  1. Just popping in for a moment. I might have some information that could help here, but I need some clarification first. I doubt this would be the case. More likely, with the apparent abundance of scanners, there's some kind of redirect or scan obfuscation. Otherwise, with the results we've apparently received, we'd have two more elims right now. That would be incredibly imbalanced. Question for those that scanned: Did it say the name of your target in the results?
  2. I figured, but your statement gave me a good launching point for my typical "don't roleclaim early" speech. Roleclaiming later isn't always a bad idea, by the way. My biggest issue is with roleclaiming super early, especially in a blackout game. Blackouts are usually designed to maintain mystery, and if everyone spoils the secrets by roleclaiming right away, it's just not as fun (just my opinion ). It also helps people with inclinations like Aman to make up elaborate stories behind their abilities, which is always entertaining to watch.
  3. Emeril was furious. He had spent hours on the documentation required to get into the Lord Mistborn's own allomantic school, and now he was being told to prove himself and hope for the best? Unbelievable. He had half a mind to pull rank and demand admittance despite the lost records. His mother, though, would never permit such pettiness. Emeril sighed. She'd inevitably hear about it and force school administrators to deny him on principle. It meant he would have to play their games. --- Hello! So many votes. Great to see a quick burst of activity. My guess is mostly allomantic abilities, though possibly some feruchemical ones thrown in. Mostly since the premise is an allomantic school. I'd also hazard a guess that all village players have an ability, again based on the premise of the RP. I am always hesitant about roleclaiming, and this is no different. Elims have some slight advantage, in that they're able to communicate and get an idea of abilities that are out there. However, basing guesses off the RP (people who shouldn't be admitted to an allomantic school), it's possible elims only have one ability: Thug. Or they have pewter feruchemy to imitate thugs. I think it would be much better to avoid roleclaiming at the moment, in order to preserve some secrets the elims wouldn't know.
  4. I will sign up as Dera Renault, now head of her family's textile trade.
  5. I suppose I should probably actually sign up for this game. Looks very entertaining.
  6. Possibly Drake, but probably no one, if I'm being honest. I didn't have any strong leads, and ran out of time for substantial analysis when it might have been useful based on amount of content. I actually contemplated letting Venture live over me, since I had a feeling he was village, but decided to leave the decision with RNG. The reason I might have voted on Drake is based on what I remember from last turn. His reason for voting Venture seemed a bit... flimsy? I don't think that's the right word, but I'm too tired to find the right one. It just didn't feel genuine. I'll want to look back at it more thoroughly before I take any action against him.
  7. Ellarel's whole body hurt. She wasn't well-versed in the healing arts, but she knew several bones were broken, and she likely had a concussion. The world spun as she hauled herself back to the top of the chasm - an incredibly difficult task with one arm and one leg refusing to function properly. Her vision became blurry, then dark near the edges and tears streamed down her face. She wanted to scream, but would not let herself. More dignity was required, especially after receiving a blessing from the Almighty to still be alive. This was really going to put a damper on her potential of catching Adolin's eye. Maybe he'd hear of the incredible survival, though. Ellarel only hoped her face remained unmarred, or that might chase him away just as quickly. If nothing else, this gave her an excuse to not work for a while. --- Sorry Fifth for the late vote. That was me. The best I could hope for was to get things to a tie and hope I came out alive.
  8. I fully understand. It's why I tend to be unspecific when referring to things I'm unsure about when I'm in a hurry. Easier to not make mistakes. I mostly wanted to point it out since it was a good segue into my defense of Venture, not necessarily against your points. Some of his stuff has been a bit off, but not in the ways I'd expect from elim!venture. It seems more like village!venture mistakes.
  9. It would then be the opposite, as he voted on me and not Elbereth (I think I may need to change my name... this is getting confusing, even for me ). So you would believe that Venture intended to vote on village!Elbereth, but voted on elim!Elandera, meaning the first three votes of a game just happened to land on an elim at random. While not impossible, it's very implausible. However, my counter is this: If Venture and I were teammates, I think he would have been more aware that he had been typing the wrong name. It doesn't seem like the kind of mistake Venture would make were he on a team with either El-. The more likely scenario is that he is on a team with neither of us, and simply made a mistake.
  10. Not really. We still have about 31 hours left in the turn, and there's not much basis behind my lynch. So far it's a stab vote from Araris, an unexplained vote from an apparently chaotic-aligned Elbereth, and an unusual vote from Venture, in which he seems suspicious of El and Araris for voting on me, but also votes on me(?).
  11. Ellarel looked up in surprise. A defense? For wh-- oh yes. People were accusing her of attempting to kill the Highprince. "My defense would simply be I am innocent." In truth, Ellarel had been daydreaming again, and wasn't sure why people were bringing her into the conversation in the first place. She just didn't want to admit that. "Aggressive? What have I done that's aggressive?" --- I know better than to be concerned about two votes that early in a game simply because there was nearly 48 hours left of potential discussion that may sway votes. While I consider both votes as possible to stay (simply because of who made the votes), I did not think it worth worry so early.
  12. Oh, I see my confusion now. I misunderstood that the person receiving the challenge also had to be holding a shard, so I was worried someone might try to use it as a scan of sorts. This makes a lot more sense, though.
  13. Huh. Two votes already? If I didn't know any better, I'd be concerned. Not much to say yet, other than a few rule questions. @Fifth Scholar, does the thief winning end the game, or is that separate? If the former, we should all probably be cautious about specific item claiming. Granted, with the bonus win-cons, that might be a good thing anyway. The Shardbearer's ability is interesting, as it becomes a claim, but also a forced lynch between two people (though, Fifth, how does the thing work that "all Alethi can tell who has shards?" Would it be announced that someone's claim is fake?). I would urge caution of being too free with these challenges, as we really don't need two villagers caught in one. The bonus goal of the elims obtaining a shardblade or a soulcaster suggests they don't start with these items, so early on, it would only work if they have shardplate. --- Dark ink stained her freehand, caused by what was now a smear of black across the paper in front of Ellarel. Her employers would not be pleased. She was supposed to be more skilled than this. However, someone had startled her when they burst into the room. Ellarel quickly scrubbed the ink off her hand, and replaced the parchment. The person who'd caused her such a mess began talking of assassination plots and Highprinces being attacked. She quickly tuned out the woman, unconcerned by the political intrigue around the warcamp. The only think that concerned her was Adolin Kholin. Hopefully she'd be able to remove the stain from her hand before the feast. Ellarel knew it would be her chance to grab his attention. She was reluctant to admit her efforts so far had gone unnoticed. But not at the feast. She had a new dress made, and found a stylist that could work wonders with her black and blonde hair. Tonight would be the night. "Brightness Varam. Are you done?" Ellarel was startled back to the present once again. Her hand was paused on the paper, black ink beginning to pool under her reed. Another paper ruined. "No, brightness." "Then I'd suggest you bring your mind back to Roshar and finish the computations."
  14. Good game. Good job team at orchestrating that quick win. Especially Coda, who was really good at the strategy, especially for a first game. I second Fifth. I do hope you stick around! Being on the elim team with Fifth was fun for RP. Playing that up in the thread was too good an opportunity to dismiss. Unfortunately, @Elbereth, I will have to bow out of the next round, but I would like to be in the spec doc. This week is going to be busier than I had expected. I'm glad I got to participate in round one, though!
  15. "Sorry, what now?" Dronlir had lost track of the conversation, after letting his mind wander into an adventure of his own making. --- I was going to RP this, but I just don't have time. Since I promised I'd vote, here it is. Elandera I find myself growing more suspicious of Fifth. His apparent trust in me seems a little... exaggerated? I think that's the right word. I also find it interesting that so early in the game he voted on someone seemingly at random. While it is beneficial bin the long run, it could easily be an elim ploy to gain village cred, for being the first to prompt the election of a villager. As an elim, he'd have full confidence in knowing alignments, and would not be apprehensive about electing someone else. I'll try to share more thoughts later, but I'm out of time.
  16. When I first made the post, it would have been the first vote on Fifth, just adding one more single-vote candidate to the pool. Since you've brought it up, subsequently voting on him, I feel a little pinned into a strange potential for IKYK no matter how I vote, so I'm trying to put more thought into it, rather than just reacting to prompting for a vote. Especially since, to your own point, village is not majorly harmed by no vote. It's not a refusal to vote. It is a desire to make a more informed decision. I am at work (and have been since I first got on this turn), so am limited on the time I can spend reading/analyzing. I don't believe throwing down a vote for the sake of a vote is going to be helpful at the moment. Yup. Sorry. That's a side effect of me being at work. I often end up with the tab open on the page for hours, but no time to actually do anything. Other times, I can spend hours doing things online. Today has been particularly bad in regards to number of calls/incidents. In the down time, I'm trying to piece together a D&D game by tomorrow. I do hope to get a vote down by tomorrow afternoon, after a bit more consideration.
  17. There are a few reasons. The largest reason is the same reason I don't want to be lynched early in standard games: I want to play longer than one turn. I'm having fun already with RP, which is fairly rare for me in a game, as I focus mostly on analysis. Speaking of RP, I felt in character that it would make more sense for Dronlir to offer up Bombur first, since he doesn't particularly know what's going on, and would feel very weird if he was sent by himself. It was also in part because of Fifth's argument. Voting on only ourselves is getting us nowhere, and while I would take me over someone whose alignment I don't know, I'd rather consider all my options than immediately contradict advice with which I agree.
  18. “What’re the odds that elf chap will let the seven of us go on this journey?" Dronlir had forgotten about the elves. How, he wasn't sure. They were crawling all over the place, and not just Elrond's people. "All that walking sounds like an excellent opportunity to finally start a consistent weight-loss plan, which Bofur is always nagging me about..." Dronlir could only hope. He wouldn't speak his mind, and the work of being Bombur's porter was good pay, but it was a bit strenuous at times. "... and that’s besides the goal of destroying the ultimate evil in all the lands. Why, I bet that as Ring-bearer, the influence of that cursed object couldn’t touch my heart for all the layering over it!” That comment made Dronlir smile. Not to mention Dwarves were hardier stock, not so easily swayed by something as simple as a ring, evil or no. "Bombur, I do believe you are correct. We cannot trust such a thing to the elves. But I would not deign to go without you, so perhaps we should not vote for me so soon." @Fifth Scholar
  19. "What's this about a ring?" Dronlir could only hope it was forged by Dwarves for this much pomp and circumstance for a simple piece of metal. Except, hadn't someone said something about Sauron? That would be even worse. Perhaps Dronlir should actually pay attention. He thought for a moment, but the decided it wasn't any of his concern. Bombur was the one here on official business. Dronlir had simply been brought because Bombur needed someone to carry him, and Dronlir was one of the strongest in the Lonely Mountain. But if Bombur went, Dronlir would have to go, too. So he began to actually pay attention to the meeting. "...greater peril than perhaps any of you have yet faced..." That didn't sound good. Dronlir wasn't sure how well he'd be able to carry Bombur through peril, for his burden was not light, ring or no. But if Bombur was called, he would go. It was his duty to his king and his people.
  20. Finally decided on my character, I will be Dronlir, a younger dwarf who doesn't actually understand why he was sent with the rest of the dwarves to the council.
  21. I will sign up as well. I'll get an RP character soon.
  22. I concur with Drake. Ideally, option 3! But I'd be perfectly content to wait a bit in hopes of getting a few more players if that's how it would work better for you. EDIT: Also, decided to do a little RPing. Enjoy! --- Ellarel Varam had one goal: Marry Adolin Kholin. It’s why she’d convinced her father to venture to the Shattered Plains and set up shop in the Kholin warcamp, despite the textile trade being more lucrative in other camps. The thought of the army’s silly dress restrictions evoked an involuntary eye roll from Ellarel. There was nothing wrong with a little luxury. That was her father’s concern, though. Her concern was getting a place in the king’s entourage. How else was she supposed to get close enough to Adolin? She stood outside the head scribe’s rooms, forced to wait while the stuffy scribes discussed her potential. There was a benefit at least. Adolin was supposedly in the palace complex today. Ellarel kept glancing around, hoping Adolin might walk past soon. Ellarel jumped as a stern female voice brought her attention back to the scribe’s office. “Brightness Varam, come in.” She followed quietly, sneaking one last glance down the halls.
