  1. That is something else I'd change in the balance of things. The win-con was created for a game of at least 20 players. We forgot to adjust your win-con to better fit the new player count. (Somehow the middle of my post was deleted, so I'll type it again.) You do bring up a good point about probability, though. In the future, if I didn't remove the criminal entirely, I'd give them more protection against insanity. The mask would have made things a little easier in not being tracked. And had the archaeologist been active, there should have been more items available. I do apologise, Sart, that you got the bad end of this deal. Hopefully the one-day conversion to elim and eventual win helped make up for that.
  2. ... Great job Wilson. I dismissed you as spy because it seemed too obvious. You did a great job playing us with the mind game. Kas, Hael, thanks for the game! It was a load of fun as an elim. Thanks, El, for your support. Burnt and Alv, it was awesome working with both of you. And Rae, glad you joined our side!
  3. I'm willing to vote on Stink, as it seems a pretty viable option. That might change once I get the chance to review the past turns.
  4. Roles were randomly assigned. But yes, some happened to fit their RP names fairly well. As for the Deep One clue, it was created after Rath was chosen as the Deep One. The italic half is an adjusted HP Lovecraft quote, and the rest is an adjusted SFSitFoH quote. The bold word is the hint. Same, Venture. Same. Though I'm glad we switched to 24hr turns at the end... otherwise there would have been a lot of wasted time.
  5. Not Rath. He's an Arbiter, as shown by today's vote count and C1. I already confirmed roles don't stack. I'll respond to the rest of the list shortly, when I'm not just waking up.
  6. Tunneling is pretty rare for me. The last time I did was on Striker a few games back, though I can't remember which one. This game was more of an incidental tunnel. My first vote was an attempt to get a better explanation for a vote. The second cycle vote was because he never answered me in C1, and I never felt a compelling reason to change it. Neither had really been intended to get him lynched then and there. The third cycle was because I felt there was an actual reason he was an elim. Turns out I was wrong, but that's how it seems to be going for me this game. His interactions with Alv had been just suspect enough that a vote for a lynch seemed warranted. Remaining players are: Elandera (Marzia) Burnt Spaghetti (Somi) - Neutral to elim read. She's had a bit more content than I remember seeing in past games with her, though I suspect that's due to lack of PMs. Her posts don't seem to express a whole lot more than vague suspicions. She also seems to be flying under the radar quite a bit. Young Bard (Kavela) - Neutral read. They seem to have good contributions, and I can't blame them for the vote on Venture C3, but some of his posts regarding Alv have felt a bit off. Overall, I'm agreed with his read on me - I can't really get one. Rathmaskal (Yesterday ""Yes"" Jones) - Neutral to elim read. The low activity earlier on makes it a bit more difficult to get a solid read, but they seem to be putting in a good effort. That's not really AI for him, though. The boldness of trying to get me lynched is not something I'd really expect, but the elims might be pretty close to a win, depending on what the EO chose/chooses. He could be willing to stick his neck out a bit more in that case. Elbereth (Ellira) - Village read. She seems very genuine in all of her posts, especially recently. Of all the players, I'd be most comfortable saying she's village. (To answer your question @Burnt Spaghetti, El is the one I'd trust most). Arraenae (Joon) - Neutral to village read. Another one who seems genuine, though she's one I have trouble reading in general, which is why I'd keep her in the neutral-ish category. I'm not feeling great, so the more I wrote, the less effort I was willing to put into things. Please forgive me.
  7. Yes, though it may not have seemed that way toward the end. The village had a very good hold in the mid-game, but faltered a bit because of inactivity. This last turn was going to be decided a lot by RNG and the decisions of whom to target with abilities. Rath chose again to attack Hats, knowing there was a very good possibility he'd be redirected. That protected them from losing the vote manipulation role, and gave a 1/3 chance of hitting him with the kills, which only had a 25% chance of success. Very clever decisions led to the elim win. He submitted the action basically right away. It was the first action submission that cycle. Also, RNG was a fickle mistress this game. It heavily favored the elims in some ways (like not making Hats fail), and in other ways, really favored Elbereth specifically. RNG did not regard you well, unfortunately. Speaking which, I'm going to add a few of my thoughts now. I had this conversation with El in the dead doc, but one of the biggest changes I'd make to the game is how much RNG played into the end result. I realize it probably made the players (especially villagers) fell like they didn't actually have control over the outcome of the game. I'd also probably make Mists of Releh a spellbook item that could be acquired like the rest of the items, or a role-specific ability. I'd definitely change the insanity rules, as well. Poor Devotary took the brunt of the insanity this game, and I'm sure that didn't help you feel involved at all. I hadn't expected it to be so rampant, especially on one player alone. I enjoyed the general idea of insanity, but would probably change it to not insane for two cycles in a row, rather than turns. That way there couldn't be the issue that we ran into with Devotary, where the governor is discovered and targeted by the Deep One every night turn. The Deep One mechanics are also something that would need adjusting. With the smaller player count, 1/3 of Fort Folk votes didn't play a huge role (at most, 3 votes were required from Fort Folk, and that wasn't for long), it also meant the Deep One felt a little too invincible. Having the Gravedigger killed so quickly didn't help with that. Role-claiming and the rampant problem of provable, hard-clear roles was an interesting problem as well. This was that spot in the mid-game where it really felt like the village would have a landslide win. People were becoming cleared left and right once they figured out the Bounty Hunter role didn't exist or was inactive. The small player count meant sacrificing some of the balance for making sure the game didn't end as quickly as a QF with too many kill roles. I would probably make the game a little less role-madness in favor of items and actions for everyone. A huge thanks goes to @Snipexe, who was an invaluable co-GM who put up with me. I tend to get a little over-excited and want to do all the things (just ask Fifth... ). We developed the rules together after realizing last year we wanted a Lovecraft-themed game for Halloween. I just had a little more free-time to handle the minutia. So please, if you like the game and feel like giving up-votes for it, make sure to send them his way. I also wanted to thank @Elbereth for stepping in to pinch-hit. You were a blessing for the village, and almost helped bring them victory along with Devotary and Xino. A huge congratulations to the elim team, @Rathmaskal, @ILuvHats, @Fifth Scholar, and @Sart. You all did a fantastic job this game, Rath especially. I know it felt a little hopeless for you at times, but your dedication to pushing through was fantastic. You definitely deserved the win for how well you played. @Devotary of Spontaneity, thank you for sticking with this game, despite the constant insanity issues. There's part of me that is grateful for PM spying not being as rampant as I'd expected, but I am also sad the Worship action wasn't used more. You'll see in the full rules that there was a possibility for conversion if used. Voice in the Crowd was also not used nearly as much as I had expected. Of course, thanks to everyone for playing. It lasted much longer than expected, but I do hope you enjoyed it. Please, if you have any suggestions for what you'd change, I'd love to hear them. What action/rules did you enjoy most? Which would you liked to have used more? Which did you not care for at all?
  8. Devotary of Spontaneity has been sacrificed! They were the Governor! The game is over! The Great Old One, Dagon, has awakened! The Esoteric Order of Dagon has succeeded and Fort Innsmouth has been destroyed. Player List Document Links Elim Doc Dead Doc Master Spreadsheet Full Rules
  9. The turn has ended, and so has the game (finally). Stand by for the final results.
  10. About one hour left to get in your actions!
  11. Sorry for my lack of involvement today. I was preoccupied cleaning my house, then errands, the LG, then a Starfinder game. I've had time to skim, but not respond to anything. I'm here to fight for myself now. I think I've said some iteration of that phrase in every game I've played with Alv. He's traditionally difficult to pin down as an elim, at least for me, since he's a chaotic player. I'd say the same of someone like STINK. Alv just happened to be the one up for discussion/lynch. I'd at least agree STINK is unlikely for an elim. Their vote on Alv C2 wouldn't have made much sense, since it was still plausible at that time to get a tie for a chance to save Alv another turn. I am willing to join you on the Devotary vote. Partly looking back at the C1/C2 lynches of Alv. She was among the category to ignore Alv C1, then voted on Bard C3 for a tied situation.
  12. Elbereth has been lynched! They were an Archaeologist! Vote Count Rathmaskal (1) - Xinoehp512, Devotary Elbereth (3) - Rathmaskal Player List This turn will end Tuesday, October 22 at 6 p.m. PDT.
  13. Just about an hour left to get votes and actions in.
  14. I'd probably do the same were I in your shoes. For fear of tunneling, I'm going to place a vote again on Venture. I agree with El that the late vote is a bit strange. In his post where he voted, he said Alvron had expressed opinions and we'd be able to get information, then turned around this cycle and said there was nothing useful. Alvron's vote on Venture might have been a distancing vote. If they're both elims, Alv would be content with a tie between the two to help clear the other when they flipped.
  15. One hour left to get your actions in.
  16. Summed up like that, it does look bad. However, I stand by my reasoning at the time. The votes on Alv C1 seemed to be because in a prior game, he'd been a Discovery agent. That didn't seem to be a real reason for a lynch (even on D1 where reasoning is almost always flimsy). And for C2, I really didn't see the reason behind Wilson's vote, which seemed to be the only reason others voted on Alv as well. It said he was elim because he voted on Tess, who then died. I just didn't see the logic behind it, as I'd expect Alv to be a little more chaotic about kill options. Clearly I was wrong.
  17. Nothing recently has given me that weird tone read. Aside from that first conversation, most of your posts seem fairly village motivated. I'm comfortable putting you in a neutral-village category. I'm also inclined to agree with Rae here, and say the Striker lynch was probably villagers, which is another reason I'd slide my read on you to the village side. A little paranoia of Alv is always healthy. I'm not sure I understand her reasoning from this turn, though. It feels like it might be more tunneling than anything. She did at least acknowledge it was an IKYK, which might be why she didn't vote on him. I'm not as aware of her past play style, so I can't really comment on her being more or less assertive. As for Alv, I intend to keep a close eye on him as always, but I don't think his posts have warranted a vote as of yet. Most have been RP or RP-related, and his vote on DeTess seems very Alv-ish, wishing to keep a perceived tie. This post from Itiah is interesting. He includes a strong defense of Striker, but ends up voting on Elbereth, who had no votes at the time. I can't really argue much, since he did vote on his stated suspicion, but there's something about the general tone that strikes me as odd. Maybe it's just that he used me as a reasoning for voting. @I think I am here., what say you? I'd love to hear your thoughts now that Striker has flipped. Are you still suspicious of El?
  18. No one has been lynched! Vote Count Rathmaskal (1) - Xinoehp512, Elbereth Elbereth (1) - Player List Reminders: Two votes are needed for a lynch. In interest of time, day turns will only last 24 hours This turn will end Sunday, October 20 at 6 p.m. PDT.
  19. And that's the turn. The next should be posted shortly.
  20. Fifteen minutes before this turn ends! Last call for votes and actions!
  21. Marzia pressed the cloth down onto the wounds, desperately trying to ignore the somersaults her stomach insisted on doing at the sight of blood. She had her eyes firmly closed. There was a reason she did not travel with the army as one of their smiths. There was too much blood involved in war. "How long do I need to hold this?" Her voice was unsteady - a stark change from her usual quiet, but steady tones. --- I wanted to write more in RP, but I lost my train of thought with no hope of recovering it since I'm at work. Wishy-washy is a good way to phrase it. C1 lynches always feel like a necessary evil to me. I try to be involved and vote, but second guess myself a lot for meta-game reasons. It's more than halfway through the turn (I think? I still don't know when exactly rollover happens, since I'm always asleep) and there's no vote yet. I guess I'll start it off. I'd still like Venture (@Butt Ad Venture) to respond. Was there any particular reason for your vote on Rath? What do you think of your vote being manipulated?
  22. Two hours. Be sure to get any votes and actions in now.
