  1. Where did your username come from? I've always wondered about this.
  2. The human planet drifted through space, orbiting its unremarkable sun. Three gas giants drifted in the void beyond. Comets whirled around the sun in a futile effort to escape its gravity well. Asteriods clashed in silent annihilation, and the corpses of dead gods flailed in idiotic stupor. In every sense of the word, this system was entirely normal. It had always been normal. But no longer. High above the human planet, The Honor of Maccrage ripped its way back into reality, emerging from a writhing maestrom of Investiture in the void. The rift closed behind the needle-nosed ship, leaving tendrils of glowing light in the void. She glided towards the planet, death on her wings. The Exterminatus had arrived.
  3. Welcome to the Shard, and have an upvote!
  4. "Squad Rann!" Augusta yelled as she ran back towards the Canton. "Make sure the refugee camps are empty! Pick up any stragglers you find!" The yellow-helmed sergeant nodded, and the battle squad of space marines abandoned the barricade, disappearing behind the corner. Lightning flashed, and rain began pouring down from the clouds as the group reached the outside walls of the Canton.
  5. "I hope you'll forgive me for doubting your story," Augusta shouted, watching from a distance as Titan burned his way through a horde of abominations. "I just find it unlikely that-" She cut off, tilting her head to the side, listening to an unseen voice. Her fingers tightened imperceptibly on the blood-stained hilt of her power mace as it went on. "Mutant!" she finally yelled, turning to Titan. "We need to get back to the Canton- now. And you," she said, motioning towards KoTiel, "bring your heretic monk friends there as well. Warmaster Drako just called for a general evacuation of the city."
  6. A space marine burst into the hall and dropped to his knee in front of Elsa, his armor too scorched to identify the heraldry. His left pauldron was on fire, but he didn't seem to notice. "My Queen!" he said, making a hasty bow. "Warmaster Drako requests your assistance in evacuating the citizens of the AlleyCity, before we cleanse the corruption from orbit. What do you say?"
  7. @Archer @Voidus
  8. Augusta laughed grimly, and for a second she met Titan's gaze, staring right back into his eyes. A lifetime of war reflected back at Titan from the black lenses. Planets burned, armies were slaughtered, and demons from the Warp tore and ripped their way through reality. An entire galaxy of carnage and war, echoing with the laughter of thirsting gods. "I highly doubt that," she said. And then the moment was gone, and the chaplain took a step back, drawing a small device from a pouch. She reverently placed it on the ground, muttering prayers and fiddling with the controls, and a holographic representation of the city sprung up in the air. The device sparked, then violently exploded, leaving the ground scorched black. Wisps of smoke trailed through the air above the remains of the machine.
  9. The sound of bolter fire and unholy shrieks died away, the daemons having been driven off by the combined efforts of KoTiel and the space marines. What was left of the battle squad set about repairing the makeshift barricade and clearing the street of rubble. The chaplain from earlier strode toward Titan, her armor covered in daemon ichor and blood. "We're happy to have you," she said, reaching out and shaking one of Titan's hands. "I'm Sister-Chaplain Augusta. What in the Emperor's name are you, anyway?"
  10. The fallen daemon wailed, its body warping out of existence in a flash of energy. The battle squad charged the wall of unholy monstrosities, shouting praises to the Emperor as they slammed into the daemons. Across the barricade, something leaped through the air, falling straight towards KoTiel. BACK AT THE CANTON A space marine in blue armor stopped in the middle of the hallway, noticing Max and Mara huddled in a corner. "Kids?" he said, sounding, for some reason, extremely nervous. "What on Earth are you doing here?" @I think I am here.
  11. The Canton bustled with space marines, rushing back and forth. Scouts rushed in with battlefield intelligence, and battle squads mobilized to the front lines. Apothecaries carried horribly mutilated bodies, still screaming, in through the entrance. Chaplains bellowed prayers to the Emperor over the crowd, their vox-amplified voices ringing throughout the corridors. Into this chaos stumbled KoTiel. A battle squad, their armor painted purple and gold, pushed past them into the storm outside. A chaplain, with black armor and wearing a golden helm shaped like a skull, came to a stop by KoTiel. "You!" she snarled, pointing at the kandra. "There's a daemonic horde trying to break into the western refugee camps. Get your alien butt over there and help us stop them!"
  12. "Forcibly occupied"? We did nothing of the- That's it, I'm done playing nice. Drako pushed himself off the wall, striding towards the small group. "The Black Crusade," he said, pointing directly at Storm, "is done with all of this crap. I'm tired of being made the villain. Our fight was against Solace, not you, or the Ghostbloods, or anyone here. And now my sons lie dead on your streets. "Do I sound bitter? I hope to Damnation that I do, because it's your fault." "DeVaan," he said, turning to go, "handle the negotiations. The Black Crusade is willing to comply with your wishes, but we're leaving this Emperor-forsaken hive." Drako stormed away, drawing Flametongue from his back and igniting it. He needed to go kill some heretics*. *Chaos space marines
  13. Drako hesitantly stepped outside into the growing storm. He was a space marine, created by the Emperor to protect mankind from the evils that lurked beyond the stars. He could bring an enemy advance to a grinding halt using a twig, some rope, and a well aimed bolter shot. His mind could calculate aerospace equations in seconds, leading a shuttle from ground to orbit. He could fortify a miserable swamp into a bastion of strength within days of arrival. He... he didn't have a solution to this problem. This... quiet pain was beyond his skills. So he didn't do anything. He just sat quietly by DeVaan, and looked out over the broken city with his friend.
  14. ...It's a little scary that you know the exact date of The Incident, when I don't. Also, I can't believe it was only 4 months ago. Time flies, doesn't it?
  15. An astartes slammed into Kane from behind, knocking him right into the path of a swinging warhammer. Other space marines piled onto Kane, forcing him onto the ground. "Stand down!" one of them yelled. "Resisting our grapple is pointless! We both have a +39 to Athletics checks, and advantage against targets smaller than us! Your chances of breaking out are less than 0.00298%!"
  16. A space marine in jet-black armor spun Mace around, picked him up by the shoulders, and headbutted him. "I got him!" yelled Kerith from 4 pages ago, throwing Mace into the wall. "Mace Klasten is here! Get him!" Every space marine in the hallway dropped what they were doing and ran towards Mace, dog-pilling on top of him in a pile of vibrant, battle-scarred colors.
