  1. Actually, Wayne being a time traveler would explain his behavior. Since magic seems to have a negative effect on a person's mind, using it to time travel it might cause insanity like we see in Wayne. Time travel would most likely cost a massive amount investiture, levels only seen in people and objects such and Rashek, Nightblood, Dalinar when summoning a perpendiculary, the Godking, or the City of Elantris. I can easily see that amount of magic warping a time travelers mind.
  2. I had only seen a few of those, but they are fairly similar to what I am working on. Despite obvious confirmation bias, these glyphs do seem to offer some support for my theory. @WeiryWriter, Thank you so much, I would not have thought to look up that page.
  3. Me and my family are into cosplay, specifically prop making and when we made Jezrien's Honorblade and I 3D printed the windrunner glyph, I noticed something odd: The center of the Glyph for the Windrunners looks like a stylized version of Jezrien's Honorblade from the end papers of Oathbringer. Once I noticed that, I started to think, so I started looking at the Radiant Glyphs, descriptions of the Honorblades we have seen (Jezrien's, Nale's, Taln's, let me know if there are others) and comparing the two. Then the pattern started to emerge. the centers of each of the glyphs looks like their associated Herald's Honorblade. Nale's looks like a stylized blade with two fullers, much like his Honorblade. The center of the stoneward glyph lookes like Taln's, which is described as being spike-like. I am working on mapping out potential blades from the other glyphs, but I wanted to share this while it was fresh on my mind.
  4. Yeah, that would be terrifying, but what I am saying is that despite the Highstorm having Honor's power being concentrated in the Highstorm, it is also Cultivation's Storm as well. While her perpendiculary is in the Horneater Peaks and she likes to hang out in the Nightwatcher's valley, she still puts a significant portion of her power into the Highstorm.
  5. Shallash has the abilities of a lightweaver, which means that compared to some like her dad, Jezrien, she is much closer to the Cognitive realm that you average Herald. Nale ont eh other hand is not terribly close to the Cognitive realm because his surges have greater usage in the Physical realm. It is very possible that the Heralds had a few early world hoppers in their ranks, most likely Shallash, the elsecaller lady, and the willshaper guy. For those Heralds that did not have any Cognitive experience, it is likely that Honor gave a metaphorical PowerPoint explaining where he and Rayse came from and just how powerful they each where.
  6. The Highstorm is Honor's perpendiculary, but it still has a good bit of Cultivation in it. Stormlight makes plants grow faster and produce more oxygen, it also enhances the immune systems and health of the people on Roshar. Which is why men like Dalinar can still fight, without Radiant powers, and not suffer too many health effects. It is also why you do not see a large amount of infectious disease on Roshar and why the common cold was considered a plague in the Pure Lake area.
  7. Given that the societal development of Alethikar is similar to that of medieval Europe, I think it is likely that boys where taught at least something of how to hold a spear. Also, given my experiences with my friends at that age, we would turn almost any long, reasonably thin item into a sword, spear, bow, or gun. Say what you will about cultures of violence, but given that Alethi society is built on war and conflict, I think it is likely that this is where Kaladin got his start with the spear.
  8. My problem with this is that there are Nine Unmade. Nine is Odium's number. Which means that Odium would have created the Nine Unmade before the Heralds left. We see this when Yelig-nar killed all of scribes. I think that Melishi was bonded to the Sibling and the Sibling sensed what he was planning to do to the Parsh. Sensing the war crime in progress, but helpless to stop it, the Sibling started to shut down Urithiru and became a driving factor in causing the rest of the Radiants to kill their spren. The Sibling had had enough of the fighting between the Radiants and the Parsh and so decided to allow Melishi to sever the Parsh's Identity and Connection while at the same time working to end the Radiants. The Sibling shut down both sides of the fight by removing their powers. I do not think it was able to estimate how damaging Melishi's actions would be, which is why once the act was completed, it had Nale and the Skybreakers stay around and kill any new Radiants to prevent the humans from acquiring Surgebinding once again. Given the lack of Shards compared to the amount of Radiants, I think it also commissioned the Shin, given their isolation, to store 90% or more of the Shardblades and Shardplate, along with most of the ancient fabrials as a second check on the humans. It thought the remaining Parsh would not seek out the Fused or Voidspren, so it felt safe in limiting the humans.
  9. It is mentioned that Kaladin looks like Jezrien, so it is possible that our now deceased Herald had children other than Ash and Kaladin is one of their decendents. Or Jezrien had a kid by accident while he was a crazy drunk and that kid was one of Kaladins ancestors.

    Aon modifiers

I checked that list and it has a bunch of Aons that do not have symbols and it does not have anything on modifiers. But thank you for the reference.

    Aon modifiers

Does anyone know what Aon modifiers look like? Such as the ones Raoden used to set the distance when he used Aondor to cross the ocean? Also, how do you connect Aons to get different effects. And is there a bigger list of Aons than the one in the 10th anniversary edition of Elantris? I am working on a connected Aon art project.
  12. Rashek was basically just playing problem wack-a-mole during his brief stint as Preservation. All of the rest of the time was spent playing catch up to try and negate the damage he did. Also, it is likely that due to the damage holding a Shard does to you, he was probably running on autopilot most of the time.
  13. I get the feeling that Vax is much more intentional about the magic. Sel is based around being devoted to something or from somewhere and seems to mostly happen randomly. Scadrial is a combination of genetics and trauma. Roshar is either mechanical or the sort of random attention of sentient magic. Taldain is heritage so far. Nalthis is inherent to natives. Which tells me that Vax is probably very intentional about acquiring magic, a if you must want it and seek it out to gain it. And if you seek it out, you will get it. Which also tells me there must be some sort of massive downside or limitation to the magic. Maybe it makes you become a savant quicker or kills you if you use it too much, or you get consumed/hunted by some eldritch horror if you use it. I do not know, but it seems a little fishy to me.
  14. Well, another possibility is Dalinar. He is technically bonded to the largest piece of Honor and Odium seemed to recognize him when he opened the perpendicularly. And given the amount of power invested by Honor and Cultivation in Roshar, I find it likely that this might be the Shard he is talking about.
  15. This is a very well thought out theory. I like it. It would make sense that the Spren might start trying to bond singers. My only problem is with the Sibling being Unmade. I doubt that the SIbling is an Unmade, my only reasoning for this is because how would have the Sibling have been corrupted. That level of Spren is easily more powerful than an Unmade? Also, why would the Radiants not change their stance on the Singers? It had been two thousand years without the Fused and they had much more contact with the Spren societies than the current Radiants have. I think the Spren would have told them about starting to bond Singers. Other than that, I think it is a good theory.
  16. Given that Vedel (correct me if I am wrong) is the herald of the edgedancers, she is probably hiding out and helping in small ways.
  17. You are on the right track. Here is how it works in my head. 1. starting over Elantris, an Aon is modified and drawn, most likely based around a modified Aon Rao and Aon Daa. 2. This continues until it reaches the upper atmosphere. Then the self replicating Aon takes effect and the Aon chain begins to move towards its destination. Al of this hinges on the cognitive realm. In the cognitive realm, the Aon starts pulling the Dor away from Elantris and extends the Identity interaction of the land and Investure, thus extending AonDor's usefulness. Once the Dor reaches a certain distance from the last Aon, that Aon activates the replication sequence and another AOn appears/is drawn/extended. That Aon also acts like a gate for the Dor and extends the investure-Identity matrix to allow the Dor to extend. The Aon that was already active powers the reaction until the Aon at the end of the chain can become fully established and activate. At that point, it powers the next Aon in the chain until that Aon can become active. it appears that the Aons act like a partial perpendicularly to draw power from the Cognitive to the Physical, that is what I am relying on for this to work. The Dor wants to escape and I would be giving it a massive hole in which to grow and extend into.
  18. Right, that is what I am saying. But the Dor is basically a storm in the cognitive realm made of the shards Devotion and Dominion. The Aon act like a gate that allow that storm to escape and do something. The Aon bridge would basically just be extending that storm into another region of the cognitive and physical realms. The population would eventually shape the cognitive realm so that the Aon bridge might not be necessary. The Aon bridge is basically a bigger version of what the Iri used to stay connected to Sel in Mistborn Secret History. That is why you would have to program a modified Aon to replicate its self until it got to the destination. That or you walk the route in the cognitive realm and pop back into the physical in a space suit to draw an Aon then go back to the cognitive until you get to the next Aon drawing point.
  19. The only ones that might and I am stressing the might are Ash and Taln. But not because Odium gets to them, but because Jasnah gives them the ax herself. She is definitely the "If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself" kind of gal. And I don't think Ivory would stop her.
  20. In a sense you are right, but what my Aon bridge would do is extend the Dor through the cognitive realm, with each Aon acting as both a gate for the power and an anchor to extend the selish cognitive realm. Notice that the Aon Rao in Elantris is a power amplifier, that means that it increases the power of the city. Even if the power deceases like gravity or light due to an inverse squared function, each Aon would have its own Dor field so to speak. Keep stacking these things and it acts like a coiled wire generating a magnetic field. The field is strong inside the coil of wire or stack of Aons but weak outside of it. That would prevent the Dor from damaging other planets but still allow for it to be used as a method of transportation. If you used the right modifiers, it could be self repairing and self replicating. Just activate the first Aon and set its destination and watch as it spreads through the cognitive realm and creates a path in the physical. This side steps the issue of it being tied to the cognitive realm because the Aonic portion of the cognitive realm would just extend with the Aon bridge.
  21. I have been doing some research into the mechanics of how Selish magics work in the Cosmere. From what I have seen, Aon Dor's power slopes off at a linear rate as opposed to a exponential rate. A series of stabilized Aon Raos drawn on top of each other, stretching into the atmosphere, should allow for the power to be stretched in such a way that a station could act as a sort of Mass Relay* and move ships across the galaxy. What would need to be done is have a second relay at the other end and have a series of Aons drawn in space that stretch the power of the Dor to the other relay. Granted, this is a level of engineering that I do not think is possible without Scadrian FTL to build it, but it is an interesting thought. For those of you who have watched Stargate Atlantis, think of it as the cosmere version of the McKay Gate bridge between Pegasus and the Milky Way. Those of you who do not know what that is, please look it up. As far as none space based travel, I do not see a reason that the Oathgate network could not be extended to other worlds. All you would need is a way to keep the spren active off world or replace them with that worlds equivalent, and a tap into the planets investure to power the Oathgate. This would be easier on some worlds and harder on others.
  22. Yes, I do not see a problem with this. In fact you see this happen when the armor in the visions is soulcast iron.
  23. I think it is probable that the song is a Listener tune. I had a theory in my mind after reading Rlain's view point chapter. He mentioned that the humans sometimes acted like they could hear the rhythms. I think that the closer a human is to the cognitive realm, the more they can hear the rhythms. As far as Kaladin's heritage, it would make sense that he is a uncle or close to an uncle of the kid (I cant spell his name). I can see it as a sort of way to bridge the Radiants and the Alethi even more. Jasnah would probably adopt the kid as her son and marry Kaladin so as to keep both of them in the family. He would not be directly related to Jasnah so she most likely would not have a problem with it. Being married to the leader of the Windrunners would get the government and Vorin church off her back and would prevent scandals from popping up in the future. Also it gives legitimacy to her rule by having the current heir to the throne as her son. Also, having a kid to take care of and acknowledging his heritage might be the final thing that pushes Kaladin to swear the 4th Oath. Kaladin is already changing his views on lighteyes to the point where he is willing to judge by the person and not their eye color. It is part of being a leader to accept people based on what they can do, not by how they look, we see that is bridge four and with Dalinar when he is building his elites.
  24. It is. My best guess is that Endowment want a way to defend his/her? world against beings like the Heralds, Fused/thunderclasts, and beings like Kelsier. Thus the Returned. The Returned are limited and recycle themselves in what I am guessing is an effort to given Endowment a Herald like army. Given their large amount of investure in the divine breath, it is likely that their main purpose is to store breath and use it to make and power weapons like Nightblood.
