  1. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Roshar made of granite? as in the base stone underneath the crem build up? If it is granite, that would explain the color variation. Also, granite has large crystals in it that I think might correspond to a few of the radiant gems. That would allow it to transmit stormlight and basically make anything built out of it a giant fabrial.
  2. Sezth accidentally sets Nightblood down next to Shallan's brothers. Shallan problem solved.
  3. Thaidakar, I want him to be Kelsier so bad.
  4. Shallan is a troubled character, that much is certain. That has not stopped me from have an intense dislike for her. She come off as a stereotypical fangirl or comic relief in a sitcom. She has had a few redeeming moments, but those are few and far between. As far as characters that I dislike from across the fictional spectrum, she is right up there with the cast of Teen Titans Go, Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Jar Jar Binks. A character that I do like is Jasnah Kohlin, every scene she is present is well written and fairly good, even when Shallan is present. Also, she threatened Hoid with a Shardblade.
  5. Don't you mean impalement? Having just because you have shardplate does not excuse you from having to clean out the airducts. The Truthwatchers have holed up in there again and the Windrunners are getting tire of having to try and remove them.
  6. Veil being attracted to Kaladin is a huge problem that will most likely come back to haunt Mr. and Mrs. Kohlin. Veil is arguably the strongest of Shallan's facets and seems to be growing stronger. That little scene where they integrated, not even close, they just had a common goal. It would not surprise me if Veil takes over in book four or five after something traumatic happens. The traumatic part is most likely either going to be a. Kaladin getting destroyed by an Unmade/Fused/Shardblast from Odium/running out of stormlight and becoming a meat pancake on the promenade, or b. Adolin falling in battle to something similar or being executed for killing Sadeas. I am sorry to come to these conclusions, but it seems like a Sanderson thing to do, kill off a powerful or well liked character to further the story. Examples being: Kelsier (Yes, I know he is not really dead), Elend and Vin, and Lightsong.
  7. The Honor Spren. Outside of the Highstorm and the Stormfather, they are the next biggest concentration of Honor's power that we see in the books. I do not think that it is a coincidence that the Windrunners, who are bonded to honor spren, are reformed around and relating to Dalinar and his actions. We have seen that more and more honor spren are hanging out around Bridge Four and now Bridge Thirteen. It would not surprise me if other bridges, people, and regular units start becoming squires as more Third Oath and above Windrunners form. All of that investure keyed to Honor in one area is bound to do something.
  8. As far as perfect gems go, it is possible to create gem that are single crystals. It is difficult in some cases, but I think using certain methods found here on earth and easily duplicated on Roshar would be the way to go. Maybe that is one of the things the scadrians introduce, as they are at about the right stage of development to start experimenting with that technology. The perfect gems would give the stickyness needed to operate an awakened object, as mentioned above, sewing them into things or using them as a gem heart is probably the way to go.
  9. This....mindblowing. We know, from Secret History, that Kelsier is aware of other worlds. It would make sense that he goes to Roshar to check it out and seek new information. It also makes sense that the Ghostbloods are his crew on that planet, and possibly beyond. Also, he might not be wearing the eyespike all the time. Kelsier is a guy who can go from being an attention hog to ghosting in a very short amount of time. He is also known for using misdirection to confuse his opponents. Given that it is likely that he has both allomantic and feruchemical powers after his return to the physical realm as evidenced by his creation of the Bands of Mourning, and that he seems to have gained a detailed knowledge of hemalurgy, he might have stolen a few other powers along the way to help his blend in. Which would explain why stories of a tall blond man with scars and spike through his eye have not shown up on Roshar. The Ghostbloods seem to fit his MO pretty well, they work in the shadows, have fairly vast resources, and have eyes everywhere. Not to mention that recruiting teenagers to act as spies also fits Kelsier's MO, i.e. Vin, Spook, Shallan, Shallan's brother. The South Scadrian is also evidence, as mentioned above, because she would most likely have unwavering loyalty to the man who saved her people. That would make her an excellent right hand woman to run things on Roshar when Kelsier has other things to deal with. I think that Kelsier has started the Ghostbloods because he is looking at the bigger picture and sees that Odium is a threat, but also there are other shards and beings of power out there that might be a threat. The Ghostbloods having a base in the war camps, but not in a main war camp with large amounts of security, also points to Kelsier. Notice that it mirrors Kelsiers base outside of Luthadel. Close enough to have an impact but far enough away to not be noticed.
  10. To: All Radiants and military personel From: Logistics All Radiants with the gravitation surge and/or gravitation fabrials, refrain from using reverse lashings outside the training grounds. From now on, Lopen of Bridge Four is to be checked when leaving the provisions room. Soulcasting radiants are not allowed to soulcast organs, its creepy. Attention all shardbearers, keep all shardblades, living or dead, unsummoned outside of the training grounds.
  11. Also remember that Dalinar is a pragmatist and the Bondsmith, yes Sezth killed his brother, but he needs as many Radiants as he can get his hands on. The fact that Sezth has one of the few weapons that might be able to put a permanent end to the Fuzed problem is an added bonus. Also, Dalinar has sworn an oath to unite men, that oath is more important than his personal demons.
  12. When you start wondering where allomantic steel is on the iron carbon phase diagram.
  13. the stonewardens would get rid of the lawn and replace it with cremstone. That way they can use it to fight off the voidbringers.
  14. Everyone in the army, most of the world leaders, and probably most of Dalinar's family know about his past. It was only in his mind that he could not remember. They may not know all the details, but they definitely that the Blackthorn was more than a little blood thirsty. We can see this when the various delegations are very hesitant to let Dalinar and the Alethi into their cities. Letting the most war-like country on Roshar land hundreds of troops who can now fly and manifest WMD's would cause any leader to freak. Having that army led by the most fearsome warrior since the Heralds, who is known for victories that devastate his opponents, is like asking Wayne to guard a large stash of liquor. There will be trouble. The fact that the Thaylens let him into the city is amazing. By the way, great thinking and welcome to the shard.
  15. Wayne and children probably should not mix, he is the bad uncle who would encourage a young misting or ferring to do something destructive with their powers. ie: pewter as you said, steel or iron in both systems could be very bad. Also, the kid might be one of the first mistborn in a generation. Wax got a massive dose of basically raw investure in BOM and as we all know, that tends to effects on the body. It would not surprise me if a child of Wax and Steris is a full Feruchemist or a Mistborn. Which would then have to be tutored by our favorite psycho: Kelsier.
  16. when you see jewelry and start thinking they are metalminds. Especially when it is someone with a ton of piercings.
  17. Personally, having read most of the Cosmere, Brandon does have a slight problem with romance. But that mostly comes from the SLA love triangle he has going on. Warbreaker was basically two preteens on their first crush, a very weird set up but basically that. Wax and Steris, I did not pay much attention too at first, I was more focused on Wayne eating things and pretending to be Marsh. But going back, I think it is not well written but makes sense. Wax is 40 something year old man who has lost his first wife twice, both times being directly responsible for her death. Steris is a 20 something who can tell that Wax does not exactly want the relationship and has her own issues. Granted, they work out in the end, but the awkwardness is understandable. Dalinar and Navani is actually one of the best I have seen in the Cosmere. And then there is Adolin, Shallan, and Kaladin. Those three are a whole mess that requires the careful application of the GRR Martin principle. I think Shallan is way crazier than is currently known. Kaladin is basically a poor young Dalinar with a chip on his shoulder. Adolin is the healthiest of the three, which is probably the reason that he has not bonded a spren yet. Short aside: Why Spren would choose to willingly bond people with severe mental problems is beyond me. If Brandon is planning to have Shallan stay in a relationship, either Kaladin need to find someone or die, or we need to kill the funny but loveable sidekick: Adolin. Which could actually be a great set up for the fifth book as a motivator to get the rest of the Radiants to swear their fifth Oaths and put down Odium. A third option is that Shallan and Adolin work out their issues and Kaladin and Jasnah end up at the alter. which would make them all one big happy, shardblade wielding, oath swearing, planet ruling, family.
  18. When you see a grey sheet at the thrift store and think "mistcloak" or your brother attacks you with a life sized foam shardblade.
  19. Greetings. May you journeys here be enlightening.
  20. Right, because the power cannot be retrieved once it is used up by the returned, that is why I think they are end negative. It is similar to how the power is lost in Hemalurgy. The way that investure thermodynamics seems to work is that the investure returns to the shard from which it originates. It is the amount of power the effect releases to the non-shard user of the magic that determines if it is end positive, neutral, or negative. No matter what, the power always returns to the shard eventually. Normal Bio-chroma is end neutral, because with an awakened object, the power you put in is the power you get out. But with a Returned, you get less power out than you put in.
  21. I think that I have found a new, end negative investure manifestation: The Returned. My reasoning is this: The Returned have to have a breath a week or they die after consuming their divine breath. Unless they get more than one breath per week or buy a bunch of breaths, they cannot use their breaths for awakening. Also the breaths are used up/decay once in the Returned, similar to hemalurgic decay. I think that this is a end negative system because you end up with less investure than you started with. Any thoughts?
  22. Just a pointer: The coppermind has a ton of articles that will give everything from the details of Rosharian food to the inner workings of Dor to Wax's back story. It can help when writing new theories and content. The art is also amazing.
  23. Right, but most of the other shards have invested in a planet, which means they are less powerful. The only one that could even come close to the level of power that Odium has at his disposal is Harmony, and he is basically a child compared to Odium in terms of experience. It's the whole Vin vs. Elend situation.
  24. The constellations themselves might not matter, that is true. But the color of the stars matters. Also, every piece of art we have seen so far has had some sort of significance. But why does Odium want to be the most powerful? He is the Shard of hate, not strength or Dominion
  25. When one of your weird cousins is doing an excellent but unintentional impression of a Hoed.
