  1. We do know that there are "god" surges (like a "god" metal in the metallic arts) that we have not seen yet. Unity could be the "god" surge tied to Honor.
  2. What would happen if a Radiant became a Pathian and used one of the hemalurgic earrings to communicate with Harmony? How would their spren react? Would it damage the Nahel bond?
  3. I have been rereading the SLA and a few things have stood out to me. One of which is when Jasnah's hand sinks into the rock she soulcasts into smoke in front of Shallan and King T. That scene looks very similar to the stamps used in Forgery that sink into the material being forged. Soulcasting is basically feeding an object investure and getting it to change permanently. Forging is basically the same thing only it takes less investure and the effect is less permanent and takes a far longer time to prepare for. My question(s) are this: Is soulcasting as functionally similar to forging as I think it is? And: Could this link be exploited to hack either of the magic systems using the other system, if so, how?
  4. That would crack me up. I want to see a slice of life on Silverlight and have a bunch of the researchers there discussing stuff in various groups. Or have a meeting of the different research teams assigned to each world.
  5. So we know that all Radiant spren are a combination of Honor and Cultivation. Even spren like the Stormfather and the Nightwatcher have both because they form bonds and live on the planet. I think the Unity might be a shard that is mostly Honor, but with a large dose of Cultivation. Dalinar is bonded to the largest piece of Honor in existence and has been touched by Cultivation herself, that seems to me to point to Unity being a reforming of Honor but with a Cultivation flavored swirl on top, allowing the intent to change but the goals to remain similar. Having Unity on the playing field allows Cultivation to have a buffer against Odium's Power. The reason that Odium was screaming "I killed you" was because Unity is mostly Honor and thus looks like Honor to Odium.
  6. Does any one know which surges use more stormlight and which ones use less? Is an Elsecaller more efficient than a Windrunner or does a Dustbringer use more stormlight than a Lightweaver? How does each surges use of stormlight compare between members of different orders of the same oath level? Does a 3rd Oath Windrunner need more Stormlight than a 3rd Oath Edgedancer?
  7. Scadrian ship will probably be the closest we see to what we think of as a spaceship, followed sort of by Roshar. Scadrian ships will most likely be based on south scadrian design and will do powered by the metallic arts. Rosharian ships will most likely be partially in the cognitive realm, with sensors that drop to the physical or the ability to use shademar as a sort of hyperspace. I can totally see them using massive, lab grown gem stones to contain spren to control and power the ship. They will most likely base a lot of the ship off of Urithuru's fabrials. Navani's flying ship designs are probably the wright brothers version of the Rosharian space ships. I do not see the Selish getting off world because of the Dor, gravity, and the localizing effect of the Dor. Nor do I see any one from Taldain getting off world using the physical realm because they are a binary system. Nalthis will most likely be using either flying carpets or an awakened space elevator.
  8. I made some chouta by mixing a homemade falafel mix with ground beef, fried flat bread, and a gravy made from the left over beef fat. It was not bad. but i need to use none fried bread, more spices, and a higher fat meat.
  9. Well. Nightblood does leak black smoke like the Pits of Hathsen.
  10. Great! I did not know that! I will message him.
  11. I am in the process of making a cosmere cookbook for my self and the various cosmere fans I know. But I am running into a problem, outside of Roshar, little is know about the cuisine of the cosmere. I really need help on the food from Nalthis, Scadrial, and Threnody. I will post the PDF of the cookbook as soon as I have tried the various recipes suggested. Does anyone have any recipes they want to share any suggestions on cosmere cuisine?
  12. I will add to this conversation. As we see in Oathbringer, Kholinar has a fairly large population, same with other cities that we see later in the book and in Edgedancer. Given that they have found Urithuru, (sorry if that is misspelled) I think fabrial tech will increase exponentially. Also, things like trains might not be able to exist on Roshar because of the highstorms. The tracks would get destroyed. Also, the highstorms would limit the population growth, especially on the stormward side of Roshar because any unprotected settlements would be destroyed in short order unless a soulcaster or radiant was available to create shelter. As mentioned earlier in this thread, phones might be invented soon because of the spanreed, that or holographic calling based on lightweaving and spanreed like connections. The medieval analogy does not hold up well because the Rosharians are developing industrial farming, just look at Sebrial and his pig farms. Also, I think the reason gun powder has not been invented is because they lack sulfur and sodium nitrate. That is because those are two substances that need to be mined, which is something that is hard on Roshar because of the highstorms. That means that both of those materials would need to be soulcast. But what might be easier is to give a Scadrian a soulcaster tuned to the proper essences and have them make the explosives. All in all, I would say that Roshar is at about a 18th to 9th century level of development, with late middle ages in some areas only.
  13. It will most likely be Shallan. I used to really dislike her, but she is growing on me as I reread the books. That being said, she will most likely fall and start serving Odium.
  14. I think that it is likely that either Adolin or Shallan will die. Kaladin will most likely survive until the end and either become a great leader (king) or die in battle. Dalinar, he will survive and most likely ascend to take up Honor before the end of the story. Kind of similar to Sazed, but in book 4 so that he can battle Odium on his home turf. Renarin is more important than we give him credit for, and I think that he will take over as highprince of the Kohlin princedom. Jasnah is not going any where, she is already very hard to kill based on her ability to soulcast and jump in to shademar. She is also in communication with many types of spren. That means that killing her is even harder than killing someone like Taln.
  15. Do we have a list of Dawncities? And do we have a list of their locations, I think there might be a physical pattern to them corresponding to the various surges or orders of radiants.
  16. But remember, Oaths hold a power in the spiritual realm and we know Shards have investure beyond their shard worlds. So I think that it is possible that Honor may have been the most powerful at some point in time.
  17. I think the Rhythms are most likely based on Connection. We have seen connection used to translate languages but I think it goes way, way beyond that. Reaching into the spiritual realm, Connection is the manifestation of the bonds/connections between people, objects, and the universe. Emotional Allomancy uses it to manipulate people's emotions. Singers use the mutual connection between individuals of that species to hear the rhythms. Shards use it to talk to people. I get the distinct feeling that it(the use of connection) has to do with the spiritual DNA of the person. If you where to gaze into the Spiritual realm, I think connection would look like a web with nodes on each and every item/person/sentient weapon in the cosmere. Stick is connected to Vasher is connected to Wax's gun is connected to Silence's way stop is connected to the moon scepter is connected to Taldain is connected to the Aviar.
  18. Cloak: Climb for me Shoelaces: tie your self when held together Dufflebag: Hold as much as I require Tourniquet: Tighten when placed near wound
  19. Just found this, this is awesome! Could you send me a copy as well?
  20. I had not thought of that before. It would make sense that off world fabrials would be stored away from people who would use them as weapons. Maybe that is one of the reasons that the Knights Radiant commited spren suicide. Someone found a terraforming device and used it to create the shattered plains in a effort to eliminate the Singers. However, it basically destroyed one of the Silver Kingdoms and caused huge amount of civilian deaths. That might cause the Radiants to break their Oaths/ go into hiding to prevent the fabrials from being used again. Maybe the Elsecallers and Lightweavers created the stone spikes and weirdness around Aimia to help the Aimians hide the WMDs.
  21. It may because Taln is the only Herald that actually cared by the final desolation. It seems to me that by the time of the breaking of the Oathpact, most of the Heralds were tired of being tortured and breaking, the only one that wanted to continue was Taln. He wanted to hang on because he knew that humanity needed to heal from the damage of the desolations. It would also appear that the transition from human to Herald seems to expand the mind of the person in question, much like the Lord Ruler in Mistborn. That may be why they are able to hold up to torture more. Sorry, this was posted to the wrong thread. how do I move this to the Planned last Desolation thread?
  22. Well, there is that passage in WoK that states that a person grabbed a dawnshard and that it could bind any creature, voidish or mortal. That leads me to believe that it is somesort of fabrial or fabrial like device that is enormously powerful. The comment about it being able to bind any creature most likely means it is made out of or contains both aluminum and a perfect gem. I think that the chain in the spren city may have been a component of a dawnshard and the kings drop is another component. This actually ties back to my theory that the metal pieces of the fabrials on Roshar transmit the investure/effect while the gems help store the investure/effect.
  23. Currently, we know that most orders, if not all of them receive their blades at the third oath and their plate at the 4th. The main reason for this seems that they are trying to prevent the radiant from damaging the spren like Kaladin did to Syl. But then I started thinking about the stonewards. Their attributes are resolve, strength and dependability. I think that means that they are less likely to kill their spren. I think it is also likely that they get their plate and blade at earlier oaths than the other orders. That might be their resonance.
  24. Dalinar....That name and character is someone I would name a kid after. Same with Kelsier.
  25. I really dislike Elantris as a book even though I love the Selish magic systems and their applications. I have tried reading the first mistborn trilogy, it is a good book series but it reads like Downton Abbey got a helping of Game of Thrones Violence, Tom Clancy politics and tame YA fiction romance. I have very few problems with the second mistborn trilogy, mainly because Wax and Wayne seem more like real people and less like a pair of sociopaths trying to take down the government and then end up dead or married to the king. I think that Steris needs to be fleshed out as a character, but other than that, the characters are pretty good. Wax seems like a real person, he has "killed" his first wife twice, and was actually effected by that and it keeps effecting him through out the books. Wayne is insane and an alcoholic to deal with his guilt over killing. Marasi has an inferiority complex and tries to be best at everything to make up for the fact that her power is mostly useless at the present time and she is the illegitimate daughter that no one wants. Warbreaker is actually pretty good. Susebron and Siri are basically middle schooler sweethearts who are in the middle of a political power play. Seriously, once you realize what is going on and their first dates are basically learning to read, it is almost Hallmark levels of sappy. And Vasher is basically Batman, which is awesome. Stormlight Archive is pretty good, I think we will start seeing the repercussions of Dalinar's actions in the next book. Yes, Dalinar is Op right now, bu I think that will be explained in the next book or negated somehow. Kaladin has some major depression and personality issues that need some therapy. But then there is Shallan..... I really dislike Shallan, I think that she is going to betray everyone and kill Adolin. Someone needs to sic Churi-churi on her then soulcast her into air or a Radiant shaped pile of jam.
