  1. I'm sure, he means The Way of Kings.
  2. http://www.tor.com/blogs/2013/03/brandon-sanderson-rithmatist-tour Here edit: I won't be anywhere, it's far to far away.
  3. This doesn't feel right for me. BS said that Splinters "have never been human."
  4. Thanks a lot; I should have read a few postings more.
  5. I might have missed something essential but I apologize for not being with the both of you about this ability of the Seons. Because about this point there is another thread I dare to only give a link.
  6. *whine* My beautiful posting is gone . This is a sign! I shouldn't write so much. Now the shorter version. -- Quote for the spiritual connection -- You mentioned the ability of Seons to complete themselves. Do you refer to this statement: http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=769#211 Though I haven't read the annotations *shame on me* I'm pretty sure that this ability is really cut out and no more existent on Sel. -- Divine Breath source I'd like to remind that, yes, the Divine Breath is transferable but if the Returned uses it to awaken something that consumes the Breath (like a Lifeless or the squirrel) (s)he can't get it back alike when (s)he gives it to heal somebody, so (s)he would die.
  7. Should I or shoud I not? The Parshendi are not human, but you probably already knew that. The two races of Aimaians are not human either. There are many races of sentient spren. From there, it depends if you call something like Ryshadium sentient or not. Forum Q&A Note to myself: Do not only mention the source but give it! It's easier.
  8. Szeth isn't bound to a spren: source Also Brandon said, that source Did I loose track now?
  9. Interesting thoughts, indeed. Renarin's future is more than open I think. But I don't think he "goes Theon Greyjoy". There are very different preconditions. Theon had been a protected person by Eddard Stark and his family. IIRC he was treated well but never really felt at home there. Again IIRC he never did support Robb or his siblings as Renarin does with Adolin. There was envy and jealousy from the beginning he had to stay with the Starks. Therefore I don't see any reason to draw a parallel between Theon and Renarin. This, too, because I don't want Renarin to experience what Theon had to later on. I think, too, that's not the way BS will proceed. Though we see violence (Szeth, the fights on the Shattered Plains) there is not such a sadistic, really bad and more then absurd violence in TWoK as it is shown (much too much) in ASoFaI. And I don't think (always believing in the good in men) that Renarin never would betray somebody, especially his family, that way as Theon did. edit: typo (I realized when I saw BlairJ's quote)
  10. Thank you, that's more clearly now. I , too, thought that spren may be Splinters when I read the OP but then (mis)remembered and was nearly sure that BS once said that spren were no Splinters. Searching evidence for this I found nothing, so I must have misremembered this. Syl explains that in the book itself: TWoK Chapter 57 and later: TWoK Chapter 67 And, after lurking around here some other things about Syl too: http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=585#7 http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=697#12 http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/2383-qa-with-brandon-sanderson/?view=findpost&p=42187
  11. Uhm, sorry, if this has been mentioned before: This error occured after hitting the "post preview" button. Maybe I forced it (trying to play around with the quote-tag), BUT: I didn't in any way wanted to access the Coppermind. So, "yeah, I'm doomed". HItting the "back" button in my browser left me with the blank editor-window. :/
  12. May I ask for a reference for this "all but confirmation"? I tried to find myself but didn't get any result.
  13. Just in addition as I found this: source PS: it's from today

Indeed There are interesting connections around the cosmere between linguistics and some cultures. Though different groups of humans were created on different planets, the Shards all share a single point of origin. However, the Tranquiline Halls legends are not related to a Nalthis/Roshar connection. source
  15. I don't know whether others had this problem but I couldn't print threads (each try with different browsers ended in a white page and not getting back to the forum itself) -- and now it works! Thanks!
  16. Here it is . ,,, PS: The is now on the right side. :-)
  17. @FlashWrogan and Senor Feesh: thanks a lot, you helped me understanding.
  18. If I'm understanding you right you imply that a lot of people (first of all elder people, but also people with certain medical conditions [i.e. multiple sclerosis or the like]) have different IQs on different occasions? So we, too, all underlie our form on the day, (over)tiredness, and so on, and therewith we don't have 24/7/365 the same ability to solve problems, I don't think that our IQs differ then (what would be if I understood you right). About Taravangian your thoughts may be right, but he's "a special case", as I would say.
  19. Help me please. I'm not sure if I get this right. My understanding is this: "The lack of an entity" means there are no more "Shardholders" on Sel and the Shards themselves are splintered and therefore the powers of Dominion and Devotion are not concentrated, and, so to say, run around rein-less or disorderly. Here also Spren are far more extensive on Roshar ... means: There are far more spren on Roshar than there are Seons and Skaze on Sel? And so I understand what a release valve is I don't get, what the spren help release? The Splinters of Honor? What good would it be to "release" the Splinters of Honor? I apologize for this questions that most of you may find silly. edit: my last thought was answered from Kurkistan just above this posting.
  20. Uhhm, surely not only in TWoK/SA because Hoid shows up as Hoid in The Final Empire (Ch. 19). Or did I misunderstand you?
  21. Nice work, and as I can assume, a lot of work! Thanks for this. Adding to Straff's point: The "About me" section in my profile also causes an error. But for both of them I think they will work when that bit of broken stuff is repaired. Edit: I knew I forgot something. Do I err or are the avatar pictures bigger than before? They are really dashy but I can't say why. Edit #2: Are this "HOT"-icons needed? They're kind of disturbing, or am I alone with this feeling? And I may have missed it, but I didn't find the possibility to get to the last posting of a thread (from the overview). (Not the last unread, this I found.) Edit #3: I found it . And this "0 warning points" creeps me out. I hope I'll never give you a reason to give me one. :/
  22. That is definitely something we should do! Probably a sticky topic in each main board for FAQs on each subject, or something. Please don't feel annoyed. Though I see that making some threads sticky I personally would prefer one sticky thread with links to the potential FAQ-threads. I tend to be confused if a board/forum starts with (overstated) half of its first page having sticky threads. Is this understandable? :/
  23. I'd like to turn back to Shallan. Though I personally am not convinced of her being a murderer (I can't explain, why): If I understand the interpretation of the reading right, she felt unworthy for her fathers care, what implies that she soon before murdered someone (her stepmother?). In TWoK she admits (applying access to Shadesmar from the Truthspren), that she killed her father. If this is right, she would have killed (at least) two persons. Maybe that was already obvious to most of you, then I really apologize for bringing this up.
  24. The last at first: I've looked in my e-book and in my paper book, in both of them it's "Landed" too. In the German book it's translated as "city lord". @ Szeth's blade: It is theorized that it is an honorblade (probably Jezrien's). @ "Kaladin's bag of spheres" It's my theory that Syl played her pranks with Kaladin back then. It's more obvious when she sticks his bowl to his fingers (TWoK Chapter 2). So I think, he wasn't unwittingly Surgebinding. That came later (since his first bridgerun).
  25. I'm sorry for me not really understanding: accurate == precise, exact or accurate == true, correct, genuine Thanks in advance.
