maybe Navani will attempt to build HAL 9000 and fly to Brazie?
-
This chapter got me interested in Mosh again, and what's up with his new Fused title and what does it mean? He Who Quiets Jezrien??? Which unknown 11th herald did the He Who Quiets kill during the last desolation and what sexy herald power did that honorblade possess? this raises many questions

I'm curious if Mrazie knows about Shallan's 'The Three'. Because if he doesn't know about Viel etc, I don't see why he would just assume Shallan would assassinate Ialai.
-
Dammit, we're down to one chapter/week Also RIP Shallan, long live Veil, the Main personality.
-
I just wanna say how much I have come to love the Shallan chapters in Oathbringer, they are really just so much fun. Such interesting character development is going on that I was happy today when the Kaladin chapter was so short, because that must mean more of the huge wall of text on my page must belong to the upcoming Shallan chapter. Trading potential new info on the voidbringers for a chapter mostly containing inner monologue from Shallan is not something I thought I would have done before starting Oathbringer. Not so anymore; broken Shallan, here weee GO! Choo Choo!

[OB] What is up with Mraize and Ialai?
NeutroniumAlchemist replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
I don't think Ialai knows who Mrazie really is, to her he is probably just some highly regarded adviser with connections to the criminal world. Mrazie is probably getting more out of their relationship, with Ialai none the wiser. -
The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon

Unfortunately no, Hoid just hopped to Sel with all the remaining Cadmium and Bendalloy left on Scadrial. What you, as an allomancer, instead have is an unlimited supply of gold, a grumpy wolf hound for company and a sharp box cutter. Go! -

Question for Brandon: A train leaves Baltimore for NYC going 60 mph. At the same time, on an adjacent track, a train leaves NYC heading for Baltimore going 45 mph. NYC is 280 miles from Baltimore. How far are the trains from Baltimore when they pass? -
Just finished a reread of HoA and I want to share a part of the book that i found funny. In Urteau at the Citizen's house there is a garden that is described as torn up and plowed under. In this garden Beldre is described as sitting excluded, looking sad and alone only in the company of a lone little shrub that is also described as sad. I just found it hilarious how much Brandon thought to write about this inconsequential little plant in a ruined garden, so here are some quotes I would like to share: "There was a bench in the yard. It sat before a small shrub. It was the only plant left in the garden; the rest had been torn up and plowed under, leaving behind blackish brown earth." "Beldre sat down on her bench, hands held motionless in her lap, looking down at the sad shrub." "A part of him wanted to ask - to be brash, as the Survivor would have been, and hop down to demand of this solemn, solitary girl why she stared at that plant with such melancholy." "He took another step forward. The rough earth lay torn beneath his feet, covered by an inch of ash, the dreary remnants of what had once been fertile ground. To his right stood the lone shrub that Beldre often came to gaze at." Fate unknown, this plant most likely passed away during the Catacendre due to low priority on Sazed to-save-list. A funny passage tough Edit: Oops, just saw that I posted this in the Elantris forum instead of Mistborn

Ruin and Preservation are two opposites, therefore making Harmony kind of impotent and not at all a very cool combo of forces. Which two Shards would you combine to create to coolest combination of Shards? -
I still don't really understand what Feruchemy has to do with Lerasium from your argument, but natc indicated there is a WoB about this so i may try to look this up later. Natc also beat me to it, but Lerasium IS a sure-fire way to grant Allomancy: you just beat up someone til you snap, simple. The whole noble class of the final empire was doing just this for god knows how many years.
-
Why would Lerasium be useless if it didn't bypass the snap? And isn't Lerasium is 100% of Preservation, which only grants Allomancy. So why would Hoid's decision to steal another Lerasium-bead be based on his eventual Ferucemy when Lerasium only grants Allomancy?
-
Brandon has RAFO'd when asked if Hoid has swallowed the Lerasium bead or not. I have read theories about him hiding it somewhere, made an hemalurgy spike out of it or perhaps he has devised another use for it. Perhaps he ate it, the point is we don't know. He somehow has a feruchemical power so i dont see why his Soothing or Rioting has to be of the Lerasium bead. BS said that the Lerasium rewrites sDNA but would that bypass the snapping? You can have allomantic powers and never be able use it until you snapped. Eland was beaten near to death during his noble childhood for this reason, so he already had cracks in his soul, so we don't know if the Lerasium requires a cracked soul or not. But your almost certainly right about him only healing what he sees himself as, i ought to have figured that out (slaps palm to forehead).
-
I have a question about Hoid's abilities: We know that in order to use investiture a person has to have their soul cracked/"snapped" in some way. While we do not have confirmation about the Lerasium bead or his potential Awakening, we do know he uses some form of Lightweaving and Feruchemy and possible Allomancy. We also know that if Hoid have the healing-ability to heal his soul. It just struck me as odd when i thought about it today how Hoids soul-healing ought to have screwed up his possible use of Investiture, which requires a non-healed soul. Is there an explanation for this somewhere that i have overlooked?
-
Oh nothing i expect, i was perhaps a bit harsh about the characters, i just didn't think they were up to Sandersons usual standard. My negativity was mostly based on the epic-world itself, even another core possibility would most certainly have epics in them and i just feel that the whole superhero theme has run it's course. It was a fun idea, what i liked the most was this idea that the usage of epic powers made the users themselves evil. Supercool idea. The explanation behind this however, was not. That an extra terrestrial/sullen teenager who was skulking was behind it all was a bit underwhelming and i would rather read something else by Sanderson then a continuation of this universe, that's all.
