than simply going on." Closing her eyes for a moment she sighed. "And here I am trying to argue for a decision you already told me you support. And I'm glad you do." swallowing her voice grew quieter. "James and Rob, the way they looked at me, as if I was a Voidbringer myself, just for letting him go. As if I singlehandely started killing off our own people."

I whirl around when the door opens. I had expected a lot, but not this, not someone stumbling in on me, in this last few hours that I belong to myself and not to the crowd. It's a girl, hairstyle and makeup easily showing that she belongs to those who will watch the games. Someone from the capitol. "I..." I start, somehow speechless by the fact that a girl from the capitol just walked through that door. Or maybe it's the fact that she stayed and didn't immedtiatly leave again. Depite the hours I've been groomed by them, my hair cut into shape and dyed a strange seagreen colour, those living in the capitol still strike me as weird. "I..." I start again, suddenly unsure what she wants to hear. My district? My name? My ranking? Uneasily my hand moves towards my plain cloths, indicating them while I state my name. "Marik." I reply. "I was just passing the time, you know?" I laugh awkwardly, unsure what to make of her and at the same time I'm incredibly glad that she found her way here, that she pulled me out of my thoughts. "Who are you?" I ask, throwing away all thoughts of caution. "Can I help in some way?" I'm not sure how I might be able to, but the words leave my mouth before I think too much about them. I definitely can't show her the way to whereever she's supposed to be right now. Mostly because I have no real idea where I am in the first place.

Nervously I open and close my hands, only to open them again, look at my palms, at the slight scar on the left one, where I'd gotten too close to a heart as a child, played with the beautifully glowing stones lying in there, moving them this way and that way and finally catching one, as I would a ball. I close them again, take a breath and then press my fingers together tightly, focus on the sharp pain of my nails biting into my flesh. Waiting. I always hated to wait, prefered to work, to do something, to be active. But instead they force me to wait. To sit in this room and to wait, wait while they do whatever it is these people from the capitol do. Maybe drink the sweet wine I tasted a few days ago. Or eat roasted pork, with sauce tasting like oranges. I bit down on my lip in frustration, walk around in the small chamber. Waiting. I had been nervous when I was elected, had felt as I've been rushed away, as if it all had been nothing but a dream, like a train I'd hoped onto and missed getting off in time. I open my hands, exhale, the air leaving my lungs in a gush and I shake my head at my own reaction. I knew this moment would be coming. I knew. But now, right here and now I feel like a little boy, walking on the square for the first time, his name in the bowl. But I'm not a little boy anymore. I am older now and I should have known it would happen. I should have. But now that the day is here, that it's about hours, about minutes, not about weeks I wish I would have a little more time. And a sponsor. I wish I would have a sponsor. I had no idea that a dear friend of my writer already decided to stand by my side. How could I know. I wasn't talking to them, to those whose money would decide the game. But I saw her. The eyes, the kindness that flickered in them. Maybe she would be here, stand by my side. ( @AonEne ) My hands close themselves again. I open them. I close them. I wait, count my breaths. Soon I will see the other tributes. Soon things will happen. Soon, I will be able to do something.

"I grew up here." Mike gave a slight shrug. "Don't know if that counts as liking it though." he lifted his glass to his lips and drank, the sweet and sour juice making him smile. It had been too long since he'd gotten something nice and good to drink. "The city can swallow you, easily at that. I know my way around -" he stopped remembering how he had stumbled into the shop, utterly convinced it was a tavern. "Most of the time." he amended quickly and tried to shove the cold feeling that ran slong his spine away. Something was wrong, he shouldn't even be here. He should be - they were - the thought fled him and the smiled at the girl again. "I like how many different people are around, all coming from different places." he placed down his glass again, his stomach grumbling quietly again. Food. He had forgotten to order some food. "And you? Are you from arond here, or from a different world?" his voice grew slightly excited at his last words, the prospect to talk to someone willing to tell him a little more about the other worlds apart from 'they exist, they are dangerous, they are different' enticing.
