  1. So there I was, facing down a horde with only one thing on their mind: Murder. They all looked to me, expecting something. A write-up, a game, something spectacular. It was worse than that time I faced down Alivened romance novels, despite the lack of paper cuts in this situation. What could I do? Did I bend to the mob’s will and provide them a way to continue killing each other, over and over and over again until none are left? Yes, because I’m a coward and a bit of a sadist. Welcome to Quick Fix 42! The answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything Whoops, wrong book. QF42, Alcatraz Versus the Watakotse Infiltration! 2. Great game, everyone! @Kidpen, thanks for finally forcing us to lynch Striker. Elims, you did a great job! I for sure thought we were going to lose. @StrikerEZ, the biggest reason I struggled to lynch you is that I was never attacked with the binoculars. I thought for certain you'd attempt that, as you were the only one I'd told about them until I announced it in the thread. @Elkanah, you did a great job appearing village. I think the only reason I continued to pursue your lynch was the attempt to steal from CadCom. @_Stick_, thank you for trusting me enough to send those binoculars back to me. I promptly put them in the strong box we talked about, so I wouldn't lose them again, barring death. Even if I wasn't able to scan the actual killer (I was knifed the turn I did try), it's what led me to suspect Elkanah again. Thank you, BR for the game! As I said before, it's perfectly fine if you had to take some time. Life happens, we understand. Taking care of yourself is way more important than minding an online game. This was a fun game! I love the mechanics of it. Thanks!
  3. We're glad to have you join! You can read up on how it goes in the General Rules thread. A QF (quick fix) is a good place to start as the rules are generally simple, though they do move quickly. The current long game is winding down, but I'm sure @Elbereth or @Fifth Scholar could provide you with the spectator doc link if you wish. We do a lot of chatting there about the game and other things. It's a good place to ask questions as you observe the flow of a game.
  4. Welcome to SE! When a new game starts, a sign-up post will be posted to the forum. You just reply to that post, indicating you'd like to play and possibly an RP character if you wish. If you'd like, we can tag you when the next one begins. We should have a QF starting soon, though the MR has stalled. Have you played forum mafia before?
  5. I've been feeling suspicious of Striker for a while.
  6. Do you guys finally trust now that I was being framed? I've been trying to get Elkanah lynched for half of the game. I was hoping to have more answers about another elim, but I was roleblocked. >.> At this point, I don't think it'll change much to reveal. I have the binoculars. I haven't been able to catch anyone killing, though the binoculars are what made me most suspicious of Elkanah. At this point, I'm split between Striker and Kynedath for suspicions, but we can't afford a mislynch. I want to look back at Elkanah a bit more before I vote.
  7. No worries, BR. Take care of yourself! We can wait as long as needed.
  8. Interesting lack of kill. Did anyone use a knife? I doubt it was for lack of submission, as elims would have won had the kill gone through. For now, I'm still certain Elkanah is elim. He stole from CadCom the cycle he died, and I've had a theory elims are stealing from their victims to stockpile items. When was the last time someone died with items? Yet we know there should be several items out there. Elkanah EDIT: I reviewed past turns. The only person to be killed with an item is Stick*. Those were the binoculars, which most knew Stick possessed. Not stealing from her was likely the intended action to get rid of binoculars.
  9. Just in case I'm not awake for rollover, I'll go ahead and place a vote on Venture as well. (Elkanah)
  10. Yet you chose to vote on Joe? And you jumped to that lynch fairly quickly. While I was still in the lead, in fact. Elkanah. I stand by my suspicion from last turn. Your voting patterns have seemed off and you've been flying just below the radar, similar to Venture (the person I suspect second at the moment). EDIT: (Didn't quite finish my thoughts) Both you and Venture seem to be casting a lot of doubt toward Lemon, as well. I don't know if Lemon has been around quite enough to make sure orders have been sent in. I'm starting to suspect you two may be teammates. Striker was the one who originally proposed the less-talkative elim theory, I just reiterated it. So if that's something you're using as a basis of suspicion on me, it should also be applied to Striker.
  11. My vote should still be on Elkanah. This last minute pile on Joe is interesting. Kind of makes me concerned we're about to get into another village lynch.
  12. I'm really starting to doubt myself here. Striker Elkanah. I'll try to put together some more clear thoughts as to why within the next few hours.
  13. That makes sense. The tone of my post was probably more aggressive than intended. It really was more a statement on the current meta than anything regarding Devotary's lynch, though poorly phrased. I'm really starting to wonder if all the vocal ones are villagers, and the elims are just sitting back, content to let us chase our tails. Elkanah's last post is giving me a bad guy read. In some of my reading of the thread, they've been taking that same kind of stance a lot.
  14. I understand grammatically what you're saying, but what? It was never my intention to suggest that the only people who defend players would be elims. My point is that defense of someone is not a good argument for or against a lynch. Villagers are just as likely to have someone defend them as elims. Villagers are just as likely to defend others as elims. My concern is that this is becoming a very, very common argument that is bound to be used in a sweep of reverse psychology. Perhaps this is more a discussion for the meta thread, but I felt that everyone hesitant of Devotary's lynch was doing so on the basis of a lack of defense, not necessarily for other reasons they may have been villager. I know now that I was wrong, but my reasoning still stands where it was and I will not back down from that. My post was not to dissuade any counter argument, but to dissuade that counter argument, as I still feel it is baseless.
  15. I've been re-reading the thread, and found this: Emphasis mine. Is there any way you can answer this question, @BrightnessRadiant? @CadCom, how about you? Any idea what happened here? Unfortunately, my head is hurting a bit to much to really focus well on analysis. Both CadCom and Striker seem more suspicious than most others. CadCom from the uncertainty of his C2 action (though C1 can be accounted for with the theft from Lemonelon, barring them being teammates), and a few ambivalent posts about the lynches. And Striker still based on his interactions with Sart and the same kind of possibly feigned uncertainty about lynches. Striker, until we get an answer about CadCom.
  16. CadCom is correct in the interpretation. If we consistently say "elims will defend their teammates," then elims can successfully hide by not defending and allowing villagers to speak up instead. That will also turn into suspicion on those villagers who do defend someone who flips elim, further extending the goal of killing villagers. We also have to remember that villagers can get allies and could have people defending them as well. I just don't think defense of someone is a good metric for determining if that someone is an elim. In regards to the suspicion on me, I can see where it's coming from, but it's wrong. I was just as hesitant about the other two lynches that day, but didn't have time to really dig into who I did consider suspicious. As for his interactions toward me, it was likely intentional to create this kind of suspicion. Sart is a good player, and I believe his distancing efforts would not be so obvious.
  17. Alright, I need to review things a little more closely before I make another vote. I am leaning right now toward Striker, but I was clearly wrong about Devotary and my suspicion of Striker is largely based on the same ideas. For now, I'll do a quick list of current players and gut reads. I should have some more time tomorrow morning to do a more expanded list. Striker - Suspicious based on interactions with Sart Kynedath - Still vaguely suspicious read, but has dropped significantly in activity. Probably busy. Butt Ad Venture - Likely village, unless Sart's first vote was distancing. CadCom - Neutral to elim. Need to look into him a bit more, especially with Devo's vote. Lemonelon - Neutral. Seems to be successfully flying under the radar. Needs more investigation. Elkanah - Same as Lemonelon, though has given some good read analysis. Kidpen - Same as Lemonelon. A Joe in the Bush - Same as Lemonelon.
  18. I'm not saying they're not online to defend, I'm saying they won't defend regardless. Look at the suspicion I have on me for stating once I didn't agree with the Sart lynch because of a sheep vote. Anyone who comes to the defense of someone who later flips elim is under immediate suspicion. Devotary's lynch may not have been set in stone, but it was pretty clear early on that one of Striker or Devotary would be the likely target this turn. The safer bet may just be distancing and/or bussing when the time comes.
  19. I have a general problem with the argument that elims will always have a teammate speak in support of them if they're being lynched. In a strong lynch like this, trying to avert it is actually likely to draw more attention, so teammates may find it better to just bus and be done with it, rather than stand out for someone who's likely to be lynched anyway. The other problem is that this argument has been used in every game for the last several games. There's always a hesitance to lynching someone with no allies. It may be the elims know someone is bound to make that argument - or they'll make it themselves - as a reason to be hesitant about the lynch and maybe draw people away.
  20. Oh, Calamity. Character - the original - was not having a good week. Junior had disappeared, something very important had been stolen, and he was none the wiser about who was betraying them. Not to mention his backpack got a huge hole in the bottom. Probably started with the theft. Character pulled the rest of his equipment out of the pack. Rope. Mobile. Broken Beretta. Hopefully he could pick up a new firing pin for that soon. The trigger needed some work, too. The pull felt a little sloppy last time. He needed precision and predictability for their mission. How could it be so difficult to find an epic? They were always so... brash. Finding was usually easier than catching the epics, but they weren’t having luck with either. Character was beginning to suspect sabotage, or worse. Sparks. Someone is trying to get us all killed. The small sewing kit came last out of the bag. Character cut off a length of the extra-strength thread and began to stitch the hole back together. It wouldn’t look good, but it would work until he could get a replacement bag. He just needed something functional to get him through. To get him back to the doctor, epic in tow.
  21. Because there was entirely too much public knowledge of who had possession of the binoculars during rollover. It was very likely that if an elim wasn't told in PMs about it, they figured it out through the list.
  22. Looked back on D1. Devotary was the first significant vote away from Sart and/or Venture. Neither Twibanu's or Striker's positions in that push are good, but for now, I think I'm most suspicious of Devotary.
  23. That makes sense. I just think there were more than three people not around at the end of the turn, both of us included, according to the last posts of the turn. I'm not sure how it got narrowed down to just those three. Your item explanation does seem like a fair assessment. The possibility of a vest would throw some wrenches in the elim's plans, but I don't think it's enough to completely deter an attack on someone. I'll take another look at your posts (hopefully while I don't have work calling away my train of though every five seconds). For now, though, my vote stays.
  24. I don't believe CadCom submitted the kill last turn. He came to me with an action claim very early in the turn and other statements/PMs have confirmed it is probable. (Ninja'd by CadCom while I was working on analysis) Since he's made his statement, I can confirm. CadCom PMed me shortly after my first post this cycle, willingly offering the information that he'd stolen from Lemonelon long before Lemon posted about being the victim of theft. While this could be a ruse, I'm willing to go with Occam's Razor explanation here. Are we ignoring the possibility that there were elims on at the end of the cycle who chose to not submit a new kill order because they had other items/actions that were priority? Consider this: an item is destroyed when a player dies. Elims may have believe thieving was a better option on D1 than ensuring two deaths, as they could potentially get more items to use rather than have items destroyed so soon. I personally believe we narrowed our suspects too much, too soon. One of the elims was likely not around, but probably not all of them. StrikerEZ - Seems genuine in PM, normal oddness in C1 posts (there's a reason he's always lynched early ). C2 posts have seemed wishy-washy, stating he doesn't want to lynch CadCom, but seems to be setting up making that vote regardless. Neutral to elim read. Kynedath - Not sure why he believe CadCom is more suspicious than the other two proposed activity-based targets. Some other statement seem off, like they're trying to get people to focus in the wrong directions. I still disagree we need to be focusing on those who weren't around at the end of cycle. Seemed to do the same C1 when he suggested those without items are more likely to be elim targets. (Is the elim plan to steal all the things, rather than destroy?) Slight elim read DeTess - Good contributions to both mechanic and suspicion discussion. Neutral to village read Stick - I agree with her suggestion Sart's sheep vote would be a bad move for an elim, as it would (and did) draw a lot of attention. Neutral read Sart - I'm a little miffed still that they said I was sitting on the sidelines, so I can't really be unbiased in my opinion. Despite that, I don't think his votes are overtly suspicious. They seem relatively in-line with his past style. Neutral Butt Ad Venture - Three posts so far. Voted on twice, which helped start lynch discussion. First post was mostly RP with a little discussion about the black market/gun. Second was a response to the votes, and more mechanic discussion. Third was a vote on Sart without reasoning beyond agreeing with others. Neutral (mostly for lack of content) CadCom - Seems genuine in PMs. See beginning of post for my reasoning. Village lean Lemonelon - Neutral Elkanah - Neutral Devotary of Spontaneity - Some good contributions, but I don't like the push toward a Coda lynch at the end of the cycle. However, that's not enough for a solid read on Devo. Neutral Kidpen - Neutral Twibanu - Early game mechanic analysis, made very good points and asked questions I wouldn't expect an elim to ask in the thread. Was one of the first to offer up reads. Village lean A Joe in the Bush - I agree with his post D1 with suspicion on Kynedath. Otherwise, there hasn't been much from him to analyze. Neutral (Scale progression: Elim Read, Slight Elim, Neutral to Elim, Neutral, Neutral to Village, Slight Village, Village.) Seeing as how my strongest read right now is Kynedath, that's were my vote is going.
  25. @Sart, I'm not intentionally sitting on the sidelines. I've been storming busy for the last two/three days. I didn't have time to really consider the lynch candidates when I posted, and didn't have a chance to get on for more than 30 seconds after that until just now. To the person who stole from me... know that I am not happy, and that I will hunt you down. Or you could just PM me and we can work together. I agree with CadCom. The kill target was likely submitted earlier in the turn/day, before the last-minute series of votes on Coda. Or they didn't have time to switch the target. I'm not a fan of Twibanu's or Sart's back and forth voting pattern, but I've been there more than once as a villager. I also hesitate to call any of those who voted on Coda at the last minute suspicious, simply because that was the kill target. I'd suspect if one had been an elim, they'd have tried to push for another lynch, to get more village deaths.
