  1. That is a good point. Or he could be using a different hack similar to the 17th Shards aging hack.
  2. Also, the Nobles and the Skaa did not have great nutrition, even with Rashek's modifications. In addition to that, the Skaa-Noble interbreeding meant that many of the people, Nobles included, where closer to Skaa height. Roshar has both lower gravity and Stormlight nourishes all life, meaning that Kaladin is probably twice or close to twice the height of Vin. The Era 1 Scadrians where mostly Caucasian looking and since there are no Caucasian races on Roshar, that would make him stand out to the Alethi who look Indian.
  3. I was thinking on shear amount of available investure. True, but we have not yet seen the ones above, only a few devices and mentions. Thus I cannot quantify how powerful they are and did not add them to the list.
  4. Order of most powerful to least powerful: Harmony Odium, Cultivation, all the other living shards. Hoid. Dragons Ascended beings like Rashek and Dalinar Kelsier and the Heralds Unmade Super spren like the Stormfather Returned/upper level Awakeners Mistborn and Full Feruchemist and Elantrians Knights Radiant and Compounders Hemalurgic constructs like Inquisitors Other Twinborn Sandmasters Mistings and Ferrings Kandra Lower level Awakeners Other Selish magic users Soulcasters Shades/Aviars
  5. I think you might be on to something. Why would the Returned be making their own shardblades and why did that Shardblade happen to become the cosmere equivalent of the Deathstar? I agree with all of your other points except one, the Returned are a rather recent development on Nalthis. Vo, the first returned was less than a thousand years before Warbreaker, which is most likely with in 300 years of Stormlight. I think that the person might be another agent of Endowment and they made the Returned at create items like Nightblood to deal with things like the Fused and Thunderclasts.
  6. The essences are a little bit of a problem, but I have a feeling that they are tied to how the Rosharians view the gems, matter, physical laws of the cognitive and physical realms interacting. On a different note, ever notice how heliodore and emerald are of similar compositions and both soulcast solid biological matter? I think that the mechanics behind polestones, their colors, and their chemical composition might be a little bit deeper than Brandon is letting on.
  7. Given that the oaths seem to cause an increasing ability to use less stormlight to power the same effect, I think that a graph would look logarithmic in nature. Also, the closeness of the radiant to the ideals and the spren decrease the amount of wasted investure when using stormlight. think it is sort of like gradually shifting from using aluminum as a conductor to using copper to using a superconductor to transmit the power.
  8. That's basically what I am saying. My method would be very difficult, and requires a level of science that has yet to be discovered anywhere but Scadrial and maybe Sel. It also would require a level of control down to the atomic level. But, I thought it was an interesting thought exercise. At the very least, a person could make the base materials for synthetic gems.
  9. I think that I have just figured out a way to soulcast things into pole stones, thus solving the issue with greatshell extinction. most gemstones are a base material combined with different impurities that give the material a certain color. Rubies and sapphires are an example of this. Corundum is a crystalline material that in its pure form, is colorless. Rubies are created by adding small amounts of chromium and sapphires are created by adding iron, titanium, or copper. First the soulcaster would need to soulcast something into pure corundum, then they would need to soulcast a certain portion of the atoms into what ever element is needed to create the color they want. Now there is a lot more both in the chemistry and the realmic theory behind this (they do create a few problems) but I think this is a viable way to address the limited amount of polestones available.
  10. Oops, Thanks for the nitpick, I must have mixed that up in my head.
  11. I look at the connection as more with Honor's Investure and not Honor himself. Just as Aon Dor uses Dominion and Devotions investure for power, so does the Herald's use Honor's Investure. The status of the shardholder does not matter, only the fact that their investure is still laying around.
  12. My reasoning behind the naming of Kalad's phantoms is the Vasher took the name of Kalad because it was an in joke because he can live basically forever. Kalad, the eternal returned, made Kalad's phantoms, Eternal Phantoms/Guardians of T'Telir. Vasher realized that Stormlight could make him live basically forever and that is why he took the name Kalad.
  13. I have been rereading Oathbringer and I am starting to notice a few connections between the various Moash parts that may relate to Odium's plans. First, the Fused are slowly going crazy because they have been reborn so many times. Also, it seems that the Fused do not have as fine of control over their surges as the corresponding Radiant orders. The Fused are also becoming a liability because they are being reborn at what seems like a greater rate than previous Desolations. Which means that Odium needs a replacement. Which leads us to Moash. First, the Fused are collecting Shardblades and Shardplate. Secondly, Moash kills Jezrien with a dagger that has a gem in the pommel and the wounds bleeds black smoke(similar to nightblood), we also know that the blade is functionally similar to hemalurgy. The gem in the pommel also lights up after Jezrien dies. So the blade is stealing something and storing it in the gem. Also, Odium only has nine orders of Fused and seems to be missing one for the Surge of Adhesion, which is a primarily Honor based Surge. Given that the Heralds have a direct connection to Honor through themselves which is channeled through the Honorblades, I think Odium might be trying to gain the ability for his forces to use Adhesion. Not in the Windrunner sort of way, but more like a Bondsmith. If he uses the dagger to give Moash the direct connection to Honor so that he can use the Honorblade with levels of power magnitudes larger than a Knights Radiant. Moash would then be able to act as basically a dark Bondsmith and unite Odium's forces. Which leads us to my next point: Odium wants and needs to replace the Fused. I think he wants to do this by making Voidbinding Radiants. I think the direct connection to Honor might be able to heal the shardblades long enough for Odium to corrupt the spren and then bond them to Singers or Humans. Which would give the Void Radiants less checks on their power than a Knights Radiant and more Surges and more control of said Surges than a Fused. Sure, Odium's power might burn through them quicker, but he can always get more people to bond. They could also be used to discredit Dalinar's Radiants through false flag attacks on allies. And with Moash's connection to Honor's investure, the Void Radiants could be powered without having to rely on stored investure. It would also fit with the whole Odium is the new Vorin god theory that has been floating around.
  14. I think this is because they are very close to the cognitive realm. Also, both of them have had experiences with Unmade.
  15. I am in the middle of rereading Oathbringer and I noticed that in Nazh's notes, the Rosharian glyph pair Kalad means eternal. And given that at least some of the Five Scholars went to Roshar, I think it is likely that Vasher named Kalad's Phantoms after that. Eternal Phantoms, Eternal guardians of T'Telir. It is one page 519 of the hard back copy I have.
  16. Cremling is basically the Rosharian version of the word "bug". Chiri-Chiri is to a Cremling as a dragon is to a lizard. Still an animal, but magnitudes of difference in what they can do.
  17. I suspect that the original truthwatcher's abilities acted like the Diagram, a highly accurate, math based prediction. It might not always have worked, but most of the time it did.
  18. The Returned are a CS stapled back to their body with a splinter. The splinter is just keeping their "soul" from going into the beyond, kind of like what happened to Kelsier is Secret History. Their children are more invested and closer to the cognitive realm meaning that they can shift their personal cognitive filter easier than a regular human. They can manipulate the investure coming from the Spiritual Realm to the Physical through the Cognitive Easier, thus giving them more powers and abilities than a regular human.
  19. What happens when you start introducing things like World of Warcraft and League of Legends to Roshar?
  20. This is a good theory but I highly doubt this will happen. Odium has something limiting him in the Rosharian system, and he still needs the Fused to do his dirty work.
  21. That is awesome. And yes, as a scientist, I have done very similar things to this. "There's no way this high voltage, fast discharge capacitor is charged." "Look, a storm is rolling in off the ocean, lets stand outside and watch it!" "Huh, that snake/lizard/venomous bug/feral cat looks dead. Here, someone hand me a stick." Ah, the Darwin award worthy things homeschoolers do.
  22. Shame spren would die off in a matter of days once exposed to the internet.
  23. I wrote this one in a philosophy class, I also wrote it in glyphs but I am working on making it look nice. Silent screaming, all consuming, mind frustrating, frustrating mind, consuming all, screaming silent.
  24. Now that Jasnah is queen, I have my doubts that she would show mercy if the Ardents decided to betray her family. She got pretty torn up about Shallan when Shallan was just her student. I would hate to see what would happen if the Ardentia went after her. She is very much like her mother in that she is loyal to her clan. Not to mention that she is very utilitarian in her philosophy. Remember what happened last time an Ardent offended the royal family? It was not good. With Jasnah on the throne, I would anticipate a full blown purge of the Ardentia if they went after any of the Kholin clan.
  25. I would want to see Adhesion used in combat as a force push like set of moves. It is the Surge of Pressure and Vacuum so it is conceivable that a user of Adhesion could use it to create massive pressure waves to knock things over. They could also use it to knock out air breathing opponents by creating low pressure areas around their heads. Or vacuum pack/freeze dry your enemies by placing them in an outer space like environment for a few minutes.
