As promised, I went back to look at the prior cycle. @Abstrusity, I know everyone has basically cleared you, and I agree fully. I looked back at your post that I had found suspicious and realized I read it wrong. Somehow I saw the above quote and translated it as "we don't need a lynch C1." How? I have no idea. I wanted to apologize there, now that I see my mistake. That's reasonable. Xino. Hope you had a good competition! While I don't agree with the vote on me, I get it. A roleblock on a cycle with no kill is suspicious enough, and I'd likely vote on myself in this same situation. But I don't have any actions to take. As for who I find suspicious, I'll have to go for the "third time's the charm" vote and place it on Elkanah. I know there may be other factors regarding your change in playstyle, but it would make sense that some of it may be a slight switch due to being an elim. I also found this statement to be a little odd: The reason I find this odd is that it downplays the initial elim threat. One starting elim would be way overmatched, especially with the likely difficulty of finding the Sequence(s). The game would be over with a lucky D1 lynch. More likely, the elims had about 3 players, 4 after the conversion, with the possibility of converting more through other yet-to-be-revealed mechanics. There's also the issue of his vote last cycle. It was before Venture was under a real threat, so that wasn't likely a factor in his choice. But the sudden train on Abstrusity because of my easily disputed faulty reasoning is disconcerting.

I was roleblocked? I didn't take any actions last turn since I don't have any available to me. My role is a passive one and I'm not the Suit in my subset. You do bring up a good point, though. The cycle vs. turn does remove some of the plausibility of inactive elims. I'll look more at the thread tomorrow to see if I can find any suspicious interactions with Venture. Time for sleep now, though.
-
Well, why don't we get the voting under way then? Hopefully we'll have more active discussions over this turn than the last. I agree with Alvron's assessment that inactivity may have been a contributing factor to the lack of kill last night. I'll start there with my questioning. Xino, what say you about the lack of arrest? @xinoehp512

Mid-Range Game 40: A Defiant Rebellion
Elandera replied to Elandera's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Thanks everyone for playing! It's time for some of my thoughts. The chit system definitely heavily favored the elims in this game. In retrospect, I would not have made them trade-able. The reward system and collection system was enough. Role distribution was also slightly in the elim's favor. Had it not been for @xinoehp512's incredible luck in scanning the elim doing the attacking, the elims likely would have won because of their access to roleblocks and vote manipulation. As for the second-to-last round, targets were all the difference between win and loss for either team. The two village roleblocks targeted the same elim (Fifth), and not the one who was submitting both kills. Unfortunately, Abstrusity targeted the Vici Warrior (Striker!Coda) with one of the kills. Had Abstrusity targeted Zillah and Rath, elims would have won. This is probably the closest game I've GMd so far. Thank you all for making this a great game. Activity was good. Sorry I started failing with the write-ups. The last week of the game was rough for me personally, so write-ups were not my priority. I thought I had more thoughts, but I can't think of them at the moment. Anyway, well-played everyone. And huge congrats to Xino for probably the best scanning record ever.- 229 replies

Could you please explain why my vote was suspicious? As I see it, there were two votes active at the time of my vote on Abstrusity (one of which was mine, and which was subsequently removed from Elkanah). The night turn lacked activity in both the thread and my doc, so all I had to go on were posts from D1. Of everyone's posts, I found Abstrusity's most odd, so I placed a vote hoping to get a response and further discussion from them and others. I saw no reason to vote on Venture over Abstrusity by the time people actually began to vote (which was mostly during a time where I could, at most, briefly check the thread and not post because I was DMing a D&D game). That has clearly changed, as the possibility of elim!Abstrusity throwing Venture under the bus is pretty minimal, unless elim!Abstrusity had a very important role. Even then, they could have moved the votes to Coda easily enough instead of on each other.

We're more than halfway through this turn and there's not even a lynch discussion going. We have a grand total of two votes, all placed early and mostly for prompting talking. Elkanah (okay, one vote, but I'll finish with another vote), I don't actually want to lynch you, as you are one of the more talkative ones, and it appears we need some prodding toward activity. Also, I just realized I used you as my poke-vote target twice in a row now. I think my subconscious is trying to rid the other "El-" of the game. @Butt Ad Venture, @Rathmaskal, @The_God_King, @Kidpen, @Zillah. What do you have to say about what's been revealed so far? Did you know Kynedath was Sequence before his death? For now, I'll vote on Abstrusity. Their voting pattern C1 was a bit odd. They jumped pretty quickly on lynching Experience, then did a retaliatory vote on Kidpen while simultaneously saying they didn't think they needed a C1 lynch. @Abstrusity, what say you?
-
*waves* Hi! I agree with your assessment of Shane. I don't like the vote, and I really don't like that it actually led to Experience's death, but I also don't see it being a deliberate elim move. The write-up doesn't indicate any vote manipulation. @DeTess, @Araris Valerian, would there be a change in names/numbers of a vote count in the case of manipulation? It is more likely it was a poor, last-minute decision. Conversions are probably likely to continue, considering the wording of "any future conversions." One was triggered by loss of the Sequence, so I wonder if losing the leaders of the subsets will trigger more. I'll need to review more of what's happening in my subset and in the first cycle before I make a serious vote. For now, I'll join Young Bard in a poke vote and hopefully get some more talk going in the thread. @Elkanah, you're usually more chatty. Elkanah. How's it going?

Mid-Range Game 40: A Defiant Rebellion
Elandera replied to Elandera's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Rayne raced through the caverns, feeling increasingly trapped. He longed for the freedom of the sky, the song of the stars. But there was no way out. No way up. His enemies were closing in. They had come so close. Close to throwing off the government that quelled the defiant. Close to changing how people thought of defiance. Close to making a better world for the truly Defiant. Some hope still remained, though. The few chosen by Ironsides were closing in, but Rayne still had some defiance left. If he were to fall, it would be in a final glorious moment. Footsteps thundered behind him. He didn't risk a look back, but simply counted the falls, the patterns. Two people, both running. It would be easy enough. Two had given him little trouble before. But then he'd had Fade and Scrivner. Rayne was alone. But still defiant. He spun as his enemies gained on him. He raised a pistol, finger already depressing the trigger. A flash of light shot from one attacker. No, not a flash. A line. It latched onto the pistol, pulling it downward. His shot missed. The attacker was on him, then, wrapping the light-line around his hand, then his body. Trapping him. Holding him back. "Rayne, callsign Fins. You are being arrested under the authority of the Defiant Defense Force, authorized by Admiral Judy Ivans, callsign Ironsides." Rayne fought against his captors. Both were now holding him, pushing him toward his fate. Would they kill him? Or would they let him rot in prison? He wasn't sure which he would prefer. "The Disputers will not end here. Others will take up the cause and continue to defy the Defiant. I may die today, but I'll win anyway." --- Abstrusity has been arrested! They were a Vici Warrior and a Disputer. The Defiant Defense Force has rooted out all of the Disputers and have won the day. Player List Disputer's Doc Dead/Spec Doc Master Spreadsheet- 229 replies

ETS, I do hope you come back for another game. We really would like to have you spend more time in a game than half a cycle. The role information is interesting, though. It means there's likely another attack/kill floating around aside from the EBI. Hopefully it's not in EBI control, but just in case it is, anyone with a potential protection role should try to be consistent with submitting actions. We now know of the existence of the Legal and Communications subset. Loss of a Suit may have consequences, though. Sorry, I don't really have time for much more thought. Today has been busy, long, and difficult.
-
I disagree, I think. While D1 lynches do seem cruel at times, SE is inevitably a game of information. As Kidpen pointed out, elims are probably in a few of the subsets, which means they start with a lot more information than the village. Gathering and then consolidating the information we could learn from roles will take time, especially in a game with no PMs. A lynch, even one with little reason can give us insight into the mechanics, which may help solve the game. There's also always a chance of hitting an elim by chance, as has happened in several recent games. Deciding now to not have a vote may also stymie discussion, which though not often useful on D1, can provide clues later when people begin to flip. However, since I haven't yet found even that little reason to lynch someone, I will pick a target at random. (RNG decided I would be the target first, but I'm going to ignore that. Selfish, I know). Elkanah, is there a reason we should not lynch you today?

I exist! That's a lot of votes. Yay! --- Morrigan stepped into the streets of Elendel wishing that rather than the overbearing sun above her, she could be relishing in the misty nights. The nights had always been a comfort to her, cool and quiet, and away from people. Unfortunately, her current assignment mean the necessary evil of associating with lots of people. "Find the list." It started with a trip and a little acting at the Sixth Octant's constabulary.
