I agree that it would be hard, but I was thinking more like you force your stored feruchemical investure out of the metal mind and into a sword or plate shape. it would take a huge amount, but I think it might be possible if you where a nicrosil compounder with a A-duraluminum spike. And even then it might be hard.

I was making an assumption based on Spren and the information that Seons could turn into shardblades. The only other splinters we have seen are the divine breaths of the Returned, so I assumed that Spren and Seons counted for most of the known splinters. I should have clarified that.

Connection is stored in Duraluminum, not Nicrosil. Nicrosil stores investure, not a connection to a Shard. Breath is a part of your spiritweb as a Nalthin, its just a part you can give away, which is why you become a drab. Become a drab is similar to what happened to the Singers when they got turned into Parshmen, only less drastic. And since you can store breath in a metalmind, you can store part of a spiritweb in a metalmind. Surges are not a connection to a shard, they are sort of like an allomantic metal, they are a gate that shapes and changes the investure into a useable form. If stormlight is chemical potential energy in a battery(gemstone) then a surge is the mechanical energy in the motor that the battery is powering. A Herald's connection to Honor through the Honorblade is like powering a dremel tool motor directly off the sun, the power(investure) changes directly from thermal energy to mechanical energy, no intermediate change to and from chemical/electrical energy needed. Investure it's self is power, as in joules of power. That power can take many forms depending on the world and "gate" that it uses. Nicrosil stores the power and the "gate" or the form the investure takes (as I understand it) thats why it can store a surge, Allomancy, or the divine breath of a Returned. It can also just store investure, which is how it would work if a person is only a nicrosil Ferring. To store a shardblade/shardplate, the investure is "keyed" to the blades form. Then the investure that makes up the blade is stored in the mind. When a person taps the metalmind in which the blade is stored, then the investure is pulled out in the form that it went in with. I think the process would work similar to how Identity prevents one feruchemist from tapping another feruchemist's metalmind. The investure is keyed to the Identity of the blade and thus is pulled out in the blades form when the metalmind is tapped. The same thing applies to storing plate. Seons can is given a stronger connection to the physical realm. The reason is because the Scadrians do not have spren and the summoning at will part is part of the Nahel bond mechanic native to Roshar. The bond between dead shardblade and shardbearer is a shallow mimicry of the Nahel bond between spren and Radiant. Which is why Adolin can hear Maya with out him saying any Oaths and Maya missing part of her spiritweb. The blades and plate I am talking about would be native to Scadrial, which is why the Nahel bond mechanic that allows for the summoning of Scadrian Shardblades would not work. The Nicrosil mind would allow for the blade to be stored and summoned with out having to replicate the psedo-Nahel bond mechanic that the dead shardblades operate under. The living shardblades are another kettle of fish that I am not sure can be replicated on Scardial because the mechanics of it (the spren attaching to your spiritweb and the mental connection that allows for the weapon to change) are levels of complexity greater than a dead shardblade. And yes, it would likely take a massive amount of investure to make such a weapon.

So here we go. Most people on the 17th Shard know that nicrosil can store investure, including investure from other worlds like breath, surges, and stormlight. We also know that spren are basically just sentient investure. Shardblades are living or dead spren, and Shardplate is some sort of investure/investure related phenomena connected to the ten Surges, stormlight, and/or spren. All of this means that Shardblades and Shardplate are just a form of investure, as evidenced by Radiant summoning/dismissing blades and plate in and out of midair. That most likely means that blades and plate can be stored in a metal mind. We also know that someone was looking for talking metal in Era 2 Scadrial. I think that they are planning on using that metal/scadrian equivalent to spren to make Scadrian Shards. The Set are interested in hemalurgy, not to make a mistborn, but to make a nicrosil compounder. We know that the eight "new" metals are rarer compared to the eight basic metals like Iron, Steel, Pewter, and Tin Etc. This goes for both Allomancy and Feruchemy, but especially for Feruchemy. They are trying to find the right combination so that they can make medallions or power something like south scadrian technology. Wax's Uncle and Sister are merely the result of the experiments to figure out hemalurgy so that they do not waste a good ferring. Nicrosil Ferring worth>Steel Misting worth. Given that most splinters assume the form of a sword when pushed into the physical realm enough, it is likely that an artificially created splinter would manifest as a Blade/Plate that could be stored in a metalmind and called on when needed. It would give the Set an huge advantage over a high powered Twinborn like Wax, any Mistborn that decide to come out of the woodwork or a person armed with Allomancer killing rifle rounds. The Blade/Plate would not be effected by most allomacy/feruchemy and most likely give a boost to any abilities inherent to the user. The user could also store the armor in the metalmind and tap it to summon the shards when they needed them. The Bands of Mourning may have been Kelsier's early attempt at making such a weapon. I suspect that it would required a hack we have not seen yet to shape the investure into a blade/plate, which would most likely be similar to the hack that allows Allomantic Bronze to be used on non-Scadrain investures.

The thing is, the spren might not care about a dynasty of Kholins. They are attracted to people who have the potential to hold the Oaths particular to the spren they are bonding. With the Kholins, as a rule, being honorable and capable of large amount of personal growth, it is no small wonder that they attract spren. Also, they surround themselves with people who attract spren, like Bridge 4 and Shallan's little band of (former...sort of) criminals.

Yikes, I never noticed that. I would say that does have a Oath-like quality to it. I lean away from the Bondmsmiths unless it is somehow related to Urithiru and the Sibling, but we do not have the proper knowledge to make a decision on that matter. The Elsecallers make sense given that Navani is planner and a scholar, something that the Inkspren are attracted to. In short, Yes, I think you are on to something.

Also remember that a Shardblade is a massive incline plane being swung by a guy in magical power armor. Invested being/object/force field aside, having a six foot long blade hitting your body, even if it is not super naturally sharp, will cause a massive amount of damage. And by massive amount of damage, I mean that unless you are wearing power armor or have a storming dense body, or can heal, you will be deader than an aluminum gnat in a room full of angry, hungry, heavily armed koloss.

It might be possible that lower Oath Radiants could only access one of their orders surges.

I am wondering, what MBTI personality types would correlate with each mistings and radiants. There are 16 types of mistings and ferrings and 16 personalities from the test. I also want to know which personalities would match up the most with each order of Knights Radiant.

Given that this is a Sanderson series, I expect a lot of twists. As far as Kaladin getting hitched, well, that will be interesting. I think the most likely person is either Jasnah or a character that will be introduced in the next book. Despite her meddling, Syl is right, Kaladin needs someone. But not for the reasons you might think. He is a high ranking Lighteyes with land holdings, he also has spent time around Shallan, who is now a Kholin. He also works with women in Bridge Four. In order to not have someone like Ialai Sadeas use that as a weapon, he needs to get married soon. He is not a political person, which means he needs someone political to balance out his shortcomings in that area. Also remember that for all his maturity, he is a twenty one year old man, which means rash decision making and potentially dangerous actions.

Jasnah is very closed off but is not as emotionally mature as she appears to be. Kaladin is more emotionally mature than his stated age. With that is mind, they are much closer in emotional age than people think.

I like the idea of Jasnah and Kaladin together because they balance each other out. Kaladin would give Jasnah a more empathetic point of view, and Jasnah would keep Kaladin from becoming to emotional over everything. I also support this because Kaladin is related to Jasnah's nephew through Elhokar's late wife. I can see the two of them starting to coparent the kid and then marrying not for love but to give the kid a stable home and family. When Kaladin is off fighting, Jasnah can care for the kid and when Kaladin is in town, the kid gets to see Uncle Kal and Aunt Jass bicker over whether he learns the sword or the spear first. Elhokar did command Kaladin to protect his child, which means that Kaladin most likely will play a large roll in the kid's life. Jasnah and Navani are his closest living relatives, followed by Kaladin and Dalinar, then Adolin, Renarian and Shallan (by marriage). As people have said before, Alethi society (or at least what is left of it) will not be happy with their atheist, shardblade wielding, unmarried queen. Jasnah may not enjoy dealing with the ardents, but they still have massive sway over public opinion. She will likely get married to someone just to prevent the ardentia from turning against the Kholin family any more than they already have. Who better than the head of the Windrunners, a shardbearer with land, good standing, and who is not an atheist, and he does not know how to read.

I get the feeling that Seons may be one of the main ways to get Selish investure offworld. They are not bound to the land, as evidenced by the Wyrn having a Seon and a Skaze talking to Hoid after he left the Shardpool. I believe that it is likely that the Shardblade form of a Seon/Skaze would act similar to an Honorblade and give the user access to Selish magic off world by channeling the Dor.

I think it is more than that. While we see the Bondsmith currently leading the Radiants, I think it was more often the Windrunner's job to run the Radiants. They are the radiants of leadership after all. I think the Bondsmith was more like the mouth piece of the god spren and also the main diplomat of the radiants, the person who could bring people together and prevent the dissolution of the radiants, which I think is one of the reasons the Radiants fell apart. Gravitation: some unlucky truthwatcher goes splat next to the Oathgate. The truthwatcher spends a week in recovery, dealing with his new found fear of not missing the ground. Division: a building is turned to powder in the middle of a highstorm. 300 people die. That is the difference. Sure, gravitation is dangerous, but it has a much safer learning curve and is less likely to destroy things. Division is very dangerous. Giving division to the wrong recruit would be like giving an angry chimp a bucket of hand grenades with the pins pulled. Which is distinctly more dangerous less fun than a barrel of monkeys or a room filled with hungry whitespines.

Not completely true, Vasher/Zahel mentioned at the end of warbreaker that Vivianna/Azure could do far more than just change the hair. As we see in Oathbringer, she is able to completely change her appearance to look Alethi. It might be harder for her to change than a Returned, but she still has a massive amount of control of her physical form.
